Personal Description:
"Thank you very much for the great work you did with my daughter Sophie. She progressed from a 'C' grade to an 'A' grade in the space of 6 months and I would have no hesitation in recommending you to friends." - Billy, Bangor

As an experienced private tutor with a 100% pass rate, I offer highly effective, tailored lessons to a wide-range of students with various ability, learning types, and academic stages.

I have a passion for learning and fully appreciate all the forms that this can take. My approach is tailored to each student's own learning style and my methods aim both to support and to engage the student to continue learning in their own way.

Teaching Experience:

"The learning exercises were always set around my interest areas, making tuition both fun and effective. Following my sessions with Andrew, I have developed a more concise way of communicating. My writing now has more flow, which helps me say what I need to say." - Neil , Newtownabbey

Professional certified Life Coach and successful university graduate (1st class hons) with additional masters research degree. Taught at Secondary school and now several successful years tutoring especially English and Maths for most ages and stages, and passionate about nurturing the potential of each student whom I have the privilege to tutor.

Also a regular public speaker and workshop leader in areas including stress-awareness and communication skills, to self-care and personal development.

Tutoring Approach:

"Andrew was very professional in his approach to tutoring. My daughter gained confidence in her ability to understand her subject and to recall information using association techniques which proved very useful in her examinations."
Grainne, Randalstown

Combining motivational coaching techniques, I offer a fully engaging and personalised education. During the first session I will always undertake a comprehensive learning needs assessment, the results of which I make available to the parent. While encouraging the student to adopt high yet achievable targets for their own eduction, I am also sensitive to the level of each student and what he or she is ready to adopt.

This coaching-based approach I take has proven highly successful for my students, as my many positive references show. I approach each student and the sessions with an open-minded attitude of what I need to learn in order to be of support. I have many areas of interest outside of education, and pride myself in my ability to engage my students at their level and within their current areas of interest. My reward is seeing students succeed in their studies as well as developing their own personal skills and confidence.

AREAS COVERED / WHAT TO EXPECT

I help primary, secondary, university/college and mature students with reading, spelling, comprehension and every area of Maths up to GCSE. Alongside the specific subjects I tutor in, I can incorporate motivational coaching on exam and essay skills. This will ensure maximum value for your investment of time, effort and money

For English or Maths the first lesson will consist of a complimentary educational assessment (usually 30 minutes) to help identify key areas for improvement . All results shared with the parent/guardian. Based on this initial assessment, a 100% individual programme of learning is tailored for your child.

Upon request I am also able to provide emotional literacy around life skills such as: motivation, communication, self belief and concentration.

"I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for tutoring Philip this year; he adapted well with you as his new tutor and enjoyed your approach to teaching.
"I would have no hesitation in recommending Andrew as a tutor. I found him to be polite, courteous, reliable, and accommodating."
- Doreen, Ballyclare

Personal Description:
18/03 - Please note that on UK Tutors as both student and tutor to pay a fee before addresses can be exchanged. I have had quite a few people think that I profit from this fee but I really do not, I too have to pay a fee between 10-20.

In 2012, I completed my undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and Genetics from the University of Nottingham and in 2015, I completed my masters in Psychology. I have been an enthusiastic learner since a young age and hope that through my lessons, my students will also develop a passion and interest in the subjects I teach. I am looking to hopefully teach A-level students that require help to get a better grade. I am also happy to teach younger students.

I have taught Biology and Chemistry up to A-level standards across the most popular exam boards since graduating in 2012. As a result, I have an endless number of exam questions, worksheets and booklets to give to students from day one of teaching. I believe in learning little over a long period of time and working out a strong revision technique. Whilst, I wish all my students can achieve A/A* grades, hard work, motivation and revision are the key tools to achieve high grades, a tutor should only be a tool in your learning, not someone you rely on completely. Whilst I understand that my prices are high, I believe I am also fair. I don`t mind if students stay for longer than an hour if needed and am always happy to reply to emails for homework help.

