Personal Description:
I have a PhD in laser beam shaping and a first class BSc in Physics. I am a published scientist and I have teaching experience ranging from lecturing at undergraduate level to tutoring A-level and GCSE students.

I am 34 years old, married with a three year old son. As well as tutoring I also work for a leading firm of UK and European patent attorneys in central London, helping people and companies to protect their ideas.

I am approachable, patient and friendly, and an ideal tutor for anyone needing extra help in Maths or Physics.

Whether you sitting your GSCEs or preparing for university exams, I can help you gain the knowledge, skills and confidence you need to gain your full potential.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching Maths and Physics in the UK since 2006.

I have experience in lecturing at first and second year undergraduate level, having taught the Fundamentals of Physics course to English speaking students at Northeastern University in China from 2012-2014.

From 2006 to 2012, I tutored an average of nine students per year, mainly for Maths GCSE and Physics A-levels across the OCR, EdExcel and AQA exam boards.

Tutoring Approach:

I have an enthusiastic approach to tutoring and always try to ensure a real sense of progress and satisfaction by the end of each lesson by working on high priority problem areas first. I pride myself on my ability to explain complex ideas in a simple and memorable way and I also teach exam and revision techniques that really do work.

I offer a friendly relaxed teaching environment tailored to the learning style of each person I teach. During lessons I draw up notes that the student can keep, I work through relevant exam questions, and I set homework within the limits agreed by the student and/ or the parent so that the student can build their confidence in the time between lessons.

Personal Description:
Originally from Newcastle, I am now an actor and enjoy tutoring alongside my acting work. I have worked in TV, and also in theatre, including venues such as The National Theatre and the West End. Especially with younger students, I like to keep my lessons creative and practical. I studied English and Drama at Bristol University and then went on to train at The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Recently, I have been tutoring in English, Drama, 11+ Common Entrance exams and general Primary school help.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring for over 6 years. Alongside my tutoring, I am currently teaching Music and Drama in schools and I run workshops with Sixth Formers on ways of analysing texts practically.

7+ - I worked with Elektra (6) preparing her for 7+ Examinations. Covering English, Maths and Reasoning focussed on entry to Notting Hill and Ealing High School.

7+ - Working with Harry on English, Maths and exam technique, focussing him for 7+ exam for Dulwich Prep School. Harry has traits of both dyslexia and dyspraxia.

7+ - I work with Jules on his English. Jules is French and has just started attending a French school, so we are working to keep his English up to scratch. Main areas of focus are: speaking, spelling, listening/understanding and grammar.

7+ - Working with Charlie mainly on English, increasing his confidence in all areas but focussing on Writing, Grammar and Punctuation, and Comprehension.

11+ - Working with Guy on English and Maths one day a week. Mainly focussed on Guy's writing and spelling. Guy is preparing for entry to Westminster and Eton Schools.

11+ - I worked with Ingrid on English and Maths in preparation for exams for Notting Hill and Ealing High School, Francis Holland and Godolphin and Latymer Schools. Ingrid went to her first choice of Notting Hill and Ealing High.

11+ - I worked with Olivia in preparation for her Common Entrance exams on all papers (English, Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning) as well as interview practice. Olivia is now attending North London Collegiate School (her first choice) but I also prepared her for entrance to Highgate School for Girls, City of London School for Girls and Queen's College.

Primary Help - I worked with brothers Teddy (7) and Alfie (10) mainly on English and Maths but also across all subjects generally to improve knowledge, confidence, spelling and vocabulary.

Primary Help - I worked with Rohan (10) on improving his confidence and basic skills in English and Maths. Rohan was very inquisitive and keen but needed help focussing and answering the specific questions that he was being asked.

A Level English Literature (AQA) - worked with Oliver (17) helping with coursework on The Great Gatsby and the poetry of Keats and Larkin. Oliver achieved an A grade.

AS Level Drama (AQA) - helped Yasmin to explore the analysis of texts of Lady Windermere's Fan and A View From The Bridge in preparation for exams, in which she achieved an A.

GCSE English Literature - tutored Amy in preparation for coursework and exams. Texts: Lord of The Flies and A View From The Bridge.

SKYPE - I teach Pietro (11) English as a Second Language weekly online.

