Teaching Experience:

I have been working as a private Tutor since 2007, and am a member of a number of private tutoring companies. I have tutored in English Language, English Literature, Speech, Drama, Acting, Philosophy, Entrance Exams, and most primary subjects. Responsibilities are that of a Supply Teacher, being responsible for the learning and conduct of a whole class of students. Maintaining discipline and focus as well as being at all times a strong leader and role model were essential at all times.

- Monitoring attendance of learners and set appropriate targets.
- Invigilating examinations and mark work.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that Tutoring is first about personal connection. Any learning can only be achieved given a certain level of trust, which must be established in order to create a solid platform from which further learning can then flourish. Younger students are most open to absorbing information and should have the chance to take academic information and guidance from a range of people. This enhances the educational experiences and broadens the horizons of a student.

Having myself struggled with poor teachers, or unwieldy subject matter, I know that, with the right teachers, such areas can come alive. More clinical approaches to tutoring further separate students from the learning process. Having experienced one-to-one tuition myself, I have seen the many positives and potential pitfalls the system can bring. These experiences galvanize me and help me in my own tutoring. I relish taking what I have learnt, and the exciting methods by which I have learnt it, and passing that on to other students.

Regardless of the level taught, it is impossible to make real progress unless the student first has engagement and interest in the subject. I see my task as tutor as a process of invigorating the material for those studying.

My name is Phoebe, I'm a native Chinese speaker, who moved to England 12 years ago, I am now a British Citizen and have lived in Chesham for 8 years. I gained my MBA at The University of Leicester in 2002. My husband is British and is a Business Manager. We have a 8 years old daughter, called Annabel and a 2 years old daughter called Bella. Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience is : Teaching children, teenagers and adults. The lessons can be in groups or one on one. In groups you will gain from having more interaction with the other students. On the other hand, the one on one lesson can be tailored to your specific needs. Don't worry too much, as either way is good way to learn Chinese!

Teaching Experience:

I cannot claim to have many years of teaching experience - but that does mean that I am more familiar with the exam boards. I have tutored two tutees through uktutors.com: the 1st improved from an E to an A in 3 of the 4 units in A level Biology in just 4 weeks of tutoring and the 2nd from D to B in AS Maths!

I am more experienced in tutoring for sport. I coach rowing full-time in London and developing both athletes and other coaches within the team - so I am comfortable and competent in teaching environments. I use my own personal experiences from when I was a beginner to teach others.

Tutoring Approach:

Maximising marks in minimal time whatever your ability. The harder workers or clever students don't always get better marks. Strategy is the most important factor. Exam boards regulate exam papers to follow strict rules to such an extent that they can become predictable. If your strategy is right then the seemingly endless information in the sciences' syllabuses can be condensed to just a few A4 pages of understanding.

I believe in tailoring tutoring to the student because different people with different ambitions need different strategies to exceed them.

I have had work placements at Haydon Bridge High School teaching P.E to ages 13-18 for a period of 6 weeks, then assisting various classes for 75 hours over 4 months. I am currently emplyed as a classroom assistant at Queen Elizabeth High school. My main role is to work with one or two children with Special Educational Needs within the classroom supporting their learning. It is vital for my role that I understand and can teach the curriculum, as I may have to work outside the classroom with the child and will need to tutor them in that subject area. Tutoring Approach:

Every child is unique. They each have their own way of learning and have different abilities in a variety of areas. This can not always be addressed within a school environment, as it can be difficult to differentiate the topic which is being taught to a large number of pupils. I understand that each child will work at a different rate therefore my rate and style of teaching will alter to suit the student. I believe that tutoring is about guiding a child to find their own way towards an answer and not making them follow your way as they may not understand the process which you have followed. I can also comprehend the amount of work which students are having to complete weekly, thus I would not supply them with a large workload alongside their normal studies.

I have a very interactive and friendly approach to teaching. The structure of the courses is very clear from the beginning but, ultimately, the content and the pace of the lessons is always determined by the students. The emphasis is on having good fun while learning, and a lot of the material used in the lessons is original. As a native speaker, I always make sure that the learning experience also includes cultural aspects of the country. I am absolutely sure that you will enjoy the courses.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified teacher of Spanish and a native speaker of the language. For the last 23 years, I have taught Spanish at different Secondary schools in Kent. I have also taught the language privately to adults wanting to learn or improve their command of the language for business or holiday purposes, and also to young people wanting to improve their chances of a good GCSE or A Level grade in Spanish. I am an examiner for AQA and I have taught Spanish GCSE and A Level courses for Edexel and AQA for many years. So, I am very familiar with the course contents.

