Teaching Experience:

I have experience in secondary level education in England, having completed the Student Associate Scheme at the end of my Bachelors Degree. In doing so I had experience working as a classroom assistant and running my own Biology lessons.

Tutoring Approach:

I don't believe in giving the answers, it does not help anybody. My approach is to explore the question/problem/topic. If a question can be explored from a different angle then the answer is always reachable. Learning shouldn't be just memorising facts, but really understanding a topic. I love that moment when it just clicks!

I am a 29 year old female. I have worked with children for a number of years now in the mainstream high school setting. I'm always studying myself, I recently completed a basic counselling skills course and I'm currently in the middle of an art-it's place in therapy course.

I'm currently working within a mainstream high school as a communication support worker, for students on the autism spectrum. I am enthusiastic and passionate about education. I want to support my students to achieve their full potential.

Teaching Experience:

I started working with inclusion doing art projects with students who have behaviour difficulties; then went on to be a teaching assistant supporting all academic areas on the curriculum with children aged 10-17. I can differentiate work down to very low levels and am aware of the current curriculum. I have worked with students of many abilities and was a key worker for a child who's Downs Syndrome.

I always wanted to be an art teacher, that's why I went to university, but over the years working in a school I realised what I could achieve by remaining at the support level. I can give more of my time to small groups and 1:1, a lot more than a teacher can as I don't have all the paperwork and other commitments to many students that they have.

There in no fixed approach to teaching, especially with languages . In my lessons I tailor to the individual, as I have found that every person will learn and respond in a different manner. Latin is constantly being described as a boring "dead subject" and so I would aim to make the classes as enjoyable as possible, thinking of initiative and create ways to teach.

I was privileged enough to be afforded a very good private education and originally decided to take on tutoring as an opportunity to share my knowledge with others and allow them to realise their full potential and all the other benefits of a good education.

Five main factors have contributed to my success so far namely,
- I have high expectations of myself and my students, I believe every student can achieve the best grades with the right help

- I instil confidence and a "can do" attitude in students, regularly reminding them that nothing is "hard" if you have been shown how to do it properly

- I listen to students, this keeps lessons interactive and ensures I have constants update on their thought process and current understanding

- I am relatively young so students feel comfortable engaging with me and enjoy learning from me

- I ensure continuous support for students, I make myself available for questions via phone or e-mail throughout the day to ensure the support does not end at the end of the lesson!

Teaching Experience:

I have been a private tutor for over 5 years in this time my reliability and skill has enabled me to develop a good reputation which has allowed me to have a consistent base of 15 - 20 students on a weekly basis.

I have tutored university students attending Russell group universities such as Queen Mary and Warwick and have taught GCSEs and A-levels across all major exam boards including AQA, Edexcel, OCR and iGCSE. Career Highlights!

- Academic Year 2011 - 2012 I helped a student who was predicted a C grade at GCSE to achieve a coveted place at Eltham College after passing a difficult 16+ exam, we then continued to work together to secure an A grade at GCSE

- Academic year 2012 - 2013 I helped a student who scored a D grade at AS Economics achieve an A grade at A2 level after 8 months of tuition. He was the only student to score an A grade in his school since 2007.

- Academic Year 2013 - 2014 I helped a student who scored a C grade at AS Economics achieve an A grade at A2 Economics with an impressive 97% in Unit 1, 99% in Unit 2 and 100% in Unit 3. He had also had three previous tutors who he was dissatisfied with before coming to me.

- Academic Year 2015 - 2016 I help a student who had achieved a B in AS Economics go on to achieve an A* in A2 Economics with a 95% average across the unit 3 and 4 exams.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching approach embodies a long term approach to learning I teach students in a way which will allow them to be successful in higher education as well as their more short term exams. I also try to make students more confident in their abilities overall not just the material I teach.

I strongly believe that a solid understanding of basic principles is the foundation to success in academic study. I concentrate a lot of time and energy on instilling these basic principles in students.

I am also a strong believer in understanding over 'rope learning' I ensure that pupils understand what they are doing and why they are doing it, never encouraging them to simply regurgitate what they have seen previously.

I also encourage practical understanding of concepts frequently referencing real world examples and using objects to illustrate theory as I recognise that theory on its own given no relevance is harder to remember. Supplementary to this I also relate teaching material to potential job roles and tasks which I have knowledge of (mostly Banking or Business related) in order communicate usefulness to students and keep things interesting.

Finally I believe teaching successfully is ultimately about listening to your students I constantly encourage students to question things and express anything they don't understand or are not too sure of. If a student looks unsure or hesitant about something I will ask open questions or get them to explain concepts to me in order to fully grasp their understanding. This also helps build their confidence and ability to express themselves accurately.

