I have been a personal tutor for over six years, building up a rapport with each individual and their family to ensure best results. My tutoring experience spans from children aged 4 years to adults aged 44 years, with varying degrees of motivation, interest and abilities. I have tutored 16 pupils to date, with differing levels of intensity; some required 2 hours a week for the 10 weeks prior to their exam, while others required an hour a week over 3 years to boost their knowledge and confidence.

Due to my high interest in supporting others, I chose a career path as a Speech and Language Therapist, and I qualified in this esteemed profession 5 years ago. On a daily basis I work with children from pre-school age right up to young adults, in a range of settings from special needs schools and mainstream schools, to community clinics and home visits. I am highly passionate about helping all I support to work together to reach their potential.

I am a genuinely caring and generous person and I am more than capable of sharing my passion for learning to anyone I work with, including those with additional needs.

Teaching Experience:

Through my job as a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist I work with children of all cognitive abilities on a one-to-one level to improve their communication and language skills. The work I do coincides with the National Curriculum and the Early Years Foundation Stage, and I work with parents and teachers to set individualised targets, which is similar to the tutoring world.

Prior to commencing this career path, I worked as a special needs assistant at a primary school. On a daily basis I was required to give additional support on a one-to-one basis to children who struggled in the (often) large classroom, by working through the literacy or numeracy curriculum at their own pace. I was also relied upon to support in assigned classrooms through supervising children while working on a task, or taking groups of children for reading. Working in a school ensured that I keep current my knowledge of Educational and National Curriculum issues.

From June-August 2011, I travelled to Pennsylvania, USA, to work as a Speech and Language Therapist at a summer camp for children with special needs (age range 7-20). I was recommended for this job due to my extensive experience and my friendly positive nature. The experience of living and working with children and teens with individual needs and accompanying challenging behaviours highlighted the importance of taking a flexible holistic approach when assessing skills, implementing support and evaluating improvements.

In June 2009, I participated in the Student Associate Scheme organised by the University of Manchester. This involved intensive teacher training and then carrying out a block placement of three weeks within two schools teaching and assisting in core subjects e.g. Mathematics and English. I worked with two children in particular who struggled in these subjects and I helped improve their numeracy and literacy skills by adapting their learning technique to suit their individual needs.

Tutoring Approach:

For over six years I have tutored various subjects in three areas of the UK, including two major cities. I have assisted students of varying ages, abilities and additional needs including Dyslexia, Autism and Specific Language Impairment - from early years pupils to mature students. I find that tutees benefit from the one-to-one focus they are given, and the individualised plans we work from enforces enhancement of their current knowledge in their chosen subject areas.

I always ensure a person-centred approach is achieved when tutoring. Each tutee learns through different techniques and at different speeds so I develop my tutoring level and scope to suit the individuals needs. I tutored three children for 2013's 'Transfer Test' (Northern Ireland's Grammar School intake assessment) and the results confirmed that this approach is effective, as all sitting the demanding test passed with flying colours, with two getting into Northern Ireland's top Grammar School.

I am an LSE graduate in BSc Accounting and Finance and have also obtained postgraduate qualifications in Statistics, I am currently a dedicated and passionate full-time tutor, I am passionate about my subjects and dedicated to seeing students do well.

I was privileged enough to be afforded a very good private education and originally decided to take on tutoring as an opportunity to share my knowledge with others and allow them to realise their full potential and all the other benefits of a good education.

Five main factors have contributed to my success so far namely,
- I have high expectations of myself and my students, I believe every student can achieve the best grades with the right help

- I instil confidence and a "can do" attitude in students, regularly reminding them that nothing is "hard" if you have been shown how to do it properly

- I listen to students, this keeps lessons interactive and ensures I have constant update on their thought process and current understanding

- I am relatively young so students feel comfortable engaging with me and enjoy learning from me

- I ensure continuous support for students, I make myself available for questions via phone or e-mail throughout the day to ensure the support does not end at the end of the lesson!

I have been a Mathematics and Economics tutor for 4 years in this time my reliability and skill has enabled me to develop a good reputation which has allowed me to have a consistent base of 12 - 16 students on a weekly basis.

Career Highlights!

- Academic Year 2011 - 2012 I helped a student who was predicted a C grade at GCSE to achieve a coveted place at Eltham College after passing a difficult 16+ exam

- Academic year 2012 - 2013 I helped a student who scored a D grade at AS Economics achieve an A grade at A2 level after 8 months of tuition. He was the only student to score an A grade in his school since 2007.