I have a BA Honours Degree in English Studies from Aleppo University in Syria in 2000. I embarked on two Postgraduate Diplomas at Aleppo University one in Linguistics (2002); the other in Education and Qualification in 2003. In both of these Diplomas I was awarded a Distinction. In 2002, I was fortunate in gaining a scholarship to study in the UK and was nominated to study in the department of Language and Linguistics at the University of Essex. I found this course to be immensely useful to me as a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) professional as I was able to observe a range of different EAP (English for Academic Purposes)classrooms; make academic presentations and really developed my love of scholarship which fired me with the enthusiasm to read for a PhD degree. I finished my doctorate in TESOL at the University of Ulster entitled "EAP Teachers Approaches to Giving Written Feedback on Academic Writing in British and Syrian ELT Centres". . I am extremely interested in teaching the language skills (as my recent doctorate shows). I am extremely hard working and sociable. I have good comparative knowledge of Western and Islamic societies which I could share with students where pertinent. I also have two qualifications from Ulster University in Peer Mentoring and Counselling.

I have strong interpersonal, communication, and classroom management skills and self-motivator. When I did my MA degree at Essex University, I taught some international students as part of the "Teaching Practice" module. I have been trained how to write a lesson plan for international students and how to use the PowerPoint for delivering lectures. Furthermore, I am very au fait with technology in the classroom.

Tutoring Approach:

It is the application of an integrating approach for the development of communicative skills in the lesson, in which the four skills in the acquisition of knowledge of a foreign language can be taught in a coherent way, and practiced together, with a distinction of the importance of one upon the other. One image for teaching English as a second or foreign language (ESL/EFL) is that of a tapestry. The tapestry is woven from many strands, such as the characteristics of the teacher, the learner, the setting, and the relevant languages (i.e., English and the native languages of the learners and the teacher). For the instructional loom to produce a large, strong, beautiful, colorful tapestry, all of these strands must be interwoven in positive ways. For example, the instructor's teaching style must address the learning style of the learner, the learner must be motivated, and the setting must provide resources and values that strongly support the teaching of the language. However, if the strands are not woven together effectively, the instructional loom is likely to produce something small, weak, ragged, and pale--not recognizable as a tapestry at all.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced Modern Foreign Language tutor based in Cardiff. I can teach Mandarin and Spanish languages to people of all ages and levels.

The place that I use to teach is near Cardiff City Centre, it is a quiet and comfortable location. However, I can also travel to you if your residence is not too far from me.

Mandarin:

- The first lesson is FREE. We can discuss your learning purpose and interests. It is also an opportunity for me to learn your language level.

- As a foreign language student before, I know some common errors that a language learner can make. Therefore, I have designed my own teaching materials to help my students to learn more efficiently. In addition, I can adapt my lessons to students' needs.

Teaching Experience:

I have had experience tutoring GCSE maths and A Level Maths and Further for the last summer in London. I also tutored KS3 students whilst in my sixth form.
I will be most keen to apply as a tutor the learning and teaching techniques that I have found to be effective whilst as a student.

Online Experience:
-Tutored a International Chinese Student applying for maths at Oxford during summer of 2015 via "Teamviewer"(student received offer to read maths at University of Oxford)
-I have had much experience learning online as a student- mostly when I was applying to university myself. I often watched videos such as Khan Academy so I know what a great online learning experience feels like. Even now while at university I regularly use things like MIT opencourseware for video lectures and the slightly more interactive format too to supplement my live classes, tutorials and lectures.
I will be most keen to apply as a tutor the learning and teaching techniques that I have found to be effective whilst as a student.

Tutoring Approach:

Friendly and very encouraging. I have had experience giving remedial lessons to younger students falling a little behind at school and also to stronger students so can adapt approach well. One challenge is students who doubt their abilities or are afraid to get a question wrong. I constantly encourage that mistakes are okay, and they shouldn`t be afraid to tackle a difficult problem. I often find that it takes a lot of experimenting with stupid, less fruitful ideas in order to reach a brilliant one. Prompt when stuck and hold belief that it is the journey to solving the problem that is most important than the final answer and most fun of course :) Despite being guilty of not doing this many times in my young mathematical career- It is important to realise that Mathematics is not a spectator sport- much of learning comes from actively solving many problems and having bravery to explore the subject alone sometimes.
