Personal Description:
I am a qualified and experienced teacher with vast and in-depth knowledge of the subjects being taught. I have been working as a private tutor for last 8 years. I started my career in Education after doing B Ed. After teaching as qualified teacher for few years I realized that my students could give even better results with individualized attention. This gave me a trigger towards private tutoring. Since then I have been enjoying to unlock the hidden potential in my students. It gives an immense sense of satisfaction when my students achieve excellent grades (A*, A). I have a passion for my subjects and I use different teaching strategies to inculcate the same passion in my students. I have heaps of patience and good sense of humor.
The core subjects taught are:

AS/A2 level Biology in Edexcel/OCR/AQA
GCSE Maths/Statistics in all exam boards including Edexcel/AQA/OCR

GCSE General Science (Biology, Physics, and Chemistry)in Edexcel/AQA/OCR
GCSE English in all exam boards
Tutoring for Driving theory test is also taken..contact for further details.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience of working with children academically from last 10 years, including 8 years of private tutoring. I have taught as a qualified teacher in London based Mainstream schools. My teaching experience has enabled me to develop and adopt a wide range of teaching and learning strategies for a variety of ability and age ranges.
Lessons are available for KS3, GCSE, AS Level, A-Level and Bachelors level students.

Tutoring Approach:

I enjoy teaching and it gives me a great sense of satisfaction. I believe that each child is a valuable and unique individual gifted with more or less the same ability as others; the only difference is about the kind of guidance they get. Being a teacher, I work towards finding their strengths and weakness, so that I can help my student to overcome their weakness. I prepare my students towards top grades keeping the certain things in mind such as:
Basic fundamentals on the subject should be clear. Establishing sense of correlation using real life examples is very helpful. A strong foundation can assure a strong building on it.
Intense exam paper question practice is very vital
Understanding the question is equally essential as to structuring the answer
Use of scientific keywords in answers
Time management in exam situations

Personal Description:
I am a biological and medicinal chemistry graduate from the University of Exeter, a top-ten university. My degree focuses upon the design and synthesis of drugs and their interaction with biological systems. As such, I have an in-depth knowledge of biochemistry, organic chemistry and inorganic chemistry. Currently, I am studying for my PhD in biochemistry.

I can explain topics within biology and chemistry simply and am willing to help with anything from understanding topics to coursework. At college, I studied the International Baccalaureate, using both A-level and IB textbooks. Due to this, I can teach both IB and A-level students.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience teaching AQA A-level chemistry and GCSE.

Tutoring Approach:

Very relaxed and easy going. I would give lessons on the syllabus and try to get the student to participate in them by answering questions. We could then revise topics together to make sure everything is learnt and there are no problems in understanding. This would culminate in looking at past papers and going through model answers.

Personal Description:
I am a post doctoral researcher in molecular epidemiology at the University of Warwick in the School of Life Science with a 2.1 in Biological Sciences from the Univeristy of Oxford.

Teaching Experience:

I have extensive school and undergraduate level tutoring and teaching experience over the past three years. I have tutored combined sciences, maths, chemistry to A level and statistics up to A level. All students have improved their exam results and increased confidence in their subjects. I have substantial experience demonstrating statistical methods for biologists to large groups and also one on one.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring focuses on the needs of the individual student. The student and myself identify areas for improvement and their most effective learning methods and focus on these. I always encourage students to attempt problems themselves before exploring concepts together in order to increase independent learning.

As well as Biology and combined sciences I can tutor statistics up to A level and applied statistical methods up to degree level.

Personal Description:
I am currently pursuing PhD in University of Wolverhampton. I finished Masters degree in Molecular biology from the same University with distinction in 2011 and started doing PhD. I am also involved as STEM (Sci, Tech, Engineering and Maths) ambassador which involves interaction with the school students to motivate them to make career in STEM subjects.

Teaching Experience:

I have experiences of teaching students from primary school to University level for few years before I joined University of Wolverhampton for my second masters degree. I have gained experiences of tutoring for more than 4 years in United Kingdom. Presently I am tutoring GCSE science, AS/A level biology and undergraduate/masters level biology.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in understanding students, identifying their needs and delivering effective tuition based on best possible learning techniques as well. My each hour class includes short written and/or oral revision from previous class and moving to a new class based on how well my student has done in the short revision test. In general, I also assess student's progress with a comprehensive written test with past exam questions in every weeks/classes. I am very happy that ALL the students I have tutored have done extremely well.