- Academic Year 2013 - 2014 I helped a student who scored a C grade at AS Economics achieve an A grade at A2 Economics with an impressive 97% in Unit 1, 99% in Unit 2 and 100% in Unit 3. He had also had three previous tutors who he was dissatisfied with before coming to me.

Further Teaching Experience

At degree level I have taught Macro and Micro Economics to students attending Russell Group Universities, this year I helped an international student from Ukraine achieve over 70% in both Macro and Micro Economics.

I have taught A-Level Economics across Edexcel, AQA and OCR syllabuses with equal success. I have never had a student score below a B grade and have had several students score over 90% in modules.

I have taught Mathematics at A-Level, GCSE, 16+ and 11+ common entrance levels and covered AQA, Edexcel and iGCSE exam boards. I have helped students gain coveted places at top independent schools such as Eltham College and Bromley High. I have also helped students improve from as low as C grades at GCSE to A grades, however my most notable success this year came when I helped an AS Maths student who scored a D grade in January achieve a B grade in May with an impressive 84% in C1.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching approach embodies a long term approach to learning I teach students in a way which will allow them to be successful in higher study as well as their more short term exams. I also try to make students more confident in their abilities overall not just the material I teach.

I strongly believe that a solid understanding of basic principles is the foundation to success in academic study. I concentrate a lot of time and energy on instilling these basic principles in students.

I am also a strong believer in understanding over 'rope learning' I ensure that pupils understand what they are doing and why they are doing it, never encouraging them to simply regurgitate what they have seen previously.

I also encourage practical understanding of concepts frequently referencing real world examples and using objects to illustrate theory as I recognise that theory on its own given no relevance is harder to remember. Supplementary to this I also relate teaching material to potential job roles and tasks which I have knowledge of (mostly Banking or Business related) in order communicate usefulness to students and keep things interesting.

Finally I believe teaching successfully is ultimately about listening to your students I constantly encourage students to question things and express anything they don't understand or are not too sure of. If a student looks unsure or hesitant about something I will ask open questions or get them to explain concepts to me in order to fully grasp their understanding. This also helps build their confidence and ability to express themselves accurately.

Upon leaving the Royal Air Force after an eleven year long career serving as an engineer both at home and overseas, I followed a busy career in Hospitality Management. A chance reading of the local press pointed me in the direction of university. After completing a degree in English, I embarked on a career in teaching - a vocation which took me to the Middle East. Travel is a passion, a result of which was my becoming a published author (2011).

Teaching Experience:

Taught in primary and secondary schools for 34 years. Over 20 years experience as a deputy headteacher. Have taught the full age range of primary school but mostly KS2 (age 7-11). My main role over the last 15 years has been a Year 6 SATS teacher so I have lots of experience for SATS preparation. I also did a lot of work in booster groups in Maths and English, moving children from level 3 to level 4. I have now been tutoring for a year with children aged between 7 and 14. For the last 3 years I have been a Key Stage 2 SATs marker.

Tutoring Approach:

My main aim is to improve the ability of the children in the subjects chosen. Most of my tutees find the one-to-one personal touch invaluable because it allows me to quickly identify the areas of difficulty and devise a learning programme to meet these at a pace which the tutee finds comfortable. Many of the parents have commented that one-to-one sessions have rapidly improved the tutee's confidence and has frequently resulted in them being moved up groups in the classroom. 2) Strong academic record:

Zoology Bsc: First-Class Honours

3) Support Worker in a therapeutic residential care home for 11-18 year olds with emotional and behavioural difficulties for 1 year. I learned how to de-escalate and safeguard young people in crisis and manage challenging behaviours.

4) Team Leader at Action for Children. Organising and running activities for young people with learning disabilities, such as swimming and youth clubs.

5) I work hard to help people reach their full potential and believe in their own abilities.

About yourself:

Through my achievements I have become a lively, confident young man with a desire to push forward in life. I think having a good life balance is crucial to success, so I find time to exercise, work hard and socialise, with all three factors complimenting and improving the others. Study, work and travel have made me aware of my own capabilities, and that I will only get out of life what I put in.

I have travelled to Borneo, Peru, USA, India, Italy, Kenya, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Spain, Honduras, Egypt, Tunisia and Greece. Travelling has developed my ability to communicate confidently with new people, from a range of ages, cultures and backgrounds. I am a passionate explorer of places, ideas and experiences in different cultures.

