Personal Description:
I am an MBBS doctor and have worked at St Georges Medical University of London. I am a trained PBL / CBL tutor and conducted tutorials at this university. I have completed my Diploma in Proofreading from NCC college of learning and work as a proofreader aswell.

I am interested in teaching profession. I have almost seven year experience of private and online tuitions of Biology, Combined Science to the students of GCSE and GCE and Anatomy to the students of MBBS.

I am very passionate about teaching. My teaching techniques differ with students. I know how to help weak students by giving small assessments. However, I don't believe in passive Learning, I want my students to be Active learner. So, my lesson is not based on just explaining topics but, I make sure that students understand that and do some work their-self.

I do different kind of topic based activities which enhance student's confidence and they can write their answers in more depth. Moreover, revision sessions are the prime importance of my lesson. I do believe, if students act according to my suggestions, the way I guide them, they will get high scores.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught Biology to GCSE and College level students in groups and individuals. From 1997-continue. I am aware of all exam board (AQA, OCR & EDEXCEL)

I do Problem and Case base learning at St Georges University of London (First, Second & T year)

I have taught Biology to AS/A2 level student in May-June 2009 - continue

I have taught Pediatrics, Obstetrics to a student of imperial college through face to face in 2009- continue.

I have good experience of teaching and supervising OSCE and have taught this to student of st Georges University of London in Feb-June 2009.

I have taught Pathology to a student of US Via correspondence in 2009.

I have interest & experience of teaching in the following areas;
GCSE, AS / A2 (GCE) levels, Physical Education (Academic side) & IB:
Biology
Combined Science
Applied Science

MBBS, Nursing, and Physiotherapy Degree Levels:
Medicine
Gynecology /Obstetrics
Pediatrics
Anatomy
Pathology
Physiology
Microbiology
Pharmacology
Forensics

Tutoring Approach:

As a tutor I elicit response that demonstrates understanding. During teaching I create the space for students to learn. For Instance, the art of my teaching is to ask students to demonstrate what they already know about the topic because it helps students in building their understanding based on their knowledge.

I can teach either face to face or through correspondence and I give students time to learn at their own pace. I always ensure that students have displayed their understandings to me. I am approachable and friendly so students can pay attention and feel they can ask question.

In addition, I also provide small assessments to assess the outcome of my teaching and student's understanding and their performance

I help my students in several forms. The most common of which are:
Preparing Notes and Handouts
Preparing Model Answers
Marking Work
Providing Mcqs for degree students
Helping in course work

Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified Spanish teacher and completed my PGCE in Spanish with French at Newcastle University in 2009. I then went on to gain Qualified Teacher Status in 2010. All of my teaching qualifications are up to date and can be produced, along with my current CRB form, in the first lesson.

I am fluent in Spanish and studied Law with Spanish at Nottingham University. This involved living for a year in Valencia which gave me a wonderful insight into Spanish culture. I then went on to spend a year teaching English in Peru, a country which I have returned to visit several times. I have also spent time living in Honduras where I undertook voluntary work in a Primary School. These experiences have made Spanish one of my great passions and I hope to pass this on to my students.

After working for several years as a Languages teacher in the North East, in December 2013 I decided to leave my post in a South Tyneside school to spend more time with my young daughter. This move will now enable me to spend more time on Private Tuition.

Teaching Experience:

Since 2009 I have worked as a Languages teacher in a number of schools in the North East. My responsibilities have included:
- Teaching Spanish at Key Stage 3 and at GCSE and A level
- Writing my own Schemes of Work
- Conducting and marking GCSE written and speaking controlled assessments
- Teaching all aspects of Spanish grammar at AS and A2 level
- Teaching Cultural topics for A2 AQA syllabus

Private Tuition:

Main highlights include:

- Tutoring a student who needed to re-sit her A2 Spanish paper to attend the University of her choice. This student was successful in her re-sit and has since gone on to study Spanish at University.

- Tutoring an English speaking student who had lived in Tenerife and was unable to study Spanish at his school on relocation to the North East. I solely tutored him through the AQA AS course in which he gained a grade A at the age of 13.
I subsequently tutored him throughout the whole of the A2 course, including both cultural topics.

Tutoring Approach:

I am extremely patient and considerate and always strive to get the best from my students. In my approach to exam preparation, I believe in the importance of consolidating learning through self study, homework and past exam papers.

(Please note, the below rates are based on the student travelling to my home. I am also happy to travel to the student and a reasonable rate for travel will be negotiated for travel time and expenses).

Personal Description:
With me as your tutor, not only do you receive a first-class education in a supportive environment, but you also get the benefit of my extensive experience and ongoing research.

Last year, I completed my funded PhD on Samuel Beckett and Theodor W. Adorno at Royal Holloway, University of London. I completed my Masters study in Literature and Philosophy in September 2012, graduating with Distinction, and received a First Class Honours BA in English from Royal Holloway in 2010. Between my Undergraduate and Masters study I worked for a year as an Editorial Assistant in the Health Sciences division of Hachette UK.

