Personal Description:
I am a very well-qualified, experienced, friendly and successful teacher of English as a Foreign Language, and I teach individuals or small groups of students in my home. I have always loved learning languages and am very much a 'people person', which is why I decided to become an English teacher after leaving university. Even now, after over 20 years' experience, I am delighted that I am still learning new things about English language and teaching.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience has mostly been of adults and young adults (16 - 55) in small groups or one to one classes. For many years I taught English as a Foreign Language at Bell International London, and before that for the British Council in Italy (Milan and Rome) and Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur). I have also taught on pre-sessional and in-sessional courses at Queen Mary, University of London. My students have been at all levels and from a wide variety of cultures.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is very student-centred. We first discuss which language aspects my students want to improve and their previous language learning experience. We then agree on a programme, and regularly review it. Each lesson builds on the previous one and the materials and teaching approach are tailored to each individual's needs, interests and learning style.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified CELTA (Pass B) teacher living in Malmesbury with my partner and children. I offer private English Language classes - both one-on-one and small groups - from my home. My house is near the town centre and I own and run a holiday home next door where students can stay overnight or for weekends/full weeks during their language course if they wish.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught Pre-Entry, Entry 1 and Entry 2 level classes as MTC in Swindon and I currently teach at Wiltshire College in Chippenham. My background is in business and my business knowledge has equipped me well to help businessmen and women to learn the functional language required to communicate across the world.

Tutoring Approach:

I am an informal and relaxed teacher, committed to meeting the specific needs of each of my students. I will carefully assess each student before deciding on a course that would be most suited to the individual. I can take lessons during the day (week days 9.30 to 2.30) or some evenings by arrangement.

Personal Description:
A final year MEng Automotive Engineering student at the University of Bath. Friendly and relaxed, looking forward to helping others learn and achieve their goals!

Teaching Experience:

I have no teaching experience yet but have three younger siblings and so have been called upon to help with informal tutoring in the past.

Tutoring Approach:

I will start by asking the student (or parents) to identify the areas in which help is required to make sure your requirements and my abilities match. I will then help the student to complete exercises by his or herself and be available if conceptual help is required. In this way, the student will have the necessary support to be able to work his or her way through a subject and build a good understanding of it.

Personal Description:
I am a 32 year old female. I have worked with children for a number of years now in the mainstream high school setting. I'm always studying myself, I have completed a basic counselling skills course and art-it's place in therapy course.

I'm currently working within a mainstream high school as a communication support worker, for students on the autism spectrum. I am enthusiastic and passionate about education. I want to support my students to achieve their full potential.

I am available during school holidays for tutoring during the day, or evenings and weekends.

Teaching Experience:

I started working with inclusion doing art projects with students who have behaviour difficulties; then went on to be a teaching assistant supporting all academic areas on the curriculum with children aged 10-17. I can differentiate work down to very low levels and am aware of the current curriculum. I have worked with students of many abilities and was a key worker for a child who's Downs Syndrome.
I still work in mainstream but I'm now a specialist in autism, working with children on the autistic spectrum daily. I am aware of the challenges my students face with accessing work on the curriculum as well as the social side of things.

I have also supported my school by covering art lessons and helping students with coursework and homework.

I offer tutoring in the following areas:
-Reading & Writing Skills: reading feedback and writing for coursework (essay, report, article for publication, research)

-Study skills: how to read critically and how to write, making presentations, etc.

-Art: Acrylic painting, Drawings and Rendering, Making Physical and 3D Models and crafts, Sketch book, Design Portfolio ( to help developing your portfolio for college or university interviews)

-Special needs: Differentiation for any subject up to GCSE/A'level and within the arts at university level working with students on homework, coursework and presentations who have learning difficulties.

Tutoring Approach:

I always wanted to be an art teacher, that's why I went to university, but over the years working in a school I realised what I could achieve by remaining at the support level. I can give more of my time to small groups and 1:1, a lot more than a teacher can as I don't have all the paperwork and other commitments to many students that they have.

My aim as a tutor is to make art accessible and give my students confidence. Over the years I've seen lots of students feel like their work isn't good enough; I can support them by teaching the basic skills and building on their existing knowledge.

I am a very patient & positive tutor who can explain concepts in a way which can be understood by my students.

I am sure that it could be a rewarding experience for me and for the students too, because I can guarantee you that I will do my best to help you.

Teaching Experience:

I used to teach my little sister and my cousins when they had some difficulties. However, I have never done it in a professional way. The last year I did not have a lot of free time, so I taught just one student french, and he was realy happy with the courses I gave him.

Tutoring Approach:

Personal Description:
I'm a Brazilian freelance photographer and film-maker based in London. Specialized in making ethnographic videos and documentaries, I also film and photograph live events, including talks, workshops and performances. I have worked in the UK and internationally creating content for research agencies, charities, schools, universities, individuals and businesses.

I hold an MA in Visual Anthropology from Goldsmiths, University of London. I also have ten years professional experience as an image-maker, stretching back to my time as a photojournalist for Jornal do Commércio, a regional newspaper in my hometown of Recife. My academic training and extensive practical experience allow me to work with understanding and sensitivity whilst representing people's habits, cultures and environments. I am attuned to capturing the details of people's everyday lives and the ways they communicate, eat, dance, work, pray, interact and shape their homes.

My approach to photography and film-making relies on building an empathetic, personal and respectful relationship with people, applying methods of anthropology, and documentary, alongside poetic imagery and engaging storytelling.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience of tutoring and classroom assistance, and working with children, young people and adults in the UK and Brazil.

My previous experience includes:

Teaching Assistant: Video production for Anthropologists (May 2017)
Spectacle - London, UK.
- Assisting teachers and students on training Course.
- Helping students utilizing video cameras and sound equipment.
- Assisting students using video editing software.
- Assisting students doing practical video exercise in location.

- Responsible for adapting existing material or designing new material to suit individual learning needs.
- Planning and running photographic workshops and day trips for students.
- Marking and providing formative feedback on work.

Teaching and Laboratory Assistant: Photography (Sept 2010 - Sept 2011)
Universidade Católica de Pernambuco - Recife, Brazil.

- Technical, teaching and laboratory assistant for undergraduate courses in Photography and Photojournalism.
- Introducing photographic and darkroom techniques to students.
- Classroom and teaching assistance.
- Responsibility for maintenance and organization of photographic studios and darkroom.

Tutoring Approach:

When tutoring I like to combine theory and hands on practice encouraging people to become independent learners, creative and critical thinkers. I have an empathetic, relaxed and joyful approach to tutoring and like to develop a good relationship with people to ensure that they feel comfortable to learn and to feedback on lessons. I like to work in collaboration with people to tailor lessons according to their needs, interests and levels.

With years of experience practising image making and studding the subject, I believe that theory and practice go hand in hand. With photography and film I think it's important to develop our 'ways of seeing' both by looking at things that have been made and by studding the thinking and mechanics behind these medias. It is also important to reflect on our own practice to develop our abilities and discover our potential.

A hand on experience is key when learning how to photograph and film. It is by practising that we familiarize ourselves and learn how to handle confidently our instrument of work. It's also by practising that we expose ourselves and learn how to deal with the unforeseen events that confront us when we are photographing and filming - be it the instability of light, decisions regarding compositions, interaction with a diversity of people, a great range of emotions that are presented to us while we hold the camera, etc.
