Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching drama students from the of age 6 - 60 since 1999. With some of them moving on to be successful actors themselves. However, I do understand that not all students want to be actors and approach each individuals needs accordingly.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that drama isn't just about 'acting' but also provides an outlet for self expression, it develops imagination and artistic awareness; it increases social and mental freedom, fluency of speech, self respect, self confidence and above all... it's FUN!

Drama gives students the opportunity to learn how to co-operate with others, aids orderly thinking and the ability to organise. The benefits do not only accrue through students participating actively in dramatic activity, they also learn through observing others.

I will provide what we hope you will see as the perfect balance of education, play, and stimulation. I run to a carefully planned curriculum paying equal attention to ALL my student's needs in our group sessions. I am also committed to a two way communication process with parents to ensure that we have total understanding and support.

I use practical explorations on how to make, perform and respond to drama. Our workshops encourage students with:

Confidence
Self Expression
Team Working Skills
Speaking and Listening
Emotional Intelligence
Community Involvement
Development of Practical, Creative and Intellectual Skills
Use The Student's Own Work As A Stimulus
Understand The Importance Of The Process
Cross Curricular Links With Literacy

Personal Description:
My name is Marc and I teach self defence moves/techniques that work under fear induced situations, are natural movements using body mechanics and can been taught in a short space of time. I teach the best tried and tested self defence methods that can be incorporated into existing disciplines or used solely to enable individuals to successful defend themselves.
I was a boxer for 10 years with 2 of them being at a professional level.
As well as being a Self Defence Instructor, I am also a Service Delivery Manager, Parent Governor, recurve Archer, Records/Tournaments officer for Archery club, devoted Husband and Father or 2 beautiful daughters.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching Natural Self Defence for 6 years on a one to one basis or in groups of 2 to 20 people. I offer to train people, 1-2-1 or in small groups, in their own homes so traveling to my course is not a problem. I have been a Manager within I.T for 22 years where I have had to teach all levels of personnel (from engineers to senior executives). Training includes technical, managerial, financial, procedural and personal development e.g. confidence building, goal setting, assertiveness and career progression.

Tutoring Approach:

I use handouts to enable people to take notes at particular sections of the training and also encourage open discussions on techniques, moves and legal implications of our actions. Each move is explained in detail and reasons why particular approaches are recommended.
Each week the previous weeks instructions are gone through and discussed in case a question has been thought of between sessions.
I encourage note taking whilst training to ensure the moves are not only phyiscally carried out/remembered but also mentally committed to memory.
I offer to train people, 1-2-1 or in small groups, in their own homes so traveling to my course is not a problem.

Personal Description:
Master Degree in Applied Mathematics at University of Cambridge (Part III Tripos), focus: Theoretical Physics.

BSc Mathematics and Physics at University College London (UCL). Received 1st-Class Honours over all years.

Graduated 43/45 points in International Baccalaureate (IB) with 7s in (HL) Mathematics, Physics, Economics, (SL) Geography and English. Received 7 A* 1A 1B in IGCSE including above subjects.

4+ years of experience in University/Secondary (especially in A-levels) tutoring. Always highly recognised for excellent teaching and enjoyable lessons!

Teaching Experience:

4+ years of Tutoring experience on IB (International Baccalaureate) and A-level (HL) Mathematics and Physics. Encourage guided training on exercise problems and past papers. Have been highly known for excellent teaching, being clear and rigorous at appropriate levels. All students I've taught have highly positive reviews and enjoyed the lessons thoroughly, while finding themselves coming out with a solid understanding and appreciation of Maths and Physics.

Also I can provide insight if you are thinking of pursuing Mathematics or Physics in University, from "what is maths like in Uni?", to advices in different schools, how to apply and write personal statement, etc.

Tutoring Approach:

Most likely will conduct tutoring in a classroom in University Campus, unless specifically request otherwise. This gives easy access to whiteboard for clearer teaching.

