Personal Description:
I am an experienced primary school teacher and Headteacher with significant teaching expertise at KS1 and KS2. I am also a qualified SENCO and have vast experience in SEN. I am a Headteacher in an excellent local school and set high standards for all my pupils. I am able to offer tuition in English, Maths and Science at both key stages. I am based in Epping but can travel to you by negotiation. I can provide references on request from past and present clients who have achieved and continue to achieve success in their studies at all levels. I enjoy seeing my pupils make rapid progress and achieving academic success.

Teaching Experience:

I specialise in Entrance Examinations at 7+ and 11+, SEN and tuition for pupils who lack confidence and skills and need support to improve. I have vast experience teaching within excellent local schools and I am currently a Headteacher in a large Junior School. I teach children on a 1-2-1 basis to ensure that they receive the additional input that they need in order to achieve. I specialise in assisting children who lack confidence in specific areas and I am able to assist these children in improving their skill levels within their own school. I can provide excellent references on request from many happy pupils and parents.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a patient and understanding tutor with the ability to communicate effectively with both adults and children. My aim is to ensure that pupils develop additional skills and increased confidence in their studies. I make my lessons fun and enjoyable for pupils so that they are able to enjoy learning and are keen to attend my tutoring sessions. I keep parents updated on their children's progress on a regular basis and encourage children to share worries about specific subject areas so that we can explore them together.

Personal Description:
I was born and brought up in the North East of England. I have always enjoyed Maths and was awarded a number of prizes for my mathematical ability during my education, including achieving one of the highest A-level scores in the country. I completed a Maths degree at Newcastle University and decided to combine my ability in Maths with my passion for working with young people and follow teaching as a career.

Teaching Experience:

I completed my PGCE at Newcastle University in 2006 and have been teaching GCSE and A Level Maths since I qualified. I am currently Deputy Director of Sixth Form with responsibility for raising achievement at Key Stage 5, as well as overseeing Maths and Further Maths at A Level. My A Level and GCSE results have over the past few years have shown consistently high levels of 'value added', particularly with students aiming for the higher grades.

Outside of school, I have worked as an examiner for Edexcel marking GCSE and A-Level papers which I feel gives me invaluable knowledge of the examination process. I have been tutoring a selection of GCSE and A-Level students for the past 5 years and have achieved many positive results. One of my particular strengths is the confidence I give students in order to overcome their fears or weaknesses in this subject.

Tutoring Approach:

I understand the varying needs of pupils and can adjust my tutoring style accordingly.

I believe the best way students learn is through careful and detailed explanation followed by questions to consolidate each topic. Setting homework is therefore an important part of the tutoring process.

To prepare students for exams I can produce booklets of past exam questions organised by topic and teach students the best way to answer each question. I will also spend time going through past papers in order to improve their exam technique.

Personal Description:
I am a native French speaker, aged 21, currently working in a school in Gateshead as a French Language Assistant, so I am already used to teaching my own language. I also aim to become an English teacher after completing my teaching degree in France. I will be in Newcastle until the end of May, when my contract with the school ends. After this I will go back to France to finish my studies.

I am passionate about literature and music, and would be able to teach cultural aspects of France if that is what you are looking for. I have also always loved languages since I was a child, I learnt English and German from the age of 10, I also did some Spanish and Russian at the end of secondary school, and I have been trying to learn Italian for the last few months. I would be glad to pass on this love for languages.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently teaching French in Gateshead as a French Language Assistant. As part of my teaching degree in France I also did a short internship in a French secondary school.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very open for the way of teaching, depending on you needs and the skills you want to acquire (grammar, reading, speaking, cultural aspects of the language). I can bring along teaching resources if needed. I would be happy to discuss your needs to be able to adapt to the way of tutoring that suits you.

Having graduated less than 6 months ago, I was a student and school pupil very recently too, meaning I can offer a different perspective and approach to most teachers and textbooks.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring since my final year of school and always with good results. Most importantly, I have always managed to build good relationships with my students and establish the relaxed and informal atmosphere so important for productive learning.

