I have just completed my PhD in Creative and Critical Writing at UEA. I also have an MA (Distinction) in Creative Writing from Royal Holloway, and a First Class Honours Degree in English Literature. I gained straight Firsts in every module I studied. I also have a good Fine Art degree from Chelsea College of Art and Design. I have been a private tutor for twelve years, and have taught many children in that time.

I am currently tutoring in the North London area, including Tottenham and Enfield. I am also offering Creative Writing courses for children in the Sutton area during the school holidays.

I'm a 41 year old lady, and am an aunt, godmother and childminder to several children.

I would also like to offer the tutoring services of my colleague, who will also be working in the Tottenham area. His specialist area is history, that is, 15th century history onwards, with special knowledge of 17th, 19th and 20th century British history. He is fully able to provide support with GCSE, A-Level and undergraduate syllabuses, with a BA Hons and an MA in Political History.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught at undergraduate level at university as well as writing skills in an academic skills centre. I have also taught SATs to thirteen year olds. I have a PTTLs degree level 4 qualification and taught on an Access Course to adult learners. For GCSE, I have a 75 per cent success rate of my students achieving As and A*s. My other students, whose first language may not be English, achieve Bs.

I have taught AQA, OCR and EDEXCEL syllabuses at GCSE and AQA at A-Level.

Please note that I do not teach any Eleven-Plus or verbal reasoning syllabuses and that I prefer to teach older children (13 plus)

Tutoring Approach:

I use creative writing exercises with my students to allow them to develop their writing skills, as well as their creativity and imagination. This approach has been very successful with my SATs pupils. I also use past exam papers, model essays, and devote time and attention to close reading of set texts at GCSE and A-Level. I have also recently branched out into giving art lessons and I helped out at an arts and crafts club at the local school.

I can also provide Skype lessons and find this has been successful with older and university level students.

I have a friendly, professional approach and find I develop a real rapport with my pupils, who find their results and confidence improving with my tutelage.

I am an MFL teacher with bags of enthusiasm and an immense passion for French and Spanish. I work in a Boys Grammar School in North Kent, and have enjoyed spells living in Quebec and Aix-en-Provence in the past. I find empathising with students easy, and have girls and boys between 8 years old and adult on my books. In my free time, I enjoy going to the gym, reading and cycling, having recently completed the London to Brighton cycle in aid of the British Heart Foundation.

I currently teach in a Grammar school in North Kent. I have also done a year's supply in South Yorkshire, as well as in a primary school in France. I also have 9 months experience of teaching French in Essex. I am currently tutoring 4 students going into a third year and I am familiar with the A Level system as well as the IB, having only last year helped two IB students achieve the necessary grades for Durham and Cambridge Universities. Tutoring Approach:

I like to support students in their learning by being thorough, professional, but approachable. My effective tutoring in the past has helped students to feel more confident, happier and untimately this shows in their results. At the academic skills pre-sessional courses at the University of Birmingham in 2012-2016 I gained even deeper experience supporting individual students with writing within very constrained time-limits. I guided all to success at their final assessments. I have had very positive feedback and comments of appreciation.

I have taught in various set-ups - whole class, pair work, group work, or one-to-one sessions. I am deeply interested in each student's individual learning needs and progress and one of my major strengths is differentiation. I sometimes prepare material at 4 levels of differentiation for a single class or small group. I use supportive strategies to boost students' confidence, at the same time challenging learners to achieve beyond their own expectations. I approach intense 1-to-1 sessions with the appropriate dynamics.

I am prepared to go beyond my 'job description' duties to help students with 'special needs'. I am interested in their individual circumstances and take them into account, where appropriate. I prepare resources to address their personal needs and interests. I review their progress and involve them in self-assessment towards autonomy of learning. I am familiar with the 'Assessment for Learning' policy and competent with implementing it widely.

I have worked successfully with students with dyslexia. At secondary school, one of my 'high-ability' dyslexic students scored an 'A' grade at her English GCSE, while another participated in a poetry competition. I have had success teaching students with autism and Asperger's as well.

I invest all of myself in my teaching. I am a highly trusted professional and have an exceptional rapport with my students. I am often quoted as a preferred tutor, who 'has the best way of explaining things' and 'is very patient, friendly and cheerful'. All students of mine - regardless whether at school, college or university - progressed by at least one level (even at short-term courses). A student with a debilitating illness on the BME, predicted to fail the course, not only passed it under my guidance, but achieved grades higher than his required level. In my 15-year teaching career I have never failed a student. I have achieved outstanding results at OFSTED observations. My latest annual lesson observation at BMETC was graded 'OUTSTANDING' and so was my performance at NAVITAS earlier this year. Another observation at BCU was unofficially deemed as 'the best on the course'. I have been invited to share exceptional ideas at training events and have also participated in numerous training activities at schools, colleges and universities. I often opt to peer-observe colleagues, to learn from their teaching styles.

Some more examples from my practice: a class of illiterate Yemeni housewives at BMETC, 2011, achieved a 100% pass at their ESOL exams, while 'advanced' international students at the BME, 2012 achieved some of the highest grades on the course. I have been successful dealing with pupils with behavioural problems at Harborne Hill School. Many reported an increasingly positive attitude to learning. I am a creative teacher and try to interest and enthuse students, so that they enjoy learning and celebrate their achievements.

