Teaching Experience:

Teaching Experience:
Since I have been a student all my life so did not get a chance to tutor. However I have experience to work with young people as a "Tutor" in the state run TRIO program in USA. This job has given me a clear understanding and significance of a good education, promoting effective learning, teaching and personal development. This first hand skill of working with children of school age has made me patient, tolerant and has also given me an ability to respond positively to special educational needs. Having this experience would definitely facilitate me to translate my knowledge better to pupils and that surely would aid them to understand the basic concepts.

I have taught the undergrads in Virginia State University, USA under the state run TRIO program

Tutoring Approach:

open to new ideas, initiator, like the tutee to solve the problem himself, but be a good guide,I believe in teaching patiently and with dedication. My approach to teaching is straightforward and begins with generating questions and curiosity within young people's minds so that they can think well.

Personal Description:
Alumnus of Imperial College London, where I obtained a BSc in Biology, and Hampton school . Currently a third year medical student at the university of Manchester, and I aspire to join the RAF as a doctor. Played the piano for the last 14 years, and was part of the Territorial Army and therefore doesn't shy away from hard work and discipline. My teaching experience has allowed me to interact with students from all walks of life and has given me the ability to build a caring yet professional relationship to get the best out of my students.

Teaching Experience:

Part time teaching assistance, for a number of years, at local primary schools whilst at secondary school and university. Spent 3 months in China teaching English to children at a summer school. Was the senior NCO at my school's air cadet organisation where I spent 4 years teaching younger cadets multiple subjects (non academic) to help better themselves. Whilst in Sixth form I was a mentor, looking after and helping the young students, trying to make their transition from primary to secondary education much smoother.

Tutoring Approach:

Each student is different and so different approaches are needed. Some work better in old fashioned, structured environments whilst some are more 'hands on'. The ability to distinguish the strengths and weaknesses in my tutees allows me to come up with the best way to teach them. Usually a system of discipline and rewards gets the best results from everyone. By going back to first principles I can also help students discover the answer to questions themselves, building on what they already know. Ultimately I try to ensure they enjoy their teaching time; joking and laughing whilst learning will ensure they get the best from themselves.

Personal Description:
I am a private maths tutor, although I teach other subjects too. I am very passionate about the maths, in fact I have studied it at degree level for that reason. I hope to potentially be a maths teacher in future, as I can think of nothing better than sharing the skills that I have learnt throughout my life in education with others and watching my students flourish when they realize the joy of learning. Teaching is a very rewarding and respectable job and if done properly it can mold the lives of many young people.

Teaching Experience:

I have been working for a tution center part time for a couple of years now, which is open during school term time. I teach up to GCSE level there, focusing on maths, science and English. I also work privately helping those of all ages and abilities, including adult learners as well as children of a very young age.

Although I claim to help up to an A-Level maths standard, I have the ability and experience to help those at university struggling with foundation maths courses, or statistic related modules within most university courses.

Other subjects I teach privately include the social sciences, such as psychology and sociology. However as mentioned maths is my forte.

I have also taken part in a mentoring programme called paired reading, where I helped children in high school who were not reading at their aspired level, reach new heights, which consequently lead to them doing better in English.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that a student should feel comfortable with their teacher. Although you have to take a firm approach at times particularly when handling groups or younger children. If a child is apprehensive towards their teacher, they will be reluctant to ask for help, and therefore their hesitation will result in them not reaching their potential. I believe a person can achieve anything if they dedicate the right amount of time to it. More importantly if they show interest in it. As a tutor it is my job to help my students unlock their potential. To show them the real life application of what they are learning and how to apply their new found knowledge.

Personal Description:
I very much enjoy teaching science, particularly chemistry and physics. I would like to inspire more young people to go on to study science at university and to use it in their future careers. Apart from teaching I enjoy cycling, singing, dancing and playing the tenor recorder!

Teaching Experience:

I have seventeen years teaching experience in secondary schools as a science and chemistry teacher. I have taught chemistry and physics to A-level standard and biology to GCSE standard. I would regard myself as a chemistry specialist.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to find out the particular learning needs of each pupil and to make sure that their understanding is as complete as possible. It is important to me that the pupil has an enjoyable and fulfilling time during the tutorial. Where he or she shows an interest, I enjoy open discussions that can extend learning into any area of biology, chemistry or physics. I enjoy explaining the underlying mathematical theory that underpin scientific principles.

