Personal Description:
I am in my fifties and live in Shoreham by Sea. I can travel to see you within the Brighton and Worthing areas.

I am an experienced and fully qualified teacher of English (Key Stage 2/3, GCSE or As/A2 level English Language /Literature), English as a Foreign Language examinations (IELTS or Cambridge First, Advanced or Proficiency). I also offer support for essay writing or study skills at university level and can help those on teacher training courses. I have previously studied Drama and Media, so I can teach these subjects for GCSE as well.

As well as doing a small amount of private tutoring, I am the director of studies at a local school and also write up critiques for creative writing for two well known colleges that take assignments by correspondence.

I also have an MA in Creative Writing and have had poems published including two books. I am able to give critiques for poetry or stories that you have written.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching English for 15 years. This has been both in Further Education and at private colleges. I now work in private education. I also have extensive experience of one-to one tutoring having visited many students in the Worthing to Brighton areas over the last ten years.

Teaching on Skype is relatively new but I started back in 2006, so I have gained experience of this from the onset and thoroughly enjoy meeting my students who live all around the world. On Skype I offer a free 20 minute introductory session. I am happy to spend some time discussing the concept of learning on the computer, so that you can decide if it is the right option for you.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a friendly manner and approach to tutoring and believe that a good working relationship with the student is important.

Personal Description:
After completing a BA honours degree at Leeds University, I decided to pursue a career in acting. I trained at LAMDA, and since 2007 have worked as a professional actor in a wide variety of theatre roles. I have worked with a large number of directors and learnt a range of skills and techniques that I am now able to share with my tutees.

I received a first class degree in English & Philosophy from Leeds University. Combined with my continuing interest in language and literature through my chosen career as an actor, this also makes me an excellent tutor for GCSE or A-Level English studies.

Teaching Experience:

I have successfully helped several people get into accredited drama schools and worked on audition speeches with a wide variety of people of different ages and ability. I have also run drama and music workshops for a variety of age groups, mainly focusing on Shakespeare, and particularly in conjunction with Propeller Theatre Company.

Tutoring Approach:

If you need, I can help you to choose suitable audition speeches and give you advice on what to expect from the audition process. Then we will begin to work on your speeches, making them interesting and unique to you. We will make sure that if you are applying to drama school you show versatility, or if it is a one-off audition we work to your strengths.

Acting is incredibly subjective and every performer is different. I will let you know what you do well naturally, and then find areas in which you can improve, going at whatever pace you are comfortable with.

I am happy to do a one-off session of an hour or two on a speech, or work with you periodically through an audition season for drama school. The audition process can be nerve-wracking and I like to come to your home where you are comfortable so that we can get the best out of you.

For English tuition, I can help with essay structure, analysing and critiquing classical as well as modern texts, or help you to understand literary concepts or aspects of English language that might be difficult for you at the moment. Basically, whatever you feel you need help with - I'm very flexible!

Please drop me an email or give me a call and we can talk about whether my tutoring style is suitable to your needs.

Native Spanish speaker also fluent in English who enjoys working in an environment where she can provide a service. Master's level teacher recently qualified in latest Spanish teaching techniques at London's leading language school. Born 2 March 1960. Fluent in English and Spanish both written and verbal. Colombian national settled long-term in the UK.

Teaching Experience:

2011-Self-employed Spanish tutor, London
2009-2011 Personal carer for an elderly person, London
2004-2008 Teacher (for adults in Ethics, Customer Service, Communication, Spanish and English) at SENA (National Service for Learning), Manizales, Colombia
1984-2003 Various teaching posts at all levels including six months at the University of Caldas and two years at the Autonoma University of Manizales in Colombia

Tutoring Approach:

I offer tailored one-to-one Spanish tuition or teach small groups of students at a similar level and with similar needs, from true beginners to advanced and from schoolchildren studying for GCSE to professionals looking to improve their business Spanish. Approaches, programme and location adapted to each individual's requirements, proficiency and the demands of busy, changeable schedules. An initial diagnosis lesson will enable us to assess and adapt to your level and needs.
I am flexible, patient, organised, punctual, hard working and respectful to different points of view, skilled at stimulating and maintaining the interest of individuals or groups and in preparing and adapting teaching materials to support dynamic and meaningful student-centred learning.
Keeping a daily record enables you to assess your progress in relation to your objectives. This is best done as joint exercise based on your self-assessment, peer assessment and my feedback. The effect is to enable and encourage students to take responsibility for their own learning and (if learning in groups) to help fellow students do the same; they become the active and informed 'owners' of their achievements.

Personal Description:
18/03 - Please note that on UK Tutors as both student and tutor to pay a fee before addresses can be exchanged. I have had quite a few people think that I profit from this fee but I really do not, I too have to pay a fee between £10-£20.

I am a graduate of University of Nottingham where I studied Biochemistry and Genetics. I am looking to hopefully teach A-level students that require help to get a better grade. I am also happy to teach younger students.

As of September 2014 - Sept 2015, I will be studying my Masters at Regent`s University, London. I will be commuting to London daily which may take up my time, please be aware of this when contacting me. I would like to ask students to be flexible during certain times of the year due to study assignments.

With regard to my CRB check, I was checked in 2008 by Willen Hospice as well as by Stoke Mandeville Hospital in 2013.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught on total, over 20 students studying GCSE and A-level Biology/Chemistry/Maths on either AQA or OCR exam boards.