Tutoring Approach:

First I negotiate the times and modes of tutoring with the parents of my potential pupil and agree on fees.
Then I organise a free initial meeting with the pupil and their parents, where I try to establish raport with the pupil. It is important, especially for children, to 'get a feel' of the new tutor and see if they can feel comfortable with her.
Then I try to access as much information as possible from the parents and the child about their progress at school and their attitude to school. If possible, I wish to see samples of the child's school work, or hear anything teachers have said/written about their progress.
During the first lesson I conduct an informal assessment of the pupil's skills - give them a piece of text to read, or free writing or short composition, or a selection of Maths problems to solve. When I get a clear picture of where my pupil stands with a certain skill, I create a short-term plan of work with them. I normally bring materials with me and do not ask parents to buy additional materials. If the parent wishes me to follow a certain self- help book, I am happy to oblige.
I update parents regularly of their child's progress - I try to do it after every lesson. I normally leave homework, designed to consolidate the material covered in the lesson, or develop their skills further. I wish parents to be involved as much as possible with helping or monitoring the completion of the homework.
I try to show my pupils as much respect as possible and affirm them as individuals. I acknowledge their birthdays, Christmas, or other family celebrations.
The parents can terminate the service at any time, with only one week notice.

As a personal tutor I help learners to unlock their full potential. The environment of a large classroom often hinders results and limits development. I find that different approaches and environments improve results and increase enthusiasm to learn and the ability to work independently.

Hi, I am Olga. I have been a professional musician since 1986 (BMus, CT ABRSM, Dip ABRSM) as well as an interpreter (completed DPSI course in 2009 - Diploma in Public Service Interpreting, Local Government). I have been teaching since 1986. I have always enjoyed teaching students of all ages/level and abilities.

For the last 25 years I have taught in a range of Norfolk schools and also an American school here in the U.K. I have been a Key Stage 2 leader and have worked as a maths advisor, in addition to some private tuition work.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a flexible tutoring approach as I tailor make the sessions for each individual. Students have a wide range of abilities and needs, so each session will meet the requirements of YOUR child. I can help students gain confidence in their mathematical ability, prepare them for SATs, entrance exams and GCSEs as well as functional skills qualifications and the QTS numeracy test. I am equally happy to work with home educated children.

I offer both face-to-face tuition and online tuition.

Personal Description:
As a recent university graduate, I offer a closer bond with students than most tutors due to the lesser age gap. Many exams that students struggle with are ones that I myself have taken, so I can empathise and relate to issues students face on a better level than older tutors. I graduated in English Literature from UEA with a 2:1, achieved A*AA at A Level in English, Philosophy and History, and obtained 10 GCSEs at A* to A and 2 more at B. I was educated at Wilson's School in Surrey which during my time there was consistently ranked as one of the best boys' state schools in the country, and indeed was at number 1 in the rankings for a few years while I was there.

I am currently working towards an MA qualification with a view to going on to a PhD to pursue a career in academic lecturing and tutoring.

Teaching Experience:

Most of my experience comes from being on the receiving end of teachers and tutors from entrance exam up until university, and understanding their shortcomings and failings and what could have been done better. Crucially, I understand student mentalities and what students want and need at all levels. I have tutored Year 5-6s in Maths and Year 10-11s in English so far. Since joining UK Tutors I have taught a 9 year old in writing skills and a 15 year old in GCSE English.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer a fun and friendly way of helping the student to realise their full potential through going over schoolwork, practice papers and other forms of assessment - but critically, I focus on talking with and building a relationship with the student. I don't want them to see tutoring as just another school classroom with another teacher - it should be a fun and intellectually stimulating environment that they enjoy participating in. My experience has shown that if the student is enjoying themselves, they will perform to a far better standard.

I can offer high level teaching in English and History, as well as Philosophy, Critical Thinking and German to an A Level standard, Maths and Sciences up to GCSE standard, other subjects can be discussed.

Crucially, I was a master at dealing with exam pressure and good coursework - I will provide expert tutoring for students suffering from exam stress and help them to format and write essays for coursework. As I did much of the same things just a few years ago, I understand better than anyone what it feels like!

I am a part qualified actuary working for a professional financial services firm in London. I live in Southampton with my family.

I studied Mathematics with Actuarial Studies at University of Southampton and obtained a 1st Class degree. I have gone on to pursue the actuarial professional qualification which I am writing exams for. My passion is teaching which I have done in varying capacities over the years.

Teaching Experience:

I did a placement at a high school which enabled me to gain valuable teaching experience and from that time I have engaged in one-on-one tutoring to help Maths GCSE and A Level students increase their competence in tackling the subject.

From the time I was in high school, Mathematics was my favourite subject and I have endeavoured to learn as much of it as I could, hence my career path. I have always offered a helping hand to others, teaching them what I had learnt in order to increase their understanding of concepts and theories.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is to first understand where the student stands in their competency. I also aim to understand the relationship and attitude the student has towards Mathematics. This will help to map out a development program for them going forward so that they are built up in confidence and ability.
