Personal Description:
I believe that learning a language can enrich your life and should be done in a fun and interesting way. My parents encouraged me to travel from a young age and I suppose I developed an 'ear' for languages through being made to ask for ice-creams and make friends with local kids! I also learned French and German at school and then went on an intensive course in Florence to learn Italian - then went on to study both German and Italian at the University of Reading. I live in Chelmsford with my husband.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience teaching German and Italian up to A level standard in comprehensive schools and as a private tutor. I have also used German working in the private sector as a media analyst.

Tutoring Approach:

My current job is 'specialist teacher for children with physical and neurological impairments', a job I love but I am missing my languages! Being able to tutor someone else would therefore also be an enjoyable experience for me. I hope that all my experiences in life and as a teacher have made me a patient and empathetic person who can work with a range of different people from any background and of any age. I can be guided by what a client is hoping to achieve but would hope to employ a range of styles, keeping a balance between the formal and informal. My favourite analogy is that learning a language is like building a house - the desire to learn is the foundation, the words are the bricks and the grammar is the cement that holds them all together in the right place! I have a current CRB certificate.

Personal Description:
I am a parent and therefore understand the value of ensuring that children get the very best of education especially when they are still young. I have also had professional experience in two sectors of an economy (Automobile Marketing and Banking) and currently enrolled full time for an MBA. My experiences will therefore be quite useful to my business related students. My hobbies include watching and playing football, music, reading novels and watching movies.

Teaching Experience:

I had taught for over 5 years before taking full time professional employment. I presently give tutorials to colleagues who are having a hard time keeping up with the MBA programme.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is simple. I start by gaining the trust of my student through series of informal talks before the day's session as this helps the student to see me as a friend in whom he/she can trust. One trust is established, the student is confident to relate the areas he/she is having a challenge and we can take it up from there.

Personal Description:
My name is Muhammad. I am ACCA qualified. I have also got a Masters degree in International Accounting. I am currently working at London College of Business Management and IT. My area of expertise in teaching are, Accounting, finance, Uk corporate and Business law and Taxation.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching since 2011 i.e. nearly 3 years now. Mostly I teach different modules of ACCA that includes Uk Taxation, Performance Management, Financial Accounting at basic and at advanced level. Recently results were announced by ACCA and I am proud to say that those students who appeared in their respective modules, they passed. Over all my result was 90%.

Tutoring Approach:

Teaching is a greart profession but if the profession is taken just for money that would be a shame. This profession is my passion. I love to teach. I use the very basic and the most important approach i.e. to work on the concept of the topic. I link the concepts of the topics to the real life and the most boring subjects turns out be most interesting.

Personal Description:
I am a 29 year old English teacher and have been in full time employment in a secondary school for seven years. I am friendly and supportive. I feel that I do a great job in making a challenging subject easy and accessible.

I am based in Glasgow City Centre and run a tutoring school for Saturday morning classes. If you wish to contact me I will provide full details of my tutoring school and if you decide to join my classes I will fully refund any cost you incur by deducting it from your first fee. (Details cannot be revealed via this profile in order to respect the guidelines of UK tutors).

Teaching Experience:

I have taught English from National 4 and 5, Intermediate and Higher, through to Advanced Higher over seven years. My Department achieves results far higher than comparator schools and well above the national average.
I am one of two managers of Saturday School.

Tutoring Approach:

I have successfully tutored Standard Grade, Intermediate and Higher pupils over the past seven years. All of the pupils have attained the best possible grades.

In order to maximise attainment, my approach to teaching English involves working through the various question types pupils can expect to see in the main exam. For Close Reading I concentrate on: Understanding, by looking at own word questions, the context question and link questions; Analysis, by looking at word choice, imagery, sentence structure, tone and language; Evaluation, by focusing on pupil response and the final question. For Critical Essay, I concentrate on teaching my students how to logically structure an essay, develop skills in learning key quotations and prepare them to write under exam conditions. The folio aspect of the course is addressed after assessing individual pupils and through vital one to one discussions which take place during designated classes and through Edmodo.

I prefer a relaxed environment and pupils whom I have tutored in the past academic years have achieved As in Higher and Intermediate English. I also offer a "Pass Promise".

Personal Description:
I am a science teacher at a Secondary school in Leicester.
I can tutor in either Loughborough or Leicester in the evenings.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified secondary school Science teacher with a history of helping students to achieve outstanding results.

Tutoring Approach:

One to one tuition can be a valuable addition to a students' in school education. By getting to know the student I aim to create a relaxed atmosphere in which the student feels confident to ask questions and improve their subject knowledge. I have an extensive knowledge of current specifications and as a current teacher keep up to date with changes to exams. As well as working to improve the students subject knowledge it is important to spend time working on exam technique and revision strategies. In doing this my students achieve excellent results.

Personal Description:
I graduated two years ago from the Courtauld Institute of Art, from where I gained a degree in Art History. Since then I have continued my research in architectural, art and historic subjects through working as a researcher at an international architecture and design consultancy firm. After a very solid foundation in art and architectural history, I now have an insight into the practical applications of such research and its importance in the commercial world.

