Personal Description:
I'm a recent University of Glasgow Biochemistry and MSc International Project Management graduate. I'm a French national and have been living in the UK for 14 years. I'm a lovely person, very dynamic and love the one to one of tutoring. It makes me really happy to help someone achieve something they have worked so hard for.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring privately now for 7 years and have seen my students come to grow in confidence, in understanding and in knowledge of their chosen topics. I saw a girl who I tutored for 7 months go from getting an 'Unclassified grade' in her Biology AS Level to a B in her A2. I have never seen a student of mine's grades stay the same post-tutoring and I am very proud of that.

Tutoring Approach:

I approach tutoring different ways depending on who the student is. I ask them questions about themselves, hobbies, favourite subjects etc; and then using that to better understand how they learn, I talk to them about their private learning and revision and the method of approach to that and to exams. And then I teach them using the method appropriate to their style of learning.

Facts about tuition:

Your children's education is the one thing you should never settle for second best with, and with recent figures showing 40% of London student's having received Private Tuition at some point in the past - it is imperative you give your children the best chance in life by employing the best tutors.

I am not a part-time student, I am not a part-time graduate or even a part-time professional offering tutoring services. I am a qualified teacher heading up a Law Department in a Surrey Sixth Form College, and teach every day. Therefore I know the syllabus inside out, what the examiner expects, and the pedagogy of how student's learn most effectively. My prices reflect the Stirling and first-class standard of tuition offered.

My rates reflect results. I guarantee an improvement in grade and performance (sometimes evident after just several sessions.) My approach to tuition is very exam focused - especially when close to exams or resits. I don't waste time working through a chunky textbook - I work through past papers with students so they know what to expect, how to prepare, and how to get the most marks possible.

But actions speak louder than words:

One GCSE student joined me working at GCSE Mathematics Grade D/E, he hated maths and was dropping through his sets. Within only a few weeks he had jumped up a grade and by the end of the month he was achieving solid C's. Now 3 months on he is consistently achieving at GCSE grade B (and is now sitting GCSE Higher paper), he is top of his class, and realistically he will be aiming for grade A/A* in the Summer.

Another student joined me at the end of 2012. He was privately educated and was on the border of exclusion, his grades were also extremely low. Within only a month this student was off his report card, and his teachers had noticed a change in attitude and performance. Only a week ago, his report showed clear improvements across the board in both effort and achievement, and his core subjects showed a massive turn around. Behaviour had improved also.

Another student was working at GCSE Mathematics Grade D/E and he required a C in mathematics in order to get onto his College Course. The student had attended extra revision classes and had also been privately tutored but there was no significant change in his results with only 6 weeks until his exams. I tutored this student over the remaining 6 weeks. I focused on exam technique and actual specific exam content and the Student received his Grade C (Highest mark possible on Foundation paper) and was consequently accepted onto his course.

Another Privately educated student was on the Dyslexic spectrum and was struggling to meet the gateway grade C in his Mathematics GCSE. The parents had spent extensive amounts of money on private tuition and the school had put on many extra revision sessions - all to no avail. Within the first tuition slot, I had quickly relaised that the conventional teaching methods were having absolutely no effect. I had to customise my approach and actually found that getting the student to draw out the problems was the only way he could understand and remember them. Over a very short period of time (every Saturday for 5 weeks) the student easily hit the required standard and passed his GCSE maths with no issues.

Now about me:

I graduated from Nottingham Law School with a 1st Class Law Degree. My life in academia is solid: I have been a member of the "National Academy for Gifted and Talented Youth" since the age of 11; achieved 11 GCSE's (inc. A* English Literature, A* English Language A* Mathematics A*A* Science) of which my English Literature GCSE Exam mark was amongst one of the top 5 marks Nationwide; achieved 5 AS Levels and 3 A Levels (AAA) to which my marks in English Literature and History were full marks. I am a motivational, electric and honest individual, who strives to achieve the best in both myself and those around me.

Furthermore, I always aim to be a positive role model in addition to tutor.

*For all tutees who undergo initial assessment and follow the recommended course of tuition.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently teaching A-Level Law, Business and Functional Skills (English and Maths GCSE) ,at a Surrey VI Form College. I am also head of the Law Department. This means I also have a current and enhanced CRB check. My past tutoring experience is extensive and spans over 7 years. My experience derives from the many sessions of private tuition I have provided over the years, tutoring at Degree level and predominantly GCSE level (mainly mathematics and English.)