In terms of future careers, I will be completing my PGCE in Secondary School Chemistry in the coming academic year and would like to eventually become an educational psychologist.

Since graduating in September 2015, I work as a teaching assistant in the Milton Keynes area, in particular in special needs schools, which means I am generally free after 3pm to teach students.

With regard to my CRB check, I was checked by Stoke Mandeville Hospital in 2013.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in total, over 20 students studying GCSE and A-level Biology/Chemistry/Maths on either AQA or OCR exam boards.

I teach Sunday to Thursday from 4pm to 9pm

Please note, I am happy to offer the first lesson free of charge for long term students, if it is only one lesson you need, then please make this known to me. The first hour is generally a "get to know me" session and finding out what areas the student wants to work on.

Tutoring Approach:

After teaching solidly since November 2012, I have been able to further develop my teaching skills. To begin, I start with revision techniques, worksheets and make new, very detailed, class/revision notes with my students. After developing a solid understanding, I begin with exam questions as I have been able to collect a solid amount of questions (exam and school questions). Every lesson, I print out worksheets and notes for my students as well as give them homework. Essentially, what I offer are school lessons that are more detailed and focused than what they receive in school. Through these methods, I am able to thoroughly assess a student's abilities, increase them and hopefully better their grades. However, I stress, students must work hard themselves to achieve good grades.

Parents often ask me about discount, I am happy to discuss this for long-term students and 2 hours lessons

Personal Description:
I have been involved in computers and IT for 23 years. I was first of all a professional computer games programmer / designer before moving into my current role as an IT Solutions Architect. Over the last 17 years in IT consultancy, I developed have a breadth and depth of knowledge in IT and computing which is hard to find almost anywhere in the UK having dealt with almost all types of systems and aspects of IT.

I'm not able to teach you all the intricacies of the Microsoft Office products like Excel or Word, but I can train you in system design, system support, software development and pretty much anything in between. I have detailed experience in virtually all Microsoft operating systems and applications. I am also very experienced on VMware products. I am also able to assist your training in application and web development in C, C#, VB, scripting and assembler (68000 & 6502).

Teaching Experience:

17 years of mentoring and training junior staff on systems including Microsoft operating systems and applications.
Delivered a classroom based Lotus Notes course for Computacentre.

Tutoring Approach:

I would first of all need to know what your learning requirements are. What is it you want to know about and to what level? From that point, I would create a training plan for you to reach that goal.

Personal Description:
I'm a graduate of University College London in Politics and Spanish, originally hailing from south-west London. Outside of university I'm broadly interested in the subject of education, having volunteered for two consecutive summers on an education project in south-west Uganda. I've got a strong academic record, winning the prize for the top graduating student across all courses in the Arts & Humanities faculty at University College London in 2015. My specific credentials for the subjects taught are below:

Maths: A* grade in A-level Maths, with an average of 99% across the 6 modules

Politics: First class grade in every module taken at UCL.

History: A* at GCSE and A-level. Full marks in History A2 exams.

Spanish: A* at GCSE and A-level. First class grade in all Spanish modules taken, language and literature, at UCL. Lived in Madrid for 9 months, and have spent 6 months travelling and volunteering in South America.

Teaching Experience:

- Tutored LSE Politics undergraduate in quantitative methods and essay planning from September 2015 to January 2016
- Tutored a year five student Mathematics from January to June 2015, references available
- Tutored Mathematics at Common Entrance level in my final year of school in 2011
- Ran one-on-one conversation English conversation classes in Madrid in 2014
- Mentored a group of ten first-year undergraduates in my second year of university in 2012
- Mentored a GCSE-level student as part of an IntoUniversity scheme in Lambeth in my first year of university in 2011

Tutoring Approach:

For school level: I have a friendly and informal style, based on building up a good relationship with the pupil, as this is the real advantage of the one-on-one set-up. Classes are structured, but I adapt things based on the situation and diverge from the lesson plan if necessary. I also work extensively with past and mock papers because I think practice is the best way to learn. Finally when I take on a pupil I am committed - if the pupil has problems or needs help between lessons I'm happy to be contacted via email.

