Personal Description:
I am 37 years old and qualified as a Teacher in 2006. I consider myself a friendly and approachable person and I like to take an interest in the people around me. I have lived in several Cities in the UK (North and South) and therefore have a diverse and dispersed group of friends. I have always enjoyed learning and working with young people as I enjoy seeing the spark, energy and potential they have. I am interested in Football and until recently played regularly.

Teaching Experience:

I am the Head of Economics at LVS Ascot and I have spent the last 10 years working successfully in Schools such as St Lukes Science and Sports College in Exeter, The Ridings High School in South Gloucestershire and St Josephs Catholic School in Slough. I have consistently achieved good results with my pupils. I have designed hundreds of resources for my subject that enable students to work towards the criteria set down by exam boards at both GCSE and A' Level. I have extensive knowledge of the AQA and Edexcel courses and exam technique for A2. I have been an examiner for A Level Economics for 4 Years and I currently mark for both the Edexcel and AQA exam boards. This has given me an insight into how exam papers are marked and how students can be prepared for these papers.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to give a clear structure structure to work towards a qualification giving students clear instructions on exactly what they need to include in examinations or coursework. I look to build strong personal relationships with my pupils reinforcing confidence to attempt difficult task and changing my teaching to meet the learning needs of individuals. As a tutor I will make sure I am avaiable contact by you during every evening to monitor and assess your work and deal with any problems you may come across. I provide detailed feedback on what you need to do to reach the higher grades and will point you towards the information you need to do well in Business studies or Economics.

Personal Description:
Hello - I am a friendly and approachable teacher who is based in Surrey and uses a variety of teaching methods and techniques to help students consolidate their understanding, progress and achieve to the best of their ability. I have taught students of all ages and abilities and have received positive feedback from my students. I believe that questions should never be considered irrelevant or silly and that as each student is an individual, different methods and approaches may be required to aid their understanding. Please feel free to contact me for further information or guidance.

Teaching Experience:

9 Years teaching experience in Secondary schools. I have taught both boys and girls of all ages and also adults. I teach Latin to GCSE level and Classical Civilisation / Ancient History to A-level. I am also able to assist students with study skills, improve their English language skills and have knowledge of other languages such as French and Spanish.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to have an idea of what topics the student has already studied and which text books they are currently working from. The first session will be to find out what areas the student feels they are struggling in and what topics need more focus and consolidation. As each student is an individual, the sessions will be tailored to their unique learning needs and I will help them to gain as much as they can from each session and hopefully improve their understanding, their achievement grades and confidence in their abilities.

Personal Description:
I studied Classics at King's College, Cambridge, graduating in 2009. I then trained as a teacher at Queens' College, Cambridge, graduating with a PGCE in 2010. I have been a private tutor since 2009, and have now clocked up thousands of hours' tutoring experience in Latin and Ancient Greek. I tutor both languages to degree-level standard in London, Cambridge and online. I love Classics, and my main aim is to make my lessons fun and inspirational.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring Latin and Ancient Greek intensively for the past 7 years, with thousands of hours' teaching experience to date. I have taught towards all major public exams in both languages, such as Common Entrance, GCSE, AS, A2, SAT, Pre-U and even BA (i.e. University exams). I am familiar with the entrance processes for a number of independent and grammar schools, and have had a lot of experience teaching towards scholarship papers. I have tutored many students applying to Cambridge and Oxford, and can provide in-depth advice and support with choosing the right course and college, as well as getting to the necessary level for the language tests. I have also taught the languages to those who have decided to learn them purely for fun! In addition to my face-to-face teaching, I have taught extensively online (about 50% of my teaching is conducted on Skype), and have built up an array of handy techniques to get the most from the online format. I was Head of Latin at a school in Bury St Edmunds for two years (September 2011 to July 2013). Since October 2010, I have been supervising Cambridge undergraduates in Latin and Ancient Greek (colleges so far have included Pembroke, Downing, Homerton, Queens', King's, Murray Edwards, Newnham, Caius, Peterhouse, St John's, Emmanuel and Trinity). I also own and run a private tuition agency, Titanium Tutors, which I set up in 2011, managing a team of 8 staff members and over 1000 inspirational tutors.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching style is structured and thorough. I start every lesson with a five minute recap of the key content of the previous session, checking how much the tutee remembers. A typical lesson will then consist of a translation, in which I ask the tutee to note down each unknown word as it is encountered and to devise a memory trick which will help them to recall the word in a five minute test at the end of the lesson. Together with the tutee, I will then pick a grammar point which stood out in the translation exercise as requiring the most immediate attention. We will spend five to ten minutes working on that, with the tutee's understanding tested with some reinforcement exercises. At the end of the lesson we will recap all the new vocabulary and grammar which was covered, and I will typically set a manageable 20 - 30 minute homework for the next session based on what was covered in the lesson. Every lesson is of course different, and tailored to the tutee's requirements, but I find this approach works in the vast majority of cases. I consider grammar to be crucially important, but treat it as a means to an end and always emphasise the ways in which it can be usefully applied to translation rather than learned in isolation. I believe that any tutee can excel in Latin and Greek with a little guidance and a decent amount of independent work. Above all, I strive to make my lessons fun and enjoyable. I love my subject and want all of my tutees to love it too.

