Personal Description:
I am an OCR Chemistry A Level examiner (specification A) and a teacher in a sixth form college. I have a PhD in Biochemistry (Distinction) and Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Distinction). Currently, I am only taking tutees studying the above mentioned specification, in order to provide highly specialised support. I offer tuition in person as well as online.

I have a PhD in Biochemistry (Distinction) and Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Distinction). My hobbies are varied, but I would mention football and chess.

Teaching Experience:

I have been an A Level Chemistry classroom teacher for four years. The knowledge and skills gained from delivering this specification allows me to tailor lessons to my tutee's needs. My resources and worksheets range from introduction of topics to activities that challenge students to the A* grade. I am aware of typical problem areas where students struggle as well as common misconceptions, and I tackle them in ways that students feel comfortable with. In addition to A Level Chemistry, my classroom teaching experience also includes GCSE Chemistry and HND in Applied Chemistry Level 4 and 5 (equivalent to first and second year of a chemistry degree).

My experience as an A Level Chemistry examiner enables me to guide students on how to maximise their performance in exams. I work with my students through mark schemes, helping them to interpret them, and revise independently. I emphasise the need for accurate terminology in explanations and clear working out of calculations. Also, I help students understand the structure of standard exam questions as well as approaches to unfamiliar ones.

As a private tutor, my teaching approach varies depending on the needs of the tutee. I have experience in helping students starting A2 , resitting AS, students aiming for A*, and students with special needs.

Tutoring Approach:

In the first lesson I show original documentation for identity, proof of qualifications and DBS (previously known as CRB) to my students and their parents.

I offer the first lesson as a free no obligation lesson, which is only charged if students decide to continue to have further lessons with me. Therefore if after the first lesson you are not fully satisfied and decide not to come back, then you would not have to pay for it.

My approach to teaching students consists of the following steps:
-To establish a good atmosphere between the student and myself.
-To identify the student's current level and the difficulties they are experiencing in the topic we are going to start working on.
-To define the learning objectives for the session so that students have a clear idea of what they need to learn.
-To keep a continuous interaction with the student during the whole lesson though questioning and different activities in order to keep the student engaged whilst I can check if learning is taking place.
-To evaluate the session in terms of what the student has mastered and what needs further work.
-To set homework so that the student consolidates the acquisition of new concepts and skills.

Personal Description:
I am a caring and enthusiastic Italian born teacher with many years experience in the private language sector. I have always been passionate about teaching, during my university years I started giving extra lessons to schools students and as soon as I graduated I completed a CILTA course to teach Italian to speakers of other languages.

Teaching Experience:

After I graduated in Spanish and English Literature and Linguistics in 2003 I began working at International House in Milan. I gained a wide range of teaching experience ranging from young learners to adults and from large groups of university students to one-to-one lessons with managing directors. When I moved to the UK, I started teaching in schools and companies in London. I have also gained the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training.
To keep my lessons fresh and my students interested I would always create my own teaching materials, that way I could always ensure that they were specifically tailored to the students' needs.

Tutoring Approach:

One of the skills I learned from many years' experience is to quickly understand students' needs and then construct my lessons around the individual. One-to-one teaching and tutoring focuses on the relationship between the teacher and the student, I am a friendly outgoing person and foster a very warm atmosphere in my classes which encourages relaxation and facilitates learning.
As a language teacher I always use the communicative method which is completely focused on the student and the idea that the most important aspect of learning a language is to speak that language right from the start.

Personal Description:
I am currently of an age that would allow me to retire but choose to continue teaching exclusively A level Maths and Further Maths full time. I do this because I love Maths, helping children and frequent holidays.

Teaching Experience:

Together with one colleague we are a most successful sixth form department based in a successful Wolverhampton 11-18 comprehensive school. I have taught in three schools altogether including my present one for thirty years. I have been Head of Maths for more than twenty years as well as an Assistant Headteacher and Examination Secretary.
I have been involved in the writing of very successful series of `A` level text books, I have marked SATs, GCSE and GCE `A` level exam papers and tutored over many years involving all exam boards and pupils from all Telford and district schools. This has involved experience of all the various pure and applied mathematics modules relevant to the new A-level specifications.
All three of my own children took Maths at A level, two of them Further Maths.

