Personal Description:
Qualified and experienced German tutor for 13 years working mainly with adults who need German for business and personal reasons.

Teaching Experience:

Have been teaching German as foreign language for 5 years in South Africa as part of a naval project in collaboration with the Bundeswehr. Furthermore have been tutoring individuals for the past 13 years (from child carers to tour operators). Have upgraded my skills with the Goethe Institute in Cape Town and also attended some teaching seminars of which one was with the German Defense Force at their language school in Cologne. Have a degree in languages as well as a national diploma in German teaching didactic.

Tutoring Approach:

I think that communication is a priority and that a course should be customized according to the specific client's need. I believe that learning a language should be fun and that even adults learn easier with games and topics that they are interested in. The grammar and writing skills should be integrated in the learning process without boring the learner. The other important aspect is to introduce German culture and and Germany to the client in order to get bigger picture of language and its context.

Personal Description:
Hi, my name is Tom and I am currently working as an English, maths and ICT teacher working at a local college. I hold: a first degree in Sociological, Historical and Literary studies, with Honours (BA Hons); a Master's Degree (MA) in Sociological Criminology and Criminal Justice; a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (P.G.C.E); a TEFL certificate (teaching English as a foreign language qualification); and I am a qualified assessor (TAQA). I live in Fleetwood with my wife and family and my interests are football, non fictional reading, critical writing and critical discussion.

Teaching Experience:

I currently teach English but also, some maths and ICT. I have previously worked at various colleges across the North West teaching these subjects as well as sociology. I have about five years private tutoring experience and enjoy both classroom and one to one teaching.

After graduating with a Masters Degree, I decided to embark on a teaching career, for which, I love. With having all the skills and knowledge in place, I wanted to give something back and help others succeed.

In addition to working at key stage 3 and 4 in an English setting and up to A level in sociology, I have over two years experience working in a Primary School setting. I love working with all ages and all levels of education.

Tutoring Approach:

With my level of knowledge and current experience, I would be ideally suited to improving your child's English and sociology grades up to GCSE level for English and A Level for sociology. With my in depth knowledge and developed writing skills, coupled with my teaching and learning qualities, I will be able to focus on areas of the curriculum that your child falls short in.

Focusing on improving your child's underpinning core knowledge, such as spelling, grammar and punctuation, I will also increase their capacity to internalise information due to my enthusiastic, friendly and easy to get along with style. The key to actively engaging learners to improve their grades is to: provide enjoyable lessons; set achievable targets; and give good, honest feedback. If learners enjoy themselves, know what they are required to do and how to do it, they progress!

If your child struggles to express themselves through their work, homework or coursework/ essays, or struggles to get motivated to complete tasks, I can help improve their enthusiasm, enjoyment and essentially their grades. My learner orientated approach helps to develop the ability to organise and structure work, improve grammar and punctuation and broaden creative output. Further to this, I also like to show learners how to self motivate and to manage time more effectively when embarking on homework or coursework, which is essential to further progression.

My methodical, approachable and friendly style, coupled with my results orientated approach, is suitable for learners of all ages (including younger children and adult learners), which in turn will aid development in other subject areas. Furthermore, I am TEFL (teaching English as a foreign language) qualified, so I am also skilled in teaching learners English who speak English as a second/ foreign language.

Personal Description:
I have recently moved to Eastbourne following six years in West Yorkshire where I worked as a a self-employed independent education consultant, and also as a School Improvement Partner and Link Officer for Calderdale MBC. I have over thirty years teaching experience in primary, junior and middle schools.I have always loved teaching children and feel that I can help them develop self-esteem and confidence.

I currently have the following times available:

Monday and Thursday mornings - between 9 am and 11.30 am
Wednesday and Friday afternoons - between 1.30 and 3.30 pm
Wednesday evenings 3.30 / 3.45 / 4 pm - 4.45 pm

Teaching Experience:

I have a wide background experience in teaching and education, having taught in five different schools in five different English education authorities, before becoming a School Link Officer / School Improvement Partner. I have held posts in large and small schools, with management experience in each, and I have taught children in all age-groups of primary, junior and 8-12 middle schools. I have, at one time or another, held particular responsibility for Curriculum Development, Maths, English, Science, Technology, ICT, PE, Art, French and Special Needs. I was Deputy Headteacher at two widely differing schools before becoming Headteacher of a small primary school. I maintained a teaching commitment of two to three days per week throughout my time as Headteacher of the school.

