Personal Description:
My name is John, 20 years old and I am currently a student at the University of York, studying Mathematics. I have currently been studying my subject for 2 years and will be starting my third year at York in October. I have always had a passion for mathematics and actually sat my GCSE a year early and achieved the maximum grade and so this illustrates that passion I have. Teaching Experience:
No *official* teaching experience, but I used to stay behind after school to help teach some younger kids for their GCSE's after I passed my own in year 10. I may be able to obtain a reference from my previous high school from the Head of Mathematics about this if this is required.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring would be to practice practice and more practice! When I was revising for my GCSE's and A-Levels I used to answer past-paper questions, mark the paper, and then go over the topics I didn't do so well on. This would be a similar approach to what I will use with my students. Practice papers, then to go over the topics they didn't quite understand, learn these topics again and then practice some more, rinse and repeat, but willing to listen to suggestions from students if they want anything extra from the tutoring sessions.

Bespoke to the pupil as each student has a different level of skill. For example, not all singing pupils can read music and so teaching must be adjusted to allow for this. I was responsible for preparing course materials, conducting tutorials, marking students essays and exams,including HSK exam. In 2007-8, I offered tutoring to the English-speaker in Madrid when I was studying Spanish in school.
And from 2008 until this year June, I taught native English people in Oxford when I lived there. My tutees include student from Oxford University.

I then create a balance of keeping the pupil interested and focused - by, for example, telling him/her the application/theory behind the questions he/she is answering - and challenging the student with example questions, tests, and home-works - created by myself as to not let the pupil repeat questions when at school.

Once the course has been taught and the pupil is comfortable with the material, the student will then start to be prepared for the end of year examination. Apart from lessons on the mathematics, during this period i will also give the student advice on how to tackle the exam and advice for the day.