Personal Description:
Experienced Session Musician, with 11 years live and studio experience. 8 years tutoring experience. Two co-written South African chart singles, 8 studio albums ( session and co-writing ), three international releases. One South African National tour.

Teaching Experience:

Having started my own music college in South Africa 6 years ago and tutoring students on a one to one basis for the last year in London. My experience as a tutor is vast, not only do I have teaching/tutoring experience but also years of live session work in studio and on stage with various bands. Often co-writing singles that would go to chart.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is tailored to each individual. Obviously in group sessions this can become complicated but I do always give each student personal attention so that they are learning the way that best suits them. I find just teaching students theory tends to take the Joy of music away ( and Music is first and foremost about joy and love for the art ). At the same time, on the opposite side of the coin not teaching the student any theory can be destructive.

My approach entails a mixture of Technique, Theory, and a vast amount of Practical. Because of each student being an individual, I mould my approach in how I teach them in these three areas, to maximize their potential.

Personal Description:
I am a native Russian with a university diploma of engineering, have copleted courses of Teaching Russian as a foreign language. Now I am living in Plymouth and would like to continue my teaching practice.

Teaching Experience:

In Moscow I taught expats and their family members Russian as a foreign Language. They were drawn from a wide variety of nationalities and linguistic level. My students worked for companies such as Alfa-Bank, VTB, JTI, Les Laboratoires Servier, Adidas Russia, Kellogg's, Eurocopter, ROCA and others. Although some students were private, for the most part, they were referred to me from the Language schools that I have had a long association with.

Tutoring Approach:

I do believe that there is no one universal method of teaching. I have always adapted my approach individually, matching the learning style of my students. As a basic I take the Communicative method which allows me to quickly recognise students' strengths and weaknesses.

Personal Description:
I am a french student doing a MSc in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bristol until next September. During the whole summer (from June to September), I will be working on my Thesis and will be able to organize my time in order to give some french tutorials.

Teaching Experience:

Back in France, I had already a teaching experience as a Mathematics/Physics teacher for Secondary school level students (13-18 years old). I have good teaching skills as I usually adapt the tutorials according to the learning objectives of the tutees. For example, some will only need speaking skills in order to be able to travel in France, then, I will focus my teaching on typical daily conversations useful to get along actual speaking situations. Some will need more academic basics. Then, I will try to construct the tutorials with more complete tools (both speaking and writing comprehension, and expression).

Tutoring Approach:

I usually start by understanding the learning objectives of the tutees in order to adapt the way to teach. If the tutees is still a student, I will have a look at what he/she does at school and will provide some additional work or/and help him/her to complete some homework and help him to understand more deeply the french course.

Personal Description:
I have a BA Honours Degree in English Studies from Aleppo University in Syria in 2000. I embarked on two Postgraduate Diplomas at Aleppo University one in Linguistics (2002); the other in Education and Qualification in 2003. In both of these Diplomas I was awarded a Distinction. In 2002, I was fortunate in gaining a scholarship to study in the UK and was nominated to study in the department of Language and Linguistics at the University of Essex. I found this course to be immensely useful to me as a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) professional as I was able to observe a range of different EAP (English for Academic Purposes)classrooms; make academic presentations and really developed my love of scholarship which fired me with the enthusiasm to read for a PhD degree. I finished my doctorate in TESOL at the University of Ulster entitled "EAP Teachers Approaches to Giving Written Feedback on Academic Writing in British and Syrian ELT Centres". . I am extremely interested in teaching the language skills (as my recent doctorate shows). I am extremely hard working and sociable. I have good comparative knowledge of Western and Islamic societies which I could share with students where pertinent. I also have two qualifications from Ulster University in Peer Mentoring and Counselling.

I have strong interpersonal, communication, and classroom management skills and self-motivator. Apart from being an interesting experience in itself, tutoring is an ideal opportunity for me at this stage of my career as the area of this job is interesting to me and I have got the enthusiasm and motivation and energy to do it well and to develop things.I would like consider offering online tutorials (email writing tutorials for students who can not attend some classes).

