Personal Description:
I am an MFL teacher with bags of enthusiasm and an immense passion for French and Spanish. I work in a Boys Grammar School in North Kent, and have enjoyed spells living in Quebec and Aix-en-Provence in the past. I find empathising with students easy, and have girls and boys between 8 years old and adult on my books. In my free time, I enjoy going to the gym, reading and cycling, having recently completed the London to Brighton cycle in aid of the British Heart Foundation.

Teaching Experience:

I currently teach in a Grammar school in North Kent. I have also done a year's supply in South Yorkshire, as well as in a primary school in France. I also have 9 months experience of teaching French in Essex. I am currently tutoring 4 students going into a third year and I am familiar with the A Level system as well as the IB, having only last year helped two IB students achieve the necessary grades for Durham and Cambridge Universities. I am sure a reference could be available upon request!

Tutoring Approach:

I like to support students in their learning by being thorough, professional, but approachable. My effective tutoring in the past has helped students to feel more confident, happier and untimately this shows in their results. I was very proud of two students IB results last year, but I take equal pleasure from progress in other areas, such as a marked increase in confidence and ability with a student of a younger age.

Personal Description:
I have achieved academic excellence in History, English and Religious Studies in particular, and I recently graduated from the University of Sussex with a first class degree in History.

Teaching Experience:

I have previously tutored students in English Literature (GCSE) and Philosophy (AS Level). I have also created lesson plans and taught lessons to Year 8 and Year 9 students, and have planned and delivered educational assemblies for year groups 7-13.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a friendly and approachable individual, and I am clear and concise in my ability to explain concepts and ideas to my students. I am committed to helping my students and improving their understanding, and as a result I listen carefully to the requirements of each individual, and I am able to tailor my approach to each student in order to find a method of teaching that works for them.

Personal Description:
I am an OCR Chemistry A Level examiner (specification A) and a teacher in a sixth form college. I have a PhD in Biochemistry (Distinction) and Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Distinction). Currently, I am only taking tutees studying the above mentioned specification, in order to provide highly specialised support. I offer tuition in person as well as online.

I have a PhD in Biochemistry (Distinction) and Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Distinction). My hobbies are varied, but I would mention football and chess.

Teaching Experience:

I have been an A Level Chemistry classroom teacher for four years. The knowledge and skills gained from delivering this specification allows me to tailor lessons to my tutee's needs. My resources and worksheets range from introduction of topics to activities that challenge students to the A* grade. I am aware of typical problem areas where students struggle as well as common misconceptions, and I tackle them in ways that students feel comfortable with. In addition to A Level Chemistry, my classroom teaching experience also includes GCSE Chemistry and HND in Applied Chemistry Level 4 and 5 (equivalent to first and second year of a chemistry degree).

My experience as an A Level Chemistry examiner enables me to guide students on how to maximise their performance in exams. I work with my students through mark schemes, helping them to interpret them, and revise independently. I emphasise the need for accurate terminology in explanations and clear working out of calculations. Also, I help students understand the structure of standard exam questions as well as approaches to unfamiliar ones.

As a private tutor, my teaching approach varies depending on the needs of the tutee. I have experience in helping students starting A2 , resitting AS, students aiming for A*, and students with special needs.

Tutoring Approach:

In the first lesson I show original documentation for identity, proof of qualifications and DBS (previously known as CRB) to my students and their parents.

I offer the first lesson as a free no obligation lesson, which is only charged if students decide to continue to have further lessons with me. Therefore if after the first lesson you are not fully satisfied and decide not to come back, then you would not have to pay for it.

My approach to teaching students consists of the following steps:
-To establish a good atmosphere between the student and myself.
-To identify the student's current level and the difficulties they are experiencing in the topic we are going to start working on.
-To define the learning objectives for the session so that students have a clear idea of what they need to learn.
-To keep a continuous interaction with the student during the whole lesson though questioning and different activities in order to keep the student engaged whilst I can check if learning is taking place.
-To evaluate the session in terms of what the student has mastered and what needs further work.
-To set homework so that the student consolidates the acquisition of new concepts and skills.

Personal Description:
I am currently a PhD student in History at the University of Leicester, having recently finished an MA in History at the University of Warwick and a BA in History at the University of Leicester. My studies have generally concentrated on British and American history from c.1500 - present. My main strengths are in modern history from 1700 to 1945, however I am versatile and able to teach other topics outside these thematic areas.

I am a friendly, enthusiastic and patient character that is able to encourage and teach in a passionate and worth-while manner. I have a wide-ranging experience of teaching and mentoring from a young age (see below)

Please feel free to send me an email with any queries you may have.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught students in several capacities, including: personal tutoring (year seven up to A Levels); voluntary work at primary and secondary schools (three schools in total); and through mentoring schemes.

I was also employed as a Cover Supervisor at a high school in West Bromwich for seven months, in which I had to teach students of divergent backgrounds, abilities and ages.

Tutoring Approach:

I have learnt and taught in a variety manners, and so I have the ability to tailor tuition around a tutee's specific needs.

Personal Description:
I am a mechanical engineer with MPhil in Engineering for Sustainable Development from University of Cambridge.