Personal Description:
Currently a 2nd year medical student at Warwick Medical School with a high upper second bachelors' degree in Biological Sciences and research experience in both academic and industrial placements. My background is mainly in cellular and molecular biology, but with knowledge of microbiology, virology, human physiology and anatomy.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, playing guitar (electric and acoustic), gaming and sports including snowboarding, squash, badminton and hockey.

Teaching Experience:

Extensive experience of peer support, group learning and student training. Head boy of secondary school.

Tutoring Approach:

It is vitally important to access what is required/desired from both the tutee and parents at the very beginning. I am happy to help in any way required, from explaining difficult concepts in ways that can be understood, to proof reading course work. Some students are visual learners, some learn by repetition, some by analogy and it is very important to establish early on how the tutee prefers to learn. Depending on what is required, I am also more than happy to set homework, go through exam questions and make revision plans/notes.

Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. I look forward to working with you

Personal Description:
Hi I'm Mark and I am currently a Post Doctoral Research Associate,in which I now have three years postdoc experience at the University of Glasgow, where I am conducting research into childhood leukaemia (cancer of the blood).

I believe my knowledge base makes me a highly suitable candidate to tutor in both Biology and Chemistry. I have a vast knowledge of science, which ranges from secondary school to University level. I attended Hamilton Grammar secondary school, where I obtained the following higher/A level grades;

Biology A
Chemistry B
Maths B
History A
English C

I then went on to study Immunology and Pharmacology at Strathclyde University, and obtained an Upper Second Class Honours Degree. During my undergraduate course I was awarded a certificate of merit for obtaining over 60% in all exams, the majority of which were based substantially around Chemistry and Biology.
Following this I studied for a Ph.D at Queens University in Belfast where I conducted research into the effects of CFTR gene mutations on inflammation in Cystic Fibrosis.

Teaching Experience:

I have obtained a vast range of teaching experience, which includes teaching individuals of all levels, from secondary school pupils to Ph.D students. Details of my teaching experience thus far in my career are listed below.

Queens University 2007-2010
Teaching and training of Ph.D students.
Teaching and lab demonstrating for Undergraduate Students in Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry.

University of Glasgow 2010 - present
Teaching and training of secondary school students.
Teaching and training of Undergraduate and Postgraduate students.

I have recently registered as a STEM ambassador, my role in this position is to share my knowledge of biological
sciences and practical skills / techniques ( which I have attained over 10 years of study and training) with high school students. One of the main goals of the STEM ambassador programme is to generate opportunities to inspire young individuals in science, I believe in approaching tutoring in a similar manner. Currently, I am supervising an advanced higher (AH) biology student, who is undertaking an AH biology project, which was structured by myself. I have helped in teaching the student various aspects of scientific study. These include teaching the student various skills such as, techniques in the lab, how to use various programs used for graph composition, data analysis and report writing and construction etc.

Recently I have personally tutored a student in advanced chemistry.

Tutoring Approach:

I have an interactive teaching style, this includes the use of visual aids, such as diagrams via power point presentations. Additionally, I believe in making good use of all resources not only literature but also internet based learning.

Engaging with students is essential in effective teaching and so I ensure that I am interacting with the students and continually assessing/reviewing their progress and providing feedback, rather than demonstrate once and move on.

Adaptability in my teaching approach is something I strive to achieve as I am aware not all students tackle studying in the same manner. I have obtained a vast range of teaching experience which includes teaching individuals of all levels, from secondary school pupils to Ph.D students. Details of my teaching experience thus far in my career are listed below.

Personal Description:
Currently a medical student at University of Oxford. I have a passion for Science and I do mentoring and teaching because I enjoy it the most.
With an enthusiastic and energetic approach and by creating an interactive atmosphere, I encourage the students to work through the problems and understand the underlying scientific and mathematical principles.

