Personal Description:
As a school student, I was a confirmed hater of Science! I am still haunted by the drafty labs and memories of sitting in silence on wobbly stools taking notes from ancient text books and carrying out odd practicals with the ubiquitous Potato tuber. It wasn't until I started studying Science as an adult learner in an FE college, where I was taught by inspiring and enthusiastic lecturers, who illustrated important concepts with analogies, diagrams and genuinely interesting practicals, that I began to realise that science was relevant to me and was "my thing".

This experience has stayed with me and has given me a passion for making science exciting and largely the reason that I chose a career in personal tutoring.

I am a professional full-time private tutor. I have recently graduated with an MSc in Science (Medicinal Chemistry and science education studies). I have also graduated with a First class honours degree in Life Sciences (Open) and I have completed a Post-graduate Certificate in Professional Studies in Education, specialising in Science Education.

Teaching Experience:

I specialised in A level and GCSE tuition and I have extensive experience working with a wide range of students, from those who are struggling and need help understanding the key concepts to those who do well in science but need support to develop the exam technique that will get them the top grades.

I have tutored students working towards exams with all the major exam boards, including AQA (AS, A2 Biology and Chemistry, GCSE core science, GCSE Additional Science, GCSE Biology and Chemistry), OCR (AS, A2 Biology and Chemistry, Salter's Chemistry, 21st Century Science GCSE), WJEC (A level Biology), EDEXCEL (AS and A2 Biology and Chemistry, GCSE, IGCSE)

I also have much experience working with students entering for exams as external candidates and I can provide assistance in making arrangements for this.

In my professional life prior to tuition, I was employed as a company trainer in the catering industry, working with newly employed staff on an individual basis to help them develop the skills and knowledge relevant to their new positions and training existing staff to take on more senior roles. This gave me extensive experience of one-to-one tuition and creating individual training strategies.

Tutoring Approach:

When I begin tutoring a new student, I spend some time getting to know the individual and we begin by discussing their current feelings about Science and what they would like to get out of the tutorial sessions. I also carry out an assessment of the individual's learning style (sounds scary, but it's not, it's just a short quiz). By discovering how the individual learns best, I can structure the tutorials so that they are composed of activities that will be both effective and enjoyable. In all cases, I endeavor to make Science enjoyable and relevant to the individual student as possible and tailor the explanations to their particular interests.

As well as providing subject-specific tuition, I place particular emphasis on the development of study and exam skills. Where relevant, this includes teaching essay writing skills, how to revise, how to approach exams and specific scientific skills, such as data analysis and evaluation, which are often assessed in course work. I also offer tutorial sessions which focus just on study skills, for those who are comfortable with their subject knowledge but need extra support in these areas.

As well as traditional face to face sessions, I also offer fully online lessons using skype and an interactive whiteboard which allows me to interact with students in the same way as in a face-to-face lesson. If you are interested in online tuition but are not sure how it would work please contact me to discuss.

Personal Description:
Hello! I'm a friendly and qualified 1-to-1 tutor with lots of experience, living in South East London.

I've lived and worked in Spain on three separate occasions: I find its culture, history and languages fascinating.

I also teach English as a foreign language, and you couldn't be in a better city to learn English - London is fantastic! Welcome!

Teaching Experience:

I did a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages at Exeter University in 2007, and a CELTA (TEFL) at St Giles College, Brighton in 2005. Since then I've been teaching on and off in the UK and Spain, and completing my Masters degree in Spanish Translation.

I have taught Young Learners of 5+ years, through teenagers and up to adults - the majority of my experience is with teenagers.

My 1-1 students have all passed their GCSE, AS and A2 level exams with B's, A's and A*'s. Moreover, we have built good relationships together and learnt from each other along the way. References can be supplied if you wish.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a creative person, spontaneous yet thoughtful, and I like to tailor my approach on an individual basis. I try to keep my lessons a fair mix of listening, speaking, reading and writing practice though, all with good momentum and interest levels. You tell me what interests you - from One Direction to global warming! - and we'll incorporate it into activities so that you are more engaged with your learning.

My speciality is grammar; helping you overcome any grammar-related fears in foreign languages, to get you confident about your own ability to comprehend how language works and start manipulating it yourself.

I can travel to you, for a slightly higher hourly fee, or you can come to my house. In any case, I look forward to hearing from and working with you!

Personal Description:
There are plenty of "tutors" who offer many different subjects over a wide age range. However, I only offer A-level or I.B. Diploma (or equivalent)in maths, physics and chemistry to students who are still at school. I keep to just this because (so I'm told) I'm very good at teaching these subjects at this level, and it's what I enjoy doing.

As well as teaching I have published four maths books, available in hard-copy and kindle versions. One at GCSE level, two at A-level, and one that can be used by both age groups. These have sold worldwide.

