Personal Description:
I am a 32 year old tutor based in south east London. For the past twelve years I have been teaching pupils of all ages and abilities in many different capacities and have an excellent success rate with my pupils.

I also work with children with behavioural difficulties/learning disabilities and with adults of all ages and nationalities.

Should you wish to use me, you would encounter a tutor easy to relate to and learn from in an enjoyable and easy environment. I believe a student who is abler ease with their tutor is far more likely to progress no matter where they are starting from!

I hope very much to hear from you soon.

Private Tuition (Paddington) Private tutor
Government-funded scheme to increase literacy levels amongst primary school pupils
2006-Present: Private Tuition in in all subjects and age ranges offered throughout London.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe one to one private tuition requires a tutor who can adapt to the needs of the pupil.

I would wish to meet the pupil initially to establish how they may best be assisted and what the pupil's key areas of concern are.

In short, each mind, young or old, needs different approaches and I believe my strongest ability is an adaptability to meet the varying needs and requirements of every student.

My approach, in most cases would be to follow a curriculum, finding out where their difficulties lie within this curriculum and how it would be best to resolve them.

I tend to use past papers when it comes to exam based tuition as this is ultimately what they will be faced with come exam time! However, when I have a pupil for longer there is more scope for more imaginative teaching or simply assistance with difficult homework.

With each of my previous pupils I have needed and been able to assist them in a way that is individually appealing to them and I have never had a pupil who has not achieved their desired results.

Personal Description:
I choose to study mathematics for my degree as an interests. (so is my interest for physics) After the studies, it is come to me I should share my enthusiasm to younger students as well. Private tutoring as a part time job is a good point to start, with the help from me, I hope students to find the subjects more interesting rather than a dull subject to part in the school.

Teaching Experience:

Qualification-wise, I've got A for Mathematics & Physics at A-Level, obtained MA Mathematics (Hons) from Edinburgh University and MSc Mathematics from King's College London.
Experience-wise, I've become a private tutor for three years now and I had taught over 200 students. The subject include mathematics, physics and mandarin. Range from KS3 to degree level.
Dec 2012 - Feb 2013: Teaching Assistant at Lister Community School
Oct 2014 - Jun 2015: Maths & Mandarin Tutor at Greig City Academy

Tutoring Approach:

For the mathematics and physics teaching, I believe the conceptional understanding is much more important than memorize the method. Once the concept has been absorbed, the method of solving problem become rather trivial. Of course to maximize the efficiency of learning, an interests in the subject is essential. Hence I'd like to increase the students engagement by given information on more practical use of the knowledge or more news on advanced study.

Note: for people asking for university level maths. I will ask lecture notes or at least syllabus. Though undergraduate maths is taught at similar level, there are variation for each modules due to each lecturers' style. Just list a module name hardly tells what topics are required to study. Lecture notes are used to see the way that particular lecture taught, otherwise give me a syllabus I shall use my own lecture notes.

Personal Description:
I'm in my early fifties, am married with four children, the youngest of whom is still at home. I have 30+ years experience of teaching all ages from pre-school (I used to child mind) to A level and FE students. I have taught children aged 4-14yrs in an Independent Christian School and I have English GCSE to adults. I help people who have particular difficulties and those who just lack confidence. I help people to see their very real strengths and to build on them, showing them techniques for learning and improving their writing style, comprehension skills and spoken English in a way that suits them as individuals. I always make sure that whether or not you want to pass exams, the English you use is fit for whatever need you have - so if you just need help in speaking to Doctors and nurses in hospital, I can help with that or if you want to start at Uni I can meet your study needs too at whatever level. I am extremely passionate about education and have a purposeful approach which takes account of students' individual learning styles. I am happy to travel to you at a cost of 40p per mile but if you prefer to come to me, that's fine too.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in homes, Primary and Secondary Schools, Colleges and Community Centres. I have taught workshops on how to apply for a job as well as teaching English as a foreign language and even adults with learning disabilities. You can see from this that I am a teacher who loves teaching - education is my passion! I also love reading and researching so I can help people with dyslexia and other learning difficulties. I have been trained in this area and I have always taken opportunities to improve my teaching skills. My students are very proud of their achievements in exams etc but most of all they thank me for building their confidence and allowing them to work at a pace which suits them so that they really enjoy what they are learning. I have taught the Cambridge ESOL qualifications Using the CLT technique from the CELTA qualification which I gained last year) as well as GCSE English language and Literature. I have experience of teaching on the one to one tuition scheme in Primary schools as well as class teaching. My most recent experience is as Head of English in a school for children with moderate learning difficulties, especially autism aged 11yrs to adults.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to give personal attention to my tutees and to tailor the lessons to their needs but am happy to teach up to 3 people together to reduce costs if that helps. We work on Language skills such as pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar in ESOL lessons with plenty of practice for tests if needed and when studying literature at a higher level, I encourage my tutees to relate what they are reading to current issues and events in the world so that it is relevant and interesting for them. We have lots of fun but at the same time we work intensively, reading aloud to proof read and learning strategies for spelling, punctuation and organising essays etc. It is a great way to prepare for further academic study and I can help to prepare students for interviews or to give that all important presentation which could lead to promotion. We offer Home Stay at our home which is a riverside Victorian Railway station in the heart of particularly attractive countryside with visits to sites of Historical interest, practice with English speaking in our family from 350.00 /week negotiable according to visits selected.

