Personal Description:
After graduating from Trinity College Oxford with a first class Masters in Engineering I reflected upon the opportunities education had afforded me, the horizons it broadened and the skills it had developed. It was such a valuable gift I decided to teach. I have also had a broad range of other career experience from healthcare to investment banking, this helps me to offer practical advice and guidance to A Level students considering their career.

Teaching Experience:

I've now taught in a variety of schools from an inner-city London school to more recently completing a period as Head of Physics in the Middle East. I now work as a Physics teacher at a top independent school is West London. I have tutored for over seven years, gaining increasing satisfaction from watching young peoples' mind develop and confidence grow.

I am an exam board examiner and moderator, which is a great insight into how to prepare pupils for examinations as well as address their wider educational needs. Education is a crucial part of any persons' life and as such I approach tutoring with both rigour and passion!

In addition to helping student achieve their best grades at GCSE, IGCSE and A Level, I have also been successful in tutoring students for common entrance. I have helped students secure places at Winchester, Westminster and Eton.

Tutoring Approach:

Building self confidence and fostering a love for the subject is my overall aim. To do this I endeavour to establish a close working relationship with each tutee based on trust and their confidence in me to facilitate their exam success as well as address their wider educational needs. Thought process, rather than content, lies at the heart of my ambition to develop self sufficient learners yet I appreciate than content and technique cannot be understated when preparing for exams.

Personal Description:
A maths graduate from the University of Liverpool. Since graduating I have gained significant experience in the commercial, education and charity sectors. a former Commercial director of a regional airport and later having set up the School of Artisan Food I have a wide range of work and life experience which all provide very useful material for my teaching.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience of private tuition dating back to my time at University.

In recent years, I have taught Finance at the University of Derby and my module enjoyed one of the highest pass rates for the year.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is to help the student understand the subject, and not only understand the subject but also how the subject is applied in real life, and indeed to their own lives. I have found this really helps the student to be able to grasp the subject.

We all want exam results, but I like the students to understand what we are doing as this way they get skills that will stay with them long after the exams are over.

I am quite an engaged tutor who is responsible and adaptable to the student. I do not have a one size fits all mentality, in fact it is because I don't have this I enjoy private tutoring. I like to work with the students and build their strengths and help them with any difficulties they may be having.

Personal Description:
****Available in the Coventry/ Warwickshire/ Birmingham area from 1st July 2017 until 15th September 2017 for summer holidays tuition****

Currently studying towards a PhD in English Literature, with previous tutoring experience, I am offering English Literature and English Language tuition for GCSE, A level, Undergraduate and adult learners. My approach to tutoring is friendly and supportive, aiming to maximise the students' potential.

I possess a Masters in World Literature obtained from the University of Warwick and a 2:1 degree in English Literature, obtained from DeMontfort University, Leicester. I am an academic who has spoken at conferences and published articles.

My strongest skills include:
Developing essay writing
How to approach English exam paper questions effectively
How to revise for English exams effectively
How to analyse a text
Developing effective critical writing for English literature essays
Improving grammar, spelling and sentence structure

Teaching Experience:

Since moving to Leeds in 2016, I have tutored GCSE, A level, University Undergraduate and Masters Degree level students. All of my students have developed their skills, improved coursework and essays and become more prepared for exams. My students' feedback so far has commended my 'professionable', 'knowledgable' and 'patient' nature. Specifically, I have developed analytic poetry and prose skills, helped translate texts from foreign languages into English, taught effective English revision tactics, improved and edited coursework, and proof read my student's work.

In 2015 I tutored a sixth form student in AS English Language for 3 months, practising exam papers once a week. The student went on to achieve a grade B, an improvement on the mock exam.

In the summer term, 2015, I completed a 6 week placement at Ernesford Grange Community Academy as a Teaching Assistant. I passed a CRB check to undertake this voluntary work. I helped Year 10 students develop their GCSE coursework and worked on improving spelling and grammar with small groups of Year 8 students.

Tailored to the aims of the student (e.g achieving an 'A*' grade) I will focus on exam paper practice, developing coursework skills and essay practice. By identifying the student's main weaknesses I will work on developing those skills, setting out objectives to achieve by the end of the hour and setting additional work if needed.

I will identify the student's main areas for development and improve these skills using various exercises and tactics. I really love books, and this enthusiasm makes my sessions effective and enjoyable!
