My name is Claudia. I was born in Argentina and have spent half of my life in Spain. I've been living in the UK for 8 years.
I'm passionate about languages and I have a BA in Business Administration and an IH Certificate as Spanish Teacher for Adults accredited by University of Barcelona.
Although my accent is from Spain, I am very aware of the differences between Latin American and Iberian Spanish
I am also a qualified Translator English into Spanish (DipTrans IOL) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists

I also teach in very small groups up to 4 people at a more convenient rate.
Special customized courses for companies in site.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to know my students interests to make the class as engaging as possible, as I believe that if the student enjoy the class it is more likely s/he will learn more, work harder and won't give up learning Spanish.
I also tailor the classes to meet student's needs tackling their weaknesses.
To reinforce learning I usually start with a short recap of the last class and based on student availability I give homework and correct it.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified teacher with 8 years teaching experience. I have a 14 year old step-daughter with AD/HD who is also on the Autistic spectrum. I also have a 5 year old daughter who is very able and a 2 year old daughter. I have been married for 8 years. but with my husband for 15 years.

I am looking to offer my services as a private home tutor to help struggling students with or without additional needs.

I can get references for previous tutoring jobs, upon request, as prior to having my 2nd daughter I had been tutoring for 3 families, preparing their children for their SATs and helping with homework. I am currently tutoring twins in Year 3, helping them with English and Maths skills.

I am prepared to come to your child's home but also willing to tutor from my own home if required earlier than 6pm.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for 8 years after working as a Special Needs Assistant and then completing my Primary PGCE at Kingston University.

I have spent my 8 years teaching in Special Needs schools working with students with Moderate Learning Difficulties, Autism, AD/HD, Downs Syndrome, Aspergers, Cerebral Palsy, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties and also visual impairments, as well as those with difficult home lives.

I have training in a successful Phonics scheme called Read, Write, Inc. Whereby students learn to read through intense synthetic phonics teaching which involves constant repetition and reinforcement enabling the student to learn effectively and quickly, gaining confidence in their ability. This would need some input from parents in order to be as successful as possible.

I absolutely love my job and now feel that it is time to offer my expertise, either in the evening or at weekends, to other children who find learning difficult and require a little extra help and support. I also feel that by my helping your son/daughter it will help you to cope with their needs in other areas without you having to worry about them struggling at school.

Tutoring Approach:

Wherever possible I would like to follow the schemes your child uses at their current school in order to not confuse them any further, but if this is not possible I will try to adapt my teaching style to accommodate ways in which they learn best. When it comes to teaching, students need to experience a variety of methods in order to find one that suits them. If this has not been established when I begin working with them it is something that I would work on quickly in order for the student to be able to start learning quickly and effectively.

Personal Description:
I am a very friendly person with a lot of patience, as teaching is profession which needs patience. I just finished my MBA in Banking and Finance from University of Wales.

Teaching Experience:

I have 8 years of teaching experience, which includes both teaching individuals as well as entire class of around 15 students. One thing that i must mention here is that I have been awarded "best teacher of the year" award for three years in a row. And the best achievement which i consider worth stating is the "World Distinction" which was achieved by one of my excellent student, in GCSE mathematics.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in good communication skills and strong experience in the concerned field. I personally prefer to teach one student at a time, so that i can give my complete and uninterrupted attention to that one student.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified and experienced teacher of mathematics and physics at GCSE and A level. I am registered with the DfE and possess Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Over the past two years I have conducted hundreds of Intervention Tutorials in local schools particularly in mathematics. In my private tutoring much of my work involves helping students to get the grades they need to pursue their chosen A level studies or to get to the university of their choice. My results in these respects have been first rate. I conduct home visits for students based in Bournemouth and Poole and online tuition for those based further afield.

Teaching Experience:

Over ten years teaching experience in schools, colleges and private one to one tuition. Throughout this time I have taught maths and physics mostly at GCSE and AS/A2 level. My experience covers AQA, OCR and Edexcel exam boards. It includes mathematics up to and including Further Maths (FP1/FP2,...)

Tutoring Approach:

Most of my tutees are looking for help in raising their grades especially for university entrance purposes and whilst I spend considerable time helping tutees work through past paper exam questions I always emphasise the need for a thorough understanding of the fundamental concepts.

Most of my tutees have a good idea where in the syllabus they have issues and these tend to be the starting point in a tutorial. Identifying gaps in their knowledge and understanding and then helping tutees to bridge these gaps is a key feature of my tutorials. I also place considerable emphasis on problem solving as this is ultimately what the exams are all about in mathematics and physics.

Personal Description:
I have had much help from tutors throughout my academic life so I can understand the value that is offered to a tutee by receiving extra tuition in this way. I am currently studying a Ph.D in Medical Science at Aberdeen University and studied my undergraduate degree here also gaining a 2.1 in my honours degree in Biomedical Science (physiology). The hours spent doing work towards my doctorate is fairly flexible and I have a car meaning my ability to fit around the schedule of others is very good. I consider myself outgoing, patient and very reliable.