It should also be noted that I only tutor from my home. With the number of students I tutor travelling would not be practical. There are plenty of tutors that are cheaper than me and prepared to travel, but a look at their qualifications and experience might make you think twice about using them.

Teaching Experience:

I have qualifications from excellent UK universities in all the subjects that I offer, and I am a UK qualified teacher. However, I'm very proud of the fact that most of my classroom teaching has been done outside the UK. This means that I have taught in good, well resourced, schools, which are not afflicted by the malaise from which so many UK schools suffer, and where the academic expectations of the school, parents and students are high. In such schools one is able to concentrate on ones teaching, which is seldom the case in UK schools. This is why I am now a full-time tutor. I can devote my energies completely to teaching the subjects I enjoy. In this capacity I teach many more hours A-level than the vast majority of classroom teachers. In fact, I probably teach more A-level in each of my subjects than most school based teachers do.

As already mentioned, as well as teaching in England I`ve also taught in New Zealand, Germany and Italy. I`ve taught across the entire 11 to 18 age range and at all abilities from struggling 11 year old students to top set 18 year old students. I`ve taught in all-boys schools, all-girls schools, mixed schools, FE and sixth form colleges. This has been at schools that get good results!

As well as A-Level, I`ve taught IB Diploma: at both Standard and Higher Levels (also Mathematical Studies). This has been mainly maths, but also some physics and chemistry. I`ve given intensive revision courses in Standard Level Mathematics, and Higher Level Mathematics, which were very well received. I should also mention that IB Diploma is more demanding than A-level - on both the student and the teacher.

So, whether you need help with your chemistry, physics, or ANY area of maths, I`ve got recent experience teaching all of these. This has been across several exam boards: Edexcel, AQA and OCR.

Among the schools whose students I have recently tutored are: Dame Alice Owen`s School, Enfield County School, Enfield Grammar School, Highlands School, Hockerill Anglo-European College, Princess Helena College, Southgate School, St. Michael`s Catholic Grammar School, The Latymer School, The Royal Masonic School for Girls, and Woodhouse College.

Tutoring Approach:

I`m typically very informal and relaxed, which most students seem to appreciate.

When you come to me, you get to choose what you want help with. Unlike far too many tutors I won`t try to tell you what the lesson should be about, unless this is something you want me to do. In fact, some of my students have been known to ask for (and receive) help in maths, physics and chemistry, all in one session.

Personal Description:
I have a First Class Hons. in Drama from the University of East Anglia. I have also attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London for actor training. I was a drama tutor for nearly 3 years at Theatrix Performing Arts School in St Albans, Hertfordshire. I have tutored students for A-Level studies, drama school entry, Trinity College examinations and personal development. Alongside my teaching I am a working professional actor and director. I am co-artistic director of Speechless Theatre Company.

Teaching Experience:

At Theatrix Performing Arts School I directed students through Trinity College London acting examinations as well as public performances in shows. In autumn 2013 my students achieved a 100% pass rate with Merits or Distinctions in their performance examinations.

I have worked with private students on both their practical and theoretical drama school exams at GCSE and A-Level standard.

Furthermore, I worked as a volunteer English teacher on the island of Roatan in Honduras, Central America for one year. I taught Spanish and Garifuna speaking children aged 12 to 24 in basic spoken and written English.

Tutoring Approach:

I encourage a focus on movement and text analysis when working with students on the practical and performance aspects of theatre. I use exercises, improvisations and games to engage them with the scenes they are working on.

I try to facilitate a students' personal creativity when working with them on theoretical theatre work; I encourage them to use their own ideas and opinions. It is my view that theatre is not objective, so allowing personal style is very important.

Personal Description:
Im 18 Years old and have had over 11 years art experience, always drawing, being creative musically, achieiving an A* at art GCSE, scoring the highest possible mark out of the year. Whether your wanting to draw black and white (my forte), colouring, realism, to surrealism style, sketching, painting, inking, etc. I have done it all but as an artist you have to be quite versatile, and through this you'll find one style or way of drawing or expressing the you. As I have a passion for the Arts, I also took interest in Music Technology, which has allowed my visualistic skills to combine with audio and music. So I also teach music grades Abrsm (grade 3 below), and (drumming grades up to grade 5).

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience for arts comes from teaching friends for the past 2 years, helping with concepts and ideas, people doing GCSE's, A-level's, having many friends come to me for help and tips for A-level work. I have had enough experience to know what works and what doesn't, or is preferred. I hope to help you like I have with many of my friends and tutees.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to learning will be asking you what you want /need to do, whether this is for GCSEs, A-level, or for other qualifications/hobbies. I will see what your strengths and weakness's are, and help you develop the areas your interested in. I will take a kind, but demanding approach so you get the best of out of each lesson/session. For qualifications I will help you also relate research ideas more methodically, and help you grow independently, and will promise to improve grades to high standard for your educational interests and reach qualification standards. I hope to help as much as possible. I will provide basic equipment, but you will need to bring own equipment, as you might have an idea what your more interested in more.

