Personal Description:
I am a Spanish, French and English (as a foreign language) teacher, and have a 2:1 degree in Spanish language and literature, French and Italian language. Due to my Hispanic origins, I am fluent in Spanish as well as French, and teach these regularly around London. I additionally teach English as a Foreign language. As I learnt languages at British schools, I particularly understand the difficulties in coming to grips with languages in the classroom, and can help anyone to overcome these difficulties with private tuition one on one or in small groups.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught children and teenagers languages for about 10 years. Over the past few years I have taught English as a Foreign Language to various people in Madrid and London in small classes as well as one-on-one tuition. I also tutor KS2/3, GCSE and Adult learners in French and Spanish in London on a regular basis.

Tutoring Approach:

As a tutor, I think it is imperative to find each student's learning approach and adapt the teaching to them. However, I particularly enjoy a practical approach to learning languages as I believe it makes it easier to grasp. I think it is very important to be able to catch the meaning of conversation and text in a general sense as well as the more classic approach to grammar, in order to improve means of communication and possibility of practising the language in a fun way outside of lessons.

Personal Description:
Hi everyone. I am 32 years old and currently a student of the Open University. I am reading for a BA Honours in French and Spanish from the Open University. I am in my third and final year for my Spanish component..

I was born and raised in Guyana, South America and migrated to the UK permanently over six years ago.

I have been learning Spanish since I was 11 years old. At 11, during my first ever spanish class, I fell so deeply in love with the language that I vowed to be as fluent as I can one day. I continued learning spanish and in 1998 at the age of 17, I wrote my Caribbean Exams (CXC) and was awarded a distinction in Spanish. I also picked up the award for the top Spanish student in Guyana for the year 1998.I come from a family of teachers. My parents are both teachers and so are most of my aunts, uncles and cousins.

I live in Northwood with my family. I have a passion for languages and I am a very patient and interested in developing my students learning capacities and encouraging their appetite for languages . I am available to teach small children, kids up to the age of 14, students preparing for GCSE and A levels and adults who want to learn this beautiful language. However,my main focus is students preparing for GCSE and A levels . I focus a lot on developing pronunciation and fluidity and also in perfecting the four main components of language learning which is reading, writing, listening and speaking.

Teaching Experience:

When I lived in South America, I taught Spanish at two private schools for over 4 years. I specialized in teaching elementary spanish to kids aged 5 to 12. I also taught intermediate spanish to kids aged 13 to 16 who were preparing for their Caribbean exams and to adults who had a genuine interest in languages . I absolutely loved teaching spanish since its a language I love. I enjoy imparting the knowledge I have to other students.

I tutor in London mostly on weekends now. So far my classes have been doing quite well.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is two fold. For the young kids, I use alot of repetive exercises, aimed at sharpening their memory. I also like to engage the young kids in playing games , using flashcards and a wide range of colourful and interesting tools. Learning a language can be daunting for little kids and since their attention span is so short, I feel that it is very important to make the language fun for them so that they will actually look forward to learning the language instead of seeing it as a boring task. I use lots of pictures and incorporate drawing and painting activites in their Spanish learning. I also show them videos and songs. I take my ipad to classes and use it a lot to support my teaching.

For older kids, I first would teach a core lesson, then give simple exercises to reinforce what has just been taught. I allow the kids to try and grasp what I have taught and give them plenty of chances to ask questions . I think it is implortant for every child to fully understand each core lesson before moving forward to other lessons. I like to give bits of homework and also encourage my students to tell me if they think they need any extra exercises which I am quite happy to mark to ensure that they understand what is taught to them. I also use audio visuals and artwork in their learning. I also encourage students to make their own colourful flashcard sets or reference,

For GCSE and A level students I focus a lot on working through exam guides, perfecting pronunciations and developing listening and writing skills. I have a multitude of past papers I also work through with students and mark them and give feedback

Personal Description:
I am a former professional mathematician with 9 years' experience tutoring and guiding students to help them achieve their goals. I have a First Class Honours in Mathematics from the University of Warwick and a Masters in Computer Science from Imperial College London.

I currently run an educational startup with the goal of delivering high-quality education to families who would not ordinarily have access to good teaching. Prior to this, I worked as a Mathematical Modeller for a for a small biotechnology company in Cambridge, developing new mathematical techniques to help scientists predict which chemical compounds have a high likelihood of becoming effective drugs. A considerable amount of my previous professional work has involved explaining complex mathematical concepts to a lay audience, which I find is a very helpful background to have when tutoring students!

Teaching Experience:

I specialise in mathematics education as I feel this is preferable to being a jack-of-all-trades, although I have been known to help students with physics and computer science on occasion!

I have taught mathematics at the following levels:

* KS1-3, 11+
* GCSEs, A-Levels, International Baccalaureate and Cambridge STEP
* University entrance exams
* University level and beyond

I am familiar with the syllabuses of all major examination boards (OCR, Edexcel, AQA, CIE, etc) and have taught in one-to-one and small group settings, in addition to larger classes.

Whilst a large proportion of my teaching experience involves helping students to achieve As and A*s, I particularly enjoy helping students who are falling behind or struggling in class to achieve reasonable passing grades, as they are often the ones who see the most benefit from tutoring!

Tutoring Approach:

Every student is different, so I typically start the first session with an informal assessment to gauge the student's strengths and weaknesses. We then discuss goals and devise a suitable programme and schedule for achieving these targets. I also like to ensure I understand the student's personality so I can tailor my approach accordingly; in maths, there is usually more than one way to approach a problem! For instance, some students like real-life examples to help them understand new concepts, but others prefer to learn by observing the way I myself solve problems, and so I use a different approach in each individual situation.

Although many concepts in maths are quite complex, they can almost always be broken down into very simple ideas, so I show my students how to do this themselves. Maths is often very easy if it is approached in the right way! I also teach mathematical "tricks" not given in the books to help students understand concepts and solve problems more easily.

Last but not least, providing motivation for the student is very important, especially for an abstract subject like maths. My professional and academic experience has involved applying maths to everything from computer games to predicting the stock market and designing new drugs, and I often incorporate such examples and mathematical games into lessons to make the learning experience a bit more colourful and interesting.