Teaching Experience:

I was Biology prefect in my final year at school which involved helping to teach classes up until fourth year. I also carried out some work experience teaching primary school children PE and as part of my Ph.D I will be demonstrating for and tutoring first and second year undergraduates at the university. I have also had vast one on one tutoring experience from 13+ maths and science to standard grade/intermediate physics to advanced higher/A-level Biology and Chemistry.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring will be engaging, challenging and above all I will strive to create an environment which makes the tutee want to push him/herself. The result will be that the tutee will enjoy doing learning and the progress and benefits will start to become apparent. It was through this style of teaching/ tutoring that I found my strengths in academia and ultimately successes, therefore I wish to pass this confidence in learning on.

Personal Description:
I am a University student currently studying Psychology at Staffordshire University.
I am reliable, friendly and very enthusiastic about teaching.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored GCSE level and below students while studying for GCSE's as well as while studying for my A-Levels informally.

Tutoring Approach:

I understand that students don`t all think the same way and what method of learning might work for one student may not work for all students. I try as much as I can to cater to individuals to ensure they get the most out of my sessions.
I believe that with the right teaching and motivation, students can gain appreciation for any subject and enjoy rather than just endure the learning process.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified teacher of modern languages who combines bringing up a family with teaching French. I developed my love for languages from an early age. Coming from a bilingual home background I appreciate how language learning is an integral part of a child's development. My experience training in French Immersion education in Alberta, Canada has also added to my understanding of language acquisition and language learning.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified French teacher with over fifteen years teaching experience. I have taught MFL in both primary and secondary schools from Early Years/Foundation Stage to GCSE level and beyond. I have run after school French clubs for primary school children and have also taught French to adults in Adult-Ed evening classes.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a distinctive approach to language teaching which strives to develop the confidence and creative skills of language learners in the four key areas of language learning by employing a variety of teaching strategies depending on the age and preferred learning style of each student.
Firstly I try to get to know my students, and establish what they already know and can do in the target language.
Then we build on their strengths while at the same time identifying areas of weakness that need to be worked on.
Study is organised taking into consideration the aims of the student and the intended length of study. I provide homework at the end of each lesson with follow-up advice and guidance on each piece of work. Preparation for examinations is systematic, concentrating on topics and language tasks specific to examination requirements.
Above all I endeavour to impart to my students a life-long love for language learning.

Personal Description:
As a recent university graduate, I offer a closer bond with students than most tutors due to the lesser age gap. Many exams that students struggle with are ones that I myself have taken, so I can empathise and relate to issues students face on a better level than older tutors. I graduated in English Literature from UEA with a 2:1, achieved A*AA at A Level in English, Philosophy and History, and obtained 10 GCSEs at A* to A and 2 more at B. I was educated at Wilson's School in Surrey which during my time there was consistently ranked as one of the best boys' state schools in the country, and indeed was at number 1 in the rankings for a few years while I was there.

I am currently working towards an MA qualification with a view to going on to a PhD to pursue a career in academic lecturing and tutoring.

Teaching Experience:

Most of my experience comes from being on the receiving end of teachers and tutors from entrance exam up until university, and understanding their shortcomings and failings and what could have been done better. Crucially, I understand student mentalities and what students want and need at all levels. I have tutored Year 5-6s in Maths and Year 10-11s in English so far. Since joining UK Tutors I have taught a 9 year old in writing skills and a 15 year old in GCSE English.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer a fun and friendly way of helping the student to realise their full potential through going over schoolwork, practice papers and other forms of assessment - but critically, I focus on talking with and building a relationship with the student. I don't want them to see tutoring as just another school classroom with another teacher - it should be a fun and intellectually stimulating environment that they enjoy participating in. My experience has shown that if the student is enjoying themselves, they will perform to a far better standard.

I can offer high level teaching in English and History, as well as Philosophy, Critical Thinking and German to an A Level standard, Maths and Sciences up to GCSE standard, other subjects can be discussed.

Crucially, I was a master at dealing with exam pressure and good coursework - I will provide expert tutoring for students suffering from exam stress and help them to format and write essays for coursework. As I did much of the same things just a few years ago, I understand better than anyone what it feels like!

Personal Description:
I am a professional, conservatoire trained, theatre director, drama and LAMDA teacher based in London. My greatest strengths are my creativity on stage, ability to manage and communicate with people and to generally be an effective leader of different age groups, from Age 5 to Age 65.

My theatre voyage stydying MFA Theatre Directing at East 15 Acting School provided Jacques Lecoq puppet, clown and physical training and core modules examining Shakespeare, musical theatre, opera, comedy, contemporary British writing and actor training which has informed my practice as a teacher and director.

A huge part of my study was on theatre of the East, where I visited Bali, Indonesia for one term to study at Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI Denpasar). Here I had intensive training on forms such as Topeng Masked Dance, Legong Dance, Wayang Kulit and an introduction to Balinese Hinduism and performance cultures along with the opportunity to collaborate with actors, directors and filmmakers, and world-famous industry professionals.