Tutoring Approach:

People and in particular children enjoy what they are good at; by offering them success at a carefully chosen and appropriate level I have been able to push them to grades beyond what had been expected and to a level of confidence that will carry them forward for years to come.
There are not many practising Maths teachers with more in classroom experience, I know where pupils will go wrong, I know the reasons they don't want to work, I know the tricks that will improve their grade. I am also able to give them a genuine respect for this most useful and necessary subject.
I will prepare lessons whenever possible, provide additional resources and set homework. I will expect homework to be done and be reluctant to continue lessons with pupils who have unrealistic expectations.

Personal Description:
Annie has enjoyed teaching Functional English (equivalent to GCSE English) for the past two years. As a published writer/novelist, her passion for writing is apparent in every lesson - whether for children or for adults.

Her degree in Theology and her position as Assistant Examiner for OCR, marking GCSE Religious Studies exam papers every summer, gives her a unique insight into the examination requirements. She has had educational resources published, relating also to GCSE Religious Studies. This all means she can teach 'to spec' every step of the way, in a lively, thorough and often humorous manner.

She is also enthusiastic about preparing KS2 children for their English SATs, and assisting AS/A2 Philosophy students with their course.

Finally, she is fully qualified to teach EFL/ESOL (English to speakers of other languages) and would welcome the opportunity to take on more students in this area.

Teaching Experience:

Two years teaching Functional English (adults).
Twelve years teaching assistant for KS2 (lots of SATS work).
Some A Level Philosophy teaching.
Some lecturing for degree course (Bristol Baptist College, Theology/ethics).
Assistant Examiner for OCR, marking GCSE Religious Studies exams.
Author of educational resources (GCSE Religious Studies) for Zig-Zag publishers.
Author of two novels (published).
18 years of voluntary youthwork (church), mainly teenagers.

Personal Description:
I am a graduate of Balliol College Oxford and have been teaching in London ever since leaving many years ago now. I live in West London with my family (although I am originally from Yorkshire) and like it here. We are all keen musicians too.

Teaching Experience:

As Head of Physics Department and then Director of Studies for two major Independent Sixth Form Colleges I have 35 years experience teaching A level Physics for many exam boards as well as examining. I wrote an A level revision guide for Penguin books called 'Masterstudies - Physics'.
I have taught mostly in small group situations but each year also teach a few individual students.

Tutoring Approach:

I enjoy communicating the underlying concepts in Physics and interactively building up a full picture of how the subject works for a student. I don't rely on a mathematical approach to the subject but encourage students to develop an all-round ability based on reasoned thinking as well as maths. Several students I have taught over the years have achieved 100% in A level Physics

Personal Description:
My name is Ed. I graduated from Durham University with 1st class honours in Maths and Physics. I achieved straight A result with six A-levels including Maths, Further Maths, German, Physics, Chemistry and Chinese. I am an experienced tutor and have previously tutored students from a variety of schools and universities. I am very patient and my primary focus is to help you achieve your goals and objectives.

I currently work in the finance industry. I also work as a private tutor for three leading well known tutoring agencies in London.

I am flexible and can travel to you as well as Skype tuition. I am available in the evenings on weekdays and anytime on the weekends.

Please contact me for further enquiries. I can provide you references upon request.

Teaching Experience:

Private Tutor at Bonas Macfarlane, London, July 2010 - Present
I tutor a variety of subjects at different levels from primary schools to A-levels. I teach Maths, Physics, Chemistry, German and Chinese. I also offer service on giving academic advice as well as interview techniques for entering into top schools and universities in the UK.

Private Tutor at Bright Young Things, London, September 2012 - Present
Bright Young Things is the second largest tutoring agency after Bonas Macfarlane whom I also work for. With Bright Young Things my focus had been Maths at A-level and GCSE.

University Marker, Department of Mathematics, Durham University, October 2009 - May 2010
I mentored second year Maths undergraduates at Durham University. I have learned to work through the arguments and thought processes of others and give constructive feedback.

Sixth Form Tutor, Framwellgate Sixth Form College, Durham, October 2006 - June 2009
I tutored Maths (GCSE, A-Level), Chemistry (GCSE, A-level), German (GCSE, A-Level) and Chinese (GCSE, A-Level) at Durham Framwellgate Sixth Form College for three years. I helped all of my tutees achieve more than what they were initially targeting to achieve. I also learned to prepare teaching materials and adopt various teaching methods.

Teaching Assistant, Student Associate Scheme, Middlesbrough, June to July 2008
Co-operated between the Training and Developing Agency (TDA) and the target schools in the Northeast, I worked alongside experienced teachers to gain classroom teaching experience.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is simple and effective. The general framework is to go through general concepts that are fundamental to student's understanding on the subject through the use of simple examples. I will then reinforce the message and encourage students to work on more specific and challenging problems. Confidence is key and it is vital that my tutees are constantly motivated and encouraged in order to self-develop both at an academic and personal level.