I teach Sunday to Thursday from 4pm to 9pm
Currently (10/03/2015 ) I am available to teach at these times:
Monday: Unavailable
Tuesday: Unavailable
Wednesday: 9-10
Thursday: 7:30-9:30
Sunday: 7-9

Tutoring Approach:

After teaching solidly since November 2012, I have been able to further develop my teaching skills. To begin, I start with revision techniques, worksheets and make new, very detailed, class/revision notes with my students. After developing a solid understanding, I begin with exam questions as I have been able to collect a solid amount of questions (exam and school questions). Every lesson, I print out worksheets and notes for my students as well as give them homework. Essentially, what I offer are school lessons that are more detailed and focused than what they receive in school. Through these methods, I am able to thoroughly assess a student's abilities, increase them and hopefully better their grades. However, I stress, students must work hard themselves to achieve good grades.

Parents often ask me about discount, I am happy to discuss this for long-term students and 2 hours lessons

School Holiday (Easter, Summer and Christmas) - 20% off two hour lessons
A Level: £60 to £48
GCSE: £50 to £40

Group Lessons:
2 people - 20% off (£24/£20 per person)
3 people - 30% off (£21/£17.50 each person)

Personal Description:
My name is Natalia and I am native Spanish and have been living in the UK for the past 5 years. I studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nottingham and currently work in Warwickshire as a User Interface Designer. I love languages, and I have always enjoyed teaching Spanish to others, as I think it is a very rich language.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience teaching groups as well as individuals. I have tutored adults individually when I was living in Germany as well as in the UK. I have also taught Spanish to groups from the Hispanic Society at University.

Tutoring Approach:

I am open to any way of teaching - whatever suits the student best. I believe that speaking and practising is the best way of learning, yet make strong emphasis in learning the grammar, as it is the basis to a good use of any language.

Fun and dynamics should be involved in the teaching. I won't be giving you fill-in-the-gap exercises to complete only!

Personal Description:
I am an Imperial College graduate in Biomedical Engineering (masters).
I was born in Italy from Italian parents, but have lived in the UK since I was 6 years old (I'm perfectly bilingual). I attended the European School in Culham, near Oxford, before moving to London for university.
I am a friendly and outgoing person, when I'm not busy with uni work I like to be in the company of friends, enjoy cinema, live music and playing/watching sports, particularly football and squash.

Teaching Experience:

Over my first two years at university, I helped some As and A-level students from my old school, especially during their exam period (i.e.: one on one revision sessions, helping out with coursework and writing sets of revision notes) in Maths, Biology and Physics.
Early in 2011 I joined the Blue Tutors agency, where my teaching skills were assessed and received full accreditation.
In October 2013 I did weekly one-on-one GCSE maths lessons for the month leading up to an exam. As well as the lessons I made revision notes for the student, whose mark increased from C- to B.
From January to April 2014 I was Project Coordinator and voluntary teacher in weekly extra curricular activity "Code Club", a basic computer programming workshop at Pimlico Academy. Generally about a dozen 13-14 year old students attended.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is generally quite friendly: I believe that at a subconscious level, a student will be much more inclined to listen to and learn from a person they trust and appreciate. However, I also believe the teaching style must be suited to the student, and largely depends on the subject being taught.
A particular technique which I have learnt from Blue Tutors and have tried to implement ever since, is to try and lead the student to the answer by asking the right questions, rather than just giving him the answer.

Personal Description:
I graduated from the London School of Economics in 2005 with a Bsc in Government and Politics (2:1). I then worked in the public sector, and later in supported housing, until 2013 when I began a PGCE in Primary Education at Manchester Metropolitan University. During the PGCE I worked in schools in Stockport and Tameside and was graded as Outstanding for my teaching practice. I completed the PGCE in June 2014 and will begin working as a Year 5 teacher at a school in Central Manchester in September.

I cover the whole curriculum with a particular focus on numeracy and literacy.

Teaching Experience:

During the PGCE I worked as a Year 5 teacher at a school in Stockport and as a Year 3 teacher in Tameside, for four months in both instances. I was awarded Outstanding for my teaching practice at the end of the PGCE. I also volunteered as a classroom assistant across key stages one and two prior to starting the PGCE. I will start working as a Year 5 teacher in September and have begun planning for the new National Curriculum which is effective from the new academic year.

Tutoring Approach:

I work with the tutee and parent to identify strengths and areas for improvement. I then develop a programme of study that is specific to the tutee's needs and which draws on the tutee's preferred style of learning. This can involve practical work, use of multimedia and investigations. I use informal assessment within sessions, and formal assessment afterwards, to record progress which can then be fed back to the tutee and parent. This assessment for learning, and assessment of learning, feeds into planning for future sessions and ensures that learning is personalised and relevant.

I strive to ensure that each tutee makes Outstanding progress within each session and I believe that an ongoing dialogue between myself, the tutee and the parent is fundamental to achieving this.

Personal Description:
I am Biology graduate from University of Bristol. I graduated from there 3 years ago, and after a year of travelling, I have been teaching ever since. Currently based in Battersea, but am willing to travel out to clients, as well as tutoring near work (West London).

Teaching Experience:

I am currently a Science teacher at an Academy based in West London (Feltham) where I have been for 2 years, teaching classes through KS3, KS4 and A level. I am in my final year of the Teach First programme from which I received my PGCE at the end of the last academic year. I have been private tutoring for over a year.

Tutoring Approach:

I have great enthusiasm for the subjects that I teach and I believe this has a real impact on my tutoring. My teaching approach is personalised to suit individual needs and styles of learning. I have strong subject knowledge and being able to provide clear and concise explanations for less familiar concepts. We will work together to improve confidence with trickier concepts and set targets for areas that need improvement.