I also offer a proofreading service and online tuition.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a Visiting Lecturer at Royal Holloway since September 2014 and have taught on the courses 'Modernist Literature'; 'Reorienting the Novel'; 'Inventing the Novel'; 'Fundamental Questions in Philosophy'; and 'Special Author: Samuel Beckett'. I have received excellent student feedback, with over 95% of my students agreeing that the seminars significantly furthered their knowledge. A number of the students last year identified seminars as the aspect of the course that helped them increase their knowledge and skills, with comments including 'engaging and approachable' and 'very helpful essay feedback'.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that each student requires entirely different strategies for the optimum level of learning. It is important for them to be taught in a positive and open environment, where they are encouraged not only to develop academically, but also to enjoy the experience of learning.

Whilst I recognise the need to cram for exams in our education system, I still believe that excellent grades can be achieved without compromising original thought and extra-curricular study.

I also offer proof-reading services if you do not require face to face tuition but only some help on a particular piece of work.

Personal Description:
I am a Foundation Year 2 doctor currently working in Brighton and Sussex University NHS Trust. I graduated from Imperial College School of Medicine in 2015 with Distinctions in pre-clinical science, clinical science, medical science and clinical practice. I achieved a first-class honour in my BSc in Neuroscience and Mental Health. I obtained A* in GCSE Science and Maths as well as A (A* not introduced at the time) in A level Maths, Biology and Chemistry.

Teaching Experience:

Pre-A level maths and science
I have always had a passion for teaching. During the course of my medical school, I have taught maths and science at various levels including GCSE and Year 11-14 with great success. I gained a tremendous amount of personal satisfaction from watching my students gaining confidence and interest in maths and science, as well as improvement in grade.

Medical student turoing
I have been involved in a variety of medical student teaching including OSCE/PACES teaching, mock examination examiners and EMQ teaching. I have also had experience in tutoring medical school applications/ personal statements and have been on the medical school interview panels at Imperial College School of Medicine.
I have gained qualification in the Toronto university online teaching course.

Note: I can tutor at my flat as well as at the tutee's flat. Travel/parking fee needs to be covered by the tutee.

Tutoring Approach:

Pre-A level maths and science
I believe that every student has a different way of learning and as a teacher, it is my job to explore the learning style specific to the student and it is my job to inspire interest and confidence in the student. Often, I get feedback from students that the best thing about my teaching is the fact that I made them feel more confident to tackle the problems themselves and to trust their own judgement. I believe that this is very important, especially in maths and science because this is where creativity and problem-solving skills begin. I also believe in creating a solid foundation. I encourage students to always work from first principle, not just memorise formulas and really think about the basics and start working it out from there in a logical way. I feel that this is especially important in tackling more complex problems, which is what a lot of students struggle with.

Medical student tutoring
OSCE/PACES teaching: I like to focus on the basics and I emphasise the importance of getting the technique right. I use case-based discussions to stimulate students to think of about the history, examination, investigation and management. I teach students how to formulate differential diagnoses and come up with a management plan.

EMQ teaching: I focus on the technique of asnwering questions. Every question has a key word which steer you in the right direction, and my focus is for students to learn to identify these key words and select the best posisble option.

Medical school application: I get to know my student, understand their strength and weaknesses as well as their motivation and experience and tweak it to formulate the best possible portfolio to present to the medical school.

Personal Description:
I am a Final Year Medical Student at St Georges University. I attended Wallington High School for Girls and achieved 3 A grades in biology, chemistry and maths. At GCSE, I achieved 8 A* grades and 5 A grades. I am a patient, reliable and trustworthy person and ensure any pupil of mine will be encouraged to reach their full potential and much more. I am full of enthusiasm and believe everyone has the ability to obtain good grades with hard work and perseverance in order to have a bright and promising future. This has been proven with all of the tuition jobs I have taken on.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored all ages from primary school children on help to pass secondary school entrance examinations to pupils sitting GCSEs for maths, english literature and language as well as the sciences. I have obtained good reviews across the board and find tutoring a rewarding job to see pupils grow and achieve their full potential.

Tutoring Approach:

I understand every person's unique way of learning and tutor to accommodate these individual needs. I believe the best way for a person to learn is through bursts of theory and a lot of worked examples and practice.

Personal Description:
I have a background in senior industrial and commercial management, both in the UK and overseas; also senior experience in the public sector (local government and NHS). I took time out in my thirties to gain my PGCE.

Teaching Experience:

I have never taught full-time (although I was once up to around two-thirds of a full timetable). I have worked in further education colleges and as a supply-teacher, mostly in secondary. In addition, I have long experience as a governor of my old private-sector school, so understand very well the requirements for successful 11+ and 13+ entrance. I have been tutoring since 2000, and have a multitude of "success-stories".

