Personal Description:
I am an experienced teacher of Business Studies and Economics. I am also an economics EXAMINER so have insight into the summer exams that would prove benefical to you. I have experience in running revision workshops at Christmas, Easter and prior to the summer exams.

I also co run revision exam confidence courses during the Easter at Seaford College. During the revision courses you will work alongside Principal / Chief Examiners, and highly experienced and qualified subject tutors. At Exam Confidence we believe that it is this 3-step approach that will ensure you achieve your ambitions and fulfil the best possible grade that you can.

Students attending one of our innovative revision workshops benefit from small class sizes offering them maximum exposure to the tutor, highly qualified teachers, a senior examiner and a performance psychologist. This mixed approach allows areas of concern to be investigated and explained until subject understanding is clear and exam recall increased.

With AS & A Level January exams fast approaching a one day workshop is the ideal way to ensure that you are exam confident and prepared.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently teaching GCSE and A Level Economics and Business Studies (AQA and Edexcel for both Economics and Business). I mark exam papers for Economics and Business studies so can easily tailor your specific tutoring requirements to the exam requirements.

Tutoring Approach:

I will carrry out an inital assessment with you to ascertain where you struggle most of all, following this inital assessment we will set a plan to follow, setting target grades and regular assessment for you to complete. I will ensure that your lessons are fun and interactive but with the main aim of improving your target grade. I will ensure that the lessons are fun, interactive but most important of all ensure that you improve your understanding and therefore your final grade.

I am happy to take questions on homework that you are stuck on during the week and encourage you to do so. Please see the previous feedback.

Personal Description:
I have lived in the Virginia Water area for over 20 years and have 2 sons who are now at university. My undergraduate degree was in maths at Aston University and I studied for a PhD at Reading University. Since leaving university I formed and run a computer company for 27 years and have since formed and run 2 successful businesses as Managing Director. I now run my current business on a part-time basis.

Teaching Experience:

I lectured mathematics at Reading University to undergraduates and have tutored many A-level students.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to work with the knowledge students have on a subject and then build from there. With maths it is at times necessary to re-visit the fundamentals - these can be forgotten as time passes. I have a wealth of information sheets and tips covering the various topics on the syllabus and make use of past papers to prepare students for their exams. I like to discover a students strengths and weaknesses early on and believe my experience helps me with that.

I consider myself calm, patient and supportive. Lessons are structured to and tailored to meet the student's needs and include a variety of hands on material and varied learning styles.

Personal Description:
I'm a research student at Glasgow School of Art. I did my Masters in Rotterdam, and my BA at Chelsea College of Art and Design in Fine Art. I've been working as an artist and costume designer for the past couple of years as well as tutoring English and Art.

Teaching Experience:

I started teaching English when I moved to Rotterdam to do my MA, I gained a CELTA qualification and taught both academic and business English, mainly to adults. Since moving back to the UK, I have focused on tutoring KS3 and exam preparation for Standard Grades and Highers. I've also done quite a bit of BA thesis tutoring for Art and Design students.

Tutoring Approach:

I'm a flexible and responsive tutor, aware that often students struggle to prepare for their exams because they don't understand the manner in which they are being taught rather than a fundamental problem with the subject matter. It is my job as a tutor to find ways for the student to engage differently with the material, to find ways of teaching that suit different learning styles that are perhaps neglected in the classroom.

Personal Description:
I am currently completing a dissertation for a Master's Degree at the University of Oxford.

I have achieved a First Class degree in English from Goldsmiths, University of London, graduating with the highest degree mark.

In two years time I will be applying for a PhD in English Literature. In the meantime I am writing a conference paper and working on some journal articles but really I see tutoring as a full time job, one that I am very committed to.

Teaching Experience:

Aside from tutoring, I have helped to run a large children's book department in a branch of Waterstones. In this role I designed and implemented fun and engaging reading events, giving me skills in keeping children focused over extended periods of time.

As a Student Advisor at Goldsmiths, University of London, I constructed and ran academic writing workshops for first year English BA students. My sessions focused on how to shape essays in accordance with the mark scheme. I also offered one-to-one sessions based on individual student needs.

I am currently tutoring several students for their Entrance Examinations. I am living and working closely with a relative who has 18 years tutoring experience, also specialising in English. Between us we have amassed a wealth of resources; I have the materials, test papers and lesson plans in order to offer appropriate and directed tutoring.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer a comfortable atmosphere, allowing students to grow in confidence. My sessions are tailored to each student's needs; offering a different learning experience from the classroom, while always remaining focused on the requirements of the exam board.

Typically I will spend the first session ascertaining the student's strengths and weaknesses, based upon informal assessments and a discussion with them. I then go on to construct lesson plans specifically in accordance with their requirements. This flexible, tailored approach allows for quick progress.

I always come to sessions with a high level of preparation; I find that this allows the student to feel that they are being invested in and that they are part of a working team.
