Personal Description:
I'm a postgraduate student at the University of Edinburgh and hold a Double First in Modern Languages from the University of Cambridge. I'm always learning a new language, and am passionate about helping others get the same enjoyment as I do from making progress in language learning.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience of lesson planning, teaching and tutoring a range of ages from 5 to 65, all abilities and a number of subjects: I have tutored French and Russian to GCSE and A-level standard, and students have responded well and exceeded their own goals for exam results. I have also taught large classes of all ages and abilities and received strongly positive feedback.

I also have CELTA certification which has included both teaching theory and assessed teaching practice.

Tutoring Approach:

My aim is to create an informal and supportive study atmosphere which differs from traditional classroom teaching. During the first tutoring session I will discuss with the student (and if necessary with their parents) what they aim to achieve with my help, which will allow me to adjust my teaching methods to their needs and attitudes - whether they prefer creative tasks, games, challenging translation exercises or confidence-boosting activities.

From my teaching experience I have seen that it is vital to create relevant, fun and stimulating lessons and activities to engage with the pupil and turn learning from a chore into something interesting, as interest in a subject is by far the best way to improve.

I offer a taster lesson at a reduced price (only enough to cover my own cost to UK Tutors) so that you can see if I'm the right tutor for you.

I am a reliable and patient person with a likeable personality who relates well to both children and adults. I am conscientious and will discuss all matters with the parents/adult student at home in an informal chat before commencing any teaching sessions. I have a current CRB and I always have a file with this and my qualifications for you to inspect prior to beginning teaching with you. I have a number of private pupils in Stockton, Billingham, Redcar and Middlesbrough, whose parents are more than happy to provide a reference if required.

In 2006 I was one of ten finalists in a national teaching award - QIA STAR Awards.

I have an office in the Elmwood Centre but I also travel around the Cleveland area on some days of the week. This can be by arrangement.

Teaching Experience:

I have 24 years teaching experience, with the last fifteen years teaching English, literacy and creative writing; also, six of the last fifteen years teaching numeracy/maths and ESOL. I have experience in teaching both children and adults, and teaching English to people who are learning English as a second language.

My experience is both classroom based and one-to-one teaching. In addition to being qualified in English, Creative Writing, Maths and ESOL, I am also qualified in supporting learners with dyslexia.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to make learning fun, as I believe this will develop a love of learning which will last into adulthood. I use multi-sensory resources, as well as a computer, to enable students to grasp the necessary basic rules of literacy and numeracy. For younger children I will often make, or bring a game that will have a serious learning point to it, although the children do not always realise this.

I am patient and allow all learners to develop their understanding and confidence in literacy and numeracy by giving them time for questions, explanation and discussion. I also believe that giving praise to someone for trying to answer, even if the answer is incorrect, is really important - the fact they have tried means they are willing to learn - this is the one key requirement to building knowledge and confidence in any subject.

I studied architecture then moved into the world of film and commercials as a set designer,training at the BBC and moving into the freelance world working on a variety of projects as a Set Designer and Stylist.My drawing skills have always been central to my varied art and design career .
In film I collaborated with a variety of creatives including directors ,lighting,costume,makeup,special effects designers,which was enriching and inspirational.Then I began to paint for other designers on their projects and my artwork became a larger part of my work.
Now I work mainly from my studio in Wimbledon on commissions (including painting ) for films & interiors,portrait commissions and my own personal projects in between tutoring.Drawing,painting,photoshop,collage,photography and model making are used in many of my projects. I currently have a painting in the BP Award 2016 at The National Portrait Gallery,London,then in Lincoln and finally to The Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh until the end of March 2017.
I continue to be passionate about the visual world,creating and sharing my skills and experience, carefully designing my sessions to respond to the students requirements in an enjoyable and rewarding way.

Teaching Experience:

In recent years I found people came to my studio for advice and inspiration. I was then invited to be a visiting artist at a school in Kingston and began taking workshops for groups of varying age groups and abilities.
I have designed and run workshops for 'Gifted and Talented Children' and have recently been invited to devise workshops for the V&A.Recently I devised and supervised a project for a final year textile design student at Manchester University to work on a project with a working designer .The students I work with at the moment age from 6 years to adults. My City & Guilds course for Delivering Learning enabled me to carefully design the projects to suit the students and their individual requirements.

I am a 29 year old female. I have worked with children for a number of years now in the mainstream high school setting. I'm always studying myself, I recently completed a basic counselling skills course and I'm currently in the middle of an art-it's place in therapy course.

I'm currently working within a mainstream high school as a communication support worker, for students on the autism spectrum. I am enthusiastic and passionate about education. I want to support my students to achieve their full potential.

Teaching Experience:

I started working with inclusion doing art projects with students who have behaviour difficulties; then went on to be a teaching assistant supporting all academic areas on the curriculum with children aged 10-17. I can differentiate work down to very low levels and am aware of the current curriculum. I have worked with students of many abilities and was a key worker for a child who's Downs Syndrome.
I still work in mainstream but I'm now a specialist in autism, working with children on the autistic spectrum daily. I am aware of the challenges my students face with accessing work on the curriculum as well as the social side of things.