Teaching Experience:

I was involved in conducting the training camp for the selection of the team that represented Pakistan in the 36th International Physics Olympiad, held in Spain. I was involved in conducting exams, practicals, marking, teaching as well as coordinating tutorials sessions with professors.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to take a practical approach to teaching. I want to give an intuitive feel to the students to help him grasp complex concepts. I do this by giving everyday examples to highlight the subjects under study. I want to
make science fun, cool and intuitive for students and remove the myth and misconceived perception that it is difficult and boring. If the teaching approach is correct, there is no reason why students will not be thrilled by laws and mechanisms of universe.

Three Years Experiences for Mandarin

Comments from students:

From John:
"I've had several Mandarin lessons with Wei so far, and have always found her to be very professional, friendly and well organised. She has a flexible approach to learning, tailoring the lessons to meet my needs and requirements. The lessons are informative, relaxed and fun.

Highly recommended.

John"

Comment from Corinna "Da jia hao" As a senior pupil of Madras College studying Mandarin, Dawson and Wei have been very helpful in increasing my confidence with certain aspects of the language, especially pronunciation; finding examples of common English 'sounds' that I could relate to and even recording audio files for me to listen to at home. It was great to be able to go though any difficulties I was having at my own pace instead of competing with my classmates and they were both very patient and friendly, my weekend tutorials with them have been most useful.

Comment from Kenneth "Wei gave me several fun and informal lessons, which were exactly the sort of practice I needed before heading off to China.
With each class she provided more in-depth and involved content than that which I was studying on my own from a textbook. She was also able to give clear answers to any questions I had which helped me to understand points in the language I had been struggling with.
As she is from TianJin her Chinese accent is as close to standard PuTongHua as you can get. I would recommend her as a teacher to anyone."

Maths:
I am very passionate and enthusiastic in helping students to understand and discover Maths as an interesting and easy subject. I ensure my tutoring improves my student's grade and confidence to achieve most success and best possible results in exams. Their achievements are my goal and priority. I am very patient and attentive to the needs of the students so that we can attain our goal .

Personal Description:
I can help with the new GCSE/GCE exams and Brighton College and Westminster School scholarship coaching are recent successes. I am also a former Advanced Skills Teacher with many years of experience working in a comprehensive school with all abilities from GCSE to A levels / Oxbridge entrance. My key priority is to provide a safe learning setting where the learner and my starting point is always to be where the learner is rather than a fixed programme in advance.

Enhanced DBS / CRB status February 2014

Clearly you will need to know if this will be the right arrangement for you, so the first lesson is free with no commitment to continue.

If your child has the potential, I can enable him or her to achieve the highest grades: knowing what the exam requires you to do will make a difference

Teaching Experience:

I have coached a pupil who gained a scholarship for Brighton College and another who was awarded the Queen's Scholarship to enter Westminster School, London. In both cases exams tested a whole range of traditional skills set at a relatively demanding level for this age group. Future candidates would be welcome to contact me.

Prior to this, I have taught pupils from 11 years upwards to Advanced Level pupils heading for Oxbridge. I have worked as an examiner for an exam board, set and marked papers at GCSE and taught adults in evening classes.

Tutoring Approach:

Tuition offered via Skype which offers greater flexibility of timings, lengths of lesson etc as well benefits for teaching using Google docs which record lesson progress, better use of resources etc.

Tuition also offered in student's home within Brighton if required or a mix of the above

On-line tasks can be set in between lessons to practise skills learnt.

Lively approach including games where appropriate.

Teaching linked to the exam board specification you are working towards including specific skills at GCSE / A level.

Grammar taught relevant to your needs: to include the new course requirements when published.

Feedback after each session to parents/ guardian or carer if requested to include likely grade potential at GCSE / A level or IB

A / AS / IB level students will work through short accessible texts to build up topic vocabulary but also support class tuition in your college or school.

Common Entrance Level candidates or specific entry exams for schools will receive very focused teaching to prepare for the exam.

Adult tuition for business or leisure.

I would be pleased to work with students in groups of 2 or 3 for a reduced fee per person.

Fees are a little higher than perhaps for other tutors, but you will be receiving a premium service with many more benefits than a session's tuition: every 10th lesson is free!

Personal Description:
I have been tutoring for over three years, with excellent results , while working in the maths department of a secondary school where I have been for 10 years.

I teach students of all ages and abilities, including those with SEN (special educational needs). In a classroom situation, on a one to one basis or as part of a small group.

I have extensive knowledge of the curriculum taught in years 7-11 and excellent resources, including past exam papers.

Teaching Experience:

I teach GCSE Maths to students who need extra help to reach their targets, this can be in a classroom situation or as part of a small group.
I also run intervention groups in tutor time and after school that offer extra help to GCSE students before their exams.

Tutoring Approach:

I get a great deal of a satisfaction from working with students and helping them become more confident in a subject they quite often dislike because they find it difficult.
I have a very calm and patient manner as I want to build a good relationship with my students and for them to feel relaxed.
After assessing the student I set realistic goals for them so they feel they are achieving, each student is different and learns at a different rate, the important thing is for them to make the progress they are capable of.

