Personal Description:
I grew up in the UK and then worked in Indonesia for 10 years, teaching Indonesian scholars on pre-departure academic programs. I also taught cross-cultural and study skills courses. After Indonesia, I moved to Australia, where I worked at two universities in Brisbane, the University of Queensland and Queensland University of Technology. More recently I have worked on Exeter and Bath University's pre-sessional program. I'm a friendly, kind and patient person with a good sense of humour and I love teaching.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for 20 years, mainly in the UK, Australia and Indonesia. I have experience working with English language learners at all levels and particularly at the university level. I can prepare students before their academic study or can assist them when they have already started university.
I am also very experienced in exam preparation. Most of my work has been on IELTS preparation courses (I used to be an IELTS examiner) but also on FCE preparation programs. I currently teach students in groups and one-to-one and I am available for Skype classes.

Tutoring Approach:

I think it's important to listen to students and identify their individual needs. I try and see them as they are, without judgment and I also encourage them to see the facts about their language learning, rather than their opinions. Many students say they are 'bad students' and this does not help their learning. So I show them a different path where they can look at the specifics of what they are doing and how they can improve their skills step by step. This makes them feel better about themselves and their studies. It also gives them responsibility for their own learning.
I also bring humour into the classroom as I feel laughter is very important to the learning process. Some students have said that my classes are 'like being in a family' and I think that's a lovely compliment.

Personal Description:
I am an energetic and experienced English teacher and Assistant Head who strongly believes in building relationships with students that support their learning. I love travelling, literature (both classic and contemporary) and sports (especially football, rugby and cricket). Whatever level your daughter or son is at, I will make sure they progress to the next stage, whether that is excellent GCSE results, A Level results or entry to University.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently Assistant Head Teacher at Stoke College, near Sudbury, and have been teaching English for ten years. I have long experience in teaching and tutoring for students in Years 7-13, usually teaching AQA English Language and Literature GCSEs and OCR A Level. I have tutored students sitting different exam boards with great success, too. I began my teaching career at The Ashcombe School in Dorking, Surrey, before spending two years at Tiffin Girls' School, then the top ranked state school in the country, as Head of English. I have taught many students through to Oxford and Cambridge University entrance. I have taught Media Studies at A Level and my degree is Joint Honours History with English, so am always on hand to help with History or similar work.

Tutoring Approach:

I can give your child the support they need to build their confidence so they feel more able to complete school tasks, homework, coursework and exam revision. At exam level, I build on school work, revising techniques and consolidating the skills and topics learned so that students can reach their full potential in external exams. At the highest level, I will guide your son or daughter through textual annotations and literary study.

For students in Years 7-9, I have found it is often just as helpful to be able to assist and tutors in your son or daughter's full range of subjects, especially those that rely on written work, such as History, Geography and RE.

I bring an innovative and personalised approach to tutoring so your child never needs to feel that tutoring sessions are an extension of school; instead they are a way to look at English in a positive light so tutees can enjoy learning.

Tutoring Approach:

I support students with many different needs and situations. These include:

*dyslexia
*dyspraxia
*dyscalculia (difficulty with maths)
*self esteem or confidence issues
*children who struggle at school due to emotional or behavioural issues
*children who have missed school for various reasons
*children who are home educated
*adults who want to `catch up` or improve their English and maths
*college and university students who need support with essay writing, proofreading and exam revision techniques

Over the past 4 years in my role as a tutor, my students have made excellent progress in terms of confidence, catching up with age-related expectations and achieving the desired level or above in 11+ or Year Six SATs. I have a loyal student base and much of my work now comes from existing student recommendations.

Recent successes:

Children who have not responded to tuition in the past have really engaged with the subject and made good progress.

Children who were struggling with Year 6 SATs have achieved at least one level higher than predicted.

Those tutored for 11+ exams have passed and gained entry to their chosen school (Two to Wolverhampton Grammar, one to King Edward`s Birmingham).

Feedback from a Masters level student on completion of her dissertation:

I would like to express my deepest thanks to my support tutor Zoe whose support has been most invaluable, without which I could not have possibly completed this project, and I am forever grateful for her help.
(Taken with permission from the acknowledgements of her dissertation, May 2015).

2016 Results: All 11+ students received at least two offers, including City of London Boys, Bancroft's School, Chigwell School and Forest School. My name is Yang and I am a fully qualified Maths and Mandarin teacher (Qualified Teacher Register no. **Telephone Number Removed** working in an Outstanding rated school.I have finished my master degree from University of Southampton with distinction, PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Mathematics)) from King's College London. I was working as trader assistant ( yellow jacket ) in a top bank before changing to become a maths teacher. I have over six years experience in primary, entrance exam, GCSE and A-Level maths tutoring. I am always passionate for tutoring and I know how to make students' learning process enjoyable. My strong reputation has been built on my ability to improve my students' varying skills, ability and exam skills. I have unrivaled patience and understanding and I am able to bring the best maths tutoring experience to my students. I also have set up my own website with helpful maths resources for my students.

