Personal Description:
I am a reliable and patient person with a likeable personality who relates well to both children and adults. I am conscientious and will discuss all matters with the parents/adult student at home in an informal chat before commencing any teaching sessions. I have a current CRB and I always have a file with this and my qualifications for you to inspect prior to beginning teaching with you. I have a number of private pupils in Stockton, Billingham, Redcar and Middlesbrough, whose parents are more than happy to provide a reference if required.

In 2006 I was one of ten finalists in a national teaching award - QIA STAR Awards.

I have an office in the Elmwood Centre but I also travel around the Cleveland area on some days of the week. This can be by arrangement.

Teaching Experience:

I have 24 years teaching experience, with the last fifteen years teaching English, literacy and creative writing; also, six of the last fifteen years teaching numeracy/maths and ESOL. I have experience in teaching both children and adults, and teaching English to people who are learning English as a second language.

My experience is both classroom based and one-to-one teaching. In addition to being qualified in English, Creative Writing, Maths and ESOL, I am also qualified in supporting learners with dyslexia.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to make learning fun, as I believe this will develop a love of learning which will last into adulthood. I use multi-sensory resources, as well as a computer, to enable students to grasp the necessary basic rules of literacy and numeracy. For younger children I will often make, or bring a game that will have a serious learning point to it, although the children do not always realise this.

I am patient and allow all learners to develop their understanding and confidence in literacy and numeracy by giving them time for questions, explanation and discussion. I also believe that giving praise to someone for trying to answer, even if the answer is incorrect, is really important - the fact they have tried means they are willing to learn - this is the one key requirement to building knowledge and confidence in any subject.

Personal Description:
I have a background in senior industrial and commercial management, both in the UK and overseas; also senior experience in the public sector (local government and NHS). I took time out in my thirties to gain my PGCE.

Teaching Experience:

I have never taught full-time (although I was once up to around two-thirds of a full timetable). I have worked in further education colleges and as a supply-teacher, mostly in secondary. In addition, I have long experience as a governor of my old private-sector school, so understand very well the requirements for successful 11+ and 13+ entrance. I have been tutoring since 2000, and have a multitude of "success-stories".

Tutoring Approach:

First and foremost: flexibility. Equally, I have a wealth of life-experience, across sectors, so can, as my students have often remarked, bring subjects to life: they are seldom bored, if ever. I also have a large stock of teaching resources and past examination-papers and tests. I combine light-heartedness and a level of informality with a focus on the need to meet objectives and achieve results(sometimes having set them).

Personal Description:
Having a doctorate in Applied Mathematics and after teaching at university level for 16 years (still counting), my passion towards mathematics encouraged me to motivate much younger students in schools towards this extra-ordinary subject of Mathematics. With this idea, I successfully completed my PGCE from Institute of Education, University of London and am currently teaching in an outstanding school in North-West London. Here, I teach all abilities and all year groups in Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. I am also a tutor for a group of 30 students who are currently in year 7. This includes pastoral care as well as looking after their academic progress. I have been able to develop an in-depth knowledge of the Mathematics curriculum including 11+ and keep myself updated with all the changes happening in the UK education system to ensure that my students receive the correct guidance and support. I specialise in teaching applied and engineering mathematics.

Teaching Experience:

I have 16 years of teaching experience at various level and my students range from teenagers to adult learners. Teaching is my passion and life-long career and I am providing private tutoring for about four years.

GCSE Mathematics: All exam boards
A Levels: All exam boards
Mathematics for BTech and Engineering diploma
Mathematics at higher level, including mathematical modelling

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that every student is capable of understanding this beautiful subject, all your child needs is a tutor/mentor who can understand her/his current abilities, future targets and how best she/he can achieve them; and just guide through to the success. Once they get the correct support and work ethic, they are bound to shine as a star. I will spend time with your child and design an individual teaching programme that suits their needs and abilities. They will not only be able to develop their strengths in the subject but also be able to fill the gaps in their knowledge. As a full time Mathematics teacher, I can ensure that you will get a dedicated tutor who is trained in one of the UK's best universities and is practicing teaching mathematics in one of the outstanding schools in the country.

Personal Description:
Originally from Leeds, where I have a decade of teaching and tutoring experience, I like to keep things positive, upbeat, friendly and fun whenever possible.I am currently working for Sustrans delivering safe cycling training in schools and community groups all around the region. I enjoy sport, reading and music, I play a bit of guitar and love to cycle, so much so, I may well turn up to our session on my bike!

Teaching Experience:

I have taught Maths at Leeds City College for 10 years, receiving consistently good annual lesson observation results. I delivered classes at all levels from Entry 1 to Level 2 Functional Skills Numeracy and Foundation and Higher Level GCSE. Along side this, I enjoyed tutoring many students at KS2, KS3, GCSE and A Level. I also worked with learners looking to improve their Maths for related areas of study such as Engineering and Accountancy.

Tutoring Approach:

The most important aspect of a tutoring relationship is communication. The freedom to ask questions, seek clarification and repeat examples and exercises until a topic or concept is fully consolidated is the primary benefit of a private tutoring arrangement. I am flexible to the needs of my students and enjoy the challenge of finding solutions to learners' problems.

Personal Description:
I am a Tutor in English for Academic Purposes at a large UK university. In this role I teach both Academic English and General English.

Over the past thirteen years I have taught in the UK, Italy and Libya. I have taught in private schools, state schools and universities. In addition, I have taught students of all levels from beginners to advanced and all ages from 3 to adult.

I am an experienced online tutor with over 250 hours taught via Skype.

Teaching Experience:

Lecturer in English for Academic Purposes at the University of South Wales (5 years)

Teacher Trainer/English Teacher British Council Libya (3 years)

British Institutes Trento, Italy (2 years)

Private tutor in TESOL (2 years)

Cambridge IELTS examiner

Cambridge IGCSE Assistant Examiner

General English, Academic English and English for Specific Purposes (e.g. Business English)

Tutoring British and European History ages 11-18 (UK)

Tutoring Approach:

In teaching English as a foreign language I follow the communicative approach. This means plenty of communication between the student and tutor, rather than spending the whole lesson working through grammar exercises.

My lessons are student centred, which means that each lesson is about the student. My materials are carefully tailored to the individual student and not a 'one text fits all' course book. I try to make my lessons relevant to my student's needs, for example, if you are a chef I base my lessons on cookery; if you work in a shop I base my lessons around retail; and if you are studying for IELTS or residency, I will tutor you for that. Just tell me what you want to do and I will do my very best to help you realise your dream.

Personal Description:
I am a friendly and enthusiastic Oxbridge graduate with a Masters in Earth Sciences (Geology).

Since 2014 I have been working as a Geoscientist in a consultancy, which has provided me with solid communication skills when discussing technical work.

Teaching Experience:

In my last year of school I took part in a scheme which involved acting as a teaching assistant to year 8 students. I would spend a couple of hours each week supporting and helping students with in a variety of classes.

Tutoring Approach:

I apply the tutoring methodology I experienced during Oxford. This involves encouraging students to arrive at conclusions themselves rather than tell them the answers to each question. This builds up a deeper understanding of the topics and will allow them to enter the exam room with the confidence of knowing they possess all the information they need to answer any question which may come up, rather than worrying in case this years paper differs from the examples they have worked through.