For example, at the moment I am tutoring two brothers (State School) KS3/KS4/GCSE Mathematics who are in year 10 and 8 respectively. I also mentor and tutor a year 8 boy (Whitgift Private School) across the whole syllabus. The year 10 tutee jumped from achieving a grade D/E in the foundation Maths Paper to achieving 100% on the Foundation Papers (a Grade C) and later achieving a grade B in his intermediate Maths Paper (within 3 months.) We aim to achieve an A* on the higher paper for his actual exam. The Whitgift educated tutee was originally tutored 2 hours a week (originally intended for one month) but after clear improvements across the board (both academic and behavioural) this was doubled to 4 hours a week and has continued indefinitely.

Taking into account all my past (7 years worth) and present tutees - I have taught both genders at every age (8 - 18) across all my subject specialisms. This gives me extensive private tuition experience. This comes at a premium in our profession, and is generally more valued than even the most impressive educational background or academic achievements.

My most recent degree level tutee (mature student) describes me as providing a "unique, interesting and intuitive tutoring experience" and assures me from her experience that a tutor in the very heart of academia is all the more useful to a tutee than an old Cambridge professor completely out of touch with a modern syllabus. I also recently tutored and mentored a Saudi Prince through the first year of his Law Degree at Nottingham Law School and he stated he couldn't have done this "without me." I am used to teaching students who have English as a second language, students with learning difficulties (ADHD, Dyslexia) and also Gifted and Talented student.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a modern and pragmatic approach to academia, having recently left University, higher and secondary education. My understanding of what a pupil is "going through" makes my style of teaching all the more useful, as a good rapport between pupil and student will be built. Furthermore, my extensive revision material is the latest and the best. This is due to the fact my resources are second to none.

With regards to Degree level Law - I am happy to assist in any particular areas of difficulty that may span exam preparation or coursework. I am also happy to read through the latter and make recommendations. Having competed in several Nationally esteemed mooting competitions this is an area where I feel my tutoring excels.

I feel it is essential for both tutee and parent to see tangible results from tuition. My approach is very exam based, primarily as I feel it is the best way to learn, and that it increases exam confidence, but also that it offers a medium whereby improvements can be gauged. All my students have shown significant improvements and I operate on a 100% pass rate. I feel every student is capable of achieving full marks, and with the right structured approach and effort - they can and will be achieved.

Personal Description:
I am an A* achiever, who studied at the King's School and at Hills Road Sixth Form, Cambridge. I have a passion for Mathematics and a lot of experience with Sciences also.
I teach Maths and Sciences as a full time tutor so I spend a lot of time preparing lessons and materials to help the learner. I have a vast bank of resources and aids for all age groups which are all my own and adapted through my experience.
I went to King's School, Ely and I went to Hills Road Sixth Form College, where I studied Maths, French and German with Grades of A*AA.

I have a great interest in Maths and I teach it to a very high accuracy and standard. I am very friendly and have many skills and techniques in teaching which make learning interesting, easy and most importantly, fun!

I was also part of the Army Cadet Force and taught many lessons to both younger and older cadets. I am a great leader and role model to any student.

I am fluent in English and German and can teach in both of these languages if necessary.

Unlike other tutors who tutor as a hobby or part time, I fully dedicate myself to the learner and spend more time and effort planning and preparing the lessons and all of the resources, handouts and homework.

Teaching Experience:

I taught in Cambridge as a Maths Intervention Tutor, where I taught over 30 students in small groups to help improve their levels.
I have privately taught Maths to over 20 GCSE students, 3 A-Level students, 1 QTS student and 1 student the American GRE Test, all of which have exceeded their expectations and are 100% happy with the quality and price of the service I provided.

Tutoring Approach:

I teach people how I have been taught, and in a nice, friendly manner. I have been inspired by many of my teachers throughout my life and I feel that if you like a teacher, then you will like the subject. I am a very likeable person and I teach therefore in a friendly way and I make sure the learner fully understands how we arrive to the answer.

I have studied how people learn and to ensure the learner understands fully, I explain things in more than one way to suit the learning style because each person is individual and learns differently.
I show the learner a variety of different methods to obtain the correct answer and I have many great ways to help them remember things like formulae. I strive to make each lesson memorable to reinforce the knowledge.
I also provide a free workbook that we will write formalised notes in after each topic has been gone over to make sure the knowledge is being comprehended in all angles of learning.

On our first lesson we will look at a syllabus check-list and use a Traffic-Light System to find which areas need improving or working on.
Together, we will do many examples of each question, using different methods to make sure of full understanding.
I create my own lessons and materials and configure them to how the learner would best understand, using Anagrams, Mnemonics, Rhymes and Memorable Ideas and more, as well as the use of PowerPoints and Games.
One of the most important things we would do together nearer exam times would be to study the exam Past Papers, exam skills and exam techniques. Doing past papers is really vital to get used to the exam layout and how to achieve the maximum marks for each question.