Tutoring Approach:

I base my approach to tutoring on an understanding of the individual needs of each student. I firmly believe that all children are capable of success. It is the tutor's role to find the most effective way of teaching for each individual child and to have an understanding of each child's preferred learning style. I always begin with an initial diagnosis based on discussion with the parents and an analysis of the student's current ability. Further sessions will concentrate on developing the skills of the student in line with a planned programme of work and targets, which has been agreed with the parents and student. I have a relaxed and friendly style with students but also have high expectations of their progress.

Personal Description:
I'm an enthusiastic and easy-going individual with extensive academic and teaching experience. I was awarded a PhD in politics in 2016 and currently work as a researcher for the NHS in the Leeds area.

I've studied politics, sociology and philosophy at the University of Westminster, the University of York and the University of Leeds. Both my PhD at Westminster and my MA at York were funded by scholarships and at Leeds, where I did my undergrad, I gained a prize for the highest mark in my graduate year, out of a pool of over 200 students.

Besides my academic work, I have worked for a number of public policy think-tanks, have experience of voluntary and charity work and enjoy a range of hobbies, including the guitar and sports.

Teaching Experience:

I have extensive experience of teaching and in 2015 received a university award for teaching excellence, voted by the students themselves. Over the past five years I have worked as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Westminster on the first year module "Introduction to Political Theory" and the second year module "Political Research Methods". The work involves planning lessons and tailoring them to the needs of my students, teaching and facilitating debate in class, and providing students with advice regarding their university work. I also have extensive experience of marking assessments and dissertations which stands me in good stead to give advice to university students.

Additionally, I have a TEFL qualification and before going to university I taught English for three months in Bolivia. I've since taught English in Israel and the Palestine. Furthermore, I worked as a guitar teacher for a number of years and have vast experience of giving presentations, lectures and seminars, both at university and in the workplace.

Tutoring Approach:

I tailor lessons to students' interests and needs, and try and make learning as fun as possible. Well structured and planned, the lessons proceed logically and the contents are explained as clearly and concisely as possible. Discussion and debate are actively sought. I also provide advice on generic academic skills such as researching, crafting an essay and delivering presentations.

Personal Description:
I am a 27 year old female, with a degree in English Literature, Film and Theatre and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Professional Acting.

I have a strong theatrical background, not only in acting, but also directing and producing. I love to travel, favourite places being Sri-Lanka and Australia. I am a food enthusiast: I love trying new foods, as well as cooking for my friends and family.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored several students through their GCSEs in English Language and Literature, always ensuring that I am up to date with changes to the curriculum and marking strategies. I am used to finding different methods of teaching to suit each student's needs.

I have worked as an English teacher in a school in China. While there I worked systematically through a curriculum with my class of 35 students, as well as giving them individual help with areas of personal difficulty. This meant I had to tailor my approach in order to meet each student's needs, as the class was mixed ability. It was a challenge to make sure no student was either overwhelmed or bored, but it allowed me to develop my skills and each student managed to flourish at their own pace.

Whilst at University I tutored others in my year who needed help with the phrasing of academic essays- in particular I assisted students with dyslexia who knew what they wanted to say, but had difficulty clarifying their point in writing. This was a very fulfilling role for me, as I was able to assist people I care about fulfil their academic potential.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a very patient, calm person. I like to find out what interests my students and, if possible, incorporate this into their learning so that they associate their studies with something they like, not something they dread. I would normally ask a student to complete a small task initially so that I can assess their working level, and then progress from there, working at a pace which challenges them without being overwhelming.

I truly believe that each student has the potential to excel in life through education - and I would love to play a part in helping them reach their maximum level.

Personal Description:
I am Spanish teacher living in London. I am really friendly, responsible and I will always love to learn as many languages as possible.

