Choosing your tutor

Use our search form to quickly and easily find tutors in your area that meet your specific needs. This is achieved by our unique postcode search which ensures online tutors close to you are displayed for your chosen subject and level.

We have a wide range of tutors offering subjects in English and Math's as well as many others from primary level to GCSE, A-Level and up to degree level.

Our profiles invite tutors to declare:
  • Hourly rates
  • Qualifications
  • Approach to tutoring
  • CRB check status
  • Availability (day, evening or weekend)
Remember, these are self-declarations, so you should always ask to see the tutor's qualifications and CRB certificate in the first lesson as a matter of course.

You can contact up to four tutors at a time and where possible we would always recommend contacting more than one tutor.

Confirming your choice of tutor

You will then receive email notification as soon as your selected tutors confirm they are happy to commence tuition or answer your questions. All that remains is for you to accept their offer at which point we exchange tutor and tutee contact details on your behalf.

Our Fee

Only when your match is confirmed as satisfactory by you do we ask for £9.99 payable online by credit/debit card. This tiny fee is dramatically cheaper than tuition agency fees and reassures our tutors that their enquirer is a serious adult. We won't invite you to release the details until the tutor has confirmed they can meet your request.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. At what point do I have to pay? Only when you have chosen to accept a tutor's offer of tuition do we charge a £9.99 introduction fee. It is free to search, browse and contact tutors. You must pay your tutor their hourly rate directly. We ask that tutees please honour their commitment and arrange and pay for their first lesson with their selected tutor. This means the tutor's fees are always covered. Beyond this, your decision to continue with your tutor will obviously be a reflection of how well your first lesson progresses.
  2. Are you an agency? No, we differ from an agency in the following ways:
    • You can browse and select the tutor of your choice and communicate and discuss your needs directly.
    • We don’t perform CRB checks which means you must ask for any references your tutor offers.
  3. How can I find a tutor at UK Tutors? Our powerful search engine offers a quick and easy way to find a tutor that meets your needs. On the search page, enter your postcode, the subject and level you require and click on the search button, all tutors in your area that match your search criteria will be displayed. Click on each tutor's profile page to get more details.
  4. How do I contact the tutors? You can contact a prospective tutor free of charge by creating a tutee account. Once your tutor has received and accepted your request we will release their contact details at your request, conditional upon you paying a £9.99 fee. We also e-mail the tutor your details simultaneously so you can both contact one another.
  5. I have not heard from a tutor and wish to release their details. It may be your tutor is on holiday or temporarily unavailable. We contact all tutors as soon as you make your enquiry but cannot force them to respond. We would always recommend contacting more than one tutor.
  6. Who are the tutors on your website?
  7. Our tutors come from a wide range of sources. From our statistics, the main occupations of our tutors are:
  • Academic university/institutes lecturers
  • College teachers
  • Current or former university tutors
  • University students with good academic records
Others include people with specific knowledge and experience who consider tutoring as part-time or full time career. For example, guitar players, stage performers etc.

Please note that UK Tutors does not manually check qualifications of tutors. There is no minimum requirement to become a registered tutor on our site. As a result, anyone who believes he/she can teach is eligible to register as a tutor on our website. That's why it is important to read through the tutor's profiles and choose the most suitable one.
