Personal Description:
I am a 29 year old female professional, with a First class Honours Psychology degree and full Primary teaching status, as well as specialised experience, skills and knowledge in working with children and young adults with severe learning disaibilities.
I am well-travelled and moved to Brighton in the summer of August 2008, to experience life near the sea within the UK. I have also lived in London, Australia and New Zealand.
I practice Hot Yoga and am a keen horse-rider as well as a scuba-diver. I also attend various forms of dance class, including Nia and Dance of Awareness.

Teaching Experience:

I am in my sixth year as a qualified teacher and have worked within education of young people, particularly those with special needs, since I was 16.
I have worked within a nursery over a 3year period, covering sickness and holiday relief, caring for children from all ages between 6months-5 years.
I have taught in all Primary year groups and currently have a Key Stage 3 class, specialising in Autism. I am upto date on many special needs provisions and have strong behaviour management skills. I am also a middle manager and the lead teacher for Literacy and Numeracy, for students ranging from age 5 to 19 years of age.

Tutoring Approach:

Learning should be enjoyable, interesting and applicable to real-life. Education lacking these elements will not, in my mind, endear itself to young people.
I am fair and consistent and expect high standards from all my students. I will always endeavour to cater for personal needs and to make learning individualised and therefore accessible.
I will not accept laziness but I will accept honesty - if a student finds something difficult, they know to tell me in order that I may assist them and overcome that particular hurdle.
When I am tutoring at GCSE/A'Level'Degree level, I also endeavour to make the sessions motivating, but ensure they are more student-lead and will scaffold the sessions but find tutees have more success when they are able to be guided rather than dictated to.

Personal Description:
I am a French national who has lived 30+ years in England and after a 25 year career in the secondary and Sixth form sector, I have become self employed as a language trainer and examiner.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in Sixth form colleges for 25 years , tutored evening adult classes at the local College of further Education, I have been a teacher at the Alliance Francaise in Manchester from 2000 to 2010, I am an Advanced Level examiner and have marked the GCSE OCR French exam too. I teach business French in a number of companies.

Tutoring Approach:

Teaching one to one, in small or larger groups.
Teaching 16-19 year olds , adults at every level of language learning, preparing University students for their oral / written examinations,in intensive, semi-intensive, regular weekly packages, etc...
I believe in the communicative approach, developing the speaking and listening skills, reading and finally writing, but all depends on the way the learner wishes to use the language. Obviously, in the case of pupils and students, the syllabus has to dictate the format of the preparation..
The important thing is that the learning experience should be pleasant, positive and empowering

Personal Description:
I am easy to get on with, enthusiastic and dedicated. I enjoy a wide range of activities from playing the piano to playing rugby. In 2012 I graduated with a 1st class BSc in Medical Biochemistry and am now currently studying post-graduate medicine at the University of Warwick.

Teaching Experience:

My first experience of teaching came when I was asked to mentor pupils further down my school and help them to read and write. In later years I also helped S.E.N children with ways to overcome some of the challenges that they face, for example techniques to learn spellings or equations. Whilst at university I also helped a number of people with not only theoretical aspects of the course but also with practical elements as well. One of my proudest successes was when I tutored a student on a different course who had never encountered quadratic equations before. By the end of the term she achieved one of the highest marks in the year (>80%). I have also been asked by several peers to help them with communication and presentation skills.
I have worked as a Carer specialising in Children with special educational needs (S.E.N). During my time with them I try to teach them interesting things about the wider world, whilst also helping them with basic safety skills such as how to cross the road.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to work with my tutees and help them to identify any problems they have. One of ways I like to do this, is by getting the tutee to explain the topic to me. This allows me to try and identify if there is a misunderstanding in their prior knowledge that might be impeding their current learning. Once the trouble areas have been uncovered I will work methodically through the topic using a variety of techniques to help them gain the knowledge they require. After a tutee has come to grips with the topic, I ask them to explain again the whole topic to me in any way that they see fit (be it a presentation or written prose it is up to them!). Not only will this help to instill a confidence in their own knowledge but also aid in teaching valuable communication skills that will be beneficial throughout their life.