Having gone through the A-levels and GCSEs relatively recently myself, and with all the teaching experience as well as working with students and peers of different backgrounds, your success is guaranteed with me.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching formally and informally GCSEs and A-level Sciences and Maths via different schemes, for over four years now.
The students that I have helped out in the past have achieved at least two grades higher than their school predicted grades.

I have been involved in Peer mentoring schemes where I have been teaching GCSE Sciences and Maths to students with great difficulty in these subjects.

With that extra bit of encouragement and support, the results have always been `amazing` to the tutees. Prior to my participation in the scheme I have had training in effective communication skills.

Tutoring Approach:

Tutees can choose the topics that they need help with the most, so that tutorials can be tailored to the students' need.

I will be monitoring student`s progress by arranging time (outside tutorials) for tutee to do exam papers under exam conditions, and I will be going through the papers with the students, making sure the previously set targets are reached.

I will also provide extra practice questions from various sources to the tutee so he/she can master the topic before moving on to the next one.

Personal Description:
I am Science Teacher in the Bromley area, who is currently teaching GCSE Double Award Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics units 1 and 2) in a local school. I also teach KS3 for all three subjects and so am able to provide any extra tuition for any of these subjects.

Teaching Experience:

I completed a PGCE in secondary eduction, graduating in 2010. During my training year I worked in two differing schools in Liverpool - one was a really tough, inner-city school with lots of behavioural problems, and the other a Catholic school which offered a mix of academic course and vocational qualifications.

Upon graduating I worked in an all-girls school in Liverpool. The school has an outstanding academic reputation in the area - scoring 99% 5 A*-C including English and Maths. I completed part of my NQT induction year at the school.

Following on from a successful start, I decided to move down south to get a different perspective of teaching in a different area. I started at a local school in Bromley and have since completed my PGCE course and have gained considerable experience in the classroom. I have also recently been observed by Ofsted who were impressed with my teaching style.

Tutoring Approach:

I use a range of different ways to help tutor a pupil. I understand that people learn in different ways, and so in the first few sessions will try and discover which way the student learns best and so will then adapt my practice to suit them. In the class room I use models, demonstrations, set my own challenging questions, use examination style questions (and break them up into manageable sized chunks).

Personal Description:
I have had much help from tutors throughout my academic life so I can understand the value that is offered to a tutee by receiving extra tuition in this way. I am currently studying a Ph.D in Medical Science at Aberdeen University and studied my undergraduate degree here also gaining a 2.1 in my honours degree in Biomedical Science (physiology). The hours spent doing work towards my doctorate is fairly flexible and I have a car meaning my ability to fit around the schedule of others is very good. I consider myself outgoing, patient and very reliable.

Teaching Experience:

I was Biology prefect in my final year at school which involved helping to teach classes up until fourth year. I also carried out some work experience teaching primary school children PE and as part of my Ph.D I will be demonstrating for and tutoring first and second year undergraduates at the university. I have also had vast one on one tutoring experience from 13+ maths and science to standard grade/intermediate physics to advanced higher/A-level Biology and Chemistry.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring will be engaging, challenging and above all I will strive to create an environment which makes the tutee want to push him/herself. The result will be that the tutee will enjoy doing learning and the progress and benefits will start to become apparent. It was through this style of teaching/ tutoring that I found my strengths in academia and ultimately successes, therefore I wish to pass this confidence in learning on.

Personal Description:
I am currently a second year student at Bangor University, North Wales. I am studying Zoology with Animal behaviour. I am hoping to take a Secondary Maths PGCE so any tutoring experience I can gain will be beneficial to me. I am available to tutor in Bangor and surrounding areas during term time and Bodmin, Cornwall and surrounding areas during holidays.

Teaching Experience:

I have had no teaching experience but I have helped my younger siblings with schoolwork and I have helped peers with their maths GCSE during Sixth Form.

Tutoring Approach:

I envision to be strict but also fun for younger students. I will focus on areas my students feel they are weakest at first but will go over their stronger points to make sure the information stays in the front of their minds in preparation for exams and tests.

Personal Description:
I am a keen all round biologist with a particular interest in genetics. I conducted my PhD research at the University of Birmingham, which was focused on the genetic basis of Wolfram Syndrome, a rare inherited neurodegenerative disease.

