Personal Description:
After completing a BA honours degree at Leeds University, I decided to pursue a career in acting. I trained at LAMDA, and since 2007 have worked as a professional actor in a wide variety of theatre roles. I have worked with a large number of directors and learnt a range of skills and techniques that I am now able to share with my tutees.

I received a first class degree in English & Philosophy from Leeds University. Combined with my continuing interest in language and literature through my chosen career as an actor, this also makes me an excellent tutor for GCSE or A-Level English studies.

Teaching Experience:

I have successfully helped several people get into accredited drama schools and worked on audition speeches with a wide variety of people of different ages and ability. I have also run drama and music workshops for a variety of age groups, mainly focusing on Shakespeare, and particularly in conjunction with Propeller Theatre Company.

Tutoring Approach:

If you need, I can help you to choose suitable audition speeches and give you advice on what to expect from the audition process. Then we will begin to work on your speeches, making them interesting and unique to you. We will make sure that if you are applying to drama school you show versatility, or if it is a one-off audition we work to your strengths.

Acting is incredibly subjective and every performer is different. I will let you know what you do well naturally, and then find areas in which you can improve, going at whatever pace you are comfortable with.

I am happy to do a one-off session of an hour or two on a speech, or work with you periodically through an audition season for drama school. The audition process can be nerve-wracking and I like to come to your home where you are comfortable so that we can get the best out of you.

For English tuition, I can help with essay structure, analysing and critiquing classical as well as modern texts, or help you to understand literary concepts or aspects of English language that might be difficult for you at the moment. Basically, whatever you feel you need help with - I'm very flexible!

Please drop me an email or give me a call and we can talk about whether my tutoring style is suitable to your needs.

Personal Description:
I am an undergraduate studying Engineering Science at the University of Oxford. I have recently completed my first year of study of a four-year course, gaining a distinction in the process. My academic results have been consistently excellent, providing me with a firm understanding of my chosen subjects.
I enjoy engaging people with new and potentially challenging ideas, encouraging them to progress academically. The exchange of ideas between tutor and tutee is something that I particularly enjoy and continue to focus on.

Teaching Experience:

My most notable tutoring experience was tutoring a young person, in Key Stage 3, in their studies for four to six hours a week for about two years. I was paid to tutor in all his subjects and my work mostly consisted of expanding on the syllabus, reviewing his homework and preparing him for tests. The tutee was not of English origin and a significant part of my work included improving his English. The pupil achieved top set for all his subjects as well as consistently high grades.
Secondly, I have gained tutoring experience overseeing a group of around twenty male pupils in Key Stage 2 and 3, providing constructive help with their homework and classwork. This was done for one hour per week for approximately six months as part of a Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award. A key part of this experience was keeping the boys on task and focused.
Thirdly, I spent two years in the RAF Combined Cadet Force during sixth form where I rose to the rank of Sergeant. As a senior cadre, I was expected to do numerous presentations to the cadets informing them on the ethics, workings and history of the RAF as well as some of the principles of flight and navigation. This particularly provided me with great confidence to not only engage a variety of people but also communicated difficult and at times relatively dry subjects.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is fundamentally based on incentive and reward. I believe a small bribe of chocolate biscuits, gold stars etc. can go a long way towards motivating the tutee. I also aim to provide inventive exercises for the pupil, for example, with my young male tutee an exercise in learning vocabulary would be turned into some sort of game, typically with a small competitive element added in.
Ultimately, I wish for the tutee to gain an interest in a particular field of study and by presenting topics in an interesting light I feel they are able to do so.

Personal Description:
I am a undergraduate student at the University of East Anglia studying American and English Literature.

I am studious and hard working as displayed through my grades so far and currently, I am working between a 2:1 and 1st level in my degree. Academics aside, I work well with others and I have a close group of friends. I used to be an explorer scout leader which is where I gained lots of my teaching experience.

