Personal Description:
I am used to teaching students of all ages. I have a first degree in History and English and a masters in Art History. I have been teaching successfully in London for the past 14 years and can honestly say that I have never had a student fail, whether it be for an entrance exam or GCSE, 'A' level or even at University helping with a final dissertation. I enjoy tutoring on a one to one basis and am passionate about my chosen subjects.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught at further education colleges in and around London as well as private schools mainly in English and History for G.C.S.E. and 'A' Level students. I am also an Associate Lecturer for the Open University in the Humanities. My main strengths are in private tutoring in which I have been engaged for the past 14 years around London and more recently in Norfolk.

Tutoring Approach:

In the case of coursework for GCSE or 'A' level I am happy to have students email their work for me to check over and then have a lesson in person. With regard to working towards examinations, I prefer to use the question papers as the basis for learning as generally each exam board has a preference for the way in which questions are answered especially in the subjects I teach. English and History especially are open to interpretation I believe the need to read around the subject and offer a wider knowledge than is generally taught at schools or colleges is vital. Regular tuition is therefore preferable, so that all problems can be addressed.

Personal Description:
I am a professional actor and graduate from the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, and have been working in the private tuition industry for over seven years for various agencies, most prominently The Tutors Group. Before drama school I worked as a Primary School teaching assistant and drama teacher for two years, after graduating from King's College London with a 2:1 in my BA (Hons) English Literature & Language degree. I went straight to university from Norwich High School for Girls in Norfolk. So I have travelled all the way across England in my pursuit of study! I always wanted to tutor because I knew how I worked for all my GCSEs, A-Levels and my BA, and I was fed up with the media claiming exams were getting easier for kids: teenagers today work super hard, as I did! Tutoring older students also provided a lovely contrast to my Primary School teaching. I am also on the Directory certified teachers for LAMDA examinations.

Teaching Experience:

Dog Kennel Hill Primary School
Teaching Assistant and Special Needs Support
Oct 2008 - Present

During the morning session, I am currently working in a Year One class in this south London school and thriving on aiding the children specifically with their literacy, reading and speaking skills as well as exploring numeracy work.
I lead certain lessons including story time and circle time.
I support key groups of children within the class and am able to use my initiative to plan, deliver and assess their learning in order to encourage progression.
I have vast experience in creating my own resources using ICT, and creating artistic displays to proudly exhibit the children's work.
I have taken courses in Early Literacy Support, encouraging creative and inclusive teaching especially for children with English as an additional language and complex special needs children. I also have training in "Letters and Sounds" Phonics, and "A First Workshop on Autism".
During the afternoon session, I support a child in Year Two with Autism. I plan and prepare all his lessons, working towards targets which I and the class teacher have set for him; these include phonics, counting and social skills. I use music as a reward system for the boy, and his singing has greatly improved his speech quality and communication skills.
I have extensive training in Autistic Spectrum Conditions, undertaken with Southwark, covering various aspects including history, sensory integration and behavioural management.
I work with various children with complex special needs within school, including children with Autism, Cerebral Palsy and Galactosemia, and have worked closely with speech and language therapists and learning mentors.
I offer one to one support outside of lesson time in the form of music lessons for special needs children; I prepare and provide my own resources and find singing with my students extremely rewarding.
I am in the process of setting up an after-school drama club for Key Stage One students at the school, having directed the infant school Christmas play this and last year.
I have also spent time in Key Stage Two classrooms, focussing on aiding older children with their literacy skills: I particularly enjoyed aiding Year Six students in exploring literary themes and using appropriate critical vocabulary when studying children's literature.

Stage Coach Theatre Arts
Early Years and Drama Teacher
Jan 2009 - Present
I am currently working in the Beckenham Junction branch of Stage Coach: using games and prepared resources, I teach my Early Stages children elementary levels of dance, drama and singing, allowing them to develop their confidence levels both on and off the stage. I have written and directed several productions for the children to perform over the year, showcasing their talents to their proud parents.
Since September I have taken on the role of drama teacher for the elder children aged six to sixteen. Through games, improvisation and text work, my students are encouraged to enjoy and improve their passion and talent for theatre in an open and safe environment.