Personal Description:
I have been doing nothing but one-to-one private biology tuition, based in Oxford, for the past 23 years and am widely regarded as 'Oxford's Premier Biology Tutor'. I am now offering my services online nationally and worldwide via the medium of 'Scribblar' - an interactive online whiteboard with sound that is just as good as face-to-face tuition. I charge 60 per hour for face-to-face tuition (which I am planning on phasing-out very soon if possible) but only 45 per hour for online tuition worldwide.

Teaching Experience:

23 years of one-to-one tuition in A-level, IB and GCSE biology.

Tutoring Approach:

Stick to the specification. Do ALL the past paper questions and go through them with the mark schemes. Take the exam. and get on with your life.

I like to work in a very methodical and structured fashion and not confuse effective work with hard work. The students who say at the end "yes, I learned biology - but, better still I learned how to study" are the ones with whom I know I have really succeeded.

All that you need to bring to tutorials is a thin A4 ring binder with a copy of the specification punched and put into the front and some colored dividers in the back. If you are a retake student I ask you to highlight the specification in yellow with solid highlighter if you are quite happy with the content; dotted highlighter if you are a bit unhappy with it and no highlighter if you have not done it or have forgotten it. This will tell me where to start and I can estimate to within an hour or so how many lessons will be needed to 'reteach' the syllabus. Effectively I write a textbook for you and give you notes (to be filed in the colored dividers) to fill in any gaps in your knowledge. As I cover the specification I highlight it in pink so that you (and your parents) can see progress. I have CDs of questions that you can work through - each CD is specific to one exam. board and contains not only the most recent AS/A2 papers and mark schemes but also the preceding 19 years of papers for that board, chopped up into topic headings. So, for example, it will take an hour to 'cover' The Heart and then I'll give you the questions specifically on the heart on that board to do before the next tutorial. I will mark it in my own time and write in the missing key words. It is all very straightforward and actually rather less hard work than doing it in a slapdash, non-systematic fashion. The study skills that you will learn will stand you in good stead throughout life.

I can also advise on coursework/practicals.

Although I live near Bicester I have teaching premises in North Oxford where I work weekdays until late.

Personal Description:
Hello.

My name is David and I have experience tutoring students of all age groups and levels. I have a Ph.D. in biology (genetics and ecology, specifically). I offer tuition at your home or online via Skype.

Teaching Experience:

I've tutored a number of students in GCSE and A Level biology, tailoring tuition to the students needs, whether it's focusing on understanding specific areas, practicing exam technique or revising.

As a university lecturer I have taught a broad range of biology subjects, including genetics, ecology, evolution, microbiology, human physiology, molecular biology and forensic biology, but I really enjoy teaching any aspect of it. I've tutored many undergraduates on exam technique and scientific writing and I've also helped run statistics workshops so can help in this area too if needed.

Tutoring Approach:

I am friendly, informal, approachable and enthusiastic. I am also very flexible, as every student is different and often require a different approach.

Studying can get pretty boring, especially if it's just learning to pass an exam rather than really understanding the subject. I prefer to take a creative and engaging approach to help my students gain the knowledge, understanding and writing skills to score brilliantly in their exams and also hope to impart some of my passion for the subject along the way.

Additionally, I have experience teaching students with learning difficulties.

Personal Description:
As a scientist I have had extensive experience of teaching in an academic and lab environment, alongside interactive science at festivals and museums. I have always enjoyed teaching and I am passionate about igniting curiosity about science in those whom I teach. I have worked on a professional and voluntary basis with children from primary school age all the way up to Masters degree level.

Science can be a daunting subject and I appreciate the need to build confidence by tailoring explanations to different levels of understanding, and different types of personality.

My own scientific knowledge comes from understanding a topic rather than parrot-fashion memorising, I believe this is the best long-term learning method and therefore I will use this approach where possible with my students by building up from the basics.

I am very supportive of questions as working in the scientific field has taught me that there are no stupid questions and I think that learning is more efficient when a student enjoys what they are being taught. I also like to incorporate every day examples as I believe this can make science topics come alive and become relevant to an individual.