Teaching Experience:

In the Diploma of Education and Qualification, I have been trained how to teach and how to deliver lectures in Arabic and English and also how to prepare lesson plan. I have experience of teaching university students in Syria as I was a lecturer at Aleppo University from 2002 to 2013. I enjoy teaching and lecturing and love my profession as I am particularly interested in communicating with individuals and groups. My colleagues and supervisors all say that I am a natural communicator and this, coupled with my knowledge of the field, leads me to think that I would make a good teacher. My mother tongue language is Arabic, yet my knowledge of written and spoken English is very good as well. I am also interested in materials design and curriculum development in ELT and could make useful contributions in these areas. I have also specialized in ESP, Materials and Methods in ELT, Language Teachers in Classrooms and Vocabulary and would be interested in teaching international students. My job in Syria was delivering pre-sessional programmes in academic English language to Syrian postgraduate students. Those students have to attend some EAP and ESP courses and pass the final exam which will enable them to pursue their high studies in Syria or in some English speaking countries like UK, USA and Canada. My teaching experience gives me a deeper insight and understanding of actual teaching/learning contexts. When I did my MA degree at Essex University, I taught some international students as part of the "Teaching Practice" module. I have been trained how to write a lesson plan for international students and how to use the PowerPoint for delivering lectures. Furthermore, I am very au fait with technology in the classroom.

Tutoring Approach:

It is the application of an integrating approach for the development of communicative skills in the lesson, in which the four skills in the acquisition of knowledge of a foreign language can be taught in a coherent way, and practiced together, with a distinction of the importance of one upon the other. One image for teaching English as a second or foreign language (ESL/EFL) is that of a tapestry. The tapestry is woven from many strands, such as the characteristics of the teacher, the learner, the setting, and the relevant languages (i.e., English and the native languages of the learners and the teacher). For the instructional loom to produce a large, strong, beautiful, colorful tapestry, all of these strands must be interwoven in positive ways. For example, the instructor's teaching style must address the learning style of the learner, the learner must be motivated, and the setting must provide resources and values that strongly support the teaching of the language. However, if the strands are not woven together effectively, the instructional loom is likely to produce something small, weak, ragged, and pale--not recognizable as a tapestry at all.

Personal Description:
I have a wide and varied education and employment background. Teaching is a vocation that I have found for myself relatively late in life. My maturity and experience are assets that enable me to approach students with great tact, understanding and patience.

Teaching Experience:

I qualified as a secondary mathematics teacher but I have a wide variety of teaching experience in many different subjects and teaching environments. As a supply teacher I have taught at over 30 different primary and secondary schools.

As a teacher of adults I have taught numeracy and English to many students over the last 5 years, including adults with learning difficulties.

As a private tutor I have taught Maths and English to all ages from 5 - 17, both at one to one level, and also in small groups.

I have extensive experience with 11 plus tuition and have a good knowledge of the content of exams for local grammar schools. I have received excellent feedback from parents. I work with small groups (6 maximum) at my home for 90 minute sessions after school. I methodically guide the students through the various types of test they need to master prior to taking the exam.

To sum up, I have helped many students improve their attainment levels, gain increased enjoyment from learning, and achieve excellent exam grades.

Tutoring Approach:

I have great patience with learners but also a great determination to help them to overcome the barriers that can inhibit learning progress. It is vital to me that the tutoring experience is a rewarding and positive one for both the learner and myself.

Personal Description:
I`m a Physics graduate from the University of Glasgow. I`m originally from London where I achieved an A* in Physics and an A in Mathematics at 18. Since then I`ve been an undergraduate at the University and consistently achieved 1st Class grades throughout all my classes and I graduated with a First Class Honours degree.

Teaching Experience:

I have a 2 years experience of tutoring in London where my 3 students all achieved their desired grades. I also helped compile revision resources for the A-Level Physics class for my school which, to the best of my knowledge, are still in use. My course entails components centered around communication of concepts and peer assessment which I have done well in and would aid me in tutoring. I have also recently completed a summer internship with the university helping to develop teaching resources for some of the university courses.

Tutoring Approach:

I seek to initially understand the problem areas the student has and then build these areas up to a reasonable standard of competency through a combination of explanations including written and oral demonstrations, videos and, later, problems. Once the core theory understanding of the various areas of the subject are firm I work on building the student's problem solving skills which are key to passing exams. This is done mainly through solving problems and past exam questions. In my experience, I have found this method to be the most successful in allowing the student to pass and excel in their exams as well as enriching their understanding of the subject.

Personal Description:
I grew up in south-west London, in Twickenham, before attending Tiffin School (Kingston-Upon-Thames) and Cambridge University, where I was awarded my BA (Hons) degree in History of Art. I have always engaged with extracurricular activities with enthusiasm, something which my educational institutions have given me ample opportunity to do.