I can teach all topics in Primary and Secondary Maths.
I can teach ALL units and ALL syllabuses in Maths GCSE. (Edexcel, AQA and OCR (and MEI))
I can teach Core 1, Core 2, Core 3, Core 4, Statistics 1 and Decision 1 in Maths A Level. (AQA, Edexcel, OCR)
I can teach all topics and areas of all 3 sciences and combined science.

Why choose me to tutor?
- I have taught over 50 students privately, and in a school.
- I have 100% great 5* feedback and reviews from all of my students.
- The price per hour reflects the QUALITY of my teaching and the results that my previous tutees have gained.
- It is an investment in YOUR (child's) education.
- I specialise in teaching Maths and Sciences.
- I put the time and effort into the lesson preparation and planning.
- I went to some of the best schools in the UK.
- I make learning FUN! Thus giving the learner the best CONFIDENCE in their studies.

I charge the stated amount per hour because I have a lot of experience and knowledge in the subjects, as well as a huge range of my own resources.
I have a 100% record of 5 Star Feedback, so it's QUALITY tutoring that you are paying for.

Personal Description:
I am currently pursuing PhD in University of Wolverhampton. I finished Masters degree in Molecular biology from the same University with distinction in 2011 and started doing PhD. I am also involved as STEM (Sci, Tech, Engineering and Maths) ambassador which involves interaction with the school students to motivate them to make career in STEM subjects.

Teaching Experience:

I have experiences of teaching students from primary school to University level for few years before I joined University of Wolverhampton for my second masters degree. I have gained experiences of tutoring for more than 4 years in United Kingdom. Presently I am tutoring GCSE science, AS/A level biology and undergraduate/masters level biology.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in understanding students, identifying their needs and delivering effective tuition based on best possible learning techniques as well. My each hour class includes short written and/or oral revision from previous class and moving to a new class based on how well my student has done in the short revision test. In general, I also assess student's progress with a comprehensive written test with past exam questions in every weeks/classes. I am very happy that ALL the students I have tutored have done extremely well.

Personal Description:
I have been doing nothing but one-to-one private biology tuition, based in Oxford, for the past 23 years and am widely regarded as 'Oxford's Premier Biology Tutor'. I am now offering my services online nationally and worldwide via the medium of 'Scribblar' - an interactive online whiteboard with sound that is just as good as face-to-face tuition. I charge 60 per hour for face-to-face tuition (which I am planning on phasing-out very soon if possible) but only 45 per hour for online tuition worldwide.

Teaching Experience:

23 years of one-to-one tuition in A-level, IB and GCSE biology.

Tutoring Approach:

Stick to the specification. Do ALL the past paper questions and go through them with the mark schemes. Take the exam. and get on with your life.

I like to work in a very methodical and structured fashion and not confuse effective work with hard work. The students who say at the end "yes, I learned biology - but, better still I learned how to study" are the ones with whom I know I have really succeeded.

All that you need to bring to tutorials is a thin A4 ring binder with a copy of the specification punched and put into the front and some colored dividers in the back. If you are a retake student I ask you to highlight the specification in yellow with solid highlighter if you are quite happy with the content; dotted highlighter if you are a bit unhappy with it and no highlighter if you have not done it or have forgotten it. This will tell me where to start and I can estimate to within an hour or so how many lessons will be needed to 'reteach' the syllabus. Effectively I write a textbook for you and give you notes (to be filed in the colored dividers) to fill in any gaps in your knowledge. As I cover the specification I highlight it in pink so that you (and your parents) can see progress. I have CDs of questions that you can work through - each CD is specific to one exam. board and contains not only the most recent AS/A2 papers and mark schemes but also the preceding 19 years of papers for that board, chopped up into topic headings. So, for example, it will take an hour to 'cover' The Heart and then I'll give you the questions specifically on the heart on that board to do before the next tutorial. I will mark it in my own time and write in the missing key words. It is all very straightforward and actually rather less hard work than doing it in a slapdash, non-systematic fashion. The study skills that you will learn will stand you in good stead throughout life.

I can also advise on coursework/practicals.

Although I live near Bicester I have teaching premises in North Oxford where I work weekdays until late.

Personal Description:
Hello.

My name is David and I have experience tutoring students of all age groups and levels. I have a Ph.D. in biology (genetics and ecology, specifically). I offer tuition at your home or online via Skype.

