Personal Description:
I am a teacher of exceptional qualifications and experience, acquired in both Bulgaria and the UK. My 5-year MA degree (English Philology, comprising of English and American Studies, Applied Linguistics and Theory and Practice of Translation, Grade 2:1) has provided me with a thorough and solid theoretical basis in all aspects of English. It includes a teaching qualification up to Level 7/8, validated as a full UK QTS by the GTC for England. I have also completed a second degree (with 1st class Hon.) and obtained a Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults.

My theological degree and the Certificate in Counselling, have equipped me with deeper understanding of my students as whole human beings.

I have an excellent command in English, Bulgarian and Russian, and use French at a pre-intermediate level. I have completed other training courses as relevant for my teaching skills.

I am qualified and experienced to teach pupils from primary school to university (post-graduate) level as following:

- primary school: English, Maths, basic literacy and numeracy skills
- secondary school: English language, English literature, Maths (year 7 and 8), GCSE English Language and Literature
- A-level English Language and Literature
- ESOL - all levels
- Citizenship - Life in the UK test
- IELTS - all levels
- English for Academic Purposes (academic writing skills, essays, reports, dissertations, projects) - undergraduates and post-graduates
- proofreading of academic assignments (essays, reports, dissertations, projects) - undergraduates and post-graduates
- help with writing academic assignments (essays, reports, dissertations, projects) - undergraduates and post-graduates
- Bulgarian language - all levels

Teaching Experience:

I have been employed as an EAP, Business, IELTS, ESOL and English Language and Literature teacher and have worked at universities, colleges and schools across two countries. My experience in teaching and translation has expanded my vocabulary and understanding of the principles in Business, Marketing and Management, Economics, Accounting and Finance. My experience teaching at four universities, and supporting children in schools and adults has helped me become an exceptionally versatile teacher.

While tutoring all my primary school pupils achieved their individual targets (whether improving basic literacy skills, or advancing in their level of reading or writing).

My GCSE and A-level English pupils achieved 100% A-grades in their exams (both English language and literature).

I have tutored successfully for the Citizenship/Life in the UK test. I have the latest information of the test changes (from 2014). All my tutees have passed the Life in the UK test.

With university students I have expertise teaching the following academic skills:

structuring academic essays, implementing skills of cohesion and coherence and using the appropriate subject-related style
paraphrasing and summarising texts and applying correct grammar and suitable register in writing
using quotations and in-text citations and referencing them accordingly
producing accurate and cohesive reports in the appropriate style and format
developing reading strategies for academic materials
developing critical thinking skills through discussions and seminars and applying them in academic writing
critically evaluating sources of data
preparing a subject-related project/feasibility report using a range of data sources
delivering a presentation on a subject-specific topic, using Microsoft Powerpoint for effect
demonstrating understanding of key concepts and inferring the meaning of unfamiliar words from the context
developing speaking and seminar skills, useful for active participation in discussions and debates in the classroom and outside
demonstrating the ability to carry out case study analysis
interpreting numerical, statistical and financial data orally and in writing
deploying the necessary library- and word-processing skills to fulfil set tasks
demonstrating a clear understanding of what constitutes plagiarism and how to use the Harvard Referencing system for citation and the production of Reference Lists

At an academic skills pre-sessional course at the University of Birmingham in 2014 I gained even deeper experience supporting individual students with writing within very constrained time-limits. I guided all to success at their final assessments. I had some very positive feedback and comments of appreciation.

I have taught in various set-ups - whole class, pair work, group work, or one-to-one sessions. I am deeply interested in each student's individual learning needs and progress and one of my major strengths is differentiation. I sometimes prepare material at 4 levels of differentiation for a single class or small group. I use supportive strategies to boost students' confidence, at the same time challenging learners to achieve beyond their own expectations. I approach intense 1-to-1 sessions with the appropriate dynamics.

I am prepared to go beyond my 'job description' duties to help students with 'special needs'. I am interested in their individual circumstances and take them into account, where appropriate. I prepare resources to address their personal needs and interests. I review their progress and involve them in self-assessment towards autonomy of learning. I am familiar with the 'Assessment for Learning' policy and competent with implementing it widely.

I have worked successfully with students with dyslexia. At secondary school, one of my 'high-ability' dyslexic students scored an 'A' grade at her English GCSE, while another participated in a poetry competition. I have had success teaching students with autism and Asperger's as well.