The Tutors Group
Private Tutor
Sep 2008 - Present
In contrast to my primary school teaching experience, my private tutoring allows me to help young people of an older age and greater intellectual development further their learning.
I teach English Literature and Language, History, Theatre Studies and Classical Studies, from Primary, to GCSE and A-Level, Degree level and beyond.
I aid my students in improving their essay structure, spelling and grammar and discussing key thematic and conceptual elements of their required texts.
I plan and prepare lessons and constantly assess students, ensuring they receive high quality tutorage.

Classroom Teachers
Teaching Assistant
Sep 2008 - Oct 2008
I received thoroughly positive feedback from the schools in which I temporarily taught in the weeks preceding my permanent employment at Dog Kennel Hill; colleagues reported me as reliable, enthusiastic and hard-working, and possessing excellent interaction skills with the children themselves.
I gained vast experience with nursery and reception children, thriving on working with early years.

Tutoring Approach:

I have worked as a private tutor for various agencies and also independently, leading my students through 11 plus, 13 plus, GCSE, A Level, Degree level and beyond. I teach English Literature & Language, Drama & Theatre Studies, History and Classics. I also have plenty of experience in working with much younger students (see my CV for details of my classroom and teaching assistant experience) with English as an additional language. I am a confident and enthusiastic individual, with an acute passion for teaching, and have been working with the Tutors Group for over 7 years now. I have worked as a teaching assistant in an Outstanding inner-city primary school, and before training at drama school was planning to take a post-graduate course in primary school teaching, a desire much encouraged by my class teacher and head of school. I have just graduated from my MA in acting at one of the most prolific drama schools in the country (Bristol Old Vic Theatre School); as an experienced dramatic performer and director, I enjoy effectively using these skills to aid children in their learning, leading to a warm, encouraging and happy learning atmosphere. I rapidly and easily create positive, personal relationships with colleagues and children, and believe education should be a creative and inclusive experience for all.

Tutoring Approach:

As a tutor, I consider it essential to engage the learner by way of providing for a versatile experience. It is crucial to stimulate the learning process by providing several forms of feedback. This takes the form of oral and speaking as well as listening skills feedback during lessons, whilst focusing more on written skills for homework. Reading can be done in either setting, however it is important that both the tutor and learner participate in the process. This approach gives a fairly structured approach to tutoring.

Personal Description:
I am a well published Stem Cell Scientist at Imperial College London, currently working on regenerative medicine-based solutions for Osteoarthritis. I have over 10 years of experience in the field of biomedical research, biology and chemistry teaching and scientific writing. I have been fascinated with the way human mind works and learn - having tried several teaching techniques with my students here at Imperial College, I am confident that students under my guidance and their hard work usually stay within top 5% of the class.

Teaching Experience:

I have had a number of MSc and MRes students in the past and have had primary, secondary, GCSE and A-level, and college teaching experience in the past. Currently I am supervising a number of GCSEs, A-levels, undergraduates and masters students and lab-based research projects / theses.

Tutoring Approach:

Every student has his / her positives and negatives - I first analyse them and then slowly work on their negative points (with a good push to their confidence levels). Additionally, I believe for understanding any science subject (biology, chemistry or physics), learning fundamentals is extremely important for students to further understand complexity of life (more important if they choose to do biology / biomedical science / medicine / life science). So, my approach has always been understanding things more analytically.

Personal Description:
After teaching in South Korea for four years I have taught all ages and all abilities. I think that everyone is different so when teaching a student their strengths and weaknesses should be discovered before being worked on.

I am currently finishing up working in Saudi Arabia before moving back to England full time.

I have an MA in Applied Linguistics and TESOL and am working on another in ELT (English Language Teaching).

Teaching Experience:

* I have four years teaching experience in South Korea where I thought all ages from 2 years to adult. I have some experience teaching private classes, small groups as well as large classes. I have taught in camps and in classrooms. I am an all round teacher and want to keep learning more skills.
* I have taught online to Taiwanese students.
* I am finishing 1 1/2 years in Saudi Arabia, teaching in a university and a technical college.
* Teaching South East Asian students privately for short periods of time.

