I am a graduate in Physics with Astrophysics, which was a four year degree, which included me living and learning in Italy. My degree was challenging yet enjoyable, and contained a lot of Maths, which to me was great! As a born communicator writing and teaching have always appealed, and I am keen to get into those areas. I also have a qualification in teaching English as a foreign language.

I also taught children EFL for 6 weeks over a summer. Whilst at university I tutored 1st and 2nd years in Physics, which included a lot of Maths. I taught English as a foreign language whilst I was in Italy. I am very comfortable in a one on one environment. W

Tutoring Approach:

As a keen learner myself, I understand what it is to learn. As a recent graduate I have the advantage of my subjects being fresh in my head, and a unique attitude to how we learn, what works and what doesn't. Always patient I can push without pressurising and make you feel more confident in your ability. I am also keen to know what and how my pupil wants to learn, and can listen as well as I can communicate

Personal Description:
I discovered my passion for teaching in 2006 during my experience as a teacher of Communication in the Mesoamericana University of Guatemala. During the yers in Guatemala I also taught Italian for adults for the local Italian Institue of Culture.
I left the country for safety reasons and wanted to continue the experience in Europe too.
I also wanted to learn English, that is why I have been living in London in the last 4 years.
I got a certificate as an Italian teacher for adults and I started to experience the pleasure of teaching both Italian and Spanish mainly as a private tutor for both online and face to face tuition. I also had a brief experience in a Londoner secondary school. I now tutor a few students and love this job, but I need to increase my teaching hours in order to get better money.
I feel as passionate about languages as about education and helping students to increase their interest in both a different language and culture is for me one of the most rewarding experiences of this profession.

Teaching Experience:

Jan 09-Present - Tutor of Italian and Spanish
Freelance
task based lessons for both face-to-face and online students
producing resources
application of original cultural elements such as songs and movies

Oct-Dec 08 - Modern languages Teacher Trainee
King Solomon High School, London
lesson planning under supervision
teaching full lessons under supervision
revising homework
end of unit tests
producing resources

Jul-Sep 06 - Teacher of Communication Techniques for unemployed students
Euroform (Professional Education School), Agrigento (Italy)
use of interactive techniques: role-playing, theatre exercises
tutor of individual students
author of a manual for students

Jul 05-Jul 06 - Teacher of Communication and Humanities at the Faculty of Communication
Mesoamericana University of Quetzaltenango, Guatemala
design of course contents
delivery of lectures and laboratory sessions
responsibility for examinations
involvement of students in extracurricular activities (cinema and television)

Jul 05-Jul 06 - Tutor of Italian language for Guatemalan professionals (part time)
Italian Institute of Culture, Quetzaltenango, Guatemala
listening comprehension exercises
application of cultural elements such as Italian songs and literature
emphasis on pronunciation

Tutoring Approach:

I am a patient tutor.
One of my strengths is to adapt my tuition style according to my pupils and I believe that the best way to engage students is through active involvement. My diverse background helps me to be innovative and creative in my classes where I incorporate the skills gained in other areas of my career, such as communication theory, theatre, cinema and radio.

Personal Description:
I am an enthusiastic Physics student at Exeter University. I am currently in my 4th year and received a Dean's Commendation for my results. I also love football and skiing and have a passion for both coaching and teaching. I took the three sciences and mathematics at A-Level and received three A*s and an A. I enjoy making science simple and believe that everyone has the ability to achieve in science and maths with the correct approach.

Tutoring Approach:

I am energetic and engage the student in the subject, relating every new topic with something they already know to reinforce learning.

Personal Description:
I am a second year undergraduate at Cambridge University (Christ's College) studying English Literature. At a world class university I have developed the ability to rigorously analyse language and the historical contexts that affect it: I am confident I can pass on these skills to the pupils I take on.

I am hugely passionate about literature of all periods and believe that sharing this excitement is essential for helping people learn effectively. I am lucky enough to have studied at first class institutes where my tutors had a genuine love for their subject and this has led me to, first hand, understand its importance and incorporate it into my teaching.

I excelled at both GCSE and A-Level English and scored full marks in my AS level examinations. Moreover, as I have, relatively recently, sat those examinations I have a practical and up-date understanding of the pressures and standards of current examinations and how to shine when sitting them.

Aside from my studies I am a very keen guitarist- I am currently working on my diploma- and lead a band, which gigs regularly, at university. I am also a passionate sports player interested in tennis, football, running, and windsurfing.

If you have any questions at all please feel free to send me an email.

Teaching Experience:

I have vast experience within teaching English and developing lesson plans: I worked at a school in Uganda teaching English to classes of up to 25 pupils. As the pupils ages varied from young boys to adults I am also confident tutoring all age groups. I also volunteered at a primary school in Highgate helping teachers supervise large classes of young children. Similarly, I have experience in tutoring one-on-one and, as my mother also tutors children, have helped her discuss how best to teach children.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in having engaging yet vigorous lessons and strive at all times to try and keep the pupils interested. Likewise, experience within sport, and in a band, has taught me the value of motivation and encouragement and I strive to utilise this within my lessons.

I am extremely organised, track the pupil's work and always have lesson plans in place. As such, I will always check when I first take on a pupil what their end goal is so we can effectively work towards it from day one. Ideally, I would like to be given examples of pupil's written work so I can assess their strengths and weaknesses.

I took all essay subjects at A level and regard writing them as a major strength of my academic work. It is surprising how poorly structured and written most GCSE, and even A-Level, essays are and I will teach students the fundamentals of writing essays, including introductions, conclusions, and topic sentences, to help maximise their marks.

Personal Description:
I am an enthusiastic and patient teacher with a passion for Mathematics. I believe that life is a constant learning experience and get much satisfaction in helping students in achieving their goals. I am extremely flexible and am always happy to go the extra mile for my pupils. For many pupils I understand Maths can be a very boring subject to some pupils however I choose to engage them with real life application of Mathematics, in order so they can truly appreciate the importance and satisfaction Mathematics can bring.

Teaching Experience:

I have extensive experience in teaching people from a wide variety of backgrounds to include very young children, some with learning difficulties, to high achieving GCSE students. I have even spent some time tutoring prisoners, helping them to learn functional Mathematical skills.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe the key to teaching success lies in the ability to tailor learning styles to the individual. My style of teaching therefore changes from pupil to pupil, and I like to encourage a general curiosity in my students to enable them to learn more from the world around them. I teach not just what to learn but HOW to learn it, as this is an essential skill for future years of studying ( at University etc)
