Personal Description:
I have always been aware of the importance of cultivating languages and thanks to my Bachelor's Degree in Translation and Interpreting and my subsequent work,I have excellent skills all round in Spanish, my mother tongue. Furthermore, I have gained a broad experience of making use of my linguistic skills in French.

Teaching Experience:

My stays abroad include The University of Sheffield as a Spanish Assistant, which I feel has contributed to the development of my educational abilities. I particularly worked in Spanish language classes, solving grammatical, phonetic or syntactic problems for final year students in the School of Modern Languages and Linguistics. Furthermore, my Spanish teaching qualification (CAP for Secondary Education) equips me with pedagogical and didactic skills, which I feel are transferable to the English educational context.
This summer I have successfully completed a 12 week intensive course 6 unit French Subject Knowledge Enhancement Course and I have achieved Europena Lavel B1.3, which is A Level Standard I taught French at University Level.

Tutoring Approach:

Supportive, well-organized, trying to make it interesting with a wide range of materials.

Personal Description:
Although I now have a PGCE in mathematics I have been lucky enough to get the chance to apply my skills in maths and physics whilst working as an engineer in the automotive and white goods industries. It gave me the opportunity to travel abroad and to get involved with companies such as Dyson, Jaguar, Austin Martin and then even allowed me to watch rockets being built in Russia.
I trained engineers and factory workers in the use of mathematical and physics based subjects. Some of those I taught had jobs which involved predominantly manual skills and so they were a little rusty when applying mathematical techniques. This makes me appreciate the nervousness some adults have when presented with a subject they may not have touched since leaving school.
After leaving the engineering world I had a brief spell working as a trainer in the insurance arena and then finally ended up teaching mathematics in secondary schools.

Teaching Experience:

I worked as a manufacturing engineer for 8 years and then I taught engineers and factory workers for 10 years in the use of techniques involving mathematics and physics. After leaving the engineering world I trained adults to use a mainframe software program and then I went on to become a secondary school mathematics teacher. Finally I started tutoring from home working with various types of pupils. Some pupils have special needs, whilst others are working towards an A grade in their A levels.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to know why the tutee wishes to study. It may be to improve their confidence or to pass an exam. This will then shape the nature of the tutoring sessions. My focus is to provide people with the knowledge that is most useful to them and their aspirations.

Personal Description:
My name is Margo and I'm 35. I am an avid cyclist and in 2011 fulfilled my lifelong dream of cycling round the world. My 27,000 km, New Zealand to Scotland trip took 2 years to complete and was the best experience of my life so far. As for other interests, I am a keen mountain biker and take part in the Scottish cross country championships every year. Before setting off on my trip, I came 2nd overall in the female masters category and 2nd in the sport category at the British championships.

Teaching Experience:

Before leaving the UK in 2009, I had been working as a French teacher for almost 7 years. Much of my work came from tuition agencies, with whom I taught students up to University level. I taught French to adult learners at the Glasgow College of Commerce in 2007 and pre 5's in several nursery schools around Glasgow from 2004 to 2009. I studied French and German at the University of Glasgow and finished my degree in 2001. I have however mainly focused on French during my teaching career. I have lived in France and worked as an English assistant in a French school for one year during the 4th year of my degree and have just returned from working in the French Alps for a year. More importantly, in September I am returning to Glasgow University to do my PGDE(teacher training year) to become a "proper" secondary French teacher.

Tutoring Approach:

Whether you are a parent looking to give their child a head start in foreign language learning, a Highers student struggling with exam practice or just an adult looking to learn a new skill, I am here to help. I have many years experience working with all ages and levels and would love to get you to where you want to be in French.

Personal Description:
My first teaching job was in Kenya when I was 19, and since then I have taught English in Mexico, Brazil, Japan and England. My students have ranged from 4 to 94, and from beginners to doctors and academic researchers, focusing on conversation, business, or exams, depending on the student's needs.

