Teaching Experience:

I have been working as an Assistant Examiner of OCR (Oxford Cambridge and RSA) and CIE (University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate) for GCE AS and A2 level Physics since April 2010 and also been working as an OCR Moderator for GCE AS Physics since May 2013. I have been working as an Assistant Examiner of IBO (International Baccalaureate Organisation) for higher level Physics since August 2010. I have also been working as an Assistant Examiner of AQA for GCE A2 Physics since May 2014. I taught AS and A2 Physics (OCR Physics B) at Gosford Hill School, Kidlington, North Oxford, as a Physics teacher during the period 25 January 2011 - 21 July 2011. I have been teaching A-level equivalent Physics courses to Foundation students at INTO Manchester, Manchester, since May 2014.

When I was a PhD student, I worked as a part-time Lecturer in Physics at Brunel University, Uxbridge, UB8 3PH, UK and taught various Physics courses at UG levels such as Nuclear Physics, Optics, Electricity & Magnetism and Mechanics, etc.

I am an inspiring, self-motivating and dynamic teacher with extensive experience in teaching at the UK academies, selective schools and a number of top boarding schools. As a result, I have acquired specialized knowledge of UK and Chinese educational systems and a flexible approach to teaching which is most relevant to the demands of the post.

Similarly, my strong academic record indicates that I am well-qualified for the job. In particular, I am currently studying Mandarin Chinese PGCE course at Institute of Education, which leads the UK for education training. The course has provided me with in-depth methodology skills, highly suited to the UK framework for teaching Mandarin Chinese. As part of this training, I have undergone intense observations across a wide range of school placements. This has provided me with practical experience of developing schemes of work in line with the National Curriculum of Mandarin Chinese.

Furthermore, during my school placements training, I have found this experience immensely rewarding and have developed an approach to teaching which aims to challenge and engage young minds. I have developed skills in teaching critical thinking and learnt how to nurture innovation and original thought. I instill high expectations in pupils and encourage self-efficacy as a tool for enabling achievement. I will bring energy and enthusiasm to the school's extra-curricular activities. For example, I could offer Movie Clubs screening Chinese movies and Culture Clubs sharing Chinese Calligraphy and Tea Ceremonies. I am particularly skilled at cooking traditional Chinese food, which could be integrated into the school's Mandarin days and Festival celebrations. I am interested in Chinese music, singing and drama. I believe that integrating singing and drama into the Mandarin department would be a motivating tool for developing oral skills in the target language.

I gained a highly acclaimed PGCE Secondary teacher training qualificaton specialising in Performing Arts (dance and drama) at Liverpool Hope University and professionally lectured HND Dance at Mid Cheshire college.

Teaching Experience:

Experience mainly tutoring younger children, but have done small ad-hoc pro bono tutoring sessions for older children. I specialise in both English and History tutoring, and I can tutor any book or any period for you child. Maths I will be willing to tutor up to GCSE at the most, given the board, and my music and sociology tutoring information can be provided at further request.

Tutoring Approach:

I specialise at being able to tutor online: I feel this means students can maintain studying in an environment they feel comfortable in. Another benefit is that I can document all tutoring sessions - part of me services mean that I will copy up transcripts of all the sessions for both you and your child - this means you do not need to worry about sessions being missed. To ensure you get the most out of my time, I offer my services in blocks of 5 or 10: this means that I can thoroughly cover subjects. For example, if you require emergency tutoring with a book, 5 sessions would enable me to efficiently cram topics, whilst 10 would enable me to go through this more thoroughly with you or your child. How I tailor your blocks of 5 or 10 can be discussed between both you, me, and your child. For documentation purposes, I believe typing during the online sessions can be maximally beneficial: both the child can see what i'm writing, whilst you as the parents can see exactly what is being discussed. However, if you would like me to use voice calling as well as video calling, this is no problem either.

Tutoring Approach:

For school level: I have a friendly and informal style, based on building up a good relationship with the pupil, as this is the real advantage of the one-on-one set-up. Classes are structured, but I adapt things based on the situation and diverge from the lesson plan if necessary. I also work extensively with past and mock papers because I think practice is the best way to learn. Finally when I take on a pupil I am committed - if the pupil has problems or needs help between lessons I'm happy to be contacted via email.

For university level: I take an ad hoc approach depending on the student - I also like to keep things fun and informal. Particularly in essay subjects, I emphasise the need for a clear argument and structure, attributes highly valued at UK universities.

My expertise has been developed through 18 years experience of teaching English, Media Communication, Drama and Study Skills to 11-19 year olds, and leading whole-school portfolios in teaching and learning, assessment, staff development and curriculum. Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is characterised by the following commitments I make to every learner I have the privilege of working with:

- I will place all learners firmly at the centre of the learning experience

The Study Skills coaching I offer can help resolve a wide range of common issues that can be barriers to effective learning.If you answer 'yes' to one or more of the following questions, study skills coaching could well be an investment that brings real value to your child and their future:

- Do behavioural issues exist in the school setting?
- Is your child frequently getting detentions for forgetting homework or being late?

- Would your child benefit from improved social skills?
- Does your child become anxious around examination periods?
- Does your child require increased focus and attention prior to key examinations, e.g. entrance examinations, Year 6 standardised attainment tests and GCSE exams?

Flexible, personalised programmes can commence at any point during the year.

The first session is essential for the success of the programme going forward. In this session, we evaluate current learning strengths and weaknesses in the individual student. In order to get a full picture of the student's learning priorities, we undertake the following activities to determine areas for improvement and the best conditions for success:

- reflections from the student on how they feel about their learning experience
- a learning survey - it's good fun and gives the child/student a really useful exercise in self-reflection
- analysis of recent written reports which contain teacher comments and grades recording attainment, effort, attitude to learning, punctuality, etc. School reports can vary in format so it may be that not all this detail is available
- we ask that a parent/teacher is involved for the duration of this first session to provide their own reflections on the learning profile of the child
- completion of a personalised learning contract whereby the child/student, parent/teacher and coach agree on the required conditions needed for the child/student to be successful during the programme.

I am a highly qualified professional tutor with 6 years tutoring experience at a range of levels, from ks2 to Master's, both in groups and one-on-one, and wide professional experience. My specialist areas are English Literature and Language, and History at A level. I also tutor Media Studies. I specialize in essay/dissertation writing and editing as well as exam technique.

My academic qualifications include an honours degree in History and Philosophy, and a Master's degree in Media Studies. As an EFL teacher I have CELTA (Certificate of English Language Teaching) and have taught in Spain. I also have a Higher National Diploma in Film and Television production and a Postgraduate Diploma in Russian Language. My recent MA research has been into influences of language in media on educational environments. I currently am pursuing a PhD in Education.

I hold an enhanced DBS certificate (issued July 2016).

I have 6 years tutoring experience at a range of levels, from ks2 to Master's, both in groups and one-on-one, and wide professional experience. I have taught in both English and Scottish education systems, and including the ebacc system, and coached for American style SATs.