I believe my administrative experience, my sales and marketing capabilities, together with my teaching and theatre qualifications with a healthy dose of imagination and a playful nature have all added to my effectiveness as an director, accomplished administrator, communicator and good all rounder.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked consistently in London theatres and in schools over the last 7 years and most recently have been working as the Artistic Director of Fusion Theatre Company, a company I founded, developing shows, workshops, education packs and training programs for pupils and teachers linking with National Curriculum Topics in order to utilise drama as a tool for learning. Most recently I have set up a LAMDA training section of the company, offering group sessions, duologue and monologue sessions for primary and secondary school.

Although I do the majority of my work within Theatre in Education and drama training, I also am currently the Associate Director of Maverick Theatre, whos mandate is to create reimaginations of classic literature in unexpected places.

Prior to setting up my own company, I was an assistant director, teaching assistant and technical operator at Trent College, for a number of shows, abridging and cutting scripts, marketing the school's productions, organising the shared diary and assisting with general curriculum work, organising year 9 classes and office administration. During that time I also worked as a LAMDA teacher with 14 students of my own, all of whom successfully achieved Grades 2 and 3 at the end of the summer term. During my second year I was given the opportunity to direct my own productions, as well as a substantial pay increase. I directed a sixth form production of "Two" by Jim Cartwright, followed by The Sixth Form Review [a comedy sketch show], a production of "Shakers" by John Godber, and a production of "Equus" by Peter Shaffer, and finally an outdoor theatre production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" with a year 7 group. Two years of hands-on experience in education taught me the fundamental rules of theatre, production, discipline and how to motivate others to give their best performance.

Theatre plays a vital role in education to nurture and create opportunities for young people, using the arts as a vehicle to understand the world they live in and the people they are as well as develop crucial life skills. I believe that the most effective way to learn is through theatre and performance and because of this I have an incredible love for youth theatre and working with children and find it extremely rewarding.

Since my study, I have been doing workshops and acting courses with students from University upwards. Whether it be a specific genre of theatre or audition pieces.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is completely guided by the person I am working with. My natural instincts as a teacher are to get the student to relate to the material as well as they can by giving them something to compare it with in their own life. As a student of LAMDA since age five and from my extensive experience as a tutor throughout my career I discovered that by adopting a personal approach to teaching and mentoring, identifying the individual strengths of each student, and harnessing and working with those strengths, I was able to yield some incredible results not just within primary and secondary school but utilising this practice for all ages.

Teaching Experience:

My expertise has been developed through 18 years experience of teaching English, Media Communication, Drama and Study Skills to 11-19 year olds, and leading whole-school portfolios in teaching and learning, assessment, staff development and curriculum. Embracing the challenge of leading a school in difficult circumstances, I led a dynamic and vibrant community committed to achieving success for all learners, raising aspirations and learning together in a supportive and orderly environment. My overarching leadership secured sustainable improvements in the quality of teaching which, in turn, led to significantly improved outcomes for students which saw the academy move from 'Special Measures' to a 'good' Ofsted judgement. Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is characterised by the following commitments I make to every learner I have the privilege of working with:

- I will place all learners firmly at the centre of the learning experience
- I will lead all learners towards understanding how they learn best and be mindful that academic success is underpinned by aspiration, healthy levels of self-belief, stress management, courage, organisational ability, resilience, creativity and motivation. And that's to name but a few!
- I will hold the highest expectations of all learners and craft memorable learning activities that will encourage a love of learning
- I understand that behind every set of examination results, irrespective of the scores, must stand a person who is equipped, personally, socially and culturally, to prosper in the 21st Century. For this reason, academic tutoring/coaching will always focus on personal as well as academic development.

The Study Skills coaching I offer can help resolve a wide range of common issues that can be barriers to effective learning. If you answer 'yes' to one or more of the following questions, study skills coaching could well be an investment that brings real value to your child and their future:

- Is your child's effort beginning to slip?
- Do behavioural issues exist in the school setting?
- Is your child frequently getting detentions for forgetting homework or being late?
- Do school reports show a dip in academic attainment?
- Does your child struggle to contribute to classroom activities, for example, answering questions or speaking publicly?
- Does your child give up too easily?
- Would your child benefit from improved social skills?
- Does your child become anxious around examination periods?
- Does your child require increased focus and attention prior to key examinations, e.g. entrance examinations, Year 6 standardised attainment tests and GCSE exams?

Flexible, personalised programmes can commence at any point during the year.

The first session is essential for the success of the programme going forward. In this session, we evaluate current learning strengths and weaknesses in the individual student. In order to get a full picture of the student's learning priorities, we undertake the following activities to determine areas for improvement and the best conditions for success:

- reflections from the student on how they feel about their learning experience
- a learning survey - it's good fun and gives the child/student a really useful exercise in self-reflection
- analysis of recent written reports which contain teacher comments and grades recording attainment, effort, attitude to learning, punctuality, etc. School reports can vary in format so it may be that not all this detail is available
- we ask that a parent/teacher is involved for the duration of this first session to provide their own reflections on the learning profile of the child
- completion of a personalised learning contract whereby the child/student, parent/teacher and coach agree on the required conditions needed for the child/student to be successful during the programme.