Personal Description:
Hello - thanks for looking at my tutoring page. I am an experienced teacher, having worked in a range of schools over the last 7 years. I am an active musician, composing music as well as performing - both as a singer and an organist. I have broad musical interests - I'm just at home listening to John Grant as I am to Rachmaninov. I'm friendly and approachable, and keen to help all people to meet their full potential.

Teaching Experience:

I have been working as a teacher since graduating from the University of Oxford in 2007. I completed my PGCE Teacher Training in 2008, working in a range of contrasting environments. I spent the first two years of my teaching career at a school in Gloucestershire, where I was responsible for developing teaching resources at Key Stage 3, 4 and 5. I currently head up the Music Department in a high-achieving school in Wimbledon. I am very experienced teaching the Edexcel and AQA GCSE, AS and A2 Music courses, but am also a Senior Examiner for AQA in their A Level papers. I have previous experience of teaching History to A Level.

Tutoring Approach:

More than anything, I think that it is important to establish your goals for our tutorials at the start. This ensures that we can work together to get the results you want. I am able to travel (within reason) to your house via public transport/car. I have lots of helpful resources that I have produced and published which will greatly aid your learning and help you to increase your understanding. I am able to tutor via Skype or Facetime if this is more convenient to you. I run Sibelius at home. I am friendly, approachable and professional with a strong knowledge of music and history. I am able to help with University preparation should this be of interest and work closely with pupils in their applications for Music College/Oxbridge.

Personal Description:
I am a Music graduate hoping be a primary or secondary school teacher. Teaching is a passion of mine and and hope to gain and learn as much experience as possible within this sector. I am friendly, with excellent communication skills. When working with pupils, i always want them to succeed and get the grades they need through motivation, encouragement and making them feel they are able to ask questions at any point. The most rewarding part of tutoring is knowing that pupils are achieving good grades and they feel confident enough in school to do the tasks in class.

Teaching Experience:

I currently work at a secondary school as a Learning Support Assistant and help pupils with their school work and homework. I have supported pupils in many different subjects from Maths, English, Science to Art and Drama. I have developed different ways of teaching through one to one lessons which i currently do at the school with a pupil and have been doing this since February 2012. I have worked previously in a Primary School as a voluntary teaching assistant.

Tutoring Approach:

I feel its important to look at what pupils are currently working on in school which can also include homework they are struggling with and help them with that. I create a friendly environment where they are comfortable enough to ask questions and able to tell me when they still don't understand.

Personal Description:
I have spent many years accumulating a wide range of academic qualifications, and my work has often primarily consisted of passing on my knowledge to others in a form they can understand. I get a lot of satisfaction from helping people to understand something they thought was beyond them. By virtue of having studied several subjects at a high level, I empathise with the feeling of finding something difficult, and have the patience and technique to get past this. I am not a single-subject specialist who might find it difficult to understand why others struggle in their area of expertise.
For students who are preparing for exams, my knowledge of examination technique, and an empathy with the marker, should be invaluable. I always keep in mind the importance of the student's goals, but never take myself too seriously.

Teaching Experience:

My whole career has been geared towards some form of teaching. I have trained groups of adults and children, as well as individuals, in elements of mathematics, psychology, actuarial science, pensions, and even tennis! Recently I tutored my 14 year-old son (who attends a sports academy, not a mainstream school) in three IGCSEs, for which he obtained excellent grades.

Tutoring Approach:

I look at what is important for the student. I emphasise clear, logical ways of working, and clear presentation. I make sure that they realise that they not only need to understand why they are doing something, but they must also be able to explain it clearly. Explaining a difficult concept to someone else can often be the best way to make yourself remember it. I am calm and patient, and English is my first language, all of which can help when a student finds something tricky.

I am consistently available for tutoring during weekday daytimes. I will sometimes be available in the evenings and at weekends, but this will be by arrangement and should not be relied upon.