I also strive to make lessons as interactive as I can. I understand the different learning needs of different students. I will always be flexible and will do my best to help you succeed.

Personal Description:
Originally from Leeds, where I have a decade of teaching and tutoring experience, I like to keep things positive, upbeat, friendly and fun whenever possible.I am currently working for Sustrans delivering safe cycling training in schools and community groups all around the region. I enjoy sport, reading and music, I play a bit of guitar and love to cycle, so much so, I may well turn up to our session on my bike!

Teaching Experience:

I have taught Maths at Leeds City College for 10 years, receiving consistently good annual lesson observation results. I delivered classes at all levels from Entry 1 to Level 2 Functional Skills Numeracy and Foundation and Higher Level GCSE. Along side this, I enjoyed tutoring many students at KS2, KS3, GCSE and A Level. I also worked with learners looking to improve their Maths for related areas of study such as Engineering and Accountancy.

Tutoring Approach:

The most important aspect of a tutoring relationship is communication. The freedom to ask questions, seek clarification and repeat examples and exercises until a topic or concept is fully consolidated is the primary benefit of a private tutoring arrangement. I am flexible to the needs of my students and enjoy the challenge of finding solutions to learners' problems.

Personal Description:
I am a mature, bubbly and reliable individual; I have a passion for learning and thrive in passing my knowledge onto others. I am currently completing my Biology MPhil (Master of Philosophy) degree at Newcastle University; I am also a keen musician and have previously worked as a Music Teacher. I possess experience of successfully tutoring pupils of all ages; I take a flexible approach to teaching by playing to pupils' strengths, improving their weaknesses and exploring the best, most enjoyable way of getting new and difficult material across.

Teaching Experience:

Past Experience:
~Biology Demonstrator (Newcastle University)
~Biology Tutor (Self-Employed)
~Junior Music Teacher (Peterhead Music and Rock School)

I have extensive experience of working in educational settings. I was employed as a Junior Music Teacher at Peterhead Music and Rock school. There I taught from the ages of 4 - 40 keyboard, piano and musical theory. I learnt to adopt a patient, confident and professional approach and to build an instant rapport with pupils of all ages. I adapted my teaching style for the needs of each pupil and individually planned all lessons within good time. I prepped many of my students for exams (The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, ABRSM, accredited), for example one student achieved a Distinction Grade 1 piano whilst another obtained a Merit for her Grade 5 theory. I carried this experience on to my role as a Biology Tutor where I followed the curriculum and successfully aided a pupil in improving their grade from a D to a B.

While completing my Masters degree I worked at Newcastle University as a School of Biology Demonstrator. Through the role of Demonstrator I have gained valuable experience of helping to run undergraduate laboratory practical classes alongside experienced technicians and academics. My main tasks were to supervise the students; I would ensure they adhered to safety protocols and promote their understanding of the practical by assisting with any queries they may have. I developed a good rapport with both staff and students by adopting a friendly, hard-working and patient approach.

Tutoring Approach:

As mentioned in sections above; I am a very patient and friendly individual. My approach to tutoring depends entirely on the student I am working with. I very much like to tailor sessions to every individuals' needs and abilities, ensuring that the learner dictates the pace we work at.

Personal Description:
Hello!

I have a vast knowledge regarding art practices as I have been working in a studio as an artist and in a few galleries in London and Paris.
However, I have chosen to write rather than practice. After a BA in Art History and Fine Art, I have specialised in Contemporary Art Theory because it is for me primordial to consider art within its context. I have studied sociology, philosophy and geopolitics during my Master.

Moreover, I was until recently a Gallery Manager for an art collector who was hosting private salons and exhibitions. I have left this position to make a greater use of my knowledge. I am currently looking for my next step in either art and cultural programming or documentary production. I am working on various projects in those two fields and recently funded an art collective called Agora Circle.

Lastly, I will be doing a PhD in visual culture in the coming years.

Teaching Experience:

4 years

I usually work with a maximum of five children and ten adults and have some experience in 1-1 tutoring.

Tutoring Approach:

I would create a structure that empowers you by assessing your level during the first introductory session. This will take the form of a discussion on your interests, methodology and needs.

Regarding younger students, I follow the parents' requests while adapting to the young person as I believe everyone learns differently.

I am happy to support you in your research or practice, introduce you to art, help you deepen your knowledge or assist you with school projects and exams.