Personal Description:
I have a BA Honours Degree in English Studies from Aleppo University in Syria in 2000. I embarked on two Postgraduate Diplomas at Aleppo University one in Linguistics (2002); the other in Education and Qualification in 2003. In both of these Diplomas I was awarded a Distinction. In 2002, I was fortunate in gaining a scholarship to study in the UK and was nominated to study in the department of Language and Linguistics at the University of Essex. I found this course to be immensely useful to me as a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) professional as I was able to observe a range of different EAP (English for Academic Purposes)classrooms; make academic presentations and really developed my love of scholarship which fired me with the enthusiasm to read for a PhD degree. I finished my doctorate in TESOL at the University of Ulster entitled "EAP Teachers Approaches to Giving Written Feedback on Academic Writing in British and Syrian ELT Centres". . I am extremely interested in teaching the language skills (as my recent doctorate shows). I am extremely hard working and sociable. I have good comparative knowledge of Western and Islamic societies which I could share with students where pertinent. I also have two qualifications from Ulster University in Peer Mentoring and Counselling.

I have strong interpersonal, communication, and classroom management skills and self-motivator. Apart from being an interesting experience in itself, tutoring is an ideal opportunity for me at this stage of my career as the area of this job is interesting to me and I have got the enthusiasm and motivation and energy to do it well and to develop things.I would like consider offering online tutorials (email writing tutorials for students who can not attend some classes).

Teaching Experience:

In the Diploma of Education and Qualification, I have been trained how to teach and how to deliver lectures in Arabic and English and also how to prepare lesson plan. I have experience of teaching university students in Syria as I was a lecturer at Aleppo University from 2002 to 2013. I enjoy teaching and lecturing and love my profession as I am particularly interested in communicating with individuals and groups. My colleagues and supervisors all say that I am a natural communicator and this, coupled with my knowledge of the field, leads me to think that I would make a good teacher. My mother tongue language is Arabic, yet my knowledge of written and spoken English is very good as well. I am also interested in materials design and curriculum development in ELT and could make useful contributions in these areas. I have also specialized in ESP, Materials and Methods in ELT, Language Teachers in Classrooms and Vocabulary and would be interested in teaching international students. My job in Syria was delivering pre-sessional programmes in academic English language to Syrian postgraduate students. Those students have to attend some EAP and ESP courses and pass the final exam which will enable them to pursue their high studies in Syria or in some English speaking countries like UK, USA and Canada. My teaching experience gives me a deeper insight and understanding of actual teaching/learning contexts. When I did my MA degree at Essex University, I taught some international students as part of the "Teaching Practice" module. I have been trained how to write a lesson plan for international students and how to use the PowerPoint for delivering lectures. Furthermore, I am very au fait with technology in the classroom.

Tutoring Approach:

It is the application of an integrating approach for the development of communicative skills in the lesson, in which the four skills in the acquisition of knowledge of a foreign language can be taught in a coherent way, and practiced together, with a distinction of the importance of one upon the other. One image for teaching English as a second or foreign language (ESL/EFL) is that of a tapestry. The tapestry is woven from many strands, such as the characteristics of the teacher, the learner, the setting, and the relevant languages (i.e., English and the native languages of the learners and the teacher). For the instructional loom to produce a large, strong, beautiful, colorful tapestry, all of these strands must be interwoven in positive ways. For example, the instructor's teaching style must address the learning style of the learner, the learner must be motivated, and the setting must provide resources and values that strongly support the teaching of the language. However, if the strands are not woven together effectively, the instructional loom is likely to produce something small, weak, ragged, and pale--not recognizable as a tapestry at all.

Personal Description:
I am a recent Cambridge graduate and a current teacher in a private school. I am now accepting private students for the year 2017-18 in politics.

Over 2016-17, I taught the Edexcel board for Government & Politics at AS and A2 level to six private students and GCSE English to four. I also helped several students undertake their history coursework. All achieved A*s in their final grade.

PLEASE NOTE: I no longer teach history but am more than happy to assist with coursework.

I have been accepted to Cambridge twice and can therefore assist with personal statements and interview technique. Furthermore, I have been sitting exams for the last fourteen years and am therefore well equipped to help students learn and master exam technique. I also specialize in editing and improving coursework.

Teaching Experience:

I currently teach A-Level Politics and History at a private school in Ashtead two days during the week. This leaves me the rest of the week to pursue my private tutoring/teaching. I am fully trained on the latest syllabus and have been DBS (formally CRB) checked.

I have tutored for the last few years in the Surrey area, bringing several students grades' up from B/C to A and A* at A-Level. I also specialize in editing and improving coursework and dissertations and have coached several students through the Oxbridge interview process. Moreover, I have three younger siblings, and regularly help them with their work at both GCSE and A-Level standard.

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer to tailor teaching methods to each individual student. I am hands-on however and like to create guides/notes for students to take with them. I prefer to teach rather than get paid to watch students work - although I will set useful exercises to do during our sessions. I am all about exam technique and strategy!

I am also used to working with students with learning difficulties, such as dyslexia and dyspraxia.
