Personal Description:
I am a friendly and patient person who loves teaching. I have a background in music and theatre, having a degree and extensive professional experience in both, and have worked at venues including Shakespeare's Globe and The Sage, Gateshead.

As a supply teaching assistant in primary schools I would be a competent tutor for younger children, giving additional help with reading/writing/maths and other subjects.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a supply teaching assistant for over a year and a half and have often visited up to three different schools a week. This means I am very experienced in meeting and working with new children. In schools I do anything from reading The Gruffalo to teaching maths and am sometimes put in sole charge of classrooms. I regularly work one to one with children with learning difficulties. In addition to this, I have led multiple primary school drama workshops on everything from little red riding-hood to The Odyssey.

Along side this, I tutored a 5 year old boy for about a year and then started tutoring his younger brother in basic numeracy and literacy. I am also tutoring a year 5 girl in maths and have tutored a 7 year old boy in drama. References from parents would be available.

Having read music to degree level (2.1 from Durham University) I am in a position to tutor students in music theory and analysis at all levels and can teach very basic piano.

Additionally, my career and training as a theatre director allows me to tutor in drama at all levels, from building confidence with Lamda exams to preparing for drama school. As a director i audition on a regular basis so can coach audition technique for drama schools from the angle of the panel. Being widely read i can also advise on audition speeches.

I offer lessons in acting, covering different skills and methods according to the needs of each individual.

Tutoring Approach:

Often working one to one with students in primary schools, I am able to tutor children who need a little extra help in understanding their subjects. I am always very patient, enthusiastic and positive as I find children respond best to this, it helps the child to trust me and then together we can made strides with learning, be it reading, maths, or anything else in the curriculum.

Whether you need help with Bach Chorales, grade V theory or an essay on Beethoven I can help with every level of music. Having achieved a high level in all these areas I can coach university and school level, or adults looking to progress their musical skills.

As a director i audition on a regular basis so can coach audition technique for drama schools from the angle of the panel. Being widely read i can also advise on audition speeches. I also offer lessons in acting, covering different skills and methods according to the needs of each individual.

My approach to tutoring is simple; I believe results come from encouragement and patience. I think that everyone responds far better to a smile and constructive help than from anything else. I want my tutees to grow in confidence as well as in ability and feel i am the tutor to help.

I have experience in tutoring for the lower years with various GCSE subjects when I was in sixth form. I have also tutored siblings and friends with A-level maths, physics and chemistry.

Personal Description:
I am a lighthearted, focused and friendly actress, with a passion for new people and experiences. I have trained for a year at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic arts (LAMDA), where i was exposed to a great deal of new experiences, and was challenged daily. I believe that nothing is ever hard, but just a challenge to overcome and grow as a individual from. I have also trained at the National Youth Theatre, and have a BTEC in performing arts.

I have worked in a wide variety of jobs, and have consequently gained a large number of transferable skills, such as the ability to gain and maintain a rapport with clients/people/customers.I am very interested in what an Individual has to offer, and love seeing people find their true talent

Recently I have performed at The Soho Theatre, The Bush Theatre and have been involved with the national youth theatre.

Teaching Experience:

Although this is my first step into private tuition I have experience assisting drama workshops in schools, and have sat on the audition panel of the National youth Theatre.

Tutoring Approach:

Having received Private Drama tuition myself many years ago i am very aware of how important it is to be comfortable with your tutor. I therefore aim to create an extremely relaxed and open atmosphere in order for the tutee to reach their full potential.

I believe that drama classes can be used for anything from gaining confidence, to helping with speeches, but most of all i think they can help you learn much more about yourself and the people around you.

I aim to help clarify speeches, encourage students to reach their full potential, engage in a two way discussion about the piece they are studying and in doing so help them discover exactly what their objective is. This should all be fun and open.

Every student is different, and it is my responsibility to adapt and be aware of this.