Tutoring Approach:

I will take a session getting to know you and what you want out of our sessions and your current level. From there we will get straight down to learning. I think a friendly yet hardworking approach is best, with a little homework so that you can keep practicing your English at home. I am very interested in teaching English so if you have any questions I would love to answer them!

I am comfortable teaching up to GCSE level.

Teaching Experience:

I like to work with students to find out their individual learning styles and adapt my teaching style to suit. I prefer it to feel more like teamwork than tuition as we work together to understand principles. To ensure that these principles are understood, worked examples are discussed.

I have 10 years experience of teaching and tutoring at all levels up to university (lecturer for 5 years) and have all 5 star feedback. My tutees get great results (93% As and A*s this year) and most importantly, show outstanding improvements in both understanding and confidence.

I am really passionate about science and teaching: during my academic career, I have been fortunate enough to have plenty of opportunities to combine the two at a variety of levels. I come from a very large family and have been involved in work with children from a young age - from riding instructor to homework 'buddy' and in the last 10 years tutoring and teaching. I love the moment that you see the light of understanding come on in the person that you are working with - I got into science for these moments myself and to be honest, it's almost as rewarding to see them in someone else! It is particularly exciting when you see someone go from frustration to 'getting it'.

I'm extremely patient, calm and focused. I work best with individuals or small groups of 2-3 students.

Teaching Experience:

All exam boards plus IB
GSCE: This year's students achieved cracking results in biology, chemistry, maths, physics and geography. Almost all As and A*s - I was very proud of them!
A-level:
Again, almost all As in biology and chemistry. Most came to me with predicted Ds so we were all delighted with the results.
Primary level:
My own children were partially home-schooled so I have copious experience there!
11-14:
I currently tutor in maths and science, I used to run a weekend biology group for adolescents and have taught English as a secondary language at this level
University level:
Range of subjects including biology, biochemistry, nutrition, aquaculture, fisheries economics, thermodynamic engineering

Tutoring Approach:

The foundation of my approach is to building confidence and enthusiasm in my pupils. I use a combination of exam questions and structured sessions. This allows the student to become familiar and comfortable with the format of questions, and to more easily identify what the examiner is asking. It also allows me to focus the effort on where there are gaps in the knowledge or understanding.
I am extremely patient & able to come up with new and innovative ways to help my students overcome whatever problems they experience in the subjects I teach. I like to see the students put in some effort because I think the best results are achieved that way but I am always supportive.

Personal Description:
I am passionate about helping people and inspiring them, and I really enjoy meeting people from all over the world and helping them to improve their English and gain confidence. I am friendly and approachable, and have a calm and patient teaching manner. I strive for personal integrity and professionalism.

I really enjoy learning languages myself - I speak French and Spanish and I am keen to learn more languages. I love travelling and have visited many countries. I lived in South America for a short time. I really like learning about different cultures and people!

English is my native language.

Teaching Experience:

I have 12 years experience of teaching English. I have taught in London, New Zealand and Argentina. I have taught general English and business English, and the exams I have taught are IELTS and CAE.

I taught a student in Japan on Skype for two years, so I have a lot of experience teaching online.

I love teaching beginners - if you are a beginner or if you have a friend or family member who is a beginner then please contact me!

Most of my students have been pre-intermediate to intermediate level, but I have taught all levels from beginners to advanced.

Tutoring Approach:

First of all I will find out from you in a free consultation exactly what you want help with and what your goals are for studying English with me. Then I will plan our lessons according to your English needs. Usually in a normal lesson we will have conversation and speaking practise and I will give you plenty of opportunity to speak and practise your English, then I will give you feedback and go through your mistakes with you. I will also teach you new vocabulary and then we will practise this in speaking activities. However, if you are really confident in speaking English and want to practise other skills such as reading then we will do this instead. Usually I teach lessons that incorporate speaking, vocabulary, pronunciation, reading and grammar. I think homework is very important so I will also set you homework to do in your own time.

Writing: if you would like me to correct your writing (for example you send it to me, I mark it and send it back), my fee for this is 14 per hour, plus Paypal fees.