Personal Description:
I graduated from the University of Hertfordshire in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer and Network Technology. I then began working for an IT company as a computer technician, based within a local university, which gave me exposure to all sorts of IT problems! I then went on to run a chain of computer repair, maintenance and upgrade shops and have been doing this ever since.

I use ALL versions of Microsoft Windows from XP to Windows 8.1 daily, along with Apple Mac's OS X. My customers are approximately between 16 to 80 years of age, and I enjoy passing my knowledge on, no matter how technical / non-technical you are! I just need extra money to pay for my wedding next year, and this is something I know I can do very easily, as it is an extension of my day-to-day job. Tutoring Approach:

I love to see a student perform a task after using the knowledge that I've passed in a "follow my lead" based learning. I explain how things work the way they do (if you want to know), and I explain the logic sequence of steps you must take in order to do something such as search for a new recipe or compose an email to a friend. Once the basic knowledge is there, I'll take you through how to use Google to answer 90% of life's questions!

I like to use analogies with my explanations on certain tasks, as people learn differently. However, normally I go through what it is I'm trying to teach at least once before going through it again with my student in a thorough manner.

Teaching Experience:

During the last two years I have been teaching different courses at the University of Leicester, acquiring a strong experience in dealing with students. In particular during this and last year I have been teaching Latin and Ancient Greek to first year students. In the last two months I also have been teaching Latin to the children of the Overdale Infant and Jr. School, as part of the Outreach Program of the School of Archaeology and Ancient History. Furthermore, since last year I have been working as one to one study mentor in The AccessAbility Centre of the University where I support students with learning disabilities. Finally, when I was still in Italy I have been giving private lessons of Latin, Ancient Greek and Italian literature to high school and university students for three years.

Tutoring Approach:

I will have a different approach according to the language I will be teaching. For Italian, I will use a communicative approach. This means that I will deliver just a minimum of grammar and I will use the target language as much as possible so that the student will learn the grammar implicitly. On the other side, since Latin and Ancient Greek are extinct languages I will use a more traditional approach. Nevertheless, also in this case I will try to alternate grammar with literature in order to help the student to get a broader perception of the ancient world.

Personal Description:
I am a hard working individual who has done extremely well in education. I believe that some pupils do face some difficulties and as such, I want to help those who are committed to achieving their maximum potential. I am still studying my A-levels and have a lot of spare time which I want to make the most of. I am very mature for my age and believe in achieving success in everything I do.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring for a year now and feel very confident improving pupil's ability and ensuring progress. My ability to explain concepts and ideas is very clear and I always make sure my teaching material suits the needs of my students. I am very committed and the outcome of my students really matters to me.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching involved considering the needs of my students. I assess the needs of my students and see where their weaknesses lie. This way I can focus my time on where it is needed most. I am a very approachable person and my experience working with young pupil allows me to see what they require and how to adapt my teaching style accordingly.

I believe focussing on fundamental concepts and skills helps students to grow in confidence and realise they are capable of achieving much more than they initially believed.
Practicing past papers is a very effective way to both learn the target content and to learn how to read questions carefully and answer them effectively.

Personal Description:
I find teaching very interesting and exciting particularly because there is always something fresh to be added when opening up the world of the subject to a new person who inevitably has their own challenges as regards to their goals and current or past attainment. I like to see the connections between the language or literature being studied and the daily life of the student - to me this is the way to transmit the true importance of their studies to the student. I love to mix fun and creativity with more formal tests and drills, using variation in order that the learning does not stagnate.

After Scottish Highers and A Levels, I got into Cambridge and I graduated with a BA in English. Afterwards I did a Masters in Twentieth Century Literature at Goldsmiths, University of London before doing part of a PhD at Leeds University. Immediately folowing my academic studies I started working and volunteering in the charity sector, eventually helping to establish a new homelessness charity in Cambridge.I have been tutoring and teaching since I left university and now it is my career. I do believe tutoring is my vocation.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a tutor and teacher for about 7 years in total. My Masters specialism was in literature, and I have wealth of English literature and language teaching experience. I have worked with children from age 4 upwards and adults of all ages and ability levels. I have worked as a self-employed tutor and also in state-funded and private educational establishments.

Tutoring Approach:

I tailor my approach to the individual depending on their learning style and their areas of interest. I spend time getting to know the student and developing a rapport before preparing lessons which make the learning material appealing to that individual. I like to set timelines, goals and homework so that students have a tangible sense of their progress and achievements. I work with a reward system where students set their own reward for results or outcomes they will work towards. I have experience of students achieving excellent results, but for me it is important that the student progresses and achieves what is appropriate to them and their long term goals
