Andreas Papapetrou was born in Nicosia, Cyprus in 1984. He began his music studies at an early age at the ARTE Music Academy (formerly Hellenic College of Music) from where he graduated in 2001 with a Degree in Piano with distinction. He continued his studies in Greece, at the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki, from where he got his Diploma in Piano with distinction in 2008, and at the Department of Music Studies of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, from where he graduated with a Degree in Composition with distinction in 2009. After this he moved to London where he studied composition at Trinity College of Music, acquiring his MMus in Composition with distinction in 2011. He is now a PhD candidate at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

He has studied composition with Michalis Lapidakis, Panayiotis Kokoras, Errolyn Wallen and Stephen Montague, piano with Elena Sophocleous, Emilia Tzima and Douglas Finch, accordion with Irinoula Constantinidou, and jazz song with with Yula Michail.

He has composed music for various ensembles, as well as works of electroacoustic and electronic music. His music has been performed in Cyprus, Greece, the United Kingdom and France. Works of his have been performed by the Trinity College of Music Student's Symphony Orchestra, the DissonArt Ensemble (Thessaloniki), the Contemporary Music Ensemble (Athens), the COMA Voices London choir, the TCM Harp Trio, the Solstice String Quartet, violinist Darragh Morgan a.o.

He is also an active music performer and focuses mainly on works of contemporary music and improvisation. He has performed debut performances of contemporary music works for piano or chamber music ensemble, in Thessaloniki and in London.

Besides music, his artistic interests include visual and performing arts. He collaborates with choreographers Stavri Kalopetridou and Elisabeth Schilling. He is a member of FIBRE Performing Arts Company, the contemporary music group Other People's Mail and the improvisation group 6daEXIt.

Teaching Experience:

I work as a freelance composer, performer and music teacher. As a music teacher I teach piano, accordion, music theory and
music composition, both for beginners and advanced students. I have been teaching music for the last 5 years. I have taught
people of all ages, from children to adults. I am currently a PhD candidate specialising in composition at Trinity College of Music.

I have taught piano at the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki, from 2006 to 2009, specialising on beginners and intermediate level students. I have been teaching piano, accordion, theory and composition privately since I came to London in 2009, to both children and adults.

In piano playing and teaching I specialise on classical music but I am also open to other styles, including popular music.
In accordion playing and teaching I specialise in classical music and Greek folk music.
In composition teaching, I prefer to let the student choose their preferred style. I do, however, specialise in contemporary classical music, ranging from acoustic to purely electronic music.

Tutoring Approach:

I feel that I have a good way to communicate with children and I am a very patient person. I am very receptive to my student's needs and I am willing to help and guide them into solving any problems related to music they might have. I always try to find the simplest way to communicate my ideas or what a music piece requires. After having completed a qualification in advanced Spanish in Salamanca in Spain, I returned to the UK to complete a degree in Psychology. Following university I went to drama school, and college to learn to teach English as a foreign language. I have taught Spanish and English privately since graduating, and love to see my students improving in their language. I am trained in phonetics, so can help improve in Spanish pronunciation, and with British English or American pronunciation. I am flexible and willing to travel to central and around London, or or have students at home in the Crystal Palace area.

Teaching Experience:

Before completing the CELTA course I taught Spanish privately and in groups at the university of Sheffield. While at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School I taught private Spanish, and also drama/speech preparation to those wishing to get into drama school, then of course during my CELTA course I was constantly teaching English to classes and privately. I have taught private lessons in Spanish and English since then, and am doing so currently. As you can imagine, from living in Spain, a degree in Psychology, a professional acting qualification and teacher training, I've been around the study of people and how they work for a while now. These experiences have made me an empathic, patient and responsive teacher. Learning styles are really important for a teacher and a learner - if we can figure those out, you can become amazing and proficient in whatever you want. Tutoring Approach:

I have a modern approach to language teaching and want to make it as fun and interesting as possible. The mixture between a Psychology degree, an acting degree, and a CELTA course mean my approach to teaching is empathic and eclectic. I may use traditional board methods, or role-playing techniques to make sure my students' learning styles are explored and made use of. I would be perfect for any native Spanish speaker as I can relate language points to make comprehension of English clear, and for any English speaker who wants to learn Spanish. As stated above, my knowledge of the International Phonetic Alphabet and its application makes me a good choice for anyone additionally wanting to improve their English, or Spanish pronunciation. I have lived in Spain, so I understand what it's like to live in a foreign country where you don't know the language. I have training in phonetics from both drama school and the CELTA course, so am a good choice for pronunciation practice in an addiction to language improvement.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching approach is to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere in which students feel more comfortable and confident to raise questions. I like to listen to my students being at their level to address and identify the basic difficulties that they face in understanding the subjects. I am happy to concentrate on the specific areas that the student struggles with. He love's to make the photos encapsulate you and who you want to be. Ben strives to capture the details and emotions that would go together to make your time with me an enjoyable experience.
Ben is a social person and loves to get to know the people he works for, so he can really reflect their character and what they want, so to produce the highest quality work for and give them exactly what they are after. Ben aims to spend time chatting with you in advance so that your time with me is so much more productive.
Ben grew up in West Africa where his parents worked amongst the poor coordinating small-scale development projects. This had a massive impact on his life and photographic practice affecting how he relates to the world around him. In his photographic work, he has taken a special interest in reflecting stories and voices through his images. For example, he travelled in Uganda and Thailand and used photography to be the 'voice' of the people he photographed.
Although Ben's formative years were spent in Africa he was educated in Guildford, Surrey at George Abbot School that specialised in the expressive arts. During these years, his creative flare became more apparent when he took A-levels in Fine Art, Sculpture, and Photography. He progressed onto doing a Foundation Degree in Action Photography at Truro College where he specialised in Sport, the Natural world and Social Documentary and began to prepare for a more commercial direction. Ben still maintained his roots in expressive art during the foundation degree but also developed his technical skills thoroughly. Ben had the opportunity to be the photographer for 24/7 magazines in July 2008 at the Newquay Ripcurl Surfing Festival.
In 2009, he progressed on to Plymouth University to study for his BA Hons in Photography where he achieved a 2.1 studying under Stephen Vaughan and Dr. Simon Standing. During this course, he spent time looking intricately into the how we view our bodies and others around us. He concluded the year specializing in fine art nudes and portraiture, with a project called 'The Paradox of Perfect Beauty'. This study challenges the ideologies of beauty in history, sculpture, and figurative representation and critically analyzes the standardized figures and body shape used in art as well as in modern day commercial advertising, fashion and other types of portraiture. In the final exhibition, Ben aimed to present a personal discovery of body image and consequent self-affirmation. Ben was fortunate to be able to exhibit some of his work at the D & A D-New Blood Exhibition in London in June 2010.
Many photographers say they are good but even the perfect image that ben has he can still see my own flaws in you get the highest quality with me and won't be disappointed. In this digital age, many people can snap you but ben can give you an artistic flair, which is also of superior quality. He is sure that you will want to share the photographs he produces. I also work in a apple shop in Guildford so can teach about apple products and how to use them both in conjunction with software like photoshop or one there own.

I have been tutoring photography from many years to all different ages and abilities from young kid's to University and Mature Learners, I started my teaching with teaching english in Thailand and working as a assistant youth worker and having to teach different subject and activities. I have furthered my experience with children running children Holiday camps over the school Holidays.

Personal Description:
Playing the Guitar, Mandolin, Ukulele, Banjo and Harmonica and creating traditional Fine Art have been and are a major part of my life. Much as I would have very much liked to do, I never had the opportunity to become a Professional Performing Musician or a fully Professional Fine Artist . I have performed in public of course, and held exhibitions, but very rarely on a professional/paid basis. I have been a guitarist for over 45 years and an artist for 23 years

I studied art at the Thanet Schools of Art & the Ravensbourne College of Art and Design (the same College David Bowie went to)
for two and a half years. After that I had a twenty two year absence from art.

A change came in 1992: It was during a period of Long Term Unemployment. Whilst signing on at my local Job Center, I volunteered to go on an "Employment Action Course. In a sense this was a form of working for your benefit and was paid an extra 10 per week on top of Job Seekers Allowance. Hopefully this would have lead to work prospects, ideally in Art or The Arts. I had to report to a work placement provider who asked me what skills I had, to which I said "Art" and was assigned to a local Community Arts Center based in Gillingham Kent and appointed as a publicity designer and resources worker.

Whilst in my publicity artist role I was introduced to the then K.C.C Arts Promotion Officer Jim Shean who took interest in my art work and arranged an exhibition hire space without charge at my local library, the event was covered on Radio Kent's "Scene & Heard" Program. I also contacted the local junior school where my children attended and made a proposition if I could exhibit there. In return the headmaster asked my to come into the School twice a week and teach the children art, this featured in a local press article.

Over the years from 1992 to date I have held numerous small one man exhibitions in the Medway Towns and a little further afield and have manged to sell some (just enough to pay a few bills). In the last year or so I have been a little inactive in my art but hope to resolve that soon.

Tutoring Approach:

Being a music teacher has at least allowed me to put my love of music to a measure of professional application, perhaps to make up for the lost opportunity and time. Being paid is a motivation, but far more importantly teaching others to play and create music is much more enjoyable, I have often gone overtime on my lessons and never charged extra. Also to be considered is the experience gained over many decades of musical struggling, mistakes, embarrassing moments during performance and how to overcome them that I can impart to my pupils. I also look forward to the pupil making sufficient progress so that I can have the pleasure to "Jam" with them.

I am a native Mandarin speaker. And I've member of broadcast station during senior school and worked in local Radio FM Station during summer vacation. My pronunciation is perfect, and help it would increase your interest in Chinese.

I am 29 years old. I graduated from UCL in 2012 with distinction in clinical science and clinical practice. Currently I am a radiology registrar working in Imperial College Hospital. I have also completed core surgical training and have completed MRCS and also have passed MRCP part 1 and 2.
In addition, I have a 1st class degree in Medical Sciences with Pharmacology for which I was also awarded the AJ Clark prize and placed on the Dean's list.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught medical students for many years and have a formal teaching qualification (I am a Royal College of Physicians Educator).
I have examined in medical student OSCEs at UCL and the RSM. In addition I have been a UCL transition mentor and Peer Tutor teaching all years from 1 to 5 as well as junior doctors.

Tutoring Approach:

Before the session feel free to provide me with the subjects you wish to cover and let me know of any particular points you are struggling with.
I am happy to go through both theory and history taking / examination.