Teaching Experience:

I've tutored a number of students in GCSE and A Level biology, tailoring tuition to the students needs, whether it's focusing on understanding specific areas, practicing exam technique or revising.

As a university lecturer I have taught a broad range of biology subjects, including genetics, ecology, evolution, microbiology, human physiology, molecular biology and forensic biology, but I really enjoy teaching any aspect of it. I've tutored many undergraduates on exam technique and scientific writing and I've also helped run statistics workshops so can help in this area too if needed.

Tutoring Approach:

I am friendly, informal, approachable and enthusiastic. I am also very flexible, as every student is different and often require a different approach.

Studying can get pretty boring, especially if it's just learning to pass an exam rather than really understanding the subject. I prefer to take a creative and engaging approach to help my students gain the knowledge, understanding and writing skills to score brilliantly in their exams and also hope to impart some of my passion for the subject along the way.

Additionally, I have experience teaching students with learning difficulties.

Personal Description:
I am an Undergraduate studying Medicine at Imperial College London.

I am extremely passionate in the Sciences and Mathematics (ever since I was a child, as weird as that sounds.) and I've always enjoyed helping my peers and juniors improve and excel in these subjects.

I have 7 As on my A Level Diploma. Throughout Junior College, my passion made studying interesting and I managed to obtain Straight As in Bio, Chem and Maths for a total of 6 in-school exams, and was consistently in the top 5% for each subject.
Also, I got Distinction for my extra credit- H3 Advanced Organic Chemistry.

I'm a Chinese from Singapore, but I speak English fluently since English is my first language and will have no trouble holding classes in English!
Also, I have a very cheerful, quirky disposition and I try my best to be friendly with everyone that I meet!

Teaching Experience:

I have almost 3 years of teaching experience with A Level Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics in my home country, Singapore.
Of formal private one-on-one tutoring, I tutored a Junior College 1 student in H2 Chemistry and Mathematics for 1 year.
I've also been involved in tutoring my peers and juniors in A Level Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology throughout my Junior College years.

Tutoring Approach:

Most importantly, I try to identify the weak points my students have, and try to focus most of my efforts to target their weaker areas. I want to ensure that my students are confident in all areas of the subject and that they get sufficient practice in all topics.
Also, I consistently watch out for any fundamental errors in understanding which may be impeding my student's progress and interest in the subject.

During the lesson, I ensure that I have sufficient material to give my students more practice and also, thoroughly explain or teach any concepts that my student may not have fully understood in school.
Most of all, I try my best to make tuition lessons fun and interesting so that my students will find studying enriching, rather than as a chore.

Personal Description:
I graduated two years ago from the Courtauld Institute of Art, from where I gained a degree in Art History. Since then I have continued my research in architectural, art and historic subjects through working as a researcher at an international architecture and design consultancy firm. After a very solid foundation in art and architectural history, I now have an insight into the practical applications of such research and its importance in the commercial world.

Areas of particular interest to me include: Manuscripts, Middle-eastern art and architecture, gender studies, institutional architecture, the Victorian Period, 20th century fashion, art theory and modern architecture.

I also have A-Levels in Classical Civilisation, Biology and Chemistry, so I can offer assistance with those subjects up until GCSE level.

Teaching Experience:

I am only beginning as a tutor and therefore have limited teaching experience but I do regularly discuss and impart information to others as part of my job. My role is to share my research findings in the most efficient way possible and I have always received positive feedback relating to my presentations and reports. My seminar contribution at university was also well received.

Tutoring Approach:

I would like to help students to understand the bigger picture, in order to understand the importance of the smaller details. I believe that endless memorising only has a short-term benefit and should be largely unnecessary if there is a real understanding of the context.

I also believe that the enthusiasm of the tutor inevitably infects the tutee, no matter what the learning material.

Personal Description:
I have been a tutor for over 5 years and have taught over 45 students in that time.
I am currently training to become a teacher, by studying towards a PGCE with the Open University.
I graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2010 with a M.Sci in Natural Science. I focus on improving confidence and question answering technique as well as fostering a deeper understanding of each topic. By relating theoretical concepts to everyday ideas, I help students find the common-sense structure hiding behind abstract numbers and theories. I also provide intensive exam preparation.

Teaching Experience:

From September 2011 - December 2012, I worked as an Editor at Boardworks in Oxford, a company that makes science and maths teaching resources for UK teachers and schools. This means I have a very clear understanding not only of the subjects and how to teach them, but also what is covered in school, by which exam boards and at what age, from 14 to 18 years. In December 2012, I left Boardworks in order to pursue a full-time career as a tutor, a choice that I continue to find incredibly rewarding and stimulating.