For university level: I take an ad hoc approach depending on the student - I also like to keep things fun and informal. Particularly in essay subjects, I emphasise the need for a clear argument and structure, attributes highly valued at UK universities.

Personal Description:
Hello, I am from Paris, I have a honour degree in Arts from the University of Edinburgh (2003), and have been making painting and ceramics since then.

I love culture: the arts, music and literature so I am currently learning German and improving my Spanish because I want to explore more European cities.

My current favourite writers are George Sand and Elena Ferrante.

Teaching Experience:

I trained as a secondary school French teacher 10 years ago in Wales.

Since then I have been teaching French to undergraduate students, to adults in evening classes also at university and in private lessons, and to pupils in one to one after-school lessons.

I have been a supply teacher in secondary schools in South Wales so I am familiar with GCSE and A-level requirements.

I currently live in Scotland, Glasgow.

Tutoring Approach:

After approaching my student on her/his chosen areas of focus (GCSE pupils can expect to improve their writing skills as much as or even more than their speaking skills, while professional people may prefer to be more at ease first with their conversational skills) I try and devise lesson plans that are well-focused and engaging.

I use recent and stimulating resources such as French films, documentaries, online blogs and magazines.

Having done some acting in my early twenties I like to take inspiration from the feeling of acting and improvising. this does not mean that my students end up reciting impressive French speeches standing up in a cafe, but rather that I have a mind that naturally tries to create situations that lend themselves to role playing or improvising moods, etc.

Personal Description:
I am currently working as Lecturer in Finite Element Analysis at LSBU. My education details are as follows:

PhD Aeronautical Engineering (2014)

Degree (First class honours): BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering (2009)

HSSC: Mathematics (A+), Physic (A) (2005)
SSC: Mathematics (A+), Physic (A+) (2003)

Teaching Experience:

I have both Industrial and formal teaching experience as I have been giving the lectures at Loughborough University to engineering undergraduates and also I have tutored the Physics and Mathematics to number of GCSE and A-levels students.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching approach is to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere in which students feel more confident to raise questions. I like to listen to my students being at their level to address and identify the basic difficulties that they face in understanding the subjects. I try to involve the students in problem solving and present the subjects in an interesting manner with the help of useful hints that are often helpful to provoke the original thought in order to improve their analytical skills. I find myself committed and patient and I believe that such teaching skills make me ideal for tutoring. I often highlight the practical implications of the subjects where possible so that the students could relate the subjects to their future careers. I would be willing to concentrate on the specific areas that the student requests. The focus of my approach is to prepare the students for the exams by developing the analytical thinking in order to solve the problems. The deeper understanding of the mathematical sciences could only be achieved through intensive practice.

Personal Description:
I am studying Computer Systems Engineering at City, University of London, meaning that I study engineering mathematics every day.. Having achieved over 80% in my first year at university encourages me to carry on a high standard of achievements in my academic journey and then professional career.

Studying Mathematics at University has allowed me to master diverse areas of mathematics from Calculus to Linear Algebra. I am confident I can inspire tutee`s to enhance their problem-solving skills and understanding of mathematical terms.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like some general advice.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring for two years and have help students from most academic levels, from foundation university to KS3.

I am currently involved in a volunteering program where I teach secondary school students.

Having experience in helping students from different academic levels I am confident that I can push my tutees to perform to the best of their abilities.

Tutoring Approach:

I start by explaining the meaning of mathematical functions or just give a summary of how this can be understood by relating it to daily life or through the use of logic. If they manage to understand, I will go through multiple examples with them. Finally, I will leave some questions for them to do and as they work I request that they tell me every step they make and the reasoning behind it.

