Personal Description:
I am a friendly, approachable person with many years of language learning experience so I know myself how hard it can feel at times when learning a language!
I hold a BA in Modern Language Studies (French & Spanish) and a Certificate in Italian with the Open University.
I have A levels in both French [B] and Spanish [B] as well as GCSEs.

Teaching Experience:

I have spent 3 months living and voluntarily teaching English in Costa Rica.

I spent close to a year weekly voluntarily teaching local immigrants to communicate in English.

I spent 2 years working in a secondary school as a Learning Support Assistant for children with Special Educational Needs.

Since 2012, I have been working for Lindsay Does Languages, my own language tuition business. I now tutor online.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that rows and rows of vocab are not only monotonous but also repetitive, and dare I say it, boring!
There are many more fun and varied ways to teach and learn a language. It's important to remember that everyone has different learning styles and what works with one brilliantly, may go straight over an other's head! However, a positive and energetic approach is always necessary.

Personal Description:
My name is Dave, and I live in the Inverness area. I have a degree in History (Hons), and my area of expertise is UK and European social history from 1700. I have also studied US history, Scottish history, and European political history.

I also have a Masters Degree in Employment Law and Practice through the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen.

In my spare time I coach school football, and have done so for 8 years.

Teaching Experience:

While I have no formal teaching experience, I have home tutored several children of friends. I have also coached hundreds of children up to age 16, in football lessons. As head coach for the local school, I have taught not only technical skills to children, but just as importantly, instilled a sense of self belief, and confidence, in their abilities. The confidence to express an opinion is vitally important and I do believe that, when it comes to history, belief in ability in expressing one's own viewpoint is crucial.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to encourage self belief, and achieve this through a relaxed, proactive approach to the subject matter. I can critically analyse a students written work, and suggest ways of making those all important changes in order to achieve higher grades.

Personal Description:
Graduate medical student and professional biology, mathematics, UKCAT and medical admissions tutor with 9+ years tutoring experience.

I have a first class BSc (Hons) from the University of Edinburgh in Developmental and Cell Biology, and I have worked teaching science and tutoring individuals since I was an undergraduate student. I have experience tutoring individuals aged 14 to 30 of all levels and abilities in both group and 1-to-1 settings, and I cover material ranging from National 3-5/GCSE level up to undergraduate senior honours. I am fully up-to-date on the SQA Curriculum for Excellence (CfE), and have experience tutoring CfE biology, human biology and mathematics at all levels, and chemistry and physics to National 5/GCSE.

In addition to these traditional tutoring services, I also run UKCAT tutoring over the summer months (June - August) for prospective UK medical and dental students. As a graduate medical student myself, I know the unique and daunting challenge these entrance exams pose to prospective medical and dental students of all ages and abilities, however from personal experience I know that they can be overcome through structured study and practice just like any other exam. I re-sit the UKCAT myself every year in order to keep up to date with changes and trends, most recently scoring an average of 815 in July 2016. As of April 2017 I have tutored 23 students through the UKCAT and medical or dental admissions process, and of those 100% gained at least 1 interview for medicine or dentistry and 96% were able to secure an offer. I also offer ongoing support for prospective medical and dental students throughout the application process if desired, including advice on entry, interview preparation and personal statement guidance and support at no extra cost.

Teaching Experience:

9 years' experience working as a biology and human biology tutor for the SQA curriculum from National 5s to Advanced Highers
4 years' experience working as a UKCAT tutor. Most recent UKCAT score = 815 (sat in July 2016)
4 years' experience working as a Science Communicator for the Edinburgh International Science Festival
3 years' experience working as a University Academic Support Worker at the University of Edinburgh
2 summer's spent working as a science and first-aid teacher at summer camps in the USA

I have a number of additional references and email addresses of past tutee's that are available on request, and an up-to-date Enhanced Disclosure Scotland as required for both my work as a tutor and my studies in medical school.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that the key to a successful tutoring relationship is mutual respect and trust - trust in the tutor that they are both knowledgeable about the subject and confident in their ability to educate, and trust in the tutee that they work diligently and to the best of their ability. I see the role of a tutor as not just that of an educator, but also as a facilitator of self-directed learning, ensuring that material is covered thoroughly, methodically and repeatedly over the course of the year. By tailoring my sessions to individual learning styles and remaining flexible, I hope to constantly challenge and push my tutee's throughout our time together so that come crunch time they feel calm, confident and prepared for their exams.

Personal Description:
I am a recent Cass Business School MSc Graduate in field of Supply Chain. My BSc is in Economics, Finance and Management. I have a background in social and commercial entrepreneurship having worked in several start-ups and ngos.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching English as a second language in Malaga Spain for 5+ years.

In Malaga, Spain there is a shortage of learning opportunities and availability of English tutors. I recognised that as a native speaker I could dedicate my spare time to tutoring students who wished to improve their conversational English. I taught on average 8-10 students a week. Ages varying mostly between 4-16 with the occasional adult learner.

As a fluent Spanish speaker I am now offering tuition for individuals seeking to develop their grammar or conversational skills in the Spanish language (Castellano).

Tutoring Approach:

As I mostly worked with children I used my creative technique to develop interactive and fun learning games to maintain the children's attention and maximise their learning. My teaching approach has been very popular in the past that I've had a long waiting list.

My method usually consists of first identifying the level and requirements of my tutoree and then developing a session outline based on the individual's needs and preferences.