I can give more of my time to small groups and 1:1, a lot more than a teacher can as I don't have all the paperwork and other commitments to many students that they have.

Having recently undergone the exams myself, I feel I'm in the most suitable position to advise current students on how to cope with the content of the constantly changing exam syllabus and exam format. My teaching methods will vary depending on how I assess the student is coping with the subject. If the student learns visually, for example, I can direct them to a range of videos, or even create some myself to suit their learning.

I have been teaching English as a Foreign Language since May 2015 (one to one private tuition and teaching large teenage classes in an English language school in Hastings). I am a native English speaker and CELTA qualified (Cambridge Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults) English Language teacher. Teaching Experience:

I currently teach English as a Foreign Language to large groups of teenagers (aged 11-18) at Shane Global language school in Hastings. I also tutor on a one-to-one basis and I am available afternoons, evenings and weekends. I tutor all levels - beginners to advanced. I have taught a broad range of individuals of different nationalities and backgrounds. I am happy to teach children as well as adults. I have also worked for 1 1/2 years as a Teaching Assistant in a Primary School In London with Year 5 students (aged 9-10). I have been tutoring for two years and have help students from most academic levels, from foundation university to KS3.

I am currently involved in a volunteering program where I teach secondary school students.

Having experience in helping students from different academic levels I am confident that I can push my tutees to perform to the best of their abilities.

Tutoring Approach:

I start by explaining the meaning of mathematical functions or just give a summary of how this can be understood by relating it to daily life or through the use of logic. If they manage to understand, I will go through multiple examples with them. Finally, I will leave some questions for them to do and as they work I request that they tell me every step they make and the reasoning behind it.

I also offer a past paper session, which includes me and the tutee solving a paper together that will help him advance his exam skills and improve their confidence.

Note: I might request to see the tutee`s syllabus and lecture notes as this will help me be in sync with the teacher/lecturer. From this, I am able to thoroughly prepare my sessions, and straight away start to build tutee confidence by helping them become knowledgeable in areas they were once weakest in.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe learning through association with what you know, is the easiest way to tutor people of all ages. It generally helps students to identify more easily the knowledge they need to pass their exams.

Being very patient, I find it's better to adapt my tutoring to the individual, rather than apply a 'one size fits all'. This means a better success rate as different students have different strengths.

I usually like to assess learners at the beginning of meeting them / talking to them and then devise a target plan to help them achieve learning goals.

ONLINE TRAINING

At the moment, I offer English GCSE / A'Level, Media, Film Studies, English as a Foreign Language and bespoke University tutoring support, as well as reading and writing skills. In order to get a full picture of the student's learning priorities, we undertake the following activities to determine areas for improvement and the best conditions for success:

- reflections from the student on how they feel about their learning experience
- a learning survey - it's good fun and gives the child/student a really useful exercise in self-reflection
- analysis of recent written reports which contain teacher comments and grades recording attainment, effort, attitude to learning, punctuality, etc. School reports can vary in format so it may be that not all this detail is available
- we ask that a parent/teacher is involved for the duration of this first session to provide their own reflections on the learning profile of the child
- completion of a personalised learning contract whereby the child/student, parent/teacher and coach agree on the required conditions needed for the child/student to be successful during the programme.

Personal Description:
Originally from Birmingham, qualified in Anatomy in the University of Dundee, I am now studying for a PhD in Anatomy in Leeds University. I have previous experience teaching in Anatomy, as well as private tuition for A Level maths and biology, and GCSE subjects including all Sciences, Maths, English literature and language and have often supported students in other areas they are struggling. I take pride in my work, so I ensure that I do reading prior to tuition and if there is anything I have missed out or wish to add/correct, I ensure that this information is passed on as soon as possible, and then covered in the next session as a revision.

I am a hard worker, with experience in managerial experience, teaching experience in different settings and am often used to proofread works from a variety of people. I'm not afraid to dive in to the deep end and I relish the opportunity to learn something new - something I aim to pass on when I am tutoring.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently an anatomy demonstrator for many students at the University of Leeds. I have privately tutored two academic students - one a GCSE student in a private school, and another in A Levels. In addition to this, I often proofread works relating to history, heritage management, computing and forensics all to a university level.

I have taught 40 volunteers skills such as active listening, customer experience, empathic communications, emotional resilience and methods of providing support.

Tutoring Approach:

I understand students sometimes take a while to grasp a key point - sometimes this might be because the concept is new, or sometimes it is because the approach to the subject isn't in a way that the student prefers. I prefer to identify the method of learning that ensures retention of information the best and utilize that. I have a can-do attitude and won't allow negativity. It is usually just that this subject needs to be addressed in a different method or that the student has lost motivation. In this case, I would allow for a break to get a glass of water and maybe revise a previous lesson for 5 minutes, before readdressing the more difficult subject.