Personal Description:
I'm a well spoken and friendly "science geek" with great interpersonal skills. I pride myself on a relaxed and logical approach to problem solving; whether it be at a post-graduate level or the ability to communicate GCSE and A-Level topics in a relevant manner. Throughout my schooling I saw many classmates struggle with topics because they were unable to make a connection to their interests. Personal tutoring allows the tutee to have access to the information in a tailored manor such that they are able to relate the the problem and make clear logical choices about how to proceed.

I graduated with an MSci in Chemistry from the University of Nottingham last year and I'm currently in my 1st year of a 4 year PhD, also Chemistry. Throughout my course I did extra maths and physics modules and my research currently also depends heavily on all the sciences and maths. For those interested in Uni-level tutoring within Chemistry; my PhD involves a lot of vibrational spectroscopy (inorganic section), and I regularly use all the physics, maths and inorganic chemistry taught at undergrad level.

Teaching Experience:

Tutoring:
I have tutored multiple students in the past, providing entire revision/improvement courses for both GCSE and A-level students as well as help a variety of university students achieving high grades on specific modules.

The tailored approach of private tuition allows students to quickly build confidence in a subject (and exam technique) which results in achieving grades that each student is capable of. I've also offered subject specific tutoring, such as "Quantitive Analysis for Business", a statistical module for Business Management students.

University:
Demonstrating: I help undergrad students understand and complete practical experiments several times a week.
A-Level Outreach/UCAS: I participate in numerous UCAS events to help potential students and parents understand what Chemistry at Nottingham Uni has to offer.

Outdoor Education:
Last summer I lived in a forest for 3 months and each week had a different group of 12-16 year olds to look after and teach them how to survive in the wild. Catching and cooking our food, building shelters to sleep in and different ways to make fire were just some of the topics covered.

Tutoring Approach:

An essential part of great exam grades is an understanding of not only the subject area, but an understanding of the underlying question. Tailoring a teaching style to every student is essential, especially when it comes to science and maths. Although it's possible to pass exams with a "copy and paste" approach, developing an understanding of the subject area will yield much better grades and almost certainly reducing the amount of stress associated with exams.

Any questions please drop me a message!

Personal Description:
I am a friendly, approachable, History & Politics teacher, currently teaching in Bromley, Kent. I am very passionate about education and I find great satisfaction in helping young people achieve.

I studied History & American Studies at the University of Nottingham and the University of Toronto, achieving a 2:1. I also have a PGCE at Masters level. I also have A2 Levels in English Literature, History and P.E.

Due to my experience in teaching for a couple of years at a top independent school, l I am happy to help with preparing for the 11+ and entrance examinations, and interview technique.

Teaching Experience:

I spent my first year of teaching working at a top independent boys' school in Surrey, teaching History. I then completed my PGCE, working at two different schools in the Bromley area. I am now in my second year of teaching at Charles Darwin School in Biggin Hill, where I teach History up to A2, Government and Politics up to AS, and Religious Studies up to GCSE.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in tailoring tutoring to each individual's learning style to get the best out of our time together. I do this whilst also trying to create an enjoyable working environment to encourage maximum learning potential. This is especially important with younger students; I want them to enjoy our sessions so that they look forward to them and get the most out of them.
I have a huge variety of tried and tested resources that I have created and used in the various schools I have worked in. I always adapt these to the needs of the individual learner so they can be of maximum benefit.
I am also happy to set work to be done outside of the sessions, which can then be worked on together in future meetings

Personal Description:
Hi! I'm Lorna.

I teach English as a second language.

My initial training in this saw me complete a BA Hons. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) & Linguistics at the University of Wolverhampton. I then went on to complete a CELTA or certificate in English language teaching, with Cambridge in Mallorjca.

After teaching English for a couple of years in the South of Spain, I came back to the UK to complete my Masters in Linguistics at the Univeristy of York. I then went on to teach English for academic purposes at the University of Birmingham.

I have also taught online and managed summer courses in the UK.

My teaching is student-centred and communicative. I think that I'm a fun and friendly person and because of this my classes have a good atmosphere.

I can help you to improve your General English, guide you with secure English language tests, such as IELTS or Trinity ISE and GESE, or can help you with a specific skill or focus.

I look forward to seeing you soon!

Teaching Experience:

I have taught and managed on English as a second language courses abroad, in the UK and online. I currently have a number of private students in Wolverhampton and the Black Country who study with me for a number of reasons, including Trinity GESE B1 preparation, IELTS, help with general English, etc.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching style in communicative and student centred. Lessons, courses and classes will always be planned and prepared specifically for my students.

Tutoring can take place in Wolverhampton or in the student's home or workplace.