Training in Maths and Physics requires a clear, solid, understanding of the key concepts and rigorous logic. The best approach towards Maths and Physics is to allow tutees to voice any possible doubts towards the subject and then clarify them while making it more solid. After that, consistent practice with real life problems and Past Paper questions, under guidance, will enable tutees to fully achieve their potential, ideally.

Finally, people achieve their best if they find something interesting. All my students so far have always find my teaching fun and enjoyable, making learning much more easy and effective! I believe this is the key to continued learning to maximise one's potentials.

- Interactive approach, clarifying doubts and questions towards subjects
- Able to phrase concepts and theories in clear and fun ways
- Work on past papers questions
- Tips and Advice for exams
- Solid training preparing skills that applies to any subject

Personal Description:
I am currently in the second year of my PhD at the University of York in the Archaeology Department. My research focuses on British defences and their historical, social and political contexts, in particular York and Hull's city walls from 1550 to 1700. My area of interest is primarily Britain but I have a broad knowledge of European history from the Medieval to modern times. During my education I have studied numerous periods, including Richard II, Medieval England, Early Modern Europe, 19th century German unification, World War I & II, the rise of the Nazis, Native Americans, Vichy France, the Italian Renaissance, the Cold War, English Civil War, Tudors and Stuarts, as well as other areas and periods through my own interest and study.

Teaching Experience:

I taught 15 first year undergraduates for a module within the Archaeology Department called History and Theory. This looked at the historical and theoretical contexts of archaeology and involved a large number of readings and assigned tasks devised by myself for the students, in conjunction with them producing two essays that I also graded. I also partook in an accredited teaching qualification from The Higher Education Academy. This involved producing a portfolio relating to my own teaching and participation in numerous workshops looking at the practical and theoretical aspects of academic teaching.

Tutoring Approach:

Having studied History through GCSE, A-Level, Undergraduate, Postgraduate and now with a PhD I feel that I know what a student requires. Primarily this includes the opportunity to foster their own ideas and thoughts that are then framed within an academic context, based upon independent judgement and application of reasoned arguments. A student must be able formulate this for themselves and not simply taught the "facts" or be spoon-fed information. From teaching at undergraduate level I feel it is important that students are able to challenge ideas but then also themselves then have their own viewpoints challenged. Without the student wanting to learn for themselves it is near impossible to achieve any results, so a large degree of independent learning is required.

James Colah is from London, England and is an accomplished keyboard player, producer, arranger, composer and session man with an impressive resumé in the music industry.

He has composed, performed, recorded and produced music for more than 300 artists of various genres with the philosophy, "As long as you have a germ of a melody which you can hum, I can develop it into something which is sure to please."
His achievements and experience span many diverse areas of the music business including being signed to CBS ( Sony / BMG Records ) with his two identical triplet brothers at an early age, resulting in a European tour. He has also toured with many other high profile acts including supporting, 'Tears For Fears' in America and Canada and the classic soul band, 'The Foundations' throughout Europe. He did two British tours with `Frazier Chorus` (signed to Virgin Records) did a British tour with cult progressive rock band `Pendragon.`
James co-wrote and performed the title music for the BBC`s, `Terry Wogan`s Friday Night Show` and was featured in the prestigious, ` Keyboard Player ` magazine.
He has also worked for production companies in the media and national corporations including other projects for the BBC in the UK.
In a three decade career to date, he has worked as a musical director or session man with a range of high profile international artists which include : Edwin Starr, Ballet Rambert Dance Company, Virgin Records, Sheena Easton, Haysi Fantaysi, Pendragon and EMI.
James continues to maintain his standard of excellence by developing as a musician/composer/producer and has recently steered his talents into the genre of ` Smooth Jazz `.
He's currently working on his first solo smooth jazz album release under the name of 'The James Colah Project' and to date has released eight highly successful singles:

Music production lessons using Cubase. James will teach you how to use Cubase to create a finished production that you can release. James has a fully equipped recording studio with 36 years experience and many hit records have been recorded in his studio.

