Personal Description:
As a fully qualified and experienced Teacher and Tutor of Mathematics and English, I am passionate about helping students to achieve their maximum potential and boost their grades at school.

Teaching Experience:

As a Supply Teacher with the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, I enjoy teaching various Year Groups from Year 1 to Year 6.

Also, as a well established local Private Tutor, I pride myself on my commitment to providing a professional and personal tuition service at all times.

By focussing on establishing a positive relationship with each student, and setting clear learning targets based on their ability, my tutees either achieve or exceed their learning targets.

I am able to adapt my expertise to the needs of students of all ability and age levels, including those whose second language is English, children who are preparing for entrance test examinations, or those children who may be falling behind at school for one reason or another in their Maths and English.

I also prepare adult learners for Professional skills tests in Literacy and Numeracy.

Here are a few of the comments that have been made by some of my students:

After a short period of intensive GCSE Maths revision, Mr Brown commented, "Great tuition, made a big difference to my son's exam results."

Mr Jones, an adult learner, recently commented that, following a course of tuition in Literacy skills, he "now feels more confident in writing, spelling and grammar" and that "communication via email and telephone was excellent".

Mrs Barker has also recommended Tina, stating that "Tina has achieved excellent results for our daughter in GCSE English" and that she is "personable and has high integrity".

Mrs Smith claimed that her 7 year old son, Josh, "has gained in confidence and ability since receiving tuition. He has enjoyed his sessions and has felt more able to tackle challenging work."

Tutoring Approach:

I am passionate about both high quality teaching and learning and would describe myself as an enthusiastic, dedicated and professional Teacher and Tutor who has enabled a significant number of students to achieve their maximum potential and boost their grades at school.

When working with a student, I believe it is important to provide a friendly and informal learning environment so that they can develop and learn at their own pace. While my approach is calm and encouraging, I also ensure that activities are stimulating and based on the student's age and abilities so they can enjoy and extend their learning and understanding at their own pace.

Personal Description:
I graduated from The University of Nottingham in 2008 where I studied English. Prior to this, I studied at Tormead School in Guildford. I now work in Book Publishing where my English skills come into use everyday.

I have a passion for English and French literature, enjoy writing, travelling and experiencing different cultures.

In my spare time I enjoy reading, playing guitar and socialising with friends.

Teaching Experience:

I have mentored in the past at school. I have also applied to undertake the PGCE teaching course this year.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a relaxed yet professional approach. I am patient and understanding and believe strongly in the philosophy that there is no such thing as a 'silly' question. Each individual finds some aspects of a subject easier than others and it is about exploiting your strengths and working on weaker areas.

I like to tailor my lessons in order to suit what the student wishes to work on - I'm very flexible in this area.

Personal Description:
My name is Andrew and I currently live in Fleet, Hampshire. I studied Fine Art up until degree level which I accomplished a 1st class BA Hons Degree in Fine Art. I paint mostly portraiture in a hyper-realistic fashion however I have also experimented with many different and expressive styles of art work, as well as sole abstract work.

Teaching Experience:

I currently work for the Meath Epilepsy trust in Godalming where I teach as an observational and technical instructor for the mental health adult clients who live there. There I work closely with the students building up their personal portfolio in their art work consisting of painting, drawing, charcoal and pastel mark making equipment.

I also teach privately and run art workshops in my spare time in which I teach mature students art techniques in drawing and painting. My main qualities in teaching come from portraiture and painting with acrylic and oil paint.

Recently I have completed the PTLLS teaching training course and wish to continue my studies in teaching within the near future.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that teaching is about personal connection with your students and interacting with them on their level rather than simply 'getting the job done'. I can teach someone how to do something and for them to copy my influence is something however to teach someone to do it well themselves without my aid takes time to practice over and over certain techniques and my advice. I think a student should be taught from the ground upwards and by neglecting bad influences from the past the student can become highly skilled and more importantly 'satisfied' with their work and practice.
I teach my students by constantly reminding them of basic principles of drawing/painting techniques and methods for which the student automatically revises their own work and own mistakes alone.

Personal Description:
I have a BA grade 2.1 obtained at University of Chester in English and a CELTA/ESOL teaching qualification from University of Cambridge. I am a bilingual speaker of Italian and Spanish. I have been teaching for five and half years in state schools, academies, summer camps for young learners of languages and private houses. There is nothing that gives me more satisfaction and sense of fulfillment than teaching languages. It is a fascinating experience to see students learning and progressing, and gaining confidence in expressing themselves in another language.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored and taught Italian, Spanish and English as a Foreign Language for more than 5 years in schools, academies, languages summer courses and private houses. I prepare GCSE/IGCSE/A-Level students for their examinations or coursework and speakers of other languages for ESOL/Trinity College examinations. I have also taught Spanish and Italian for business purposes in private companies and in one-to-one sessions. I can adapt my teaching resources to different teaching environments such as students' homes, my own home, clubs, conference rooms etc. I use IT such as PP presentation etc, and textbooks. I have created my own resources as well, in order to adapt to different needs and enhance students' level and abilities.
I can provide references( from head teachers, adult students, etc.) regarding the high standard of my teaching methods. Students have always attained high marks in their examinations after being tutored by me.

