Personal Description:
I am 22 years old and have recently graduated with a degree in Architecture. I am currently at a stage of uncertainty as to my future career, so before I potentially embark on a Masters of Architecture degree I feel I need to become more independent, and firstly experience the other options that are available to me with my skill-set. I have always been passionate about Maths, receiving an A* at GCSE level and an A at A level, as well as a B in Further Maths at AS level. For a long time whilst choosing my degree I considered going into teaching, as something I have always noted and valued in a teacher is their ability to communicate accessibly their subject, and especially in the example of Maths this is something that can really underpin the level of understanding the child has, and subsequently their success in it. With the few teachers that, frustratingly, knew exactly what they were talking about yet conveyed it in an overly complex/wordy fashion, I always found myself thinking 'I'm sure I could explain that better!'. In the end I chose to study Architecture as I wanted to express my creative as well as scientific side, and for that it has been an incredible outlet and endlessly fascinating topic, from which I have learnt so much and pushed myself so hard, and s a result I am very proud to have achieved First Class Honours in my degree.
In my work I am always conscientious, driven and a perfectionist, and outside of it I am personable, polite and easy-going. I love reading, film, photography, drawing, running, yoga and squash. I am currently teaching myself Spanish, as I hope to visit the country one day to work or live temporarily.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring professionally for around 8 months now, during which time I have been able to gradually build my reputation as a veritable and reliable tutor, through taking on a number of students of various ages and with various needs (including SEN students). I have received extremely positive feedback from the students I have tutored as well as their parents, and have seen proof of my skills through the improvement of my students grades as a result of my tuition, most notably one AS student whose grade went from a U to a high C.
I participated in the Student Associate Scheme in 2010 through my University, which involved a 3 day intensive teacher training course followed by a 3 week placement in a local school, in which I assisted several teachers in a specific subject of my choice (I chose Maths) at GCSE level. As my placement was shortly before the children sat their GCSE Maths exam several of the sessions were designated for revision, during which I tutored children one-on-one as well as in small groups. I received very positive feedback from the teachers at the end of the placement and it was an extremely inspirational period that strongly encouraged me to look into teaching/tutoring as an option for the future.
As well as this I have an 18-year old brother who has just taken his AS Level exams - and I helped him as much as possible with his revision, both via Skype and in person when I was home from University for the holidays, which I found to be a mutually beneficial experience as I was able to learn the criticality of patience and repeated practice in order for him to comprehend the topic as fully as necessary - as well as that of adapting my tutoring style to suit a specific personality or way of learning.

Tutoring Approach:

My strengths lie in the fact that my approach to topics is always accessible, and I ensure that students have understood what we are working on before moving onto something else. I go through example questions first, then supervise the student while he/she attempts them on their own - always covering the possible variations there could be. I also put extra effort in by making cue cards and reminder notes on what we have covered - this way the student doesn't need to remember everything from the session as long as they have these triggers. With Maths I have learnt that patience is indeed a virtue, and that it is certainly worth spending an extra 20 minutes on one specific topic so that the child can make the leap between being able to answer a question with guidance and fully understanding it for him/herself - I think anyone can learn to be good at it as long as they are taught in the right way; as all it takes is that one 'click' for everything to fall into place and suddenly make sense in their mind.
I pride myself on being a good listener, and I think this is vital especially in a one-on-one situation with a child to gauge their response to your teaching. This helps me to be versatile in my approach to specific children, and having not been out of school too long myself I am very aware of the tricks children use against their teachers!
Also, because I realise I am still young compared to some teachers, I use this to my advantage by making the child feel at ease in my presence - from my experience I have never learnt anything by being made to feel stupid, and I find that it is more beneficial to develop a relationship of understanding, so I ensure that I assert my authority without appearing intimidating.