Home Schooling - Inigo (6 when I started) had been getting reports of generally dropping behind in class work with a lack of concentration. I homeschooled him every Friday for two terms. He was having particular trouble in English and Maths. Inigo was struggling especially with English, in all areas, and was most behind with Spelling and Grammar. For him to engage, I had to be both creative (to keep him interested) but also quick as the plan was to get him into Kew Green Primary for the next academic year. We covered the basics of year 1 and ironed out any problems (also to give him confidence with the things he could do) and then went onto year 2. I would use a lot of what he was naturally interested in (football and particular comic book characters) in the teaching to keep his attention. With Maths, Inigo could do simple addition and subtraction but struggled when getting into 2 digits, multiplication, or any sort of wordy problem where the sum to be done was not absolutely clear. So, again, we covered the basics and then pushed on. He worked really hard and eventually we were looking forward to things he may encounter next year. At first Inigo was quite reluctant to work but I managed to win him over and build up a good rapport for productive days of homeschooling. Thankfully, he gained a place at Kew Green, and we were delighted! (Though it did mean, unfortunately, that he didn't need me any more...).

English for Foreign Learners - Helped 8 year old Augustinos (Greek) with reading and homework to improve English, as well as taking him on educational trips around London.

Drama (practical) - Coached Emily (21) and Hannah (20) with acting lessons in preparation for Drama School Entry auditions. Emily has now trained at The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and Hannah is training at LAMDA.

Voice and Elocution - Helped Law Student Amar (20) with speechmaking and projection for use in debating.

SEN - worked with Dean (20), a law student with dyslexia, upon exam preparation and practice.

Tutoring Approach:

I will tailor whatever I teach to my pupil's needs. I am very easy to get along with and very open to how you think you or your child will best learn. Above all I would want a pupil to look forward to my sessions with them so will make sure that they are practical, interesting and varied. Especially with the younger students I teach I think that lessons need to be fun to keep them excited about learning! If you have any questions at all or specific enquiries, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Personal Description:
I am an honest and reliable person who works hard. I enjoy travelling, skiing and cycling. I really love my work and have decided to become a self employed tutor. I am currently living in Lowestoft, but am willing to travel as far as Norwich for employment.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching English as a Foreign Language since 1994 and have worked in Malaysia as well as the UK. I spent eight years in Malaysia working in private language schools. In addition, I spent two years teaching English to GCSE level at a boarding school.

More recently, I have worked in prisons teaching English to both foreign nationals and local prisoners. I have also taught ESOL at local colleges. I have had some experience of working with small groups of children. My specialist subject areas are English as a Foreign Language, English grammar and pronunciation.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that each student has different goals and needs. Therefore, I adopt a flexible approach to learning depending on what the student hopes to achieve. I believe that grammar is important and find that many students request help in this area. I also believe that reading is very important and have developed suitable resources for use with both adults and younger learners. I also work a lot on pronunciation and conversation skills. Generally, a course will include practise of all five skills with more emphasis on certain areas according to the individual needs of students.

Personal Description:
Ben is a technically and artistically accomplished in portraiture photography and been quoted by professors at a university as a master in the studio. He love's to make the photos encapsulate you and who you want to be. Ben strives to capture the details and emotions that would go together to make your time with me an enjoyable experience.
Ben is a social person and loves to get to know the people he works for, so he can really reflect their character and what they want, so to produce the highest quality work for and give them exactly what they are after. Ben aims to spend time chatting with you in advance so that your time with me is so much more productive.
Ben grew up in West Africa where his parents worked amongst the poor coordinating small-scale development projects. This had a massive impact on his life and photographic practice affecting how he relates to the world around him. In his photographic work, he has taken a special interest in reflecting stories and voices through his images. For example, he travelled in Uganda and Thailand and used photography to be the 'voice' of the people he photographed.
Although Ben's formative years were spent in Africa he was educated in Guildford, Surrey at George Abbot School that specialised in the expressive arts. During these years, his creative flare became more apparent when he took A-levels in Fine Art, Sculpture, and Photography. He progressed onto doing a Foundation Degree in Action Photography at Truro College where he specialised in Sport, the Natural world and Social Documentary and began to prepare for a more commercial direction. Ben still maintained his roots in expressive art during the foundation degree but also developed his technical skills thoroughly. Ben had the opportunity to be the photographer for 24/7 magazines in July 2008 at the Newquay Ripcurl Surfing Festival.
In 2009, he progressed on to Plymouth University to study for his BA Hons in Photography where he achieved a 2.1 studying under Stephen Vaughan and Dr. Simon Standing. During this course, he spent time looking intricately into the how we view our bodies and others around us. He concluded the year specializing in fine art nudes and portraiture, with a project called 'The Paradox of Perfect Beauty'. This study challenges the ideologies of beauty in history, sculpture, and figurative representation and critically analyzes the standardized figures and body shape used in art as well as in modern day commercial advertising, fashion and other types of portraiture. In the final exhibition, Ben aimed to present a personal discovery of body image and consequent self-affirmation. Ben was fortunate to be able to exhibit some of his work at the D & A D-New Blood Exhibition in London in June 2010.
Many photographers say they are good but even the perfect image that ben has he can still see my own flaws in you get the highest quality with me and won't be disappointed. In this digital age, many people can snap you but ben can give you an artistic flair, which is also of superior quality. He is sure that you will want to share the photographs he produces. Don't hesitate to contact me to discover more.

