Personal Description:
I am a qualified teacher and current Head of Sociology in an FE college in Bristol. I am also currently finishing a part-time Masters in Psychology. I have a real passion for teaching the social sciences, a passion that is very much brought to classroom teaching and tutoring sessions on a daily basis.

I am an approachable yet focused and committed individual who truly enjoys sharing in the successes and development of others. I am a patient and caring person, and always seek to understand the learning needs of each individual in order to maximise both enjoyment and achievement.

Personal interests include triathlon and playing bass guitar.

Teaching Experience:

I have seven years of experience in teaching Sociology and Psychology at both A Level and GCSE. My students consistently achieve results above their predicted grades. I also have experience teaching English as a Foreign Language, both in London and abroad, and would welcome the opportunity to expand my experience by working with students with additional educational needs.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is through ensuring a personalisation of the learning experience. Each student's needs and expectations from tutoring will naturally be different, and my job is to help identify, and cater to, those individual needs.

I endeavour to create a safe, supportive, but challenging learning environment, particularly focusing on the development of the learning skills needed to be successful both in life and in an exam environment.

Above all, I try to make tutoring sessions fun and enjoyable, scaffolding concepts and theories around the everyday experiences of young people today, in order to create those connections which guarantee both short- and long-term learning.

Personal Description:
I am an enthusiastic and experienced teacher with a real passion for languages. This has led me to travel widely within Europe and amass a great deal of experience of other cultures. That and my belief in 'having a go' at communicating has led me to learn the basics of quite a few languages and given me plenty of material for (short) 'instructional anecdotes', based on various scrapes and international misunderstandings! Languages should be fun and we should never be afraid to try them out! My other passion is music - a truly international language - and I enjoy my weekly instrumental lessons and playing with my local (amateur) orchestra.

Teaching Experience:

I hold degree level qualifications in English, French, Spanish and German and have over 30 years' experience of teaching languages, in both private and state schools and Sixth Form and Further Education colleges, where I have prepared students for a range of examinations and other qualifications. I have particular expertise in helping students bridge the gap between GCSE and AS level - and I love grammar! I have also worked as a private tutor and as a provider of courses and interpreting services for local businesses. My students have ranged in age from 8 to 80-plus. I teach Spanish and French to A level and can also offer German and Italian to intermediate level and basic introductory courses in Russian and Latin. I also offer conversational English for speakers of other languages.

Tutoring Approach:

Lessons can be in my home or at a venue of your choice, within a 5-mile radius. I can travel further afield, but would need reasonable time and travel expenses. I can offer day-time or evening lessons, any day of the week. My hourly rate is 25, though I also offer lessons of 30 or 50 minutes (pro rata). The same rate applies irrespective of the group size. Tutoring can be 1-to-1, small-group or, if you can provide a suitable venue, in a group of up to 15. I can offer intensive tuition or courses of various lengths (though exam candidates must make their own arrangements to sit papers). Alternatively, I can offer coaching and support for those already studying elsewhere. Each course is tailor-made to suit your exact requirements - and I aim to make each lesson fun!

I am a very open person, who is always willing to help and will have the patience when students just can't get there heads around a topic.

Teaching Experience:

I taught a few children back at my school in Germany, just as a favour when they different quite understand something which I had already done in previous years.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very open, I do however pressure students to a degree to get them to believe in themselves and to not give up as if they can't bring up the willpower to understand something it will make their lives even harder when it comes to doing the actual work. However if students try their very best and don't give up, I don't see why one shouldn't spend as long as necessary to get a certain concept understood.

Personal Description:
Hello!
I am from Burgundy in France, I spent five years in an International boarding school (France) and came to London right after my Baccalaureat, I have been here for eight years.
I have a vast knowledge regarding art practice as I have been working in a studio for years as an artist. However, I have chosen to write rather than practice. I have specialised in Contemporary Art Theory because it is for me primordial to consider art within its context. I have studied sociology, philosophy and geopolitics during my Master.
I am highly curious and passionate about Art. My favourite periods are the Renaissance and the 20th century to nowadays. I tend not to be Eurocentric.
My last role was Gallery Manager for an art collector who was hosting private salons and exhibitions. Likewise, I have worked in many galleries in London and Paris.
I aim to work in the education or programming departments of art and cultural institution. I am currently working as a consultant for community centres (from 5 years old to adults) and collaborate with a collective.

Teaching Experience:

I have been working in the education department of galleries (Paris and London), and I have been assisting other artists or curating and sometimes facilitating my own participatory projects. In some ways, those projects and workshops are a different type of art classes. I usually work with a maximum of five children and ten adults. I am looking forward to focusing on one single person.

Tutoring Approach:

I would like to meet you a first time (for which the fee would be reduced to 15 because this would not be a teaching session) we would discuss your needs and how I can adapt to them. I am happy to support you in your research or practice, introduce you to art, help you deepen your knowledge or assist you with school projects and exams.
I would create a structure that empowers you, I would not impose anything unless agreed with the parents, and if this the case we will try different approaches until we get an encouraging response.
If preferred, we can skip the first introductory class and jump right into it.
