Personal Description:
I am a caring, enthusiastic and bubbly person, who is passionate about working with, and teaching children and young adults.

It is my personal goal to ensure all of my pupils are encouraged and inspired during their lessons. I take great pride in how my tutorials are delivered, working really hard to provide all students with the opportunity to learn in a fun, safe and respectful environment. I aim to improve the confidence of each student in their specific subject area, and am devoted to helping your child achieve great results in their homework, coursework and exams.

It is important that I offer a respectful, trust-worthy relationship between myself, my pupil and their parents also.

I have a vast amount of teaching experience and run a successful tutoring business, providing an excellent service to all of my pupils.

I also have around 7 years experience caring for babies and children.

After taking a small career break to raise my own child and completing further personal training, I am excited to be able to offer my tutoring services once again.

Teaching Experience:

October 2009-2013
Private Tutor/Business Owner - From taking on my first pupil to building a successful tutoring service, I have privately tutored around 30+ pupils and have also mentored two tutors over the course of four years. Teaching pupils ranging from Key Stage 1 through to GCSE level, provided me with first-hand experience of the responsibilities of working with children and young adults and has allowed me to encourage pupils to learn in a style individual to them.

January 2012 - December 2012
Drama Teacher - Providing educational and inspiring Drama and Musical Theatre lessons to local school pupils aged 2-19. I provided classes teaching and developing drama skills and techniques and helped many students prepare for auditions. I was also a part of the creative process for school productions. My aim for every lesson was to inspire my pupils during their performing arts journey. I also used drama skills and techniques in a therapeutic manner with the intention of helping my pupils deal with issues such as bullying and a lack of confidence.

April 2008 - October 2008
Diploma in Child Psychology - I studied this particular subject due to my interest in how children's behaviour, reactions, thoughts and emotions develop through the early years of life. I enjoyed this topic and have learnt how important a child's early years are. Not only am I able to understand the environmental and emotional needs and wants of a child, but I also understand the support, patience, respect and care that has to be given to the child and their parents throughout their development.

November 2005 - May 2007
A PAUSE - In my first year of college I trained to become an A PAUSE mentor. Once I had successfully completed my training I travelled to local schools and presented the A PAUSE programme to young adults aged 13-16. In my second year of college I continued presenting the programme and also went on to train other college students aged 16-17 to do the same. Presenting the A PAUSE programme took me out of my comfort zone and encouraged me to respond quickly and prompt thought throughout the classroom.

September 2004 - 2007
Volunteer at a Local Church - I volunteered at a local church youth group which involved being a general helper, organising games and entertainment and also supporting and tutoring the youth with their school work. I have helped out at many of the church performances and have also helped to run the Sunday morning creche. This role provided me with the experience of working with children and young adults. I also took part in the 'Safe to grow' programme - designed to maintain the security of children, young adults and their youth leaders within the youth group and creche.

Tutoring Approach:

I strongly believe that all children and young adults should be taught in a style that is individual to them. With this in mind I make sure I establish my pupil's learning style before beginning our lessons. All lessons are then adapted to my pupils chosen subject and their specific way of learning. I make sure that the relevant information is learnt at the correct level, often in accordance with the UK National Curriculum, but do so in a way that is interesting and fun. Above all I make sure that I spend time listening to my pupil in order to address any subject difficulties, and continue to address such concerns until my pupil feels they understand them better. In cases where children over-achieve the work I have set them, I would then make it my aim to push them to complete and understand work of a higher level.

Personal Description:
My name is Hywel and I've been tutoring biology since 2002 after receiving my bachelor of science at Reading University. I have completed a PGCE (post graduate certificate of education) in further education and lectured for three and a half years in anatomy and physiology. I've always loved tutoring and helping my students so I've set up this site to aid all those struggling in biology! For the last three years I have tutored GCSE maths, having studied statistics at university. Finally I tutor in chess, teaching the tactics and strategies of the game, an interest of mine which I have brought to several private schools in the area.

I commute within 8 miles and also tutor online via Skype at £22 for an hour.

Teaching Experience:

I've lectured in several colleges, including anatomy and physiology at Afan College for four years. For the last four years I have taught GCSE maths, GCSE biology and GCSE environmental and land based science at a home education group. My private tuition experience in biology is extensive, having carried it out for fourteen years.