I also work in a apple shop in Guildford so can teach about apple products and how to use them both in conjunction with software like photoshop or one there own.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring photography from many years to all different ages and abilities from young kid's to University and Mature Learners, I started my teaching with teaching english in Thailand and working as a assistant youth worker and having to teach different subject and activities. I have furthered my experience with children running children Holiday camps over the school Holidays.

Tutoring Approach:

i have a relaxed approach to teaching trying to have an objective view to someone work but giving prods and direction where needed i lile for my students to discover the answer themselves and the satisfaction you see from them when this happens is the best part of the job every achievement is given praise and every downfall is looked at as not a failure but a part of the learning curve.

Teaching Experience:

Private Tutor at Bonas Macfarlane, London, July 2010 - Present
I tutor a variety of subjects at different levels from primary schools to A-levels. I teach Maths, Physics, Chemistry, German and Chinese. I also offer service on giving academic advice as well as interview techniques for entering into top schools and universities in the UK.

Private Tutor at Bright Young Things, London, September 2012 - Present
Bright Young Things is the second largest tutoring agency after Bonas Macfarlane whom I also work for. With Bright Young Things my focus had been Maths at A-level and GCSE.

University Marker, Department of Mathematics, Durham University, October 2009 - May 2010
I mentored second year Maths undergraduates at Durham University. I have learned to work through the arguments and thought processes of others and give constructive feedback.

Sixth Form Tutor, Framwellgate Sixth Form College, Durham, October 2006 - June 2009
I tutored Maths (GCSE, A-Level), Chemistry (GCSE, A-level), German (GCSE, A-Level) and Chinese (GCSE, A-Level) at Durham Framwellgate Sixth Form College for three years. I helped all of my tutees achieve more than what they were initially targeting to achieve. I also learned to prepare teaching materials and adopt various teaching methods.

Teaching Assistant, Student Associate Scheme, Middlesbrough, June to July 2008
Co-operated between the Training and Developing Agency (TDA) and the target schools in the Northeast, I worked alongside experienced teachers to gain classroom teaching experience.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is simple and effective. The general framework is as follows.

As for Maths and science related subjects, at the outset I will go through general concepts that are fundamental to student's understanding on the subject through the use of simple examples. I will then reinforce the message and encourage students through taking the initiative on specific and more challenging problems. Confidence is key and it is vital that my tutees are motivated and encouraged to constantly self-develop both at an academic and personal level.

As for German and Chinese, I strive to make the lesson as interactive as I can. I am experienced in teaching beginners as well as students that have learnt the language for a number of years.

I understand the different learning needs of different students. I will always be flexible and will do my best to help you succeed.

Personal Description:
I am a 28-year-old experienced tutor and medical student. Prior to coming to university, I worked in children's social care. I have vast experience in working with children and young adults - particularly reluctant learners!

I am also a mother and work part-time for a publishing company.

My main subjects are English Literature and Biology.
As a medical student, I have a broad knowledge of multiple areas of the curriculum. If you are interested in other subjects, please contact me and I will review the syllabus to see if I am able to support you.

Additionally, I am able to support students with the writing of essays and coursework. I can also assist with writing UCAS applications, CVs and job applications.

Teaching Experience:

I have been offering private tuition for over a decade.

Tutoring Approach:

All students are welcome to a free initial consultation. During this session I will spend time getting to know the student and understand their goals.

As a parent myself, I deeply value children's learning. I will not take on students if I do not feel able to considerably raise their attainment level. I meticulously prepare lesson plans and thoroughly enjoy supporting young learners to excel in their studies.

I provide reports at the end of every eight lessons, which clearly detail what has been achieved in tuition and what requires further focus.

I am looking to tutor in my spare time, not only to earn some extra money for my husband and I, but also as I have a passion for teaching and it is a career I always considered myself following. I have a degree in English Literature and Creative writing from Kingston University London, graduating in 2013 with a 2:1 BAHons. I have always had a passion for English, particularly poetry, writing regularly in my free time. I have wanted to become a teacher from a very young age however, due to financial needs, was unable to undertake a PGCE course immediately after finishing my undergraduate degree.
As I work for the Police I have been fully background checked and passed the DBS checks which were conducted between January and April 2016.