Areas of particular interest to me include: Manuscripts, Middle-eastern art and architecture, gender studies, institutional architecture, the Victorian Period, 20th century fashion, art theory and modern architecture.

I also have A-Levels in Classical Civilisation, Biology and Chemistry, so I can offer assistance with those subjects up until GCSE level.

Teaching Experience:

I am only beginning as a tutor and therefore have limited teaching experience but I do regularly discuss and impart information to others as part of my job. My role is to share my research findings in the most efficient way possible and I have always received positive feedback relating to my presentations and reports. My seminar contribution at university was also well received.

Tutoring Approach:

I would like to help students to understand the bigger picture, in order to understand the importance of the smaller details. I believe that endless memorising only has a short-term benefit and should be largely unnecessary if there is a real understanding of the context.

I also believe that the enthusiasm of the tutor inevitably infects the tutee, no matter what the learning material.

Personal Description:
My name is Dina and I am twenty three years old, every since I was 15 I was fascinated with biology it is truly my ambition in life. I love teaching people about it in anyway possible.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring for almost five years now and my most recent experience was with IGCSE biology I am very well acquainted with it as I took the same curriculum in school myself.

Tutoring Approach:

I use a concept based approach, since biology can be a bulky subject to grasp in one go, I prefer cutting in into smaller cascades that can be easily understood by beginners or students who struggle with the subject. I believe in the power of motivation as well since students must believe in themselves to achieve anything they aspire to. And finally enough effort would inevitably pay off.

Personal Description:
Hello! My name is Kai and I am a native German currently studying International Business at the University of Strathclyde. The first 16 years of my life I lived in Germany, went to school and played football like any other boy at that age. Then the urge to enjoy some valuable time abroad made me join a boarding school in North Wales for one term. Having only a very poor level of English skills made it very hard for me to communicate and integrate with the other students. Fortunately after a few months the situation drastically improved and to the surprise for everyone I decided to stay in Wales. After two years I had successfully mastered the A-Level examination (A*AAB) and also secured a place at several top Universities. In the end I choose to study in Glasgow and I can say I am very happy with that decision!
As I have already experienced the difficulties of learning a completely new language and managed to overcome those, I would love to help anyone to learn German simply because it is a great feeling to be able to speak a completely new language!

In my free-time I enjoy watching and playing sports especially football!

Teaching Experience:

In my time in Germany I taught younger students who were struggling in school in either Maths or English. I managed to help those kids a lot and their grades significantly improved over the years. As I sat a German A-Level exam myself in Wales (A*), I believe that I can find the right mix between teaching a language and preparing one for an examination.

Tutoring Approach:

The German language is known to be quite complicated, however there a lot of ways to simplify it. I am quite a chatty person and like to work in a stress-free and friendly environment. The easiest way to learn something is to have fun while doing so! I want my students to enjoy their time with me and gain extra motivation through that.

Personal Description:
I am a 25 year old Zoology graduate living in Brighton, where I now work as a freelance science journalist. Aside from my studies, I have spent a lot of time travelling to different parts of the world and I enjoy meeting new people and learning from them. I am friendly and approachable and I have a good sense of humour.

Teaching Experience:

I have extensive experience of teaching Biology to all age groups, from primary school to university level. As a postgraduate researcher at the University of Liverpool, I taught Biology and Statistics to undergraduate students and led field studies courses, as well as tutoring privately. Since then, I have also spent time teaching primary school children about wildlife in national parks.

Additionally, I have experience of teaching English as a Foreign Language to secondary school children in Spain.

Tutoring Approach:

While I think it is important to be focused when learning, I try to have a relaxed approach when I teach, in order to make lessons enjoyable for my students. I will explain complex subjects clearly and simply, and I'm very patient. I believe that students are more likely to be enthusiastic about a subject if they can enjoy learning it!

Personal Description:
Science and engineering is my passion. If you are struggling with science I will make it easier!
I am a PhD at the 2nd year working at the Materials Department of the Imperial College of London. My main work is on advanced ceramics and metals. Since I started the PhD I have expanded my work with lab tutorials and supervising a few master's students with their thesis project. I like to help people understanding complex topics making them easier and practical.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a tutor when I was an undergraduate and I liked the experience. Thus, as I started my PhD at the Imperial College I looked for other teaching experience. I have been registered as Graduate Teaching Assistant after attending a course on teaching at the Imperial. This allowed me to work as Lab Demonstrator last year. I will be an assistant this autumn term too.

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer to know the subject program in advance and to discuss the weak points of the student about it. Therefore, we can understand how much needs to be done and on what we need to focus our work.
My personal approach on study has always been towards the understanding of the subject more than merely memorize it. Often this may look difficult, but almost everything can be made simpler with practical examples and once understood it is unlikely to forget it. Hence, I tend to transfer the same approach, which worked so well with me, to the tutees.

The tutoring is possible at the Imperial College or at your home.
I am available for tuition mainly in the evenings, usually after 5 pm. However, other suitable times may be arranged.