Tutoring Approach:

I tailor lessons to student's needs, making sure revision and exam techniques match knowledge and understanding. Work is carried out by both tutor and student to ensure a rise in grades. Seeing my students enjoy their work as their grades increase is one of the most rewarding parts to tuition and I bring this enthusiasm to all my lessons.

Personal Description:
I am 54 now and consider myself to have reached a point where I have experience to share and yet still enjoy working with the students and helping them to get to their own potential. I am family orientated, considered by my friends and colleagues to be warm and nurturing.

I am passionate about my students reaching their potential, even if their starting point is not deemed to be high by academic standards.

I am used to a wide variety of challenges and opportunites having worked with special needs for many years.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught through all the age ranges starting off as a Internationally Qualified Montessori Teacher, working right through to University level as an accelerated learning practitioner (I trained with Tony Buzan). My core specialism is Dyslexia and Special Needs. I have worked with home schooled children for many years as well as continuing to do regular home tutoring after school hours and some Saturday mornings. I still run Montessori workshops particularly for those involved in homehomeschooling. I am also a Qualified and Insured Naturopath and teach a wide variety of alternative health and well-being workshops, as in my experience, health and well being are directly related to the students ability to learn effectively; so many students who have experienced challenges in assimilating learning often are found to have some form of health or allergy issues. .

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer a holistic style of teaching, using where possibly a multi - sensorial and multi -discipline approach. I believe that a good relationship with the student, which, while still being professional, engenders a sense of trust, caring and belief in the students ability to rise higher than they thought they could. I feel that one has to enable the student to find out where their true base line is through good assessment, then allow them to work on their challenges through the utilization of their strengths. I believe in supporting the student in developing their own, successful and sophisticated learning strategies which are unique to their learning style.
I have a current enhanced DBS certificate and am starting up a Montessori childminding facility.

Personal Description:
I have just returned from a year as a Graduate music tutor at Wanganui Collegiate School, New Zealand. Before this, I graduated from the University of Oxford in June 2010, having studied Music at Oriel College under the tutorship of Dr. David Maw. I was educated as a music scholar at Eton College, Windsor before moving to the Perse School, Cambridge for sixth form study. Aside of a huge passion and enthusiasm for music study and tuition, I am an avid sportsman having represented both my university and county youth level in cricket. I also played a number of sports for my college during my time at Oriel. Currently, I am studying for a Masters in Musicology at Durham University with a specialism in the orchestral music of Gerald Finzi. In addition, I am also the Senior Organ Scholar at St. John's College. I have recently accepted a teaching post at Brighton College to begin in September 2012.

Teaching Experience:

Having just returned from a year as a graduate music tutor at Wanganui Collegiate School in New Zealand, I feel that I am in touch with both school teaching and more specifically, more private music tuition. During my year experience in New Zealand, I engaged very actively in the life of the music department. I have experience of basic music tuition with teaching of introductory concepts in the subject such as basic notation, theory, instrumentation and historical issues.
Further up the age spectrum, I have taught specific a level modules in a seminar type situation. With a completed Undergraduate Music degree from the University of Oxford, I have an extensive knowledge of theory, analysis, music history and specific tutoring skills in the study of the clarinet, piano and bassoon. I have taught music theory, clarinet and piano privately for 4 years.
This said, I am very happy to tutor at all levels, aiming to pass on my keen enthusiasm in the subject onto other keen and ambitious musicians whether they be starting out in the subject, or looking for extra assistance at A level and/or degree level. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at any time.

Tutoring Approach:

My tutoring style is designed to generate as much active involvement by the student as possible. Tutoring time is balanced according to the needs of the client between examination coaching (handwriting, mnemonic techniques, time/mark allocation discipline, revision styles) and subject content (probing and consolidating background knowledge, instilling enthusiasm, analysing key aspects of each topic).

In addition, I believe in addressing the needs of each child individually and working with them to help them understand how to work through a problem for themselves. Confidence is often the key and I am keen to work with them to improve the confidence in their own abilities in a varied and fun atmosphere.