I am also a member of British Mathematical Association (BMA), London Mathematical Society (LMS), Association of Teachers of Mathematics (ATM) and British Society for Research into Learning Mathematics (BSRLM).

Currently I am working as a Maths and Mandarin teacher in an Outstanding rated school. Other students successfully got through entrance examination to top independent schools like City of London School, North London Collegiate School, Bancroft School, Chigwell School and Forest School.

Education:

King's College London
Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Mathematics) (PGCE)

University of Southampton
MSc. in Accounting and Finance (Distinction)

Tutoring Approach:

Quality is everything for me. Recent International Student Assessment (ISA) shows that Chinese students ranked best in the world at maths ( UK is ranked 28th for maths, Source: google "Shanghai students ranked best in the world at maths and science", The Telegraph).

As a British Chinese, I can tell you the secret of Chinese learning maths. I have a unique method of tutoring which can be adapted whatever the skill level and also unique exam techniques. But my first objective is to target my students' enthusiasm for the subject so they will be passionate to learn mathematics. Practice is also essential for learning maths, but a good tutor knows how to design different questions for effective practice. Finally,I usually believe that learning is a continuing process and if I am honored to be your tutor, I can not only help you learn the knowledge, but also master the art of learning until one day, you will be able to help others like I do.

Personal Description:
DO YOU NEED A TUTOR FOR EXAMS/RE-SIT EXAMS THIS YEAR? LOOK NO FURTHER!

GRADE 1 OUTSTANDING - OFSTED
I have been the Head of Accounting since 2006, at a large Catholic Sixth Form College in Hulme, Manchester. I am 39 years old, married with 2 children, living in Didsbury, South Manchester. I gained my degree in Economics and Finance in 1998 from Leicester University. I began teaching in 2002 so have many years of experience teaching Accounting.

I offer tutition at my home, either at the weekend, or weekday evenings. However, I am usually able to offer tuition during the school/college holidays.

Teaching Experience:

I completed my PGCE at Manchester University in 2002. I only teach Accounting AS and A2 Level, and this is therefore my main specialism. I can also help students in need of tutoring on the Finance elements of the Business Studies A Level, or on Accouning/Finance elements of Business/Accounting/Finance degree courses.

I teach the AQA specification. However, I can also tutor students who are following the OCR specification.

Many tutors are not willing to advertise the results they have achieved with students. I recommend you read the section below on the results i have achieved with my A Level Accounting students.

Also, many tutors seem to offer tuition in a wide variety of subjects. Are they really specialists in so many different subjects? I am an Accounting specialist, and only offer tuition in Accounting or the Finance elements of a Business course. If you need a Maths tutor, then hire a Maths specialist. If you need an Accounting tutor, then hire me!

Tutoring Approach:

Many other tutors seem to describe their strategies/relationships etc, without mentioning anything concrete like exam results! Surely the one thing a prospective student wants to know about is exam results!?!? Read on.

I have an incredibly strong track record of results at A Level Accounting. Compare the results of my students against the national benchmarks below. Please compare the difference between my students, and the benchmarks. We are WAY ahead!

My A2 Accounting students in 2016:

Grade A*-B = 51%

Benchmark A2 Accounting 2016:

Grade A*-B = 35%

Each department within the college is graded according to the college's own internal validation procedure. I have been graded as 1 'OUTSTANDING' for 10 years on the row, since I became head of the department!!!

The Accounting department was also graded as 1 'OUTSTANDING' in the last OFSTED report in Jan 2010. Key Findings from Ofsted:

"A high proportion of students achieve grades A and B. In A-Level Accounting more than two thirds of students gained a high grade (A-B). In AS Accounting, almost four times the national average achieved a high grade (A-B)."

I have been awarded grade 1 on the ALPS measure for value added on 3 seperate occasions in recent years. This means i add more value to my students than any other college in the country. Value added measures the difference between what the Government predicts a student should achieve at A Level based on their GCSE performance and what they actually achieve.

Here are the previous years results, so you can see that the performance is ALWAYS impressive, and WAY ABOVE benchmark.

