I have substantial experience of one -to- one teaching and coaching with students and managers in a work environment. Teaching Experience:

In 2010-2012 I was the initiator of a volunteer project called 'Fairy tales in Pictures'. The project involved working, communicating and interacting with children with learning difficulties, playing games with them and teaching them to tackle different tasks. This was an opportunity to develop my communication and listening skills regarding various kinds of people, becoming extremely aware of the difficulties children can have with learning and understanding new things, and how these difficulties can be tackled.
I have helped my 11-year-old sister with her maths and English language-related lessons over the years. This has helped me understand children better and sense when they are in need for more training and explanation in particular areas. I have also helped friends' children with their problems, offering help, guidance and advice.

Tutoring Approach:

The key method to learning mathematics is by solving problems and dealing with examples. My approach is to give a clear explanation on the theory and then focus on different types of examples to help children understand things through practice. After several examples, I encourage children to attempt problems themselves at first, then ask questions and give small hints, guiding the child to obtain the correct answer as independently as possible. I give homework for children to practice their newly acquired knowledge, and I check if they've done the homework correctly on the next lesson.

Personal Description:
I am a third year medical student at Imperial College London. I am very approachable and patient when it comes to working with kids. Having only just left school and achieved excellent results in both GCSE's and A-levels, I know what it requires to bring the best out of a pupil, and that with hard work and the belief that you can do well, that anyone can go on to achieve their ambitions exceptional grades. Having also only recently entered medical school, I understand their requirements extremely well, and can assist with UKCAT (my score: 740) and BMAT (My score: 6.7, 6.5, 4A) revision as well as working on interview and the UCAS application.

Teaching Experience:

Having recently been recruited by keystone tutors, I have had some extra training with regards to the different approaches with different pupils. Since joining university, I am now assisting 8 students with their studies, all of varying levels and take pride in watching them improve over the past few months. The age group varies from doing the 11+ test all the way up to A-level sciences and maths. Having helped a couple of them with GCSE's last year, they improved from a C to an A in their sciences and achieved A*s in Maths. During my A-levels, I was biology and maths prefect, so every week I would run drop-in clinics for year 10 pupils to help with areas they didn't quite understand. Having had some very influential teachers throughout secondary school, I tried to emulate them when tutoring these students. I am fully aware of how beneficial a one-to-one session can be and look to bring the best out of the pupils.

With regards to medicine, I was president of Medic Society during my last year, which involved informing pupils in the younger years about the application process as well as giving them interview and UCAS application preparation. They all found it incredibly useful and have all received offers from medical schools since.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching style is based around this motto. My sessions are as interactive as possible, explaining complex ideas in inspiring and interesting ways, making it simple to understand. I believe in setting a good base on which to build upon and then tackling exam questions and focusing on exam technique. Nothing is easy and I do expect the child to work hard in order to understand certain aspects, at the same time I am not stern.

Something I certainly found extremely confidence-building was learning beyond the restrictions of the course guide so that I walked into the exam hall relaxed, knowing that I had excess knowledge, and that the examiners could throw any question at me. It will also help the child's understanding if they do intend to carry on the subject.

Of course I would not pile on too much information if the child does feel he/she is struggling, and would work at a pace they feel is comfortable.
Most important thing though, above all else, is to have fun and enjoy what you are learning.

For potential medicine students, I can provide tips and questions for BMAT and UKCAT practice. There are certain tips that are effective which I can provide. Along with this, I can prepare you for the various different university interviews, having experienced all of the ones which I applied for; Cambridge, Imperial College, St Andrews and Aberdeen. Another important field is the personal statement and I can help to improve it as well as relay it to other contacts I have to proof read it and offer constructive criticism.

Personal Description:
I'm currently in my first year studying Engineering at Durham university. Outside of my academic studies i am a very keen runner, training up to 6 times a week. I generally enjoy sport and am always willing to try something new, so therefore end up trying out a whole range at University.

Teaching Experience:

I have helped younger children at my secondary school to improve their maths skills, through weekly sessions. My main experience is explaining topics to my fellow classmates at GCSE and A-level to help them on parts they are unsure of.

Tutoring Approach:

Im always wanting help other people to improve there knowledge in whatever way I can, this translates through my teaching style using techniques I found useful when being taught to teach others. Patience for me is key and I find it the best way to explain a topic.

Personal Description:
With a BSc in Cognitive Neuroscience and Psychology from the University of Manchester, I use my degree, knowledge and belief in growth mindset and teaching skills to dramatically improve performance and results of any pupils working at any level. I am a trainee teacher with current experience working in a secondary school teaching pupils from Year 7 - 11. My previous experience as a project manager and merchandiser for a large UK retailer allows me to bring a unique edge to my tutoring. I live with my wife, cat and dog (both very small), so please be aware there will be pets in the house if home tutoring.