Client Reviews:

'Lisa was honestly the best tutor! She is a highly knowledgeable teacher of Physics and helped my daughter really understand her subject. She was great at explaining everything. She definitely helped my daughter raise her grade GCSE. I would highly recommend Lisa' From Alghamadi, Score 5/5, August 2016 (GCSE Physics)

'Lisa has tutored our daughter for the last two years. When our daughter first began working with Lisa she was working from a below average baseline and had little confidence. What a difference an hour a week with a capable maths tutor makes as our daughter has recently secured a grade B in her GCSE maths -Grade E to Grade B that's some going!! All credit for our daughter's amazing progress goes to Lisa and her patient, friendly, but tenacious teaching style. We are so pleased that we found Lisa, she has been an absolute Godsend! Highly recommended!' From Gail Baker, Score 5/5, August 2016 (GCSE Maths)

'Lisa has supported our daughter with Maths throughout year 11. She made her feel she could ask for help as many times as needed and was always patient and supportive. Our daughter has had several 'eureka' moments with Lisa in which she actually truly understood concepts she has struggled with at school. Lisa definitely motivates her students to believe in themselves and encourages them to reach their full potential. We highly recommend working with Lisa.' From Elly Dolan, Score 5/5, August 2016 (GCSE Maths)

'Absolutely fantastic tutor. Lisa helped me to get 2 A*'s and an A in Maths and science, which allowed me to get into the college I had applied for. I would definitely recommend Lisa to anyone who wants to achieve the best that they can, at any level.' From Jack, Score 5/5, August 2015 (GCSE Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Additional Maths & Further Maths)

'My daughter has just gained A's in both Physics and Chemistry at GCSE. These are not easy subjects and finding Lisa has made a massive difference. She explains difficult areas and makes the subject become alive and understandable. This has given her confidence and fortunately she covered areas that the school had not and that actually came up in the exam! She has a lovely auora about her and can make anyone feel calm and relaxed and ready to learn. She is a great communicator, organised and efficient and worth her weight in gold! many thanks Lisa', From Tracey, Score 5/5, August 2014 (GCSE Physics and Chemistry)

'Lisa taught my son and I am so glad I found her. She is highly intelligent and I soon realised my son was in very professional hands which was very comforting as we drove one hour every week sometimes twice a week to get to her. Lisa has a lovely personality and would make anyone feel comfortable the moment you meet her. Her schedule is extremely busy and she is very much in demand. So don't delay if you want to grab a spot in her diary. A very happy family. Worth every penny.' From Yvette, Score 5/5, September 2014 (GCSE Maths, Physics & Chemistry)

My daughter came on in leaps and bounds . Highly recommended.' From Angie, Score 5/5, August 2014 (GCSE Maths, Physics and Chemistry)

'My son saw improved GCSE results - he got an A* in physics and an A in chemistry having underachieved in his mock exams. He liked Lisa straight away and her teaching had an immediate effect on school tests. He can now go on to sixth form with increased confidence and belief in his own abilities.' From Mrs Rayner, Score 5/5, August 2014 (IGCSE Physics and IGCSE Chemistry)

'I would like to say Lisa is a great private tutor. She has helped my son over the last year achieve a C in maths when his last 2 mock exams were grades D and E. Having the one to one sessions with Lisa really helped my son understand certain parts of maths he was struggling with at school. She was very professional and accommodating when I couldn't make certain appointments. I would like to thank Lisa for everything and say if you are looking for a private tutor then I would highly recommend Lisa.' From Donna, August 2014 (GCSE Maths)

Personal Description:
Hello,

My name is Ina and I teach languages from home in my spare time and mostly on weekends.

Teaching Experience:

During my studies in high school I had the opportunity to gain a considerable work experience in various well known and reputable companies in my country. I worked as a language tutor and interpreter in two language centres, a translation agency and a real estate company. In addition, I had the opportunity to work as an office administrator in an international association, where I was given the responsibility for the organisation of cultural events and campaigns, recruitment and management of Italian tutors, as well as for communication and assistance to clients and members of the organisation. I currently work in the field of HR, but as teaching is an everlasting passion, I like to develop myself and help students in my spare time.

Tutoring Approach:

I am eager to discover the best approach for each individual and task and work accordingly. I have always applied my creativity and my work experience and people skills have helped develop this further.

Personal Description:
I have a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Aberdeen and before that I got an MChem in Chemistry. I also have extensive knowledge of Biology until A Level and Physics until GCSE. I currently work for an educational publisher working on international education books up to A Level.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a tutor in the past and I have tutored primarily university students (4 years experience) but I do have experience in tutoring school level students in all three sciences. I have successfully tutored students to grade A standard at A Level and GCSE, with one student gaining an A*.

Tutoring Approach:

Due to work commitments I have been away from tutoring for a while (around 4 years) but it is something that I wish to get back into as I found it very rewarding. During a previous role I was selected as a mentor for new graduate trainees which ignited my desire to become a tutor again.