Personal Description:
I am currently a fourth year student at the University of Glasgow completing my MA(hons) in History. I have just returned from spending my third year studying abroad at the University of Auckland, New Zealand and I love travelling and meeting new people and have been lucky enough that this opportunity allowed me to meet people from all over the world! As well as studying History, the beginning two years of my degree included Theatre Studies modules and English Lit modules.
In addition to my academic work, I am also a keen musician, having achieved Grade 8 ABRSM in Violin, Viola and Singing as well as Grade 5 theory.
I am happy to travel within Central London to tutor.

Teaching Experience:

I have always enjoyed working with young people and used to volunteer at my local youth theatre every week, working with large groups leading them in games and activities as well as smaller one to one coaching sessions, helping build an individuals confidence and developing key skills and understanding.

Tutoring Approach:

I feel that when it comes to tutoring it is key to have an understanding that no question is too stupid and a friendly work environment so that the things that get missed in a classroom can be addressed. I am an easygoing and enthusiastic communicator and am keen to focus on each individuals needs, be it going over homework, readressing and explaining new ideas or focusing on essay and exam writing skills. At the core of subjects like History, English and Theatre Studies is communication and personal interpretation so I find that just by having in depth discussions these skills can be improved!
I am incredibly passionate about these subjects and am keen to help others enjoy them as well as learn and improve!

Personal Description:
I am a friendly, patient and reliable 22 year old who enjoys helping students of all ages achieve their full potential. Having recently completed my degree in Mathematics and Music at Cardiff University, I am also well travelled and love meeting new people.

Teaching Experience:

I have a great deal of experience working with children and adults of all ages and abilities: for the past three years, I have worked as a Student Tutor in a college helping students study for GCSE and A Level Mathematics. Whilst studying for A Levels, I was able to tutor many students in the early years of secondary school. As a warranted GirlGuide leader, I organise weekly educational activities for children between 11 and 14. I have also spent a substantial amount of time working with children with disabilities, from the learning setting to camping/play areas.

Tutoring Approach:

My style of tutoring is one that highlights the fun aspects of Mathematics/Music. I will work towards improving a student's weak areas by relating the topic to everyday life, or an area they are competent in. By being empathetic to a student's knowledge, background and learning style, I aim to motivate and inspire students to reach their goals.

Personal Description:
As a tutor, I take time to determine the confidence of the student in all the areas of their curriculum, finding where they are having difficulties. Together, we then examine problems, breaking them down into fundamental steps and building confidence along the way.

Having completed four years of a physics undergraduate and masters degree, and having obtained good A grades in A-level physics, chemistry and mathematics, I am fluent in all the material that the student will come up against, and know the ''tricks'' of how to understand and remember the important information.

I always take the time to discuss science in no nonsense terms with my students. Beyond teaching my students to pass exams, I have always sought to demystify science and mathematics through one on one discussion.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored both Gcse & Alevel maths and physics.
I have also taught tutored students through first year physics modules and held small group tutorial session for first year university students.

Tutoring Approach:

relaxed friendly always give a introduction to the theory a certain topic followed by lots of practice questions and examples.

Personal Description:
My name is Stefano, I'm a 24 years old MSc student in Theoretical Physics at King's College London.
I'm Italian, but I have spent the past 4 years in Amsterdam, where I obtained my BSc with Honours at the Amsterdam University College.
Despite Physics is my main occupation, I very much enjoy other academic subjects as Politics, Neuroscience and Philosophy. I also have many hobbies which I try to keep up in my free time, especially music; I enjoy composing contemporary classical music at the piano.
In the past, I have been a professional waterpolo player for about 2 to 3 years, but then I switched to an academic career. Nevertheless, swimming and waterpolo remains one of my favourite hobbies.

Teaching Experience:

I have acquired tutor experience with students of an age between 10 and 14 years old. I taught them Mathematics and some of the first concepts of Physics.

Tutoring Approach:

Subjects like Mathematics and Physics require a deep level of understanding and intution. Contrarily to the popular view, intuition is something that can be taught and trained. Having this as frame of reference, I first try to guide students through the most fundamental concepts of the subject in consideration, giving them tools to think appropriately and experiment the idea, the logic behind it. I want students to understand what they are computing and why they are doing it that way; this is far more empowering and long-lasting than merely learning to compute something.