Working for a precision engineering firm and going on a business trip to a semi-conductor exhibition in Taiwan has taught me to be punctual and professional. Working with young people, engineering, travelling, business trips and coaching football show I am not afraid of responsibility.

I have taken part in a range of extracurricular activities, from rock climbing and American Football to international development as President of the Student's for Esteli Society at University. I have learned to manage my time efficiently.

I find understanding an idea myself, and then helping others to understand that idea, very satisfying. Helping someone to reach their full potential is rewarding for myself and the tutee. My passion for biology, maths and teaching means I can ensure lessons are animated.

Teaching Experience:

I have a consistently strong academic record which can only be acquired through understanding how to excel in examinations and I have confidence in my tutoring ability. The young people I tutored included those with learning and mental health difficulties. All tutees achieved their grade targets. My third passed despite not sitting his GCSE exams in the past due to having a breakdown.

I have a year's experience working with young people with behavioural and emotional difficulties and learning disabilities. As a support worker in a therapeutic residential care home a personal strength was building a rapport with young people and undertaking therapeutic key work sessions, teaching them to manage their emotions and make positive decisions. As a team leader at Action for Children I am learning to communicate with young people with learning disabilities in new ways, especially when they are non-verbal, and pay more attention to body language and signing.

Tutoring Approach:

If you're interested in hiring me as a tutor, I am happy to meet with you first so you can determine whether I am the right person for the job. Together we can then determine what specific areas the prospective tutee needs assistance in. Once target areas have been established, I will use the syllabus, reference texts, past papers and a range of resources to apply my own knowledge and skills to improve the tutee's grades.

I understand that different people learn in different ways, and will use the technique that works best for the tutee. The teaching approach can be personalised for specific individuals, a major advantage of one to one tutoring. The atmosphere will be relaxed so the tutee feels comfortable and we can make the best use of our time. Although a relaxed atmospere, teaching will be structured and interactive. I hope to give the tutee confidence in themselves and their abilities.

I can provide further advise on revision and exam techniques, as well as ensuring the tutee has sufficient knowledge for exams. I can broaden the tutee's learning experience beyond that in schools with respect to biology if desired. Let me introduce myself. I'm Anna, I'm Italian, and I'm the teacher you are looking for!

I am passionate about teaching Classical Studies (Latin and Ancient Greek), as well as Italian; I have extensive teaching experience with beginning to advanced students of all ages. I hold a Bachelor and a Master's degree in Classical Studies from the University of Palermo (Italy).

Teaching Experience:

I have 8 years of experience in teaching grammar and literature (Italian, Ancient Greek and Latin), to individual students, and to small groups of students in private and public schools.

I've also worked as a City Lit Latin Tutor: teaching Latin Grammar rules, ligatures, word divisions and accents. Reading correctly any kind of Roman inscription, discerning the subject of the inscription (public, commemorative, religious, etc.). Assessment, marking, report writing and translation from Latin to English.

More specifically, I have experience in teaching students at a wide range of levels including GCSE, A-Level, and University, as well as preparing students for university entrance examinations. Furthermore, I enjoy working with children (6-13 years olds).

Tutoring Approach:

The study of the ancient world, especially the languages and cultures of Greece and Rome is a tremendous opportunity for students to expand their minds.

Personal Description:
I am a year 13 pupil at Sutton Grammar Sixth Form, a very highly ranked secondary school in South London. I take Maths, Further Maths, and Physics at A-level. I have great communication skills and I am told that I am good at explaining complicated ideas simply. As a sixth former, I do interact with GCSE students, a few years younger than myself, every day at school.
Lastly, because I have been through the GCSE system so recently, I have a great understanding of what is required for top grades.

Teaching Experience:

I have had experience in tutoring my cousin in KS3 maths before, during which I became a better tutor and better understood how to help others achieve.
In July 2012, I completed a two week placement at a primary school which I found to be a rewarding and I acquired a wealth of experience in teaching. I worked with children right from reception, to much older children in year six, helping them to understand things that would help them in secondary school. In that two weeks, I learnt to meet the needs of the individual student and worked one to one with them to help them understand what they had trouble with.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is a time tested one. As a tutor for a student, I will first ask you to communicate to me the specific areas that are of concern. Then, I will go away, make a lesson plan, provide some exercises for me to work through the student with, and adapt the lesson plan as the lesson goes on to fit the needs of the student to maximise their progress per lesson.
My sister tutored myself and others in this way and I benefited from it as you can see from my GCSE grades. I will always be involved on a personal level, as one to one tuition should be, although still with an emphasis on individual work, and being able to see what my student can achieve.