I have a passion for language, whether listening to strangers on the bus or exploring grammatical structures, and my students pick up my enthusiasm and enjoyment.

I have written a book on psychology, linguistics and science, edited children's books and academic texts, and worked as a translator of both Portuguese and Japanese.

My BSc is in Life Sciences with the History and Philosophy of Science and Medicine, and I am interested in nearly everything, except football and cars.

Teaching Experience:

2010-present: ESL teacher, language coach for academics, and private tutor to Japanese kids.

2006-2010: Private English tutor (in MG, Brazil).

2001-2005: High School teacher and private tutor (in Kyoto, Japan)
1999-2001: Elementary and Junior High School English teacher, also special needs class (in Fukushima, Japan).

1997: Teacher for tortillas and lodging in the jungle (in Chiapas, Mexico)

1995: Volunteer school teacher of English, Science & Maths (in rural Kenya)

Tutoring Approach:

I use only English in my lessons, encouraging my students to speak as much as possible, and to correct their own or each other's errors wherever possible.

My emphasis is on fluency, natural language and confidence, so when teaching grammar or considering problems, the student can refer to concrete examples in their heads, rather than abstract formulae in textbooks.

I use a broad range of materials, techniques, and situations, setting high standards and pushing my students to work hard towards accuracy and creativity in English.

Though I am happy teaching one-to-one, I find that a group of two to four students can be more dynamic, more relaxed, and a better environment for free expression and mutual correction. If you agree, I might invite you to join a class of students at a similar level, which makes the lesson much more economical for you.

Personal Description:
My professional profile is mainly divided into two areas: Environmental Biology - Natural Science - Italian teaching/translation.
Professional competences on the Environmental Biology - Natural Science field have been acquired during my undergraduate studies in Ecological Science and Environmental Education and the master in Biodiversity and Environmental Quality (both with first-honours grades). Several internship/volunteer activities and training courses have enriched my curriculum on this area and allowed me to enhance my knowledge and expertise.
The Italian teaching area has been developed during the last 3 years (two of which have been spent in United Kingdom), even though I have been passionate on either linguistic structures or teaching/learning processes since High School, inspired by the family atmosphere in which my parents and some relatives transmitted me the passion.

Teaching Experience:

I have a three-year professional experience in teaching lessons of Science and Italian language (6 courses to date, including a special "food and language" course for a company) for individuals and small classes, and I have been an External Examiner for the GCSE Italian Language exam.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a friendly, calm and patient tutor that really loves teaching in a comfortable, positive and supporting ambience. I encourage you to participate actively to the lesson, and, according to the purpose, I promote activities, games and practical exercises focused on your needs. I do not prefer explaining concepts using only schematic structures, but I try to understand your main needs and gaps and I tail the lessons to your specific learning processes.
All levels are covered.

Hi! I am an award-winning creative copywriter looking to assist new generations of wordsmiths with engaging academic tuition.

Education:
- GCSEs (2A*/8A) and A-levels (AAB) at top grammar school
- BA Hons in English Literature at Oxford Brookes
- MA Distinction in Creative Writing at Oxford Brookes

Awards:
- Upwork Top Rated Verification (Jul 2016)

Career:
- 8 years' creative copywriting experience
- Fiction praised by authors including Tobias Hill, Philip Pullman and Sarah Dunant
- Restaurant critic for UK's widest-read food and drink guide

Teaching Experience:

I founded a private tutelage company aged 16, helping those in lower years while studying myself.

I then worked for two years with a private Oxford tuition company, as well as conducted further independent tuition work to supplement my academic studies.

Tutoring Approach:

As I am just 25 years of age, I recall the sensations of academia and am able to communicate effectively with your child to promote to them their worth as an English student.

I bring forward my experience at one of the country's top grammar schools to share English in an engaging manner to which your child will respond strongly.

Each and every one of us has the potential to write well and it is simply a matter of unlocking that recognition (then supplemented by extensive developmental and stylistic work, of course!).