Following completion of my research I moved to Aberdeenshire and am currently working flexibly from home, whilst dedicating my spare time to the study of canine behaviour and training.

Teaching Experience:

Whilst new to home tutoring I have gained experience during my time at university tutoring undergraduates and mentoring research students in the laboratory. I have previous experience working as a classroom assistant to children with special educational needs and have also participated in the Student Associate Scheme in England, working on placement in the Science Dept. of Camborne School with secondary and post-16 students.

Tutoring Approach:

I take an informal but organised approach to tutoring with the aim of providing a comfortable and non-pressured learning environment, where students feel able and encouraged to ask questions and build confidence at a pace that is comfortable for them.

Personal Description:
I have just completed my third year at the University of Cambridge studying medicine. Naturally, my specialist subjects are Mathematics and the Sciences. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and get great satisfaction when I see my pupils progress and understand subjects they initially find difficult. Furthermore, I have studied further maths, biology, chemistry and physics at A-level

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored A level, GCSE and 11+, as well as university aptitude tests such as the BMAT/UKCAT, and hence feel well equipped to teach a variety of students. Subjects I have taught in the past include Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Biology.

Tutoring Approach:

I fully appreciate the difficulty and stress associated with exams, and through personal experience have found that success is largely dependent on good exam technique and understanding of the material one is learning. I aim to inspire confidence in my pupils along with aiding their understanding of difficult concepts, together both of these will hopefully allow the student to answer the toughest of questions. I strongly believe that every student has abundant potential, and by tailoring my teaching methods to each particular student I intend to help the pupil achieve his/her best possible results.

Personal Description:
I am 22 years of age and my roots are Iraqi, born and raised in Denmark and I moved to London at the age of 14. I therefore speak 3 different languages; Arabic, Danish and English.
I am currently studying my final year of Mechanical Engineering (BENG) at the University of Hertfordshire.
My desire is to be successful in the field of engineering by being able to improve the quality of life both practically and socially. I am a dedicated and a self-motivated person, always ready to learn and achieve personal and professional goals as I progress in life.

Teaching Experience:

I was representing the Brent Youth Volunteers in Brent Youth Parliament. This meant I had to work within the community of Brent, participate with the members from the Brent Youth Parliament, come up with good ideas, action plans, and most importantly talk for the people of the different issues in Brent.

I have experience in tutoring as I have taught for about a year up to GCSE and A-level.

Tutoring Approach:

I am available on weekends anytime between 9 am to 7 pm.

I would like to know beforehand if study material will be provided or if I am expected to provide anything.

I can tutor boys and girls, however I do not tutor at homes unless you are a male due to religious reasons

Personal Description:
I'm 23 years old and currently I work part-time in a library, in an after-school club, tutoring and offering child-care.
I graduated a couple of years ago from Cambridge where I studied Classics.
I studied Maths, Biology, Chemistry as well as Latin at A-level, so I view languages quite mathematically. I enjoy spending time with people, playing the piano, being outside, and doing anything crafty.

Teaching Experience:

I have a number of different teaching experiences; currently I'm tutoring GCSE Maths, Science and English for a 16-year-old girl, helping her to understand work covered in class and to revise for her up-coming exams.

Before university I spent 3 months living with a family in Tanzania and home-tutoring their 10-year-old son in English, Maths, Sciences and History. It was brilliant to see him gaining confidence over that time, particularly in Maths, going from hating it to actually admitting he quite enjoyed times-tables!

Also, whilst at university, I tutored a number of pupils during school holidays in English, Maths and Science, from primary up to age-14 including studying for the 11+ and 13+ examinations.

I have experience working with students with SEN including helping a boy with dyspraxia with his Maths, and last year working 1:1 with a young child with autism.

For many years I've also enjoyed working with children aged 0-16 in Sunday school groups and holiday clubs.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to work with the pupil to identify any areas of difficulty, and then approach these topics from different angles in order to find a method or explanation that the student can better understand and more easily learn. I aim to offer plenty encouragement to help pupils to grow in confidence and in enjoyment of their studies.