I tend to structure the sessions depending on the needs to the individual. I am happy to simply go over a topic or come up with sample tests - I am totally flexible and will aim to cater for your requirements.

Personal Description:
I have worked in the educational sector both in the UK and overseas. I teach children of primary and secondary school age in both mainstream and special schools. I teach Mathematics, English and Science.

I use the Teacch, Pecs and Makaton to teach individuals whom I support as a small group and on one to one. I recently completed a Makaton training for professionals.

I am conversant with the educational curriculum.

I do have good communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to motivate children to achieve their highest potential.

My passion about helping children of all ages and abilities to learn have always added value because, I aim to satisfy the academic needs of each child.

I am the owner and manager of a new business that allows children of primary and secondary school age the opportunity to enjoy the facilities of supplementary educational services. Aimed at distinctively making a difference by developing a child's academic potential that will help him or her make that connection with the real world.

Receiving tuition at the centre cost £15.00 per hour but if I have to travel to pupil`s home, tuition cost is £25.00 per hour.

Contact me and discover how to invest in your child's future.

Teaching Experience:

I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Education. This qualification has given me a general overview of how to identify misconceptions children have in learning the concepts and, methods to devise different ways to deal with it. Also, employing different ways of representing the same knowledge because, there are more than one way in the teaching and learning experience.

In addition, I have a Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Studies in Education (Inclusion and Special Education Needs). With this qualification, I am well equipped to devise, implement and evaluate systems for identifying, assessing and reviewing students' special education needs. I ensure children have conceptual knowledge which will help them make progress.

Also, I do have a Master degree in Special Education Needs. This has further foster my understanding of children with specific learning needs and how to ensure that their learning objectives are met.

Thus, my university and work experience have created in me an enthusiasm to develop an environment for learning, that would make a huge impact in the lives of all children by using my skills and experiences to help them develop to their full potential for learning.

Tutoring Approach:

I employ personalised teaching technique that is tailored to meet the need of the individual child.

Personal Description:
After spending some time working in the IT industry, including a spell being practically a one-man IT department for a small business, I discovered a love of - and I like to think a knack for - guiding and supporting the learning of others through teaching and training. Initially this was in the IT/Computer Science fields, but more recently I have diversified into Maths. Seeing the "lightbulb moment", when a learner finally conquers a problem, is an undoubted highlight of my job. Away from teaching, I am a music buff, and I also love to discover new places and meet new people.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching professionally as a college lecturer since 2007 and privately since 2014, teaching Maths at KS3 and GCSE level, and IT from KS3 to BTEC Level 3. While I love the 'cut and thrust' of a classroom, I find private tuition to be particularly rewarding - being able to devote more time to each learner can make a real difference to those who might otherwise get overlooked in a large class, and only serves to increase yet further the satisfaction in seeing them succeed.

Tutoring Approach:

I can readily adapt teaching styles to fit the needs of individual learners. I recognise the importance of having a Plan B and trying different approaches to suit different learning styles. Learner input is more than welcome on this. If you know what techniques work well for you, feel free to let me know!

I am also a firm believer that successful learning depends on four main factors - hard work, willingness, perseverance and self-belief. Students often have plenty of the first three, but may lack a little of the latter. I see my role as being about encouragement as well as teaching, so as well as offering support and guidance, I will also encourage you to have confidence in your ability. Believe that you CAN succeed, and it becomes much more likely that you WILL.

Personal Description:
I am a Geography student at UEA; my subject puts me in contact with both sides of education; from the sciences and mathematics to literature and philosophy. I am a kind, patient person who does his best to help others succeed. I am 18 and in my first year which puts me relatively close in age to GSCE students which allows me to connect with them more and therefore teach better.

Teaching Experience:

I have done work experience in a Primary School which taught me a lot about the practicalities of teaching. It was here I learned I had a knack for encouraging others to work and supporting them with their studies. I have been asked throughout my education to help my peers, which has given me the skills to support others with work they do not understand or need support with.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that learning should be made as fun and applicable as possible - which is where school fails. The best way to engage someone is to put what you are trying to teach them into "their language". Maths for its own sake is easy to take as dull and pointless, but showing someone that you can use it in a way that they find interesting and relevant makes them more likely to engage. This is true for any subject, and is difficult to do with a class of 30 but much easier to do one to one.