Teaching Experience:

- I have taught online via video call for over a year
- I have a level 2 qualification in counselling concepts
- I tutored GCSE English at Skipton Girls' Grammar School for 2 years
- I was an explorer scout leader for 3 years before starting university
- I have 3 A levels including an A in English Literature.
- I also completed the AQA Baccalaureate extended project by tackling the question- 'By studying American literature is it fair to say the American dream turned in to a nightmare?' I received an A* qualification for this.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to find out which aspects of the subject my tutee is struggling with e.g. - paragraphing, sentence construction etc and then I suggest methods of overcoming the problem e.g. - worksheets, verbal exercises etc. I believe through communication with my tutee I can grasp what it is they are finding difficult and find a solution to help. Often I try different approaches to a question/issue to see which proves more effective.I discuss goals and targets with both the student and parents (if appropriate) in an initial session and hopefully you will see progression after a couple of sessions. I have a friendly and relaxed teaching manner and I aim to engage students by teaching my subjects using a range of visual, audio and kinaesthetic approaches alongside more traditional teaching methods.

Personal Description:
I am a final year undergraduate student studying for an Bsc in Geophysics at Imperial College London. Alongside my studies I am also involved with charity work, play the violin in one of my university's orchestras and enjoy a variety of different types of sport. I would like to think I am friendly and approachable, and highly motivated to achieve in everything I do.

Teaching Experience:

I have 2 years of tutoring experience, especially with both maths and physics GCSE. Aside from private tutoring I volunteered for a tutoring scheme run by my university called 'Team Up', which will gave me invaluable experience and practice at tutoring Year 8 students in KS3 Science. For part of this I attended a short course run by Teach First on how to become a better tutor and have had a CRB check performed.

In past years I have also volunteered for a local Geological Trust, which involved in taking part in 'Geological Road shows' and trying to engage children with geology using activities, workshops, games etc. I have also completed a weeks work experience in a local Primary School, where I shadowed a Year 4 teacher and took charge of small groups in need of extra support.

I have also been an active member in Girl Guiding for numerous years, and have taken many leadership roles. These include being a young leader at a local brownie and rainbow group (aged mainly between 5-10 years old) for the last two years; and although out of a formal teaching environment, it was a role of responsibility and has given me more experience engaging with young children.

In my secondary school I also took part in a weekly music mentoring workshop for several years to help teach younger students how to play string instruments, mainly the violin. Though hard work I found this thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding; especially when some of my students went on to attend paid lessons and take graded examinations.

Tutoring Approach:

I always aim to engage with my students and attempt to make learning as interesting and stimulating as possible. I also believe that recapping previously covered material through short sessions each week can help the student to retain and recall information more easily - and make pre-exam revision less daunting.

As I have only recently completed my A-Levels I feel that I am in a very good position to help students within the education system, as I have first-hand experience. I believe good exam technique can be hugely beneficial to students sitting national qualifications, and I would be able to pass on my experience in dealing with examinations to your child. Organisation is also an important skill, not only whilst at school but for future life, and I would again hope to pass on this attribute to your son or daughter; helping them learn to plan their study time and revision.

Personal Description:
My name is Suzanne and I am 39 years old. I have a degree from Oxford University in French and Linguistics and a PGCE from Queen's in Belfast. I am half French and have lived in France and Belgium. I have always loved language-learning and am passionate to communicate to others the benefits of being able to speak another language. It opens our horizons and makes travel abroad much more rewarding. I have a wide range of teaching experience and love what I do.

Teaching Experience:

I taught in secondary schools for five years in Oxford and London. I had classes in French from Key Stage 3 - 5; German at KS 3 - 4 and English at KS 3 and 4. After a break of a number of years to be with my children, I set up as a private tutor and have been running a successful business since 2008. I have done sessions with large and small groups in nurseries and run after-school groups for primary-age children, including families with siblings of different ages. I have tutored all the main exam boards at GCSE and A level for French, as well as 13+ scholarship papers for Independent Schools boards. I have coached adults studying for Open University and worked with many adults of all levels on conversational French and German. I am familiar with the methodology and course material used in schools and am well practised in helping students to fill in gaps and to feel more at ease in these subjects.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to make the sessions as enjoyable as possible, while making sure we maximise the use of time to target the specific skills area. We all learn best when we feel relaxed and motivated. For younger learners, I use a lot of games, songs and stories. When it comes to students, I make sure I find out exactly which areas they are most concerned about and make a plan with them as to how we will work. Building confidence is usually a key area of development. One-to-one lessons are ideal for consolidating grammar points or practising assessment pieces, especially orals in languages. For adults, I take my lead from the preferences of the client, but I like to use cultural material such as music, video and current affairs. I use a wide range of support material and am always looking into new resources. I make sure my lessons are varied and relevant.

Personal Description:
Hi there! I`m a young professional drummer based in London. I am an enthusiastic and down to earth educator and have been providing drum tutoring for a number of years to all ages and abilities. I cover a wide range of styles and techniques, providing my students with the best tools to achieve their full potential.

I am happily married to my wife Ruth and love music, motor racing, films and good coffee! Thank you very much for your time.

Teaching Experience:

I received private drum tuition myself for a number of years from an excellent educator. I have been teaching drums to young children, teenagers and adults for over 4 years. I have taught classes at professional music schools, and provided one to one tuition as well. I have lots of experience reading and writing drum music, have been a professional musician for 10 years, and love it!

Tutoring Approach:

I have a thorough and practical approach to teaching. I believe in my students setting their own goals (with some suggestions from me), whilst encouraging and equipping them to achieve their best. I use a very down to earth and open approach to education. I hope to develop an excellent rapport with any student, so they can share their own goals and musical aspirations, so we can work together to achieve them. I am keen for my students to pursue practice in their own time, and provide them with the encouragement and inspiration to make that happen. I aim to build my students confidence greatly on the instrument, and give them a sense of real accomplishment in music.

I don`t currently have a CRB check, but am more than happy to get one. I`ve been a member of the musicians union for many years, and can offer a great insight into the world of music through a professional`s eyes.

Personal Description:
I am very passionate about films, theatre, the media industry. I am currently in my second year of a BA Hons in Film Studies at Edge Hill University, living away from home during the week but always available on weekends. I am hardworking, dedicated to my studies and after my undergraduate degree I am hoping to continue my studies with a Masters degree.

I also love to learn languages, currently able to speak 4 fluently (English, Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi) and also learning Spanish in my free time.

Teaching Experience:

I have a younger sister who is following my path into Film Studies, not knowing a thing before starting her A Level in it she is now predicted an A*. I have held short after school lessons for her and other family members in this particular field and the outcome has always been satisfying.

I have also started my TEFL course (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) which helps me gain a qualification in teaching the English language.

Tutoring Approach:

The lessons will be about the student, and not the teacher. Therefore everything will be tailored to areas you wish to improve (spoken communication, written skills, reading, accent, listening)

I have a calm and relaxed approach to tutoring, understanding the problems and weaknesses in people and using those to bring out the best in them. If I can see passion within the student then I will do my personal best to bring out the potential in my students.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced and enthusiastic French teacher and tutor. I have been a French tutor for over twelve years and I have found that my work teaching in UK schools up to Advanced Highers (or A level) and my work as an examiner really helps me to design tailor made lessons. I have a proven track record - my tutoring really does help learners to achieve their language learning goals. I used to live near Lille, and then in Antibes in the south of France, and regularly visit to keep my knowledge and skills up to date.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored for over twelve years, and after completing my languages degree in 2002, I then continued to do a postgraduate teaching qualification, and I have been a French teacher and tutor ever since! I have experience teaching learners who would like to achieve success in exams, or those wishing to develop holiday, conversational or business French.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very enthusiastic and friendly. I find that my experience has led me to develop approaches to learning that are easy to understand and give learners the confidence and knowledge that they need to progress.

I like to develop tailor made lessons for each learner, and I feel that this is key - each learner is different and it is important for them to feel confident about their learning goals.