Tutoring Approach:

As a trained classical piano player with 36 years as a professional musician, James has developed a highly original and fun way of teaching his pupils. His method is not based on reading music or classical music study per se but rather unlocking the creative soul within the pupil, encouraging improvisation and composition. However, learning proper fingering and technique is also very important. Due to his unique teaching method, beginners are very welcome and results will be seen very quickly.

Personal Description:
I am currently a master's student at the London School of Economics and Political Science, studying a Master of Science in History of International Relations. I completed my undergraduate degree in History at University College London receiving a high 2:1.
I went to school in Athens, at the St. Catherine's British Embassy School, receiving 44 out of 45 marks in my International Baccalaureate exams with 7/7 in all the subjects I now tutor.
I have always enjoyed working with young people, volunteering with children through various organisations such as Habitat for Humanity and Camden Libraries since the age of 16. I began tutoring and mentoring while at school and have continued to tutor or mentor in some form every year, working with young people from the ages of 3 to 19. I find the process of helping young people excel academically, very rewarding and genuinely enjoy working with young people.
I am a very friendly, sociable and approachable person with a creative flair, developed through a love for writing and performing. I put my students' academic needs first and strive to help them as best I can to achieve their desired marks.

Teaching Experience:

Summer Private Tutor- 3 tutees
Taught IB-Level and A-Level History, English, Biology, Geography, Theatre Arts - knowledge of different examination boards, including Edexcel, OCR and AQA.
Covered problem areas, explained and gave tips for homework, implemented homework and revision techniques, helped with essay structuring and research.
Went over past paper questions, the best ways to answer the questions and useful techniques and tips to follow. Set timed tasks and past papers to be completed in the class, which were marked for the next lesson.
Gave Extended Essay support: proof reading and improvement advice. Drew on my own my own extensive research skills.
Ensured tasks were varied for each lesson in order to engage the students and keep lessons interesting, upbeat and refreshing. Created a friendly, stress-free environment, focusing on trust and having some fun while learning.
Maintained open communication with the parents so that they were kept up to date with their children's progress.
All tutees boosted their marks in the subject areas taught. One student improved her mark in IB Higher Level History and English A1 from a predicted level 5 to a level 7. Another of the tutees boosted his mark in IB Standard Level Biology from a predicted level 4 to a level 6 and in Standard Level Geography from a predicted level 5 to 6. My other tutee received all A*s in his History, English and Biology A-levels.
Received great feedback from my coordinator about parents being pleased with their children's renewed interest in the subjects they were being tutored.

Tutoring with Team Up (previously the Young Educational Learning Programme - YELP) Nov-Spring 2011 - 5 tutees
Taught GCSE-level History and English Language and Literature.
Provided a straightforward, interesting study technique, particularly for English literature and poem/prose analysis, which seemed to be the most challenging area.
The aim of the programme was to help students from disadvantaged backgrounds, achieving mostly Cs or Ds but also Bs, to reach their full academic potential. I provided plenty of mentoring and focused on fostering a positive attitude towards learning and further education.
Helped students boost their final marks. One student jumped from a B to an A* in English Language and Literature, two from C to an A in History, and one from a D to a C in English.
Received very positive feedback from organisers of the programme, both for the improved results attained, but also for the friendly and fun environment created while teaching.

Tutoring IGCSE - 2008/2009 - 4 tutees
As part of the International Baccalaureate Creativity, Action, Service (CAS) programme, I tutored IGCSE English Language and Literature, History, Drama, Geography and Biology while in my last two years of school.
I mostly covered problem areas, focusing on past paper practice tasks during the hour-long lessons.
The results were positive, with all students achieving Bs and above in the tutored subjects.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that what makes me a good tutor is the understanding that teaching is not just about laying down the facts. It is a process of developing a relationship of trust and engaging the student so that he or she genuinely enjoys learning about the subject. I find that once a student enjoys learning, it is much easier to encourage him or her to absorb the material, performing better in exams. I always try to establish this enthusiasm by varying my techniques, understanding my student's academic needs and keeping the atmosphere friendly yet focused. Every student is capable of boosting his or her marks with the right guidance and with practice. The right guidance involves looking at each student as an individual with specific academic requirements and needs and so I never use a sweeping approach to teaching, rather assessing each student's needs on a case by case basis.