I also offer a past paper session, which includes me and the tutee solving a paper together that will help him advance his exam skills and improve their confidence.

Note: I might request to see the tutee`s syllabus and lecture notes as this will help me be in sync with the teacher/lecturer. From this, I am able to thoroughly prepare my sessions, and straight away start to build tutee confidence by helping them become knowledgeable in areas they were once weakest in.

Personal Description:
Hello! I am an enthusiastic English teacher based in York, I specialise in Literature and teaching English as a foreign language.

I have completed a BA (Hons) in English Language and Literature and gained a 2:1 along with a Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA). I now enjoy offering tuition in the York area.

I believe that it is important to really enjoy what you are learning about any subject and I hope I can help you in your experience with English!

Teaching Experience:

I completed a CELTA course in 2013 at York St John's University in order to train in teaching English as a foreign language; this was an amazing experience that truly prepared me for lesson planning and assisting students in their learning and development.

After the course, I set up a non-profit language class in York city centre to assist speakers of other languages in their development of English. This was targeted at working adults on a low income. The course ran for several months and was a hugely beneficial experience for both the students and teachers involved! Since then I have taught English as a foreign language both online and as a private tutor.

I have also tutored students towards GCSE English Language and Literature.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe every student is different so I aim to fit the lessons around your individual goals and personality. I value preparation before each lesson (especially on my part!) because the whole experience can be so much more rewarding that way.

Varying learning techniques is important in each study session to really make the most of the lesson time and make it as enjoyable and memorable as possible.

I tend to design each student their own webpage so that they have their own personal online space; to find resources, homework, lesson information and leave comments of their own.

Personal Description:
Hi my name is Sheena and I have over 5 years' experience working with children. I am currently a Primary School Teacher in Harrow and teach my class the whole curriculum therefore have a good understanding of the national curriculum. I am extremely passionate about Reading, Writing and Mathematics and believe this is the core to a child's education.

I thoroughly enjoy teaching and working with children because it gives me great satisfaction when children progress and achieve their goals.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently teaching a year 4 class at a Primary school in Harrow. I am thoroughly enjoying the class and helping them achieve their potential is at the heart of what I do. I have also taught a year 5 class and a year 4 class in a primary school in Leicester.

I have completed tutoring before and helped a young boy reach his goal of getting into a private school. I can also help children to prepare for their SATS examinations and being a current primary teacher enables me to know the national curriculum well. I hope I can help and support your child to achieve their maximum potential.

My other experience includes working in learning centers tutoring primary school children and being a volunteer at a school.

Personal Description:
Hi, I'm Jonathan and I recently graduated from the University of Exeter studying Business and Management. I speak 4 languages, am passionate about maths and business, and have extensive experience in 1 on 1 tutoring!

Teaching Experience:

I have a lot of tutoring experience and currently have a number of clients whom I teach Maths (Primary - GCSE) or German (Secondary - A-Level). Furthermore, I help run weekly GCSE revision sessions at a local school.

I have also run sessions for adult learners wanting to improve their German skills. In these sessions - which were often over skype - I was able to knowledge of the German language and culture to prepare tutees for upcoming exams, job interviews, or travels.

My experience, my academic background, and my teaching style make me an ideal tutor for anyone who wants to excel!

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring focuses on two main areas. Firstly, I aim to build up confidence. From experience, many students have the capacity to excel, but low confidence in often over-crowded or intimidating classroom environment limits their learning potential. That is why my aim is to identify the tutee's strengths and prove to them that they already know a lot more than they think!
Secondly, I identify the key areas of improvement and help develop these in structured lessons. Giving tutees the possibility to ask questions in an informal environment and getting students to explain concepts back to the tutor are both great methods to develop the areas of improvement.

My tailored sessions help find your strengths, improve your weaknesses, and ultimately succeed!