Teaching Experience:

- Private Tuition (2013): Last summer I tutored two year 10 students in GCSE level chemistry, both of which had a notable increase in their grades. One student after only 1 month of tuition made the remarkable achievement of an increase in grades from 34% to 64%.
- Work Experience Weeks (2005-current): I have supervised 16 A-level/undergraduate students for a work experience week. This involves tours of the labs, explanation of the science behind certain experiments and how drug development works (with written materials), as well as supervision of experiments.
- MSc Workshop (2011-2014): I created materials and helped run a workshop in Protein Modelling for the UCL MSc Drug Design course.
- Cancer Research UK (2011): Made a video and helped the Science Communication team create an interactive game to help the public understand how drugs bind into proteins.
- Volunteer Usher at Cheltenham Science Festival (2008-current): In groups I have helped supervised school classes doing experiments such as making a hot air balloon from tissue paper, drawing organs on a t-shirt (primary school), extracting DNA from a strawberry, making paper model DNA and using chemistry modelling equipment (secondary school)
- Cardiff Science Week (2004-2007): Supervised students with various science exhibits such as fishing for insects from a pond (primary school) and making a cell from a balloon and popping it to look at the inside of the cell (secondary school).
- Science Writing (2008-current): Writing articles at Cheltenham Science Festival, for London Science Museum and the Royal Society (for non-scientists and Children) has greatly improved by ability to write materials for tutoring. I have a portfolio if you are interested in this work.

Tutoring Approach:

As well as the approach I discussed above I also provide and create my own teaching materials with visual and interactive aids. I prefer to familiarise myself with the school syllabus so I can tailor my tutoring to the pupil's needs.

For any older pupils I can also offer advice on careers as well as help with CVs/applications to university.

I can also on request do small fun "kitchen" experiments to inspire interest and excitement in science.

Personal Description:
I have been a tutor for over 5 years and have taught over 45 students in that time.
I am currently training to become a teacher, by studying towards a PGCE with the Open University.
I graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2010 with a M.Sci in Natural Science. I focus on improving confidence and question answering technique as well as fostering a deeper understanding of each topic. By relating theoretical concepts to everyday ideas, I help students find the common-sense structure hiding behind abstract numbers and theories. I also provide intensive exam preparation.

Teaching Experience:

From September 2011 - December 2012, I worked as an Editor at Boardworks in Oxford, a company that makes science and maths teaching resources for UK teachers and schools. This means I have a very clear understanding not only of the subjects and how to teach them, but also what is covered in school, by which exam boards and at what age, from 14 to 18 years. In December 2012, I left Boardworks in order to pursue a full-time career as a tutor, a choice that I continue to find incredibly rewarding and stimulating.

In the year between graduating and starting work at Boardworks, I held an number of education-related placements and internships, notably at University College London, in the Public Engagement Unit and as an Education Assistant in the Sedgwick Museum of Earth Science, Cambridge.

In 2010 I graduated from Queens' College, University of Cambridge with M.Sci in Natural Science. This course covered maths, physics, evolution and behaviour, paleontology, geochemistry, geophysics, climatology and geomorphology. This allows me to teach all science subjects to high level, and point out the links and relationships between the different sciences and maths.

Tutoring Approach:

I tailor each lesson to suit the student's needs. The first few lessons usually focus on getting to know the student and their strengths and weaknesses. I identify areas for improvement and use subsequent lessons to work on these, as well as ensuring that the student is comfortable with the whole of the syllabus. Closer to the exam season, we will focus on improving question technique and creating links across the curriculum.

Personal Description:
Currently I am a medical student at King's College London and I am also a tutor at an Ofsted registered tuition centre in Barking where I teach students of all ages. I had straight A's and A*'s in my GCSE exams and I achieved AAABB for my A-levels. I am a very enthusiastic, friendly and easily approachable person who gets along with new people very easily.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring for about 2 years now. I have taught Primary, Secondary and A-level students in these two years. I have also been teaching in different tuition centres where I have taught kids in small groups as well as One to One. I have also prepared primary school kids for 11+ Exams and SATs exams. I have enabled some of my students to excel so much that their school is making them do their GCSE Maths exam in year 9 instead of year 11.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to provide a solid grounding in the subject while paying close attention to the needs of the individual.
An initial meeting establishes the student's needs and the direction tuition should take, usually with a parent present. Then we begin work on a programme of study which focuses on filling gaps in knowledge and addressing any areas of weakness.I set regular homework and writing assignments - the quantity varying with how much time the student has - and give feedback the following session. I try to implement all of the above in a very friendly, positive and disciplined way making sure the child exceeds his potential.

