My work as an assistant examiner for a major exam board, has given me an excellent insight into what is required by the exam in order to gain a good pass.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught and supported students at all levels and for different purpose: GCSE, A Level, Holiday French and German, Primary French and German.

Personal Description:
After leaving school, I studied at Nottingham University for a BA in Music, then for a MA in Theology from the London School of Theology. Having worked for a while at an inner-city secondary school, I went on to complete a research masters and am currently studying for a PhD. My own interests are principally in theology, philosophy and politics, but also the arts, culture and social work. I am married, have two children, and am a keen football fan (Manchester United).

Teaching Experience:

I have taught Religious Studies at secondary school and I have also worked as a freelance tutor at various points over several years for students studying Philosophy and Ethics, History, English and Music at a range of levels.

I have worked with extremely bright students but also have a lot of experience of working with students with special educational needs.

Tutoring Approach:

Education is about more than being able to pass exams, although this is obviously important! I have worked hard for my qualifications and belive in disciplined, productive study; however for some students getting the highest possible grade is not necessarily the most important thing. Each person is an individual with different strengths and weaknesses, so I try to structure how I teach around individual needs and goals. When teaching I also believe that giving people self confidence, an ability to think critically and an enjoyment of the subject is an important part of helping them to improve.

I have been teaching privately for over 14 years and I have been teaching on-line for over 3 years and I am passionate about teaching Modern Foreign Languages. I graduated from Reading University in 1980 having also studied at Grenoble University in France followed later by a TEFL course at Swansea University.After teaching French and German in a secondary school I moved into Exporting. Since 2000 I have been running my French and German Tuition and Translation company. I make regular visits to France and Germany and have many contacts in both of these countries. I regularly work also as a Translator of French and German into English. Italian is another language which I teach having studied this fantastic language at Reading University. English as a Foreign Language is another subject with which I have great experience and I often work for SILC which is a French company that sends French teenagers to the U.K. to improve their English. I have organised educational visits for French teenagers also in the U.K. on behalf of SILC.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught privately for over 14 years and previously worked as a French and German teacher in a secondary school and have taught French and German to adults at Leisure Centres for over six years. For the past 14 years I have taught French and German to all levels including University level with some excellent results at GCSE and A Level. I also teach English as a Foreign Language and regularly organise study visits for French teenagers in my area. I have also taught Italian online to Beginners and also supply Tuition via a Skype connection to students for all of my subject areas. Teaching via Skype is an extremely effective means of teaching a language providing both visual, oral and written back-up with the student interacting with the Tutor. I have worked for Apricot Online Learning which provides Tuition via Skype for students who are unable to attend school on a regular basis.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a very sympathetic approach to Tutoring and always get the best from my students. I have many years of Teaching experience and always check at every stage that the student can use the concepts which he or she has been taught. Teaching is done in a relaxed manner which puts the student at ease and this helps them to achieve their full potential. As stated above all of my students have passed all of their examinations in either French or German while studying with me at GCSE and A Level. Currently I am employed by the Open University as an Associate Lecturer tutoring modules in history and the humanities. I have also worked at other local universities teaching history and politics, including a recent contract at Newcastle University.

I have research interests in history at post-doctoral level, specialising in late nineteenth and early twentieth century British electoral politics.

I am looking to teach students at a higher education level or those aspiring to it. I can work with students at levels including: A-Level or equivalent, at foundation degree level, at undergraduate and post-graduate levels.

I am looking to work with students studying history, politics or those looking to build study and learning skills for higher education, especially those interested in studying the arts and humanities.

Teaching Experience:

I have fourteen years experience of working at higher education institutions. My main teaching has been in the field of British and European history, other humanities at foundation level (including literature, history of art, music, religious studies, history of science and medicine and philosophy) and contemporary politics.

At the Open University, I have also specialised in study skills teaching to aid access to further courses, working with students from a broad range of educational experiences.

Some of the work I do is one-to-one teaching, so I am used to working with individual students and responding to their needs.

I regularly provide teaching in the form of lecturers and tutorials, and marking of assignments.

I like to create teaching materials to help students with their studies.

I have been tutoring privately since 2012, and have had a range of pupils aged from 11 through to A Level. Although I am just starting my teacher training, I have been observing in a variety of schools for the last six months. I have a detailed understanding of the curriculum for each school year and the GCSE, AS and A Level set texts and the language level required.

Tutoring Approach:

I have an enthusiasm for Classics which I have been told is infectious, and I am a firm believer that learning should be enjoyable. I have studied Latin since the age of 11, and Greek since 16, and have a very thorough knowledge of grammar and syntax in both languages. Personal Description:
I currently share my time between working in a high school in Southport, teaching PE, and studying part-time for an MSc in Sports Science. I've been accepted on a PGCE to become a fully qualified PE teacher which will begin in September. I was lucky enough to get my current role teaching PE after a few years of experience teaching PE in everything from primary schools to a school in New Zealand. PE is one of the few teacher training subjects not funded by grants so I'm looking for work as a tutor so I can fund myself through my studies.

My particular area of expertise is the physiology of sport, I've always been fascinated with anatomy and the way the body works. I've gained a lot of experience working in schools and tutoring in recent years and, as such, feel confident in tutoring all areas of PE at GCSE and A level. Given my current academic success at postgraduate level I also feel confident tutoring at undergraduate level, particularly in physiology.

Teaching Experience:

I currently work as a PE teacher in a high school. I also have experience teaching in different tiers of the educational system. This ranges from coaching and PPA cover in primary schools to placements in SEN schools. I also have experience of providing sports science support to professional, semi-professional and university athletes.

I have also gained a lot of one to one tutoring experience within schools and homes helping tutees. This includes those taking GCSEs and A levels for the first time, those re-sitting exams and undergraduates needed help before exam season.

Tutoring Approach:

I don't think you can describe my approach in one specific way. I think, like all teaching, tutors should adapt the way they teach dependant on the individuals learning style and needs. The only word I could use is flexible.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored one to one biology for GCSE and A Level students for 7 years and have spent 9 years tutoring children of primary school age and secondary school students aged 11-14. I have worked part time at a tuition centre for two years teaching both groups and one to one lessons for ages ranging from 6 to 18, in the fields of Science, Maths and English. Additionally, I have run large revision sessions during the run up to exams, covering essential aspects of the syllabus.

Tutoring Approach:

My tutoring style varies greatly between age groups. With younger children, I prefer the use of examples, starting with easier questions and building up to more difficult questions. I feel that this method is an effective means of interacting with the student and understanding his/ her ability. With older students, I always prefer to let the student dictate how he/she would like to learn and adapt my teaching style to their learning.

For all levels, it is important to summarise at the end of each session and provide questions to help apply knowledge.

Have tutored several people throughout my time at university, ranging from KS2 to third year university Maths students, including someone studying for their PGCE numeracy test.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a very comforting and relaxed approach to tutoring. Too many students are not reaching their full potential because they are intimidated by the subject, and so can't break it down into logical steps. Tutoring styles should be dynamic and flexible, and for students who are already excelling in subjects, you should push them past the level they are at currently at and make them strive for excellence.

Tutoring Approach:

I have booklets prepared for different ranges of ability and find that verbal repetition with the use of Portuguese songs happen to be most successful. The use of repetition allows for the correction of possible errors with diction or male/ female forms.