Tutoring Approach:

I can design and tailor my lessons plans following my personal syllabus- which include a range of activities that stimulate the different skills required when learning a foreign language, namely writing, reading, speaking and listening. I can target specific areas, if needed, such as pronunciation, use of language, grammar or reading.
I can create my own resources using the internet, textbooks and other sources of information. I usually take into consideration the different abilities of students in order to tailor my lessons and make them more effective and interesting.
My lessons are designed to motivate and encourage independent learning. I elicit from students as much knowledge as possible from previous learning in order to scaffold it with new notions and provide them with practical linguistic tools. I stimulate their productive skills, e.g. speaking and writing, by using visual cues or written prompts in order to give them suggestions and make them work independently. I use as much 'real life'material- Internet, DVDs, songs, extracts of conversations from foreign media, etc.- as possible. I tend to do this from an early stage of the learning experience in order to make the student aware that the language they are learning is a live and real one, spoken by millions of people overseas. When teaching English as a Foreign Language, I motivate students to practice English outside the lesson environment and provide them with practical speaking skills. All this, of course, alongside the academic preparation for their exams.
I am an approachable teacher, and I like to create a comfortable learning environment where the student can build up his/her confidence to use the foreign language and 'take the risk' to speak Italian, Spanish or English. A good teacher is the one who can guide the student without being too intrusive. In short, the teacher must be able to listen and interact with their students. Only in this way students can have a truly enjoyable and rewarding learning experience.

Personal Description:
I am a multilingual ex-City consultant with degrees in Physics and Environmental Economics.
I tutor Maths, Physics, Science and languages (French, German, Spanish, Latin). I am a very patient tutor who understands very well the challenges of learning.

Teaching Experience:

I have one-to-one experience in tutoring Maths, Physics, French and Latin. Most of my experience is from my engagement with a south London initiative called GCSE success.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a very patient tutor who values getting the 'basics right' before building on that knowledge. I am very flexible and adaptable depending on the pupil's aptitude and interest in the subject. I tend to use visual aids for Maths and Physics tutoring with very positive results. For languages I also use teaching and memory methods in order to help the pupil progress rapidly with visible results.

Personal Description:
Hi my name is Tom and I am an English and Creative Writing student at the University of Warwick. I am currently in my second year. First things first, I am very passionate about tutoring and teaching in general; after university I would like to go into teaching, but more than that I fully believe I wouldn't have got to university, and achieved so highly at A Level and GCSE if it hadn't of been for loads of great tutors and teachers along the way.

I am really flexible with hours and location, and I am more than happy to conduct sessions over skype if needs be.

I hope to see you soon!

Teaching Experience:

I was part of a really successful scheme at A-Level where I taught English Lit to AS level students who were struggling with the syllabus. Aside from this, when not at University I like to help my younger siblings with whatever work they have on at school. It hasn't been that long since I was out of A Level or GCSE education, rather than hinder me I feel like this makes me a much more personable and approachable tutor than someone 10 or 20 years my senior

Tutoring Approach:

I am a firm believer in listening as opposed to dictating to a student, the answers are always already there it more often than not takes a change of scenery and a good listening ear to bring them out (I end up coming away learning just as much as the students!) As a poet and practising writer I always encourage creativity in approach, however this is not to the detriment of clarity, precision and punctuality in getting the work done and the targets met. I will be committed to learning syllabus' and mark schemes in order to fine tune answers to grades, without making it boring for my students. As I've said above, it hasn't been too long since I too sat these exams so I feel I have a really fresh and relevant knowledge and approach to not only help boost your grades, but also to show you it can be pretty alright too!

Personal Description:
I am a graduate with a 2:1 BSc Hons in Zoology (a biology-based science degree). I am currently working in an administrative role for a local agricultural and environmental company, and in September 2016 I will begin my PGCE to teach Math at secondary school level at York University.

While at university, for two years I volunteered some time each week with the Riding for the Disabled Association. This is an organisation that provides a therapeutic horse riding experience to children and adults of all ages who have physical and/or learning difficulties. I found this experience extremely rewarding, and certainly learned a lot from my time with RDA.

My hobbies include music, theatre and horse riding.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored the children of two family friends (both were aged 10-12 at the time). I also volunteered with the Riding for the Disabled Association.

Tutoring Approach:

My main teaching 'philosophy' is patience - if a student isn't understanding something, it is never the student's fault. It is my job, as a tutor, to find another way of explaining it or another approach until we have a clear understanding. I believe tutors and teachers should allow the student to be curious, explore and make discoveries for themselves. However this should , of course, always be provided within a structured environment.