Personal Description:
I have lived in the UK for 28 years and I am a native Spanish speaker with a PhD in Molecular Biology. I am fully fluent in English and Spanish to a very high level. I hold a current full CRB check.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught under 11 year old, young adults and adults for 12+ years. I have also trained adults in team building and sales management and taught at University level.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is dependent on what the client aims are. The way I teach is based on what the client wants, how fast the client wants to achieve those aims and the level in the language. I dont use a standard course as every person is an individual and the teaching will be tailored to her/his way of learning. I will agree with the client to achievement milestones so that progress can be measured.
To clarify a few examples:
1.-If the client only wants to speak and understand I will tailor the teaching to that level.
2.-If the clients wants to become fully fluent in Spanish the approach is much more intense and determined
3.-GCSE (Higher or standard) level is taught to that level only, the same goes for A level and such

I do not tend to follow a set course as everyone is different and will have their strengths and weaknesses when it comes to learning. I will tailor my teaching to the strengths so that you can learn as fast and effectively as possible

Personal Description:
I am an experienced teacher of both classics and modern languages, and have taught in a variety of secondary schools. I have stopped classroom teaching now because of the demands of a young family but I am keen to carry on teaching in a different capacity. I am passionate about languages, words and communication and love to share this with others. I have lived abroad for prolonged periods in France and Italy, and travel to see friends there whenever possible.

Teaching Experience:

Since completing my PGCE in 1992 I have taught Latin, Greek, French and Italian, from beginners to A level and Oxbridge, in secondary schools, both private and state. More recently I have been giving private lessons to both adults and teenagers.

Tutoring Approach:

Successful language teaching should combine a fun approach using oral practice including song lyrics and games with a more structured approach to grammar; this gives the student confidence that they really understand the language used. The advantage of private lessons is that I can focus on what the individual learner wants, which might be lots of oral practice to become more proficient at speaking, or to pass a specific exam. I do like to set homework from week to week as this is an important part of progress; but it is not compulsory!

Personal Description:
I have recently finished my course in Accounting and Business Management in Central London where I attained a first class degree. I have recently set up my own tutoring business through referrals that I had been receiving. I'm great children and find it easy to relate to struggles and problems that they may be facing in school. I have a genuine agenda to help improve student's ability in Maths and where applicable offer transferable skills that could be useful in other subjects.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience of teaching in summer schools in East London to children aged 5-17. I have had work experience in Shooter Hill Post 16 in Maths. For the last five years I have been going to student's home to teach them and have come across many different issues that has given me a wealth of knowledge and experience. Although I'm able to teach Business exceptionally well, I focus on Maths because of experience in the subject start from Key Stage 2 through to GCSE level.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching Maths is locating areas of where there is lack of understanding and building foundation from there. The most common problem is that some concepts have not been understood and therefore the student cannot go further until it is understood. It is therefore pivotal that a general assessment takes place.

Teaching is something that I enjoy doing. I believe in clarity and tend to teach people in manners which I wish I was taught. I break things down and offer plenty chances for the student to ask questions. My approach to tutoring is to equipped the student with relevant knowledge first then immediate application. I want to create an environment where the student can inform me if they don't understand the topic. I like to give simple questions until they are confident enough to deal with an advance question. I believe in encouraging students and making the learning process exciting and fun.

Personal Description:
I am a current first year student at the University of Bath, studying for a Masters in Aerospace Engineering. I have achieved great academic results at A-Level from Wallingford Sixth Form.

I`m available from 14th of December to the 4th January, so if you need to go over more challenging areas of the course, I`m happy to help.

Teaching Experience:

I have limited experience in tutoring but i have helped course mates frequently when they do not understand the curriculum or haven`t understood the method that the lecturer uses. I tend to find that changing the technique of teaching a subject allows you to understand it better.

I also helped friends and family who are studying A-levels in maths, further maths and physics.

Tutoring Approach:

I'm very patient with tutees and take the time to make sure they learn the topic subject thoroughly. As I said before, I tend to vary my methods of teaching if the tutee doesn't understand how i'm teaching it. I also think it is a better learning environment if the session has a specific plan in mind but is informal enough to allow the tutee to query anything that they don't fully understand.