I invest all of myself in my teaching. I am a highly trusted professional and have an exceptional rapport with my students. I am often quoted as a preferred tutor, who 'has the best way of explaining things' and 'is very patient, friendly and cheerful'. All students of mine - regardless whether at school, college or university - progressed by at least one level (even at short-term courses). A student with a debilitating illness on the BME, predicted to fail the course, not only passed it under my guidance, but achieved grades higher than his required level. In my 15-year teaching career I have never failed a student. I have achieved outstanding results at OFSTED observations. My latest annual lesson observation at BMETC was graded 'OUTSTANDING' and so was my performance at NAVITAS earlier this year. Another observation at BCU was unofficially deemed as 'the best on the course'. I have been invited to share exceptional ideas at training events and have also participated in numerous training activities at schools, colleges and universities. I often opt to peer-observe colleagues, to learn from their teaching styles.

Some more examples from my practice: a class of illiterate Yemeni housewives at BMETC, 2011, achieved a 100% pass at their ESOL exams, while 'advanced' international students at the BME, 2012 achieved some of the highest grades on the course. I have been successful dealing with pupils with behavioural problems at Harborne Hill School. Many reported an increasingly positive attitude to learning.

Creativity is another of my specific 'gifts'. Students appreciate the varied activities I offer - discovery, peer-teaching, role play, group projects, group presentations, 'speaking corner' competitions, debates, often creating my own materials for them. According to students' needs, I use the T-T-T or P-P-P approach, the first one being my personal preference, as it allows a wider scope for creativity. Communication takes place all through the lesson, in possibly, multi-cultural groups, as I believe these skills would be beneficial for life. I make use of all resources available, with ILT used in every lesson. I rely heavily on using the VLE and widely implement e-learning. In lessons I have used Iphones and Ipads, to help visual and auditory learners. For kinaesthetic learners I have other activities, which have proven popular. It is my observation that despite the varied learning styles, all students benefit from 'doing', so kinaesthetically-based lessons seem to be remembered the longest.

Having learned English as a second language, I can identify with problems of international students and am always ready to listen to them and offer help. The same is valid for home students, as I have knowledge and experience of life in this country. Working with external agencies and liaising with services and voluntary organisations has provided me with the necessary experience.

Tutoring Approach:

First I negotiate the times and modes of tutoring with the parents of my potential pupil and agree on fees.
Then I organise a free initial meeting with the pupil and their parents, where I try to establish raport with the pupil. It is important, especially for children, to 'get a feel' of the new tutor and see if they can feel comfortable with her.
Then I try to access as much information as possible from the parents and the child about their progress at school and their attitude to school. If possible, I wish to see samples of the child's school work, or hear anything teachers have said/written about their progress.
During the first lesson I conduct an informal assessment of the pupil's skills - give them a piece of text to read, or free writing or short composition, or a couple of Maths problems to solve. When I get a clear picture of where my pupil stands with a certain skill, I create a short-term plan for work with them. I normally bring materials with me and do not ask parents to buy additional materials. If the parent wishes me to follow a certain help-book, I am happy to oblige.
I update parents regularly of their child's progress - I try to do it after every lesson. I normally leave homework, designed to consolidate the material covered in the lesson, or develop their skills further. I wish parents to be involved as much as possible with helping or monitoring the completion of the homework.
I try to show my pupils as much respect as possible and affirm them as individuals. I acknowledge their birthdays, Christmas, or other family celebrations.
The parents can terminate the service at any time, with only one week notice.

Personal Description:
I am BA (Hon) graduate and Professional Freelance Translator, Interpreter and Private Tutor.
I am married with a 15-year old son.

Teaching Experience:

Following my degree, I returned to Spain to teach English for a year.
During the past three years I have taught French and Spanish on a one-to-one basis.

Tutoring Approach:

Based very much on what the learner wants to cover. Once we have agreed the initial starting point, I would advise that they purchase a suitable language course book with CD/DVD so that they will be able to consolidate what they learn in the relaxed but structured lesson with me, and also continue to listen, and speak in the chosen target language between lessons.
Although the lessons with me will be structured, I will go at the learners' own pace and ability, consolidating as we go along, and introducing fun exercises and games by way of revision, and also give constructive advice about what other resources can assist them.

Personal Description:
I am a parent and therefore understand the value of ensuring that children get the very best of education especially when they are still young. I have also had professional experience in two sectors of an economy (Automobile Marketing and Banking) and currently enrolled full time for an MBA. My experiences will therefore be quite useful to my business related students. My hobbies include watching and playing football, music, reading novels and watching movies.