Teaching Experience:

I studied a degree on Translation and Interpreting so I have a good English and French. Two years ago, I ended my MA degree on Spanish language and culture which is mainly focused on teaching Spanish as a foreign language.

I have been an English assistant teacher in two Summer Camps for 4 to 6 year old children and also taught Spanish as a foreign language to Erasmus students coming to the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
I have also been personal tutor of many children between 5 and 15 years.

Tutoring Approach:

I really try to focus on a Communicative Method, I make sure grammar is learned but I do not focus on showing grammar as a separate subject which has to be learned by hard. I try to show real texts (news articles, stories, tales, etc) and once you are able to understand the vocabulary, you will notice how is grammar used in different contexts.
There is no sense of teaching a language without a real context, I try to avoid inventing sentences which have no meaning at all.

In case you wish to try different approaches, I have no inconvenience on adapting it to what you really want to do.

Personal Description:
I'm a flexible, energetic and dynamic tutor offering lessons in English, Violin and 11+ to students from primary age to A-level and beyond. I have a passion for English literature and music, and I love to teach.

As I have been finishing my PhD, I have gradually been taking on more pupils for private tuition. I specialize in bringing the academic study of English to life for school students by combining a dynamic and accessible approach with the exciting ideas and research I have experienced at university level.

Teaching Experience:

I have a range of classroom and 1-to-1 teaching experience. As an English tutor, I have worked with a range of students from primary to PhD level. I am experienced at preparing students for exams, 11+ and university entrance, including intensive revision work to prepare students for a particular exam.
I have also delivered the GCSE English curriculum to a home-schooled pupil as her only English teacher. At the University of St Andrews, I was employed for 3 years as a tutor for undergraduate students in the English and Music departments. Through my tutorials on essay writing skills, I was able to significantly improve the marks of my cohort of students, and I teach the same techniques to my pupils at school stage. After qualifying with the widely recognized CELTA certificate in English Language Teaching, I spent several summers teaching English language to classes of children and teenagers aged from 10 to 18.

Tutoring Approach:

Learning with a tutor can be much, much more fun than learning in school! And since literature is all about life, learning to critically read and interpret literary texts, whether at GCSE or undergraduate level, will open your eyes to look at the world in a new way. I love the fact that through my experience of university life as a student and teacher, I can fast-track my school-aged pupils to the skills and ideas they'll need at university and beyond. The study of English literature at university is a different world to that at school - I wish I had known at school how rich and interesting the subject was. Through my teaching, I aim to inspire my students not only to understand and appreciate the great works of literature that they study, but to use them to understand big ideas about history and society.

I am also keenly aware of the requirements of the various exam boards, and I tailor my approach to developing skills to excel in particular exams and beyond. I particularly enjoy preparing students for exams such as GCSE and A-level, and I am equally at home providing challenging debate to stretch the most gifted and talented pupils, or inspiring enthusiasm in students who want to improve their grades. One of the best things about private tuition is seeing my pupils develop their confidence, whether in musical performance or tackling the big ideas in works of literature.

As a violin teacher, I love to teach beginners of any age, but particularly young children. My lessons are lively, interactive and engaging, developing all-round musical ability in a way that is fun and motivating. I can also act as a practice buddy for any instrument, and assist with reading music, sight-reading, music theory and aural training skills.

Personal Description:
Hello there! My name is Sam and I'm a full time private tutor who has moved back to London this year. I completed a master's degree in maths at Leeds University and have been teaching ever since. I'm still very passionate about maths and am applying for a PhD to start in the next academic year. My personal time is taken up by studying the areas of maths I want to pursue (category theory and topos theory), learning more undergraduate maths courses so that I can tutor a wider number of areas, rock climbing, highlining and playing gigs. I also have a few maths related side projects such as co-writing a maths textbook aimed at those who have just finished their A levels, and error checking/giving feedback for a soon-to-be published book on topos theory by a researcher in Canada. I enjoy a productive life focussed around my passions of which teaching comes first, as I find nothing more satisfying than helping people and seeing their grades grow. I really appreciate you taking the time to see what I have to offer as a tutor, and hope to hear from you soon.