Personal Description:
I am a certified teacher of Spanish as a Foreign Language. In May 2012 I finished the Master de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria y Bachillerato, FP y Enseñanza de Idiomas in Spain, a program similar to a PGCE. I am also working on the dissertation on another master program that will qualify me as a teacher of Spanish as a Foreign Language. I enjoy Qualified Teaching Status since November 2012 and I am familiar with the English curriculum and the programme of study for KS3-4 in all aspects related to teaching Spanish as a MFL. I have taught Spanish to people of all ages and nationalities and also have classroom experience as a Chemistry Teacher (ages 15-16 and 17-18).

Teaching Experience:

I am an experienced professional with a strong academic background and I am confident that I can be a valuable asset to your school. To be part of your teaching team will be a fantastic opportunity for me because it will also give me the opportunity to embrace the British culture again.

I have worked very hard to become a good teacher. My grades have been outstanding and I am receiving very good feedback from my instructors. I have carried out the practical phase of the teaching programme (Master in Secondary Education) in the same high school that I attended many years ago. In this school I have been responsible for teaching Chemistry and Physics to over 60 students and I also implemented a social learning environment to support their learning which has received very good feedback from my students and the lead teacher. I have accrued more than 800 teaching hours to date. I have the skills required for a classroom teacher and also the specialised skills required for teaching a second language.

Tutoring Approach:

From my own experience, I believe that learning a new language is similar to opening a door into a world full of possibilities: traveling, getting a new job, meeting new people and, in general, becoming a stronger individual both personally and professionally. In my classes, I like to tap into that part of each of my students that is exited about learning a new language, because that motivation will lead them to succeed in my class.

As a language teacher I firmly believe that in order for the students to succeed, two things must be present in the classroom environment: trust and respect. I have a lot of experience as a language student, Spanish is my native tongue and I have learned English, German and a bit of French and I have struggled with that first phrase I wanted to say out loud thinking that I was going to make a mistake or that it was going to sound funny. I understand that not everyone learns a language at the same rate and speaking in a foreign language takes courage and self-confidence. Courage and self-confidence are supported by an environment of trust and respect. In my classroom there are always ground rules: we are all here to learn, we learn from each other and we must respect each other.

The other very important aspect for me is making sure that the level of proficiency is correctly assessed. If the classes are too challenging or too basic, a negative environment not conducive to learning is created. Even if proper evaluation is made before the groups are formed, there will always be differences inside the classroom. I, as a teacher, try to be as aware as possible of this factor and strive to use that for the good of the group. Pairing a strong student with someone not as strong usually helps. Another important issue that I try to be as aware as possible is preventing the strong students from taking over the exercises and leaving behind other students that, because of either lack of confidence or not being at the same level, stop themselves from actively participating in class. In my classes, I make sure that everyone is heard and that I can evaluate progress of all my students.

Personal Description:
My name is Joe, and I am currently in my fourth year at Warwick University studying Physics. I have a passion for mathematics and the sciences, and I have a strong academic track record to back it up.
I gained my GCSEs at Woking High School, where I acheived 9A*s, 3As, and 1B. I then went on to complete my A-levels at Godalming College, where I achieved 97% in my Mathematics A-level, and well over 80% in Further Maths, Physics, and Chemistry.
I hope one day to go into a career in research.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience teaching at a variety of different levels:
- Friends and family have asked me to help them understand more difficult concepts in the past. This has ranged from GSCE to Undergraduate level.
- At Woking High, I gained a "Service to the Community" award for volunteering at Toe-by-Toe Reading helping children with under-developed reading abilities improve their literacy.
- In 2008 I spent the summer helping at Kingfield Infant School in Old Woking. This gave me experience working with KS1 and KS2 children.

Tutoring Approach:

I am patient and encouraging, and am keen to see pupils understand any concepts or problems they currently struggle with. I realise that different people learn in different ways, and would tailor tutorials to meet this requirement.
I have been told that I am very good at breaking down problems and explaining concepts simply.

Personal Description:
I have recently semi-retired back to Oxford after two careers: the first in journalism and the second as a teacher and minor academic, having spent the past four years lecturing in English literature at university level. I am, however, a traditionally trained teacher, having qualified at the University of Oxford 20 years ago with the full secondary PGCE in English, with history as my second subject. I can teach all aspects of English and all periods of literature from GCSE level upwards, but undergraduate students may want to know that my academic specialism is in 19th century literature, and my doctoral research was on Dickens. Alongside my tutoring work, I continue to do examining, coursework moderation and consultancy work for the leading exam board in the subject.