Tutoring Approach:

First and foremost: flexibility. Equally, I have a wealth of life-experience, across sectors, so can, as my students have often remarked, bring subjects to life: they are seldom bored, if ever. I also have a large stock of teaching resources and past examination-papers and tests. I combine light-heartedness and a level of informality with a focus on the need to meet objectives and achieve results(sometimes having set them).

Personal Description:
I live in Cumbria and have a range of work experiences to draw on, including researching for the BBC daily survey and the Centre for Social Policy Research and Development. I have also worked as a housemother for children with learning difficulties, as an advocate within the voluntary sector and as an advocacy development worker.

After gaining my PhD, my more recent work has been as an Education lecturer in higher education which has also involved me in a number of research initiatives, tutoring undergraduate and postgraduate students and working on research governance and ethics. I have a wide range of peer reviewed publications and a number of current book contracts. I believe education is a right for all people at all levels and that it is best viewed as a lifelong experience.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked at a college teaching A level Sociology and more recently at a Russell Group university for 8 years teaching a wide variety of topics to undergraduate and postgraduate students including sociology, social policy and politics, social psychology, social theory, person centred approaches, gender studies, disability theory, social research, critical thinking, communication & study skills. My last two national student survey results gave 93% and 100% for quality.

I have also previously taught on women returning to work courses through the University of Lancaster as well as youth and community and training the trainers courses.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a student centred approach to tutoring. Each person has different needs and different approaches to learning. Initially we will assess your needs and preferences together and work out how to deliver teaching in the most effective way for you to achieve your goals. I also encourage a proactive approach where students learn to take responsibility for their learning in between person to person tuition. This is especially important for students going on to university education.

Personal Description:
My name is Rebecca and I am an enthusiastic and hardworking teacher. I am 23 years old and believe that my friendly, patient approach to teaching allows children to reach their full potential. I am flexible and I will use a variety of teaching methods to help with English and Maths at a primary level.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience of teaching across the primary age groups and I have experience of working in one-to-one situations in a classroom. I have planned for all abilities and I have ensured that my work is differentiated according to each child's varying needs; this will reflect in my tutoring. During my classroom teaching experience, I have gained ideas for different techniques to help children with their English and Maths; this will again reflect in my tutoring. For example, I often believe that a practical approach helps significantly with Maths and will incorporate this into my tutoring.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a friendly and patient individual whose tutoring will be tailored to my tutee's needs. I believe that a calm approach is essential and that each tutee learns in their own unique ways; therefore I will find a way to help based on how the tutee learns best. I am very approachable and encouraging and will build a positive environment for the tutee to learn to the best of their ability.

Skills test: I have passed and completed my skills tests for maths and literature this is required by all teachers.

Chemistry certificate: I have a chemistry certificate for subject knowledge enhancement from Canterbury Christ Church University, for A-Level chemistry.

University degrees: I have two degrees, one for my bachelors in integrated science. My second is a PGCE chemistry 11-18 degree for teaching. These were achieved at Canterbury Christ Church University.

Although not every private lesson can have an experiment. I do believe that even though the lessons are outside of a lab, there are still chances to learn from small experiments. I see this as a great opportunity for the students to see what they are learning. Students will also be able to put knowledge to practice, safely.

I have a lot of availability and I will work around what the student requires. I also work weekends and school holidays.

Tutoring Approach:

One thing that is extremely clear when working in a school, is that all students learn differently.
Everybody is a genius. But If you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid ("Albert Einstein"). These are the lines I work from as a teacher and truly bespoke my lessons to the students I am teaching. The reason for this is to get the best possible outcome for the lesson and the student.

Hi there!

My name is Hamish and I've just finished my second year studying Natural Sciences at Christ's College, Cambridge. Developing a deep understanding of the natural world is something I find incredibly satisfying and I really enjoy helping others gain a solid grasp it too.

My background is firmly rooted in the physical sciences - at school I studied Maths (pure), Physics, Chemistry and Maths (mechanics) to Advanced Higher level (equivalent to A-level in England) and achieved A* grades in all. In my first year at Cambridge I studied Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Materials Science, achieving first class grades in all of these subjects and averaging 79 across the board, placing me 14th out of 637 students in my year. In my second year I specialised in Physics and Maths and achieved a first in my examinations. I think this shows I have a deep understanding of my subject and would be able to really get to the root of my students' problems.

Teaching Experience:

In terms of experience, I have tutored Advanced Higher Physics and Maths for around a year now and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I used to volunteer as a Youth Leader for my local Scouts group so have experience working with young people. In addition, at Christ's I took part in access events such as open days and student shadowing schemes which required me to be DBS checked.

Tutoring Approach:

In terms of teaching style, I aim to improve my students by really making sure they understand the fundamentals of what I'm teaching them rather than trying to make them simply rote learn knowledge. I also am a firm believer in making sure students are continuously practising and applying their knowledge by doing past paper questions - nothing prepares you for an exam better than doing the questions from previous years. I would aim to set questions from past papers as homework and then guide tutees through solutions in our next session.
