In particular I use strategies to increase my students' confidence and learning skills so they become independent learners using their problem solving skills under exam condition. I endeavour to encourage my students to try and achieve to the best of their ability. I have a valid and current CRB certificate obtained by my employer

Teaching Experience:

Over 20 years of teaching, lecturing, one to one tutoring and many happy and successful students. Even those who did not really like maths in class, often stop me in the street comment on how much they have benefited from their mathematical learning, use it in their part time job or it has lead to a good career, or they are just happy to be able to do a monthly budget.
One of the signs of a good tuition is the returning customer and i have had the joy of teaching siblings from the same family for several years.

'There are two good things in life' according to S Poisson: 'learning maths and teaching maths'. Of course a little extreme, but i would say that enabling someone else to develop mathematical thinking and problem solving skills, as well as using and applying this ability to solve equations and carry out complex calculations, for me are some of the most exciting aspects of maths tutoring. The approach i incorporate into all my teaching is to enthuse, motivate and empower my students, so they develop a deep understanding of mathematical processes and thereby learn the skills needed for each particular topic. I also incorporate puzzles and interactive resources into my lessons.

Recently graduated from the University of Oxford with First Class Honours in Economics and Management. I won a Scholarship to Eton College when I was ten years old and won another three years later. After getting straight A*'s at GSCE, I went on to study Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, Economics and Physics at AS level. Again, after attaining the highest grades at AS, I was advised to drop Chemistry and went on to complete my A levels (A*A*AA). Currently I am studying Economics and Management at Oxford University - final year.

Teaching Experience:

I have helped teach primary school children before at Eton Wick First School. Other experience I have includes a tutee I helped last year with AS level maths and writing AS maths notes for a firm so that they could make tutoring videos online.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to approach tutoring by adapting to the tutee's needs. I always ask what is needed to be covered for their understanding and so it would be up to any tutee to know what they struggle on. If they do not know, I like to test their knowledge of the syllabus and filling in any gaps. When I go through a topic, I do often go through it in detail so that the tutee can not only answer questions, but also understand what they are doing. (I find that the problem with Maths is that some students can get the answer, without understanding what they have done.)

Tutoring Approach:

As a maths tutor, I animate and energise every area of study, especially those areas that a student has previously considered dull and disinteresting. I always promote the most thorough understanding and spirit of inquiry, and through the unique interests of the individual, I build long-lasting connections with the most fascinating areas of each subject, forming a firm foundation to ensure that my students are able to excel well beyond my time with them.

My goal with tutoring is to catalyse independence, not dependence as most tutors do, by showing students their own potential. I know from experience that every individual has the potential to achieve great things, and I love to help my students to strengthen their sense of self worth, and travel on a trajectory towards leaving a positive mark on the world.

I'm a young, dynamic, relatable and enthusiastic tutor that loves to teach and gets a great sense of pride from my students success. I am intuitive, patient and affable with every student, regardless of background. I always endeavour to be the best tutor I can be and provide the best results for my students.

I ONLY TEACH 1.5 HOUR SESSIONS OR LONGER:
You may think this is too long for younger students, but 75% of my students are primary school students all enjoying 1.5 hour sessions because of the 15 minute fun time at the end (see below). Hour long lessons seem to end just as you are really getting into a topic and for that reason I only teach 1.5 hour sessions or longer. From my extensive experience it is clear that 1.5+ hour sessions are much more productive, comprehensive and effective at achieving results.

15 MINUTE FUN TIME AT THE END (FOR YOUNGER STUDENTS):
With all my younger students we have 15 minutes at the end for fun time where we do together whatever they want - like drawing or a game. At a young age tutoring is seen as boring and something really not looked forward to, but the 1.5 hour session with the 15 mins at the end completely changes that as they see it as I get to make a drawing with Daniel again today etc. If the session was an hour there would no time for games as you can't teach much in 45 mins. My references say I'm great with kids and prove how these 15 minutes make all the difference by making the lessons more fun, productive and effective at achieving results.

The relationship between the tutor and student strongly affects the effectiveness of tuition so I like to give a free introduction lesson to see if we 'click' and you like the way I teach. It's also a consultation where we discuss where your child is at and where they would like to be. The length of the free first session indicates the length of following regular paid lessons.