My main passion has been acting. It has provided many opportunities to meet and get to know a huge range of different people, all in a challenging, intense environment. Fundamentally, it is the opportunity to engage with the perspective of another person and to attempt to embody this in actions and speech. It requires a performer to listen to and work with others on stage, and to work within a flexible, productive relationship - this is essential for any student-teacher relationship, as a dialogue begins to emerge.

My other interests have similarly complemented my academic pursuits: I have played rugby union for 14 years, up to and including university level, and used to play the french horn in the school orchestra. Both activities gave me an opportunity to voice my individual contribution to the group whilst working within a team, invaluable experience for academic discussion as well as confidence in many other areas of life. They offer different approaches to problem solving and develop some of the broader skills essential for academic success, such as self-expression, articulation, flexibility and confidence.

Teaching Experience:

My experience includes working with primary school students (age 4-6), through a voluntary program at secondary school. This involved helping children to learn to read. The weekly session required empathy and flexibility on my part, demanding an understanding that each child`s ability was completely unique, and that my approach needed to be modified to fit each person. In particular, I had to cultivate patience and a desire to listen and to understand everything the child was saying.

Whilst at university I also participated in a student run mentoring scheme, which gave unprivileged children the opportunity to understand life and work at Cambridge. It was a fascinating opportunity to understand some of the social and personal blocks to academic confidence, as well as offering ways in which these problems might be developed and overcome. Most importantly, it was a joyful experience to be able to help a younger person, and to understand that they were a unique person with their own approach to problems and solutions. By listening to him, I gradually learnt the ways in which they best communicated and how I could use those situations to our advantage as a student-teacher pair.

More recently, I have participated in a student-run university theatre tour which also comprised educational workshops. These workshops were a much bigger part of the tour than we had originally thought, and proved to be challenging at times. This was partly from the language barrier (many classes spoke little to no English, and were often too embarrassed to speak at all), but also from the unpredictable nature of the students. We had to work on our feet, employing what resources we had in a way which was meaningful, cumulative and ultimately led to an end. Our exercises required an overall structure and an ultimate purpose, but we also wanted to adjust this according to their reactions. Though I initially found this challenging, towards the end of the tour I could take charge of workshops and lead them with ease.

Tutoring Approach:

Teaching and intellectual discussion have always been an important part of my family life, and it is an activity which I enjoy on a personal as well as professional level. My time at university has developed my ability to think in this way, as well as providing an environment in which I was surrounded by these kinds of discussion, with both professors and students. The emphasis on close-contact supervision periods at Cambridge taught me the importance of helping each student understand their individual form of expression.

I would avoid didactic repetition and seek to challenge the student and invite them to contribute. As well as work done outside the tutoring time period, I would encourage tasks such as presentations and prepared discussions as much as possible. I believe this work lays an essential base for passionate intellectual discussion, and it is something which certainly helped me in my university interview.

Coupled with this development of interest in particular subject areas, I would try to help the student's method of arguing and offer sustained, constructive advice on how that might be more effective. A university candidate is only as successful as their ability to communicate effectively and succinctly, something which may require exercises as different as confidence building or syntax and grammar. But as well as this self-belief and self expression, the student would need to acknowledge that academic (and educational) progress can be achieved by listening to others and attempting to understand their point of view. This dialogic aspect is essential to my tutoring approach.

Personal Description:
Hello, I am a 23 year old final year student of French and German at the University of Hull who is very passionate about languages and also studied English Language up until A Level. I am happy to travel to my students for tuition so the student can learn in the comfort of their own home. I lived in both France and Germany last year for a semester each and would be happy to help out with any language struggles, as I understand first hand how daunting learning and speaking a language can be and I aim to help my students feel as comfortable as possible.

Teaching Experience:

I have work experience teaching voluntarily at a Primary school from my home town in Bedford, along with studying language in pre schools and nurserys as part of my A Level English Language course. I am aspiring to become a teacher when I graduate next year.

Tutoring Approach:

My aim is to get my students talking while making them feel at ease and as comfortable as possible. Languages can be very daunting, and I want to instill some confidence in my students along with aiding in any grammatical errors and helping to build vocabulary for my students. I have a large range of resources, such as textbooks with grammar exercises up to A Level qualification and beyond, and will be very happy to help out in any areas where students are struggling.

I feel that I have a good approach with younger students due to being young myself and helping my sister and siblings of friends throughout my school life with their language struggles. I am a friendly and approachable person who wants to make lessons fun and educational rather than a chore, and I feel like this will massively help students retain information easier and motivate them further in their studies from personal experience.

I am not perfect and am not aiming for perfection, I am enthusiastic and engaging and am willing to adapt my teaching skills from student to student. Some students prefer working from a textbook with worksheets, and some prefer a more vocal approach to language learning and I am very aware of how to adapt from student to student.