In the year between graduating and starting work at Boardworks, I held an number of education-related placements and internships, notably at University College London, in the Public Engagement Unit and as an Education Assistant in the Sedgwick Museum of Earth Science, Cambridge.

In 2010 I graduated from Queens' College, University of Cambridge with M.Sci in Natural Science. This course covered maths, physics, evolution and behaviour, paleontology, geochemistry, geophysics, climatology and geomorphology. This allows me to teach all science subjects to high level, and point out the links and relationships between the different sciences and maths.

Tutoring Approach:

I tailor each lesson to suit the student's needs. The first few lessons usually focus on getting to know the student and their strengths and weaknesses. I identify areas for improvement and use subsequent lessons to work on these, as well as ensuring that the student is comfortable with the whole of the syllabus. Closer to the exam season, we will focus on improving question technique and creating links across the curriculum.

Personal Description:
Third-Year Dentistry student at Queen Mary's Barts and the London School of Medicine & Dentistry.
My diligent, meticulous and altruistic persona, predominantly engendered from studying Dentistry, has made me keen on supporting and teaching ambitious students that need help with their education. My outstanding grades- achieving the highest grades in my year at high school and Sixth Form (A* in A2 Chemistry and full marks in GCSE Maths and Sciences) - have enabled me to attain various experience(s) in the teaching field. I've assisted students in the Student Iraqi Medical Association (SIMA) whom needed help with Medical and Dental personal statements and interviews, enriching their confidence and communication skills, which are vital for a healthcare degree. I focus not only on Dental and Medical applicants but on students of various ages, from a variety of ethnic backgrounds. I volunteered at a care home for the elderly with learning and physical disabilities and at Paint Pots Montessori creativity classes for kids (South Kensington). I am proud of the high standard of tutoring that I deliver and regularly tutor the following topics:

3) Health
4) Study Skills
5) UCAS application
6) Interview techniques for university places (medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine)
In the past I have also assisted budding medical students in Mcat, UKcat and GAMSAT examinations.

I never compromise in quality, therefore I have a limited set of students that I teach and because I have a duty and interest in their success, there are times that I am unable to take on new students. If this does occur, please accept my sincerest apology in advance.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate in contacting me.

With kind regards
J

Teaching Experience:

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have always found teaching rewarding. However, my passion began from the normal everyday routine teaching on the wards when I was liaising with colleagues, students and informing patients as to their condition and the process forward. Being a dyslexic, I found it easy to discuss core concepts of (medicine, biology, etc,) debate and to visualize them rather than the traditional sense of readings lots of chapters across a number of books.

Following on from this experience, I began teaching a number of students privately at University ranging from their coursework, to subject matters and then to examination preparation. In the process of teaching, I enjoy developing a rapport with a small number of students and watching their understanding of the core concepts grow, but also the result the students achieved from their institutions.

Taught students from a diverse range of backgrounds, abilities and levels.

EXPERIENCE & APPROACH OF TUTORING
Experience:
1) Every student requires tutoring for different reasons; therefore I believe that an initial student-tutor discussion is vital so that we can establish a level of tutoring that works efficiently for you to flourish.
2) Been teaching for 3 years, in different settings, at different levels across a range of environments.
3) Taught many age groups
4) I have had fantastic success with my past students and hope to pass this on to future students.

Approach of tutoring:
1) The goals and timescales is dictated by the student from the initial meeting & based on this; an greed set of measurable learning parameters is formed
2) Friendly approach to learning
3) The student enjoys the learning process
4) I advocate a clinical problem-based approach to learning.

6) Stepwise progression of the subject in terms of depth, complexity and integration
7) Encourage the student to ask questions
8) Provide relevant information
9) Promote independent thinking, pattern recognition and problem solving abilities
10) Request regular feedback from the student on what they found useful and how we could course correct in order to maximise time, enhance goals and course correct.
Approach of tutoring with students and their disabilities:
Being a dyslexic learner myself, I understand your pain, frustration and have a lot of experience to streamline your learning process. So don't be afraid to discuss learning difficulties with me. Its not a question of ability, understanding or context, rather the format in which it is delivered. In my experience, students with disabilities make fantastic professionals. Previous experience working with disabled students; dyslexia, dysgraphia and ADHD.

TEACHING METHODOLOGY
I have delivered a variety of formats in the past and below are my past approaches and I am happy to tailor the tutoring to the style that suits you best. In the past, students have preferred subject knowledge to be delivered in a simple method, step wise, structured milestones.