Teaching Experience:

I had taught for over 5 years before taking full time professional employment. I presently give tutorials to colleagues who are having a hard time keeping up with the MBA programme.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is simple. I start by gaining the trust of my student through series of informal talks before the day's session as this helps the student to see me as a friend in whom he/she can trust. One trust is established, the student is confident to relate the areas he/she is having a challenge and we can take it up from there.

Personal Description:
I am currently studying the International Baccalaureate at Impington sixth form. I enjoy teaching and working with children. I have experience with working with young people and have run and lead several youth club sessions. I have level 2 British Sign Language and am passionate about working with hearing impaired children. I am looking to be a teacher and hope this will give me a taster.

Teaching Experience:

As I am only 17 I have limited teaching opportunities, however my experience is wide for someone of my age. I have gained my youth work award and have lead several youth club sessions in Cottenham and have also got a sports leadership qualification. I regularly assist my mum with her riding school and often take out children on rides individually. I frequently help my younger cousins with homework and I also babysit. I have gained my Duke of Edinburgh award during which I volunteered at the local Rainbows. During my work experience I spent two weeks working with primary school hearing and deaf students.

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer working one to one with children so that they have my full attention to enable them to reap the benefits of the teaching sessions. I believe in a collaborative approach so that the children are able to discuss ideas rather than regard learning as a chore. I like to enable learning through fun to bring out their passion in learning and give them the best chance to exceed expectation.

Personal Description:
I am a third year medical student at Imperial College London. Having just graduated from secondary school I feel that I am an ideal candidate to help ease the challenges of school subjects for students.

During my school career I achieved 8 A* and 4 A's. Furthermore I achieved 1 A* and 3 A's during my A levels, additionally I also achieved another A at As level in Further Maths. My AS physics grade was the best in my year achieving. 296/300 UMS. I have participated in the UK maths challenge achieving the bronze and silver award.

Teaching Experience:

I helped teach many students from younger years in a range of subjects and enjoyed watching them progress and improve. I think the fact that having just been through what most of these students are going through gives me a slight advantage due to my knowledge being recent and up to date. I also have experience in teaching A-level Maths as well as GCSE Maths.

Tutoring Approach:

I am patient and calm in my approach and try to ensure that each of my students understands the concepts of what I am teaching. I appreciate that each student is different and the approach taken to each of them must remain flexible.

Personal Description:
I am a final year undergraduate student studying for an Bsc in Geophysics at Imperial College London. Alongside my studies I am also involved with charity work, play the violin in one of my university's orchestras and enjoy a variety of different types of sport. I would like to think I am friendly and approachable, and highly motivated to achieve in everything I do.

Teaching Experience:

I have 2 years of tutoring experience, especially with both maths and physics GCSE. Aside from private tutoring I volunteered for a tutoring scheme run by my university called 'Team Up', which will gave me invaluable experience and practice at tutoring Year 8 students in KS3 Science. For part of this I attended a short course run by Teach First on how to become a better tutor and have had a CRB check performed.

In past years I have also volunteered for a local Geological Trust, which involved in taking part in 'Geological Road shows' and trying to engage children with geology using activities, workshops, games etc. I have also completed a weeks work experience in a local Primary School, where I shadowed a Year 4 teacher and took charge of small groups in need of extra support.

I have also been an active member in Girl Guiding for numerous years, and have taken many leadership roles. These include being a young leader at a local brownie and rainbow group (aged mainly between 5-10 years old) for the last two years; and although out of a formal teaching environment, it was a role of responsibility and has given me more experience engaging with young children.

In my secondary school I also took part in a weekly music mentoring workshop for several years to help teach younger students how to play string instruments, mainly the violin. Though hard work I found this thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding; especially when some of my students went on to attend paid lessons and take graded examinations.

Tutoring Approach:

I always aim to engage with my students and attempt to make learning as interesting and stimulating as possible. I also believe that recapping previously covered material through short sessions each week can help the student to retain and recall information more easily - and make pre-exam revision less daunting.

As I have only recently completed my A-Levels I feel that I am in a very good position to help students within the education system, as I have first-hand experience. I believe good exam technique can be hugely beneficial to students sitting national qualifications, and I would be able to pass on my experience in dealing with examinations to your child. Organisation is also an important skill, not only whilst at school but for future life, and I would again hope to pass on this attribute to your son or daughter; helping them learn to plan their study time and revision.

Motivation is probably the most important factor that educators can target in order to
improve learning. Student motivation is an essential element that is necessary for quality education and as far as I can, I try to adapt the lessons approach according students needs and target to be reached.