Personal Description:
I am 25 years old and currently researching for a PhD at the MRC Centre for Neurodevelopmental Science, KCL. I have a bachelors in Natural Sciences from Cambridge university and a Masters in Research in the Neuroscience field at Imperial College.

I am bilingually fluent, speaking English and Cantonese Chinese, having lived in the UK from a young age. I am friendly, good with children and relatable with young adults.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience in tutoring children of all ages and teaching young adults at an Adult learning centre, including adults with learning difficulties. I currently tutor students ranging from year 6-Upper sixth form, for all maths and science subjects across various exam boards. I have been tutoring for more than 4 years and have consistently helped tutees to obtain satisfactory grades. I also take part in teaching at Sunday School and have experience with young children. I have a CRB check and would be happy to be checked again if necessary.

Tutoring Approach:

I consider myself to be professional but approachable. I am organised and my teaching is structured. I can either help with homework or cater for individual learning needs. I believe that understanding core concepts and their relevance is key, not only to good grades, but your child's enjoyment of the subject.
Teaching techniques can be adapted to suit the needs and learning style of your child and I have the patience to find out what works for your child, whether they are visual, auditory, and kinesthetic (tactile) learners.

Personal Description:
Third-Year Dentistry student at Queen Mary's Barts and the London School of Medicine & Dentistry.
My diligent, meticulous and altruistic persona, predominantly engendered from studying Dentistry, has made me keen on supporting and teaching ambitious students that need help with their education. My outstanding grades- achieving the highest grades in my year at high school and Sixth Form (A* in A2 Chemistry and full marks in GCSE Maths and Sciences) - have enabled me to attain various experience(s) in the teaching field. I've assisted students in the Student Iraqi Medical Association (SIMA) whom needed help with Medical and Dental personal statements and interviews, enriching their confidence and communication skills, which are vital for a healthcare degree. I focus not only on Dental and Medical applicants but on students of various ages, from a variety of ethnic backgrounds. I volunteered at a care home for the elderly with learning and physical disabilities and at Paint Pots Montessori creativity classes for kids (South Kensington). From this experience, I concluded that every child has the potential to surpass further and beyond education and I'm certain I will guide students to wherever they aspire to be.

Teaching Experience:

- Teacher assistant at a private school: Islamic Republic of Iran Private school (Maida Vale)
- Kumon Teaching Assistant
- Chemistry and Maths peer tutor in Sixth Form

Tutoring Approach:

My approach: Interactive, Intellectual and Inventive. I want my students to leave with a smile on their face, confident that they have benefited with my sessions. All students with different learning types and abilities are welcome. I'm adamant on crafting my teaching method(s) and lessons to my tutee's request.

Personal Description:
Hello, my name is Luis. I am a PhD candidate at the University of Aberdeen working on oil spills in the deep sea. I am from Spain and am very passionate about academia and learning in general.

My background is on oceanography, where I cover ecology (biology), ocean dynamics (physics) and sediment geochemistry (chemistry). Data interpreting is part of my research work and it involves statistics of academic level and mathematical modelling.

I collaborate with AU Science Magazine writing blog posts and editing articles. I am also involved in a Research Development initiative to create a collaborative framework within the University of Aberdeen for researchers and students alike.

Teaching Experience:

Since October 2014 I am a demonstrator at the University of Aberdeen, where I assist in courses on general biology and marine sciences, ecology and office software. I have ample tutoring experience from when I was at University in Spain and continue to tutor to this day. I was also a collaborating student at University in Spain where I prepared practical work for students.

I am a native Spanish speaker and whilst I have not tutored Spanish before, I have taught the language to many English speakers.

Tutoring Approach:

Where students find difficulties I like to break down concepts into simpler pieces that then assemble to represent the entire idea. I also think it is important to let the pupil know the purpose of these concepts in a wider context so that they can appreciate the value of learning the contents of the course.

Finally, I am an advocate of enjoying learning and always endeavour to make lessons as fun and interactive as possible.