Tutoring Approach:

Everyone learns differently and I will find the best way for you, focusing on understanding rather than rote learning. This is much easier and more effective in a relaxed and easy-going atmosphere, something I try to establish in every session: learning doesn't have to be a chore!

I am a practicing visual artist, community arts worker and educator working with and teaching across a variety of media including; painting, drawing and illustration, mixed media and collage, graphic design, digital photography and film making. I am a visual arts graduate and studied an MA in participatory and community arts at Goldsmiths College. I provide both practical and academic tutoring in a number of arts related subjects, for school, further education and higher education students as well as adult learners.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked in various community arts and educational settings for 10 years, facilitating arts teaching sessions across a wide range of ages, abilities and backgrounds. In addition to one-to-one tutoring students at their own homes, I have also taught in schools, libraries, galleries, museums, community centres, health & social care settings, charities, youth groups, refugee centres and prisons. Tutoring Approach:

I like to involve my students as much as possible in their own learning, facilitating a two-way interactive process enabling the student to take ownership of their own learning plan. I like to spend the first session with my students discussing their individual needs and goals, and deciding together on the best way to structure their learning to give them the best possible chance of producing their best work. I am a patient and understanding tutor, with a real passion and enthusiasm for my subject matter and a strong desire to help my students succeed.

Personal Description:
My name is Leo and I am an outgoing and friendly recent graduate with a First Class degree in History and Politics from Oxford University. I currently live in Ealing, West London. I am looking to tutor children and young adults in various humanities subjects during the year 2017-18.

I have thoroughly enjoyed studying at undergraduate level, and am looking to tutor to help fund a Master's degree in Modern History in 2018-19.

My interests outside academia include football (a keen and long-suffering Bristol Rovers fan), politics, walking in the countryside, and going on train rides to unusual and exciting places (most recently, a trip to the 'Far North Line' beyond Inverness, Scotland!).

Teaching Experience:

I have worked with children and young adults in various capacities:

Wadham College, Oxford, Academic Mentor for Politics Summer School (Aug. 2016)
Week-long residential summer school introducing deprived sixth form students to the study of politics at Oxford.
o 24/7 academic and pastoral support for 16-18 year-olds.
o Helped in seminars run by Oxford academics exploring the relationship between language and political power.
o Provided advice for applications to higher education institutions, including Oxbridge.

Oxford Hub, Schools Plus Volunteer (Feb. - Jun. 2016)
Tutored GCSE pupils at Oxford Academy, Cowley, once a week as part of student-run volunteering organisation.
o Tutored GCSE pupils in revision and exam practice sessions, both one-to-one and in groups.
o Engaged successfully with struggling students. Received positive feedback.

Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, Student Ambassador (Oct. 2015 - Jul. 2017)
o Ran an 'admissions preparation day' and practice interviews for disadvantaged applicants.
o Co-ran Q&A sessions for potential applicants, received positive feedback. Several of the students applied to LMH.

Private Tutor to 11-year-old for school entrance exam (2013-2014)
o Tutored once a week for two terms in verbal reasoning and mathematics
o Successful record: the pupil received a place at her chosen school

I have full DBS clearance for working with young people and vulnerable adults, and have been in the update service since 2016.

Tutoring Approach:

In my tutorials I look to enthuse my pupils with a genuine interest in the subject, and help them think about topics in new ways. I believe it is important to maximize their input in the session, encouraging them to explore their ideas and better understand the subject at their own pace.

My previous experience has been in tutoring pupils with set work, helping them complete assignments set by school teachers and exam revision. This can be supplemented by additional material such as revision booklets, additional books on specific subjects (especially useful at A Level), and relevant online content.

Above all, I aim to fulfil the brief given to me by parents and carers. This may be anything from boosting confidence and performance for upcoming school entrance or public exams, to providing a regular work structure, or simply offering guidance and encouragement with homework. Whatever your needs, I will work hard to see the best development outcomes and help all my pupils reach their potential.
