Tutoring Approach: As a personal tutor I help learners to unlock their full potential. The environment of a large classroom often hinders results and limits development. I find that different approaches and environments improve results and increase enthusiasm to learn and the ability to work independently. I aim to tailor tuition for the individual learner. At the intial session we agree a plan of action based on the learner's needs. We continue to review this plan as needs change. The tuition is intended to support study at school or college or individual study (eg distance learning courses). Sessions are informal but focussed and enjoyable. I set homework if required but prefer to concentrate on understanding and practice within the session. |

| Personal Description: My name is Tayo Richards. I am married with three children and I live in Herne Hill, which is in London. I am currently working towards my accreditation as a career/business coach. I am a very passionate believer of purpose and strongly believe that each and everyone of us has a reason for being here today. I partner with young people, professionals and business owners, helping them become more aware of their passion, motivators, natural talents and abilities in order to help them make very calculated and meaningful decisions when it comes to their careers and businesses. |
Teaching Experience: My particular experience comes from being a senior administrator in a learning and development organisation. I naturally took on the role of motivator and leader for the members of the administrative team because I was the longest serving member at the time and because I have a natural passion to see people realise their true potential in their work. When I left this organisation, I started my own virtual business support business. I continually found that my passion was more helping business owners to see their business grow, help with pin pointing problems in strategically as well as with relation to members of staff. In order to enhance my coaching experience, I decided to get accreditation in a very one of a kind coaching school. |
Tutoring Approach: My approach will focus on the following: (a) First I would begin by establishing a rapport and discussing what the student would like to be left with having completed the tutorial. At this time an outline of topics to be covered will also be provided. (b) Spend about three quarters of the tutorial time providing an insight to the subject by providing facts, insights, practical examples and insights from a personal perspective. (c) Set 'homework' or something to go and read up on to further enhance the learning experience (d) Spend a quarter of the tutorial time, catching up on previous taught material to ensure that the tutee understands the subject material before moving on. |

| Personal Description: Hello everybody, I am 26 years old and currently I am studying at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. I studied in my home country (Poland) too. It`s been two years since I work in the UK. I have a lot of experience in teaching. I am friendly, reliable and trustworthy person. When I was 16 years old I set up my own choir and then I decided to become a choir conductor. I love music and I would do everything to show you its truly magical world. I am enthusiastic about teaching since I know that each time I learn something new too:) |
Teaching Experience: I have been giving privet lessons since I was 16. i was a violin, piano, guitar and singing teacher, as well as polish language tutor. After graduating I have moved to the UK where I was working in two private schools. In the first one I thought violin, singing, piano, theory of the music, and I lead a choir. In the second I was a music teacher. |
Tutoring Approach: I like working with children, teenagers and adults. All my experience has proved me that my pupils like the slightly informal way I teach and we always got on well very well. I am interested in alternative ways of education (like Montessori, Steiner etc.) and I try to use its guidelines in my personal teaching. Practice should always come first and understanding of theory will come afterwords. The best way to learn is to think creatively and to create your own way of learning, tailored to your own specific requirements. It should be interesting and fun, although there are things that have to be practiced and might be boring, but I believe there is always a way to make it more approachable. If the teacher show the passion, the student will share it and this fact will make things easier to learn:) |

| Personal Description: In June 2009 I graduated from Newcastle University with a 1st class B.Mus (Hons.) in Music. In my final year, I specialised in piano performance studies, alongside taking classes in French general language and various aspects of music history, theory and analysis. In July I took my Dip.ABRSM exam in piano performance. During the course of my degree I had the opportunity to study for one year at the French-speaking University of Montreal, Canada, which was where I took classes in Music and French and began to tutor music and languages on a private basis. |
Teaching Experience: Alongside studying taught modules on teaching methods in music at university involving placements in schools, I have experience of teaching piano individually to young beginners whilst i was living in Canada. During my final year at Newcastle I taught brass instruments to groups of beginners at a primary school in Co. Durham, as well as offering one to one tuition and piano accompaniment to youngsters preparing to take their ABRSM grade exams. In Montreal, I gave private tuition in the English language to French speakers, both children and adults. I have also regularly offered informal help with languages and written work to friends and colleagues at university. |
Tutoring Approach: As a recent graduate, I feel that the skills I have developed in the course of my degree and teaching experience are appropriate to supporting a student of music or second language acquisition in their learning. I teach in a relaxed and flexible way, focusing upon which aspects the student wishes to target in particular and setting short, focused homework tasks each week in order for the student to develop this particular area of knowledge. I normally emphasise recapping on material covered during the course of the lesson and in previous lessons, so that both I and the tutee have a clear idea of what we learned in the day's lesson. Ultimately, my teaching style will vary according to which subject we are covering, be it English, French or music. Please contact me with any questions you may have if you may be interested in learning together: I usually like to meet up for a first lesson with my students for no fee, to get to know each other and to talk a bit about how we might structure our learning. |

| Personal Description: I am a sociology graduate from university of Trento. I am Italian native speaker and a fluent speaker of English and French. I am interested in teaching Italian language to the speakers of English language. |
Teaching Experience: Although I have no formal education in teaching, I have a basic understanding of teaching languages as I have done several "language exchanges" while my stay in England. In addition, I have also conducted Italian conversation classes. Regarding my competence in Italian language, it is sufficient to mention that I have done all my formal education (sociology graduate and Master in Tourism Management) in Italian. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe that the best way to learn a language is by conversing in the language with a native speaker, as it is difficult to get a grip on the language just by learning the grammar of the language. My approach to teaching Italian consists of holding a conversation over any current topic, talking about daily life situations and by the means of student presentations. I also find watching and analysing (by explaining linguistic and cultural points) Italian movies, an effective means of teaching Italian language. |

| Personal Description: I am a recent languages graduate from the University of St Andrews, I am looking to find some tutoring work to compliment my translation and proofreading freelance work this summer. Over the past three years I have lived in Spain (studying for 9 months) and in France (working in the tourism sector for 5 months). In July I will take up a post as Deputy Manager of a English Language Summer School. |
Teaching Experience: I volunteered as a languages classroom assistant for Year 7/8 pupils whilst I was at college, and over the years I have also helped year 11 GCSE students with oral practice before their exams. Last summer I completed a 60hour TEFL course, allowing me to teach English to foreign students, which I spent my summer doing in Oxford. |
Tutoring Approach: My role is to re-explain and reconfirm what the student has already been taught at school in order to ensure that the lesson has been understood, before moving on to activities to put the theory into practice. Grammar explanations can be given when necessary, but confident communication skills are overall more important than the theory. It's important to mix topics that the student already knows with those they are less confident in so as to ensure a positive attitude towards learning. |

| Personal Description: I am studying Biochemistry at Bristol University having achieved 3 As in Maths, Biology and Chemistry, achieving 94% for my Maths A-level. I intend to become a teacher when I have finished University and find teaching and seeing people learn and improve one of the most fantastic rewards for hard work. |
Teaching Experience: I worked as a tutor during sixth form college voluntarily. Teaching mainly biology but also sometimes with Maths and Chemistry during exam periods. |
Tutoring Approach: Every student is different and each finds learning easier if it is done in the correct way for them. I first try to discover the student's preference and use that by taking into consideration whether the student prefers to be taught through talking and discussion; exercises and more of a hands-on approach or by visual aids such as diagrams and slideshows. This is the only way to make sure teaching is effective. |