Teaching Experience:

I have 20 years' experience, mainly teaching all three varieties of A level English to the specifications of three different awarding bodies, at various colleges of further education. I also have considerable experience of GCSE English (mainly post-16 retakes, also in the FE context) and have taught within a local authority adult education service, as well as at university. I also have several years' prior experience of seeing one-to-one students privately. I have been an examiner for A level English literature since 2000, a coursework moderator for the same since 2009, and am currently a senior examiner for A level English language and literature.

Tutoring Approach:

As a tutor I think I am friendly and approachable, adopting an informal style of session, though I do insist on academic rigour where it is called for, and I have the expertise to back it up. I believe in a collaborative approach, with the full and ongoing involvement of parents, particularly of younger students, and would also expect to liaise by e-mail with the student's English teacher at school. I see the tutor's role as supporting mainstream education, not as something separate from it. I am aways well prepared, and wil go the extra mile by researching material which students have to cover, as well as reading and where appropriate marking students' work, in my own time.

Personal Description:
My name is Alberto and I am Spanish. I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts in 2008, and a Masters Degree in Secondary Teaching in 2010. As I also love languages, I decided to become a language teacher as a good way of connecting both subjects. I achieved the Spanish Teacher title in 2012 and I haven't stopped working since then.

Currently I'm running Spanish lessons at Hamilton House, Bristol.

Teaching Experience:

-Apr 2014 - Present - Teacher of Spanish. BLS Languages - Bristol / England

-Mar 2014 - Present - Tutor for In-Company Language Training. Mapfre Asistencia - Bristol / England

-Jan 2014 - Present -Teacher of Spanish Private Lessons - Bristol / England

-Jan 2014 - Present - Teacher of Spanish. Hamilton House - Bristol / England

-Oct 2013 - Teacher of Spanish. Kedaro International - Huelva / Spain

-Sep 2013- Teacher of Spanish. CLIC International House - Seville / Spain

-Feb 2013 - Jul 2013 -Teacher of Spanish Private Lessons for Foreigners - Huelva / Spain

Tutoring Approach:

I am in favour of Constructionist Learning, inspired by the constructivist theory that individual learners construct mental models to understand the world around them. However, constructionism holds that learning can happen most effectively when people are also active in making tangible objects in the real world.

So I encourage students by exposing them to multiple problems so they will be able to construct their understanding of the subject through these problems.

Personal Description:
I am a successful local tutor and teacher with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Secondary - English) from Oxford Brookes University. I am passionate about my subject and enthusiastic about improving both my pedagogical and subject knowledge. With A Level clients, I often re-read the key exam texts and exam specifications in order to deliver a successful tutorial. For GCSE, I am confident with multiple exam boards but, again, I take a sincere interest in changes to qualifications and specifications. I have recently led a team of ten teachers in our delivery of the GCSE English qualification through WJEC. Part of my role included observing good teaching practice and documenting this for staff appraisals.

I have six years experience of working in the state secondary sector as a Qualified English Teacher; teaching anything from Key Stage 3 (11 years - 14 years) up to Key Stage 5 (A Level) including GCSE. I currently teach GCSE and iGCSE English at a popular FE college for adults, returning to education, and for full-time learners aged 16+. In addition, I have previously worked as a Learning Support Assistant, at a Catholic primary school in Reading. I have also taught American children how to use movie editing packages, such as iMovie, in Maine, USA.

Tutoring Approach:

The rapport with the parent is as just as important as the tutee. In order to make a success of the tuition, it's paramount to have a good professional relationship with both. I use feedback from the tutee's parent (via a school report) and informal feedback from the tutee to create an Individual Tuition Plan which includes setting three clear targets. Depending on the key stage and ability of the tutee, this can range anything from parenthetic comma use to translating Chaucerian poetry!