Teaching Experience:

I have completed two weeks work experience in a primary school in North Wales where I helped with the reception and year one classes. I was tasked with helping the children with all their work, from spelling and maths, to reading and writing. I would be willing, as a tutor, to help primary school age children with all subjects; from 11+ I would be more suited to English Literature or English Language however I am willing to discuss the child's needs and am happy to help with pre-GCSE maths, science or history also. I regularly check Undergraduate level essays for grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors for my two sisters in law, one of whom is studying War Studies and the other Primary Teaching. When in my late teens I would read with a young boy every week to help him improve.

Tutoring Approach:

Though I have never been employed as a tutor previously, I do have experience working with children and young adults, as well as a keen eye for detail. I am extremely patient and willing to persevere to find the learning method which works best for the child or young adult; I have experience in this with my youngest sister in law, who is just 16, whom I have been helping with her GCSE chemistry; chemistry is certainly not my subject, however I took time to read through her text books and her work, to ensure I knew exactly what she needed to do, before helping her to find a way to understand herself. I appreciate that not all subjects come easily to every individual and that, though I may have a passionate love of English, not everyone will share that and so, when tutoring anyone I should not be telling them that English is great - that is just my opinion; instead, I should be helping them to access it, to understand it better, and making it a little easier for them in the process. If, on top of that, they come to love the subject also, that is great; if not, that is fine too.
I would always propose that I meet once with the parents, and child or young adult, free of charge, to discuss the exact requirements: That way I can come to the first tutoring session knowing what needs improving, where my help is most needed and, also, how I think the tutee needs to taught - do they find the subject boring? In which case I need to show them ways in which it can become more interesting, even fun. Do they find the subject really difficult? In which case we need to find ways to make it more accessible and less daunting. I also can leave the fist session knowing exactly how the parents or guardians want me to tutor their child - do you want me to set my own tasks and homework for the tutee to help improve the weaker aspects of their work? Do you want me to help them with work they are being set in school, perhaps a specific text? All of this will help ensure that both the tutee and I get the most out of the time we spend together.

Personal Description:
Hi,

I am Amine, a third year student at the university of Sheffield. I study civil and structural engineering and I am an international student, from Morocco. I started studying in a French school from the 6th grade. In the future, I would like to be a professor at a university. This Job is an opportunity for me to gain experience in the field that interests me the most. I am sure that it could be a rewarding experience for me and for the students too, because I can guarantee you that I will do my best to help you.

Teaching Experience:

I used to teach my little sister and my cousins when they had some difficulties. However, I have never done it in a professional way. The last year I did not have a lot of free time, so I taught just one student french, and he was realy happy with the courses I gave him.

Tutoring Approach:

I would like to help the students with their homeworks and to prepare them to exams. Or in general if the student would just like to learn a new langage, it is fine.

Personal Description:
Thanks for viewing my profile. I'm Jade, a native speaker of Mandarin Chinese. I have language and teaching qualifications from China and the UK; and have more than 12 years experience of language teaching in both countries. I can provide patient tuition for learners of all age groups, from complete beginners, to experienced Mandarin speakers.

I love teaching, and use a range of learning materials, and approaches. I should be able to develop solutions to problems and find the way that works best for you.

Teaching Experience:

I have provided tuition in Mandarin Chinese to many native English speakers since I moved to the UK in 2014. My learners have been mostly adults and from various backgrounds, but also children and teenagers. They have included those learning for professional or academic reasons, and those simply interested in Chinese language and culture. Several have been having regular weekly or twice-weekly lessons with me for more than a year.
I have gained experience of the British educational system and teaching methods through acting as a volunteer teaching assistant in a college with modern language expertise. I have also studied for an Education and Training Award. Insights gained from this inform the approaches to teaching that I adopt.
In China, I worked at two language training schools in Harbin over a three-year period, and then I moved to Beijing. Here I taught children and teenagers for a year, and then for the next five years worked in a company that provided language training and IESOL tests to adults. I am now able to draw from my teaching experience in both countries when providing tuition in Mandarin.

Tutoring Approach:

I tailor my teaching to satisfy the individual needs of learners. This involves taking account of their reasons for learning Mandarin and their aspirations, and the learning styles that work best for them. Rather than stick rigidly to a standard course, I will vary the approaches to maintain interest and help with the learning process. Techniques can include question and answer sessions, use of flashcards, role-play, games, presentations, audio-visual materials and handouts.
If you are interested in learning Chinese, please contact me.
