Personal Description:
I have a lifetime of experience in fine art (drawing and painting) as well as in graphic design and photography.
I now practice as a professional artist/painter. I use several mediums, pencil, conte, pastel, watercolour, acrylic and (mostly) oil.
I live in the Surrey Hills and am inspired by the landscape. However I am interested in picture making at all levels in any subject, believing that the subject is merely a reference point to an idea.
Art is largely subjective but is, like music, expressive of emotion, thought, ideas, and self.
I am an award winning artist having won the ArTTable Bronze Frame for my still life in 2015/

Teaching Experience:

Adult Education at Ruxley Lane Centre, Epsom and at Reigate School of Art, Redhill.
Secondary Education at Carshalton High school for Girls.
University/Further Ed. at Hull, Norwich, Epsom, Falmouth, East Surrey College, Norwich and Croydon Colleges of Art.
I tutor as workshops individually in my Buckland studio, or individual tuition at the subjects' homes.
I also visit and tutor in art groups and clubs by request.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in clear demonstration of artistic principles and techniques and by guided practice by students. I am against the traditional style of art tutoring that simply allows the student to work with sometime critical comment 'over the shoulder'.
Art can be taught to a good technical level in the same way as any subject. Whilst everyone has natural ability to a degree, the student can learn to observe and record by training the eye and right brain. Many have no confidence in their ability. My aim is to give knowledge that inspires confidence so that a student may understand image making and learn to develop their own style through understanding of the principles of drawing, composition and creative expression.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified, approachable and professional tutor with nine years teaching experience. I am friendly, reliable, patient and I believe in building a student's confidence to help them achieve their potential.

I graduated at the University of Liverpool and achieved a Masters Degree in Chemistry with Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. I then completed my teacher training at the University of Nottingham, before going on to work full time as a secondary school teacher.

Teaching Experience:

For the last nine years I have taught:

- Combined Science to Key Stage 3 (in a secondary school environment)
- Biology and Chemistry to GCSE and A Level (in a secondary school environment)
- A range of examination boards, including AQA, OCR, Edexcel and also the IGCSE qualification
- In both a comprehensive and an independent school
- One-to-one private tutoring sessions to students finding Biology, Chemistry and Science difficult
- One-to-one private tutoring sessions to students needing to achieve the highest grades in A Level Biology and Chemistry for entry into Medicine and Oxbridge

As well as teaching and private tutoring I also work as an Examiner so I have an additional insight into exam preparation.

My role as a teacher in an independent school also involves marking entry examinations, so I am able to prepare students for these exams.

During my industrial placement year at university I worked as a Research Scientist for GlaxoSmithKline, applying Biology and Chemistry to researching new pharmaceuticals. I frequently draw on this experience to stretch and challenge students needing to achieve the highest grades for University entry.

Tutoring Approach:

I thoroughly enjoy motivating my students and I have built a variety of teaching resources to help students of all abilities. My students tell me that I help them break down complex information into more manageable sections. As well as preparing students for examinations I try to inspire them to enjoy and apply their subjects beyond the focus of exams. I strongly believe that learning should be enjoyable and accessible to everyone.

I understand how daunting it can be for parents and students to begin tuition so I am more than happy for parents to stay during my lessons. I can provide references and testimonials from my previous students and the schools I have worked for, as well as an enhanced CRB check. I am happy to set homework, mark examination papers and give detailed feedback, as well as organise additional lessons during examination periods.

Personal Description:
Having always been passionate about languages, I have studied them keenly and learned how to break them down and make them accessible to anyone. I am also fascinated by art and history and therefore aim to incorporate notions of foreign culture in language teaching. At the same time, I am a trained actress, and am happy to tutor drama students or people preparing for drama school.

Teaching Experience:

I left uuniversity in 2011 and have been working as a private tutor ever since. I teach both casual learners and students, particularly GCSE and A-level French and German. I also teach English as a second language and drama/acting.

Tutoring Approach:

Although I learned all my foreign languages through a rigorous method very much based on writing and grammar, I am happy to adapt my method to the student's needs. Personally, I believe that conversation is the key to becoming fluent in a language, but at the same time I could never bear to neglect the importance of writing and reading comprehension.

I have lived in Peterhead my whole life, attending both Clerkhill Primary School and Peterhead Academy. I have then spent the following 5 years at the University of Aberdeen Studying a range of biology and chemistry courses. Teaching Experience:

During the final year of my undergraduate degree (2013-2014) I enrolled on the BP tutoring scheme which firstly entailed a short teacher training course before I was assigned a placement at Turriff Academy, Aberdeenshire. With the support of the classroom teacher, I was involved in the designing, delivery and evaluation of teaching materials for classes ranging from S1 to S6 in subjects such as general science, biology and chemistry. This experience greatly improved my communication skills as well as enhanced my ability to think on my feet as many of the classes I instructed were allocated to me at short notice with little time to prepare.