Teaching Experience:

Teaching in a variety of different areas and environments has been my primary source of work for nearly 8 years now. For the past year and a half since I finished my masters I have been a full time private tutor of maths, predominately working in Leeds. The variety of levels I've had the opportunity to teach has been exceptional. I have taught at GCSE, As, A and further maths level for school level maths along with teaching at every level of undergraduate mathematics, teaching both on a one to one basis and conducting group tutorials with groups of 20 second year students. In particular, it has been deeply gratifying to help foreign students secure undergraduate positions and students with health issues who have needed extra assistance due to being absent from school.
During my degree, I held weekly tutorials for the lower years and gave informal guitar lessons. During my gap year, I worked for six days a week as a climbing instructor for most of the year and taught guitar on my day off. It was over my A level years that I got my first teaching experience as a piano teacher.

Tutoring Approach:

One great difference and indeed benefit of being a private tutor over a teacher is the need to adapt to each individual student. I am in the great position of being able to focus on one student per lesson, and I wouldn't be doing the best work I can if I didn't take advantage of this. My style of teaching therefore revolves around learning from each lesson about the student's evolving strengths and weaknesses, so that I can focus my lesson planning around them for our next meeting. Along with this, I try to encourage students with positive reinforcement. Frankly speaking, maths is a scary subject for a lot of people and I have found that increasing a student's confidence in their ability does wonders for their grades, proving their confidence right. Patience and understanding are key to this form of encouragement. On top of all this, I have to take into account what level the student is studying at. Maths is a very different beast every single year, the challenge of understanding quadratic equations for the first time is very different in nature to understanding quotient groups for the first time, and so I change how I teach depending on the level and age of the student.

Personal Description:
I am a practising barrister in Belfast with a background in French Law and European Studies. As a practising barrister I have a wide range of legal experience across a number of sectors including Land Law, Contract Law, Criminal Law, Family Law and of course European Law. I lived in France for a year and completed a specialised Diploma in European Law. I can converse fluently in French and I have an excellent knowledge of written French and French Grammar.

I have bases in Ballymena and Belfast and my practice as a barrister takes me to all parts of the country. As a result, I am available to travel to a range of destinations. Please do get in contact to determine whether I can be of assistance.

Teaching Experience:

I have spent many years teaching a wide range of people from very young children to adults.I tutor 2-3 times weekly in addition to my practice as a barrister and find that my practical knowledge is of a huge assistance to all my pupils in assisting them to reach their maximum potential.

Tutoring Approach:

I approach each pupil differently according to their personality, skill set and ability to progress. I find that generally no two pupils are the same therefore one-to-one tutoring invariable yields the best possible results. However I demand absolute commitment from each pupil and expect everyone to fulfil their potential, regardless of their age or experience.

As i have a wealth of practical knowledge, I find I can easily distill difficult concepts for students who are struggling with confusing legalese and complex academic arguments. I can help with assignments, practice papers, model answers, tutorials and more difficult concepts that arise in lectures.

Personal Description:
I am someone who has always been drawn to working with children because I am generally passionate about their education and development. I have routinely worked with children in different capacities from volunteering with a SEN playgroup, to working as both a tutor and teacher. I am an easy-going person who finds it easy to relate to families from all walks of life, and take great joy in getting to know people.

Teaching Experience:

I have two years' experience of teaching children of all ages from KS1 all the way up to A-Level. Half of that time was spent working for a private tuition company, while the other half was spent working as a supply teacher. I have also invigilated a number of exams including: 11+ selection tests, internal end of year exams, GCSE exams and A-Level exams.

The benefit of working for both a private tuition company and a school is that I know how to engage with children and young people on a personal level whilst intimately knowing the expectations that their teachers will have. Finally whilst I lack formal teaching qualifications, I have benefited from in-house training sessions and have wealth of experience of educating a number of different groups of children.

Tutoring Approach:

When teaching I tailor my approach to the needs and ability of the child because every child learns differently. I try to get to know my students personally so that I can understand what motivates them to learn and, likewise, what inhibits them. Some children lack confidence, others lack a challenge, some are nervous about exams whilst others couldn't care less about them! Therefore I endeavour to provide a personal learning experience that is going to develop the children I teach both academically and personally.