My A2 Accounting students in 2015:

Grade A*-B = 48%

Benchmark A2 Accounting 2015:

Grade A*-B = 34%

My A2 Accounting students in 2014:

Grade A*-B = 56%

Benchmark A2 Accounting 2014:

Grade A*-B = 36%

My A2 Accounting students in 2013:

Grade A*-B = 68%

Benchmark A2 Accounting 2013:

Grade A*-B = 38%

My A2 Accounting students in 2012:

Grade A*-B = 68%

Benchmark A2 Accounting 2012:

Grade A*-B = 36%

My A2 Accounting students in 2011:

Grade A*-B = 54.54%
Grade A*-E = 100%

Benchmark A2 Accounting 2011:

Grade A*-B = 35.12%
Grade A*-E = 94.89%

My A2 Accounting students in 2010:

Grade A*-B = 67.35%
Grade A*-E = 100%

Benchmark A2 Accounting 2010:

Grade A*-B = 37.36%
Grade A*-E = 93.94%

My A2 Accounting students in 2009:

Grade A*-B = 66.67%
Grade A*-E = 100%

Benchmark A2 Accounting 2009:

Grade A*-B = 35.83%
Grade A*-E = 93.44%

My A2 Accounting students in 2008:

Grade A*-B = 77.27%

Personal Description:
Hello, I am a 23 year old final year student of French and German at the University of Hull who is very passionate about languages and also studied English Language up until A Level. I am happy to travel to my students for tuition so the student can learn in the comfort of their own home. I lived in both France and Germany last year for a semester each and would be happy to help out with any language struggles, as I understand first hand how daunting learning and speaking a language can be and I aim to help my students feel as comfortable as possible.

Teaching Experience:

I have work experience teaching voluntarily at a Primary school from my home town in Bedford, along with studying language in pre schools and nurserys as part of my A Level English Language course. I am aspiring to become a teacher when I graduate next year.

Tutoring Approach:

My aim is to get my students talking while making them feel at ease and as comfortable as possible. Languages can be very daunting, and I want to instill some confidence in my students along with aiding in any grammatical errors and helping to build vocabulary for my students. I have a large range of resources, such as textbooks with grammar exercises up to A Level qualification and beyond, and will be very happy to help out in any areas where students are struggling.

I feel that I have a good approach with younger students due to being young myself and helping my sister and siblings of friends throughout my school life with their language struggles. I am a friendly and approachable person who wants to make lessons fun and educational rather than a chore, and I feel like this will massively help students retain information easier and motivate them further in their studies from personal experience.

I am not perfect and am not aiming for perfection, I am enthusiastic and engaging and am willing to adapt my teaching skills from student to student. Some students prefer working from a textbook with worksheets, and some prefer a more vocal approach to language learning and I am very aware of how to adapt from student to student.

Personal Description:
I'm a student heading to The Queens College, Oxford in 2017 to study Classics with an emphasis on Philosophy, my main area of interest. Im the oldest of five children and generally a very patient, bookish person who tends to get on with people well. Throughout my schooling I was told that my goals were unachieveable because of dyslexia, and I have worked hard to prove that to be false, so I am dedicated to helping others when ordinary schooling isn't quite enough - be that to push an A to an A* or pass an exam or just improve skills in any given area.
Outside academics, I play the piano and enjoy spending time with my family and my dogs.

Teaching Experience:

During school I took part in several different tutoring programmes; teaching science master classes to underprivileged 4-8 year olds, tutoring for the 11+ and CE exams, tutoring for GCSE level students in Maths, all three sciences, English, and religious studies, and tutoring fellow AS and A Level students during sixth form. These have ranged from people who want extra revision and marked work before exams to people who are struggling and retaking exams multiple times, to people who are just learning English. In total I have around 150-200 hours of tutoring experience.

I've worked with many people with learning difficulties and disabilities, and am very experienced in finding ways to help people learn and revise. Often people with dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD, and other learning difficulties struggle to learn in conventional ways, and having had to be unconventional myself, I'm committed to helping people learn in ways which work well for them. One of my brothers is Autistic and non verbal, and I work with him using his special interests to make the subject engaging and working with text and images.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is centred around the premise that every person learns in a different way, and every person deserves to fulfill their goals and potential.

When tutoring younger children, I make learning fun through games and grounding the work in their interests; for example, when I was teaching English as a foreign language to 4 year old twins, we played games like hide and seek and football, where they would win if they used the right English words.

Of course, every subject requires a different kind of teaching; English language gcse can be practiced with excerpts from students favourite books or writing about favourite tv shows, whereas psychology A Level is largely about evaluative skills, so critical conversations about theories and studies are key. Each subject cultivates specific skill sets, and I aim to work with students on their own weaknesses and help them perfect their strengths; I will mark work and discuss it with them in depth, create handouts and revision notes with them, and work through papers and questions with them.
