Personal Description:
I have been teaching for over ten years now and have many years experience in industry as well. I currently Director of Learning for Business & Economics, and for eight years I taught at Roundwood Park School in Harpenden as well as teaching in at Caddington Village gaining me an experience of how students learn from 3-13 years old. I have tutored all levels and every exam board and the students I have taught have all gone on to university with some of them going on to Oxbridge Universities to study economics. I have references if you wish.

Teaching Experience:

I ran the A-Level business course and most of the GCSE course I also taught the majority of economics. In recent years our Economics results were in the top 2% of the UK for AQA. I trained at STAGS and Dame Alice Owens but predominately in Roundwood Park.

Tutoring Approach:

I am happy to have it fairly structured or pupil lead depending on what you prefer. I will provide the student with hundreds of additional files to continue and aid their learning. At A-Level I often find that the focus is on the writing style, therefore, I tend to focus on that whereas at GCSE I tend to go through the theory as well as key exam tips.

Personal Description:
I studied a BSc in Genetics at the University of Liverpool after which I worked in a microbiology laboratory. In 2008, I moved to Brighton, my home town, and completed a PGCE in secondary science with the University of Brighton. My teaching practice was in two West Sussex schools and I then worked a maternity contract as a Teacher of Biology in an all-girls school in central Brighton. Following this role, I worked as an Editor for a science publishing company based in London.

My most recent teaching position was as Teacher of Science at Bellerbys College, Brighton, an international school which prepares students for a university education in the UK. Since 2008, I have tutored many students from GCSE to University level providing guidance for exams and subject-specific support. I thoroughly enjoy imparting my understanding and love of science to others.

I have recently returned to England after living in Scotland undertaking an MSc in Psychology at the University of Abertay, Dundee, whilst also working as an Independent Advocate. Alongside this, having trained as a Yoga teacher with the British Wheel of Yoga, I teach private and group Yoga classes.

Teaching Experience:

I hold a PGCE in secondary science from the University of Brighton and whilst on this course I taught 11-18 year olds at two West Sussex schools. I then worked for a year, on a maternity contract, as a Teacher of Biology at an all-girls school in central Brighton. For three years I worked a full-time position as a Teacher of Science at Bellerbys College, Brighton.

I have eight years tutoring experience, having tutored Undergraduate-Level, A-Level, AS-level, GCSE and mature students in both Biology and Chemistry. I have a very successful track record.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very friendly and approachable, and highly dedicated to my students -- I put in a lot of time and effort to ensure they are achieving their full potential. Within the sessions, I provide solid structure and tailor my approach to their individual needs. I suggest work for completion outside of sessions and provide the students with direction to develop their private approach to learning and revision.

I am able to explain difficult concepts in an easily digested way, making learning for them enjoyable and confidence-boosting. I have a clear, patient manner, and an excellent grasp of my subject specialisms.

Tutoring Approach:

One to One - focussing on parts of the curriculum where the student is having difficulty in understanding
Create a deep understanding and confidence in answering exam questions and being able to tackle new and unfamiliar problems. The student is encouraged to think and make new connections for themselves. One-to-one personal tuition has a unique value to students because of the ability to resolve the students' personal barriers to learning in a way that lays the foundations for a deep and lasting understanding of the subject.

Depending on the student's needs and learning style I encourage students to think for themselves, using real-world examples wherever possible. I start from topics the students are comfortable with and move gradually towards more complex areas as their confidence builds. I use questions and examples to check understanding continually. I don't lecture to students or ask them to memorise things. Nor do I do the students' homework for them!

With programming language my approach is first to make the student using various simple approaches like an algorithm or with a flow chart to solve it then once the confidence if built up to go to the syntax of the programming language. This approach not only will help you master any programming language quickly but improve ones analytical skills as well.

Hello I'm Georgia and I'm a year 12 student. I take English Lit, History and Psychology A-levels as well as the EPQ where I will be creating a short film for my project. I love sharing my passion with those around me and would love to have the opportunity to help others love the subjects I do, especially English, History and Media based. Teaching Experience:

I've mentored several younger children as a senior student at Alderman White School, Nottingham with English, as I have an A* in my English Lit GCSE that I took a year early in year 10. I've also took every opportunity to help out with teaching others, especially students who join late to my courses and I manage to catch them up and prepare them for mocks to come. As well as this, throughout my GCSE's, I created plenty of advice sheets for my classes in History and English. I have a passion for English, I love reading and everything about it and would love to share my love for it with others!

Tutoring Approach:

I love the idea that I and many other people who are interested so much in a subject that they are willing to put themselves out there to share their enjoyment and intellect with others, casually or academically. Personal Description:
My name is Leo and I am an outgoing and friendly recent graduate with a First Class degree in History and Politics from Oxford University. I currently live in Ealing, West London. I am looking to tutor children and young adults in various humanities subjects during the year 2017-18.

I have thoroughly enjoyed studying at undergraduate level, and am looking to tutor to help fund a Master's degree in Modern History in 2018-19.

My interests outside academia include football (a keen and long-suffering Bristol Rovers fan), politics, walking in the countryside, and going on train rides to unusual and exciting places (most recently, a trip to the 'Far North Line' beyond Inverness, Scotland!).

Teaching Experience:

I have worked with children and young adults in various capacities:

Wadham College, Oxford, Academic Mentor for Politics Summer School (Aug. 2016)
Week-long residential summer school introducing deprived sixth form students to the study of politics at Oxford.
o 24/7 academic and pastoral support for 16-18 year-olds.
o Helped in seminars run by Oxford academics exploring the relationship between language and political power.
o Provided advice for applications to higher education institutions, including Oxbridge.

Oxford Hub, Schools Plus Volunteer (Feb. - Jun. 2016)
Tutored GCSE pupils at Oxford Academy, Cowley, once a week as part of student-run volunteering organisation.
o Tutored GCSE pupils in revision and exam practice sessions, both one-to-one and in groups.
o Engaged successfully with struggling students. Received positive feedback.

Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, Student Ambassador (Oct. 2015 - Jul. 2017)
o Ran an 'admissions preparation day' and practice interviews for disadvantaged applicants.
o Co-ran Q&A sessions for potential applicants, received positive feedback. Several of the students applied to LMH.

Private Tutor to 11-year-old for school entrance exam (2013-2014)
o Tutored once a week for two terms in verbal reasoning and mathematics
o Successful record: the pupil received a place at her chosen school

I have full DBS clearance for working with young people and vulnerable adults, and have been in the update service since 2016.

Tutoring Approach:

In my tutorials I look to enthuse my pupils with a genuine interest in the subject, and help them think about topics in new ways. I believe it is important to maximize their input in the session, encouraging them to explore their ideas and better understand the subject at their own pace.

My previous experience has been in tutoring pupils with set work, helping them complete assignments set by school teachers and exam revision. This can be supplemented by additional material such as revision booklets, additional books on specific subjects (especially useful at A Level), and relevant online content.

Above all, I aim to fulfil the brief given to me by parents and carers. This may be anything from boosting confidence and performance for upcoming school entrance or public exams, to providing a regular work structure, or simply offering guidance and encouragement with homework. Whatever your needs, I will work hard to see the best development outcomes and help all my pupils reach their potential.