Personal Description:
Covering letter and statement

I believe art has always been a universal language, between people from different cultures and people of same culture but with different backgrounds, interests and experiences.
To me, art has to give a message, a feedback to the society and creates a some kind of social awareness of changes that always happen in our world.
In my work, I like producing art pieces which will bring people together in a discussion or an argument. To make them stop and think about things in life they may never considered before, which they will only enjoy doing so through the fantasy of art

I have been a loyal student to BCU, where I obtained, both my Fine Art degree and my MA in Art and Education Practice. Planning for my PhD research study too. This post will help me through my research and will give me a good access to both teaching and research. I have been looking for this opportunity to teach alongside my PhD study.
I became a practicing artist and researcher in the subject of Britishness and modern values since 2003. Working from my studio as well as researching . I am interested in culture diversity and community. I am quite focused on research and combining my work with strong evidence. I also have been teaching Arabic and have strong knowledge of the Middle East culture and I can give support to students coming from the Middle East, including helping them to gain confidence and engage with other fellow students. I also have great experience with special needs, being a mother of an autistic boy.
I have been developing my research skills for 13 years. I am quite an independent researcher and always looking for new methods to reach the maximum point I get to with my research. I believe in creativity and in carrying out new methods that suite different projects. Supporting my art work with strong research give me great credibility.
Supporting others too is a great passion for me. I always been involved in teaching both Arabic and art. I like passing my experience and knowledge to students, directing them to new research methods and making them independent researchers themselves. Good results requires good supervision. I believe students fail when they were not giving the right support or did not have a supervisor who understands their potential and help them enough throughout their study.

Khloud

Teaching Experience:

I have been also teaching Arabic to all age groups both in schools and privately for 16 years

Tutoring Approach:

I enjoy working with others in their projects and I like engaging them in mine. Good team work is essential for me. I have great experience in communicating with people of different cultures and backgrounds. I always update my research and analyse my outcomes and findings regularly. I am quite calm and patient. I listen to students and give them time, attention and respect.
I believe in fairness and equality. I have a great respect for education and all what it stands for in terms of diversity and giving equal opportunities to every student and member of staff. Helping others reaching their potential in a safe environment is essential in education programs and practices
I am most interested in helping students becoming Encouraging creativity in research carried out by students. No limits.

Personal Description:
I am a professional and enthusiastic native teacher of English from Cambridge, UK.

Bilingual in English and French, and also speaking Russian and Italian fluently, I am passionate about languages and cultures as a way to understand the world around us.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 3 years of experience teaching English, both in the UK and overseas. My professional experience includes working in language schools, a secondary school and as a private tutor. Students I have worked with ranged from age 5 to adults, from beginner to advanced level.

Classes I have taught include: General English, Business English, exam preparation (IELTS, Cambridge PET, FCE, CAE, CPE, International Baccalaureate), preparation for international schools and conversation.

Tutoring Approach:

My focus is on the communicative method, to practise speaking as much as possible, and encourage fluency, whilst setting aside specific times during the lesson to work on grammar and accuracy (error correction). It's up to you if we also work on reading and writing. My students are very happy with the progress they make and rapid improvement in fluency - references are available on request!

I work with various materials - the Cambridge Face to Face textbooks, news articles, videos, literature, audio clips and business scenarios, depending on your individual needs and goals.

***The first lesson and, if desired, assessment of English level, is FREE.*** Lessons can be held in Cambridge (20/h) or by Skype (15/h). You can contact me to arrange this by email through the online form or by phone.

I have extensive experience in tutoring students in chemistry on both sides of the Atlantic, having lived and worked in the US prior to moving to London. In addition to tutoring, I also taught organic chemistry at San Francisco State University on a part-time basis.

Teaching Experience:

I started teaching chemistry to undergraduate students while at graduate school at University of California, Santa Cruz about 15 years ago. I taught general and organic chemistry. After receiving my Ph.D., I worked as a research scientist for a startup company in Silicon Valley, California, working on cutting edge research in nanotechnology. I have been a full-time chemistry tutor for the past 4 years, teaching students on both sides of the Atlantic. I have tutored students in GCSE level chemistry, A-level chemistry, and college level chemistry. I am well familiar with the curriculum and stringent requirements of GCSE and A-level examinations.

Tutoring Approach:

I see my job as to provide the missing ingredients from the educational experience. For some students, the lecture or the book simply does not make sense. I will explain the concept in as many different ways as needed until the student gets it. For some students more practice problems are needed and I am happy to provide as many problems as needed and guide the student through a solution. We are all different and learn in different fashions. I see my job as to find the right way and to unlock that potential that I see in every student who comes to me.