Hello! I am Maria. I am a Spanish who has been living in Bedford for two years. I have got plenty of experience in teaching one to one and other education methods. I just love teaching as I think that what you teach someone remains there forever, it is like a gift for live. I reckon that learning is the best human ability and I like being part of that.

Teaching Experience:

I have a great background teaching both children and adults. I started tutoring children when I was a student at the university and then I carried on doing it for a few years. I worked also for many years in a science company where I provided science classes in schools as well as activities, shows and workshops.
I also have a broad experience teaching Spanish and helping my students either to pass their language test or to be able to communicate while living or going on holiday to Spain and South America.

Tutoring Approach:

Language are the key to communicate, and that is always in my mind when I teach spanish. The lessons are always dynamic and guided to make students speak and understand quickly and successfully. It's a different method designed to enjoy learning from the beginning and really focused on pronunciation.

Personal Description:
Hello,

My name is Mayan and I am a 3rd year Politics and International Relations undergraduate. I am a determined and ambitious student who is looking to tutor a young person who is struggling with their political studies.

I have always had a natural interest in national and international politics; it is ever-changing and I like to make sure I am up to date with what is happening in the world as it affects every single person!

Teaching Experience:

I have had teaching experience with children between the ages of 5 - 12 years teaching English and Maths. In 2012, I ran a debating society in my school where I coached 13-18 year olds debating and public speaking skills.

Tutoring Approach:

Firstly, I like to meet my student and understand what their course is all about as I understand from personal experience that depending on which board you are with, your exams and assignments will vary. Following this it is important for me to find out what exactly the student is struggling with; is it learning the content or exam study skills? Once we have established this, I like to take a structured approach to tutoring where both the student and I will agree on what we would like to achieve each week - whether it is how to make a great essay or learning a new political topic!

I like to motivate my students to love what they are studying and not to just do it for the sake of it. I hope that I can help you with not only the political content but in really enjoying the subject!

Where I teach: University of Southampton. This is because I truly believe that it is important to be in a quiet and focused room in a study environment! This is useful for both myself and the student to ensure the best grades.

I am very flexible so if there is anything that you require as a student or parent, please let me know!

Personal Description:
I was born into a family of educators who instilled in me a love of learning.I earned my Bachelor of Engineering degree from Anna University India 2014 ,after that I have worked for 3 years in one of the leading Multi National Company called Wartsila India Ltd and presently pursuing my Masters in Electrical Power systems Engineering in the University of Birmingham UK.

Teaching Experience:

I have studied as well as trained the simplest and the hardest Mathematics which makes me appropriate tutor for Maths subject. I know the subjects concept, ideas and problems inside out. I can introduce Maths to real life applications from my experience and knowledge that I've gained. I can make Maths fun and can help to develop the core basement for the students. I can make learning relevant to student's interests, thus create more students who actually care about what they are learning.

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer to build strong and intense relationship with students, because I believe personal relationship is the key to the students success. The more closer the student feels, the more respect and consideration the teacher earns. I always treat every student same because nobody in this world is lazy or not capable, its the way that we find out the best in them is the key. I always listen and communicate early and often with parents, that helps me to map a better plan for success.

I always believe that lesson planning is important and this intuitively leads to student's success. For my session following points will be covered about the topic
1. Objective of the course
2. Introduction
3.Body of the course
4. Checks and Home Works
5. Conclusion

I'm aware of the UK curriculum and know about the key stages and the assessments. So I will be giving assessments through out the programme to check the student's development in the subject and the progress will be updated to their parents after each session which makes parents more updated about the child's progress and the same will make me meet the expectation levels of the parents.
