| Personal Description: I am currently teaching in a reputable London school and have experience with tutoring in Mathematics. I have had many regular clients and have seen them through their school years with success. I am originally from Australia (don't fear - the Maths is exactly the same there!) and have a good rapport with young people. I am 31, friendly, professional and approachable. |
Teaching Experience: I have taught for 8 years and have tutored in my spare time for most of those years. I have Qualified Teacher Status in the UK so am familiar with all the policies/examination boards etc. I am currently teaching Mathematics at Year 8, 9, 10, 11 and also AS Statistics and A2 Core 1/2 Mathematics. I have excellent knowledge of all Mathematical topics and use my Psychology background to help students remember mathematical facts. |
Tutoring Approach: I am able to work with the individual student on their weaknesses and improve their strengths. I am a good listener and am able to determine what kind of explanations will suit each student. I am able to explain things in a variety of ways and my previous clients have all said how 'easy' it is to do Maths with my help and how they find Maths classes more enjoyable and 'do-able'. I generally revise the students' current work, and 'pre-teach' what is going to come next to give them confidence to complete class work with more success. Please do not hesitate to call if you would like to talk to ask for further details. |

| Personal Description: I am a retired teacher living in Prestwick who has been tutoring primary children locally for the past three years. I have also been working in schools developing a children's character called 'pod-Inter Galactic Traveller' who brings comfort to children in unsettling situations as well as teaching children about what we should be doing to save the planet. The Children's BBC Scotland unit filmed one of my lessons in a school in North Ayrshire. The 'Millennium Mission' section of my website has been declared one of the best for teaching young children about the solar system by 'ICT Education' magazine. I am in possession of an 'Enhanced Disclosure Scotland' certificate. I am also presently working on a new concept of 'Picture in Your Mind' books which stimulate children's imagination and allow them to become illustrators of their own books. |
Teaching Experience: I originally taught primary school children in Scotland before moving to South Africa where I also taught primary children as well as EFL and Special Needs. I then moved to work in the Kalahari Desert of Botswana and was responsible for developing and running a new early years unit for a Debeers Diamond mining community. Returning to UK, I first worked at an inner city primary school before returning to Scotland. Here I set up an adult learning unit then returned to work at an international school in London where I again set up a new early years department as well as helping to develop the Primary years Programme of the International Baccalaureate. |
Tutoring Approach: I truly believe that every child has the ability to succeed when tutored sympathetically according to their disposition and individual needs. All too often, adults underestimate the capabilities of children and do not allow them the freedom to use their initiative and to at a pace that suits them. Children require to know the basic concepts of Maths and English and individual tutoring will help some children to see that once they have mastered these concepts, everything else falls into place more easily. |

I make learning fun and this is why many of my students prefer my teaching compared to that of other tutors/teachers. I am a very productive person so I ensure a lot gets taught in a short space of time. I am punctual and organised and this, I believe, aids my teaching. HOWEVER, I believe my MAIN strength is that since I am relatively young myself, the subjects which I will be teaching, are fresh in my mind. | Personal Description: I am a patient teacher. I am warm and open. I encourage pupils by setting reasonable targets. I speak French fluently and I have a degree in Management Sciences with Computing. I speak and have studied French to Masters level. I have a Masters in Marketing and a PGCE. I have tutored children and adults before. I am based in Colchester. |
Teaching Experience: I am an experienced primary school teacher. I am fully qualified and have an up to date CRB check. I have experience of teaching in state, private, prep and SEN (Special Educational Needs) Schools. I am experienced in working with children with special/additional needs. I am able to support children on a 1-2-1 basis to ensure that they receive the additional input that they need in order to achieve. I have just completed a postgraduate in dyslexia and literacy with Dyslexia Action and the University of York. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe in looking at and trying to educate the whole child. In doing this I think that one can inspire the class and improve their confidence and their desire to learn and develop. I looked carefully at the children's previous work to evaluate their current level before planning a new lesson. For each lesson I teach, I plan the lesson in detail, listing resources, support staff and their roles, ICT resources used, differentiation for different abilities, the structure and timing of the lesson, the objectives and learning outcomes expected as well as the tasks that we are going to carry out, and the teaching methods that would be most effective for the subject and the class. I used a variety of working styles such as kinaesthetic, auditory and visual methods to increase the reach and differentiation of the teaching for all students. I use these methods to anticipate and resolve any problems and identify opportunities for extending the pupils learning. I often use the interactive whiteboard to display and interact with resources such as web pages, educational games, and visual or auditory presentations. This is a fantastic way of stimulating and allowing children to lead their learning. I understand the importance of inclusive provision and practice. I am very interested in working with children with learning difficulties. I assess children's work with a view to assessing ways in which we could improve their understanding and presentation of work. I also tried to differentiate effectively for all the pupils through my use of questioning. I used extending questions or questions which would be aimed at different ability groups to maximise my pupil's understanding of my objectives. |

| Personal Description: I am BA (Hon) graduate and Professional Freelance Translator and Interpreter. I am married with a 10-year old son. |
Teaching Experience: Following my degree, I returned to Spain to teach English for a year. During the past year I have taught Spanish on a one-to-one basis. |
Tutoring Approach: Based very much on what the learner wants to cover. Once we have agreed the initial starting point, I would advise that they purchase a suitable language course book with CD/DVD so that they will be able to consolidate what they learn in the relaxed but structured lesson with me, and also continue to listen, and speak in the chosen target language between lessons. Although the lessons with me will be structured, I will go at the learners' own pace and ability, consolidating as we go along, and introducing fun exercises and games by way of revision, and also give constructive advice about what other resources can assist them. |
