Personal Description:
I'm an Associate of the Higher Education Academy and a Fellow of the Institute for Learning. I work as an A-level tutor, examiner and AQA adviser to schools. I have a PhD in Biochemistry and have published several scientific research papers.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching and tutoring A-level chemistry for 11 years. I specialise in the AQA exam board and work as an examiner and adviser to schools. I have also been teaching online for 5 years using the EvoTuition tutoring platform and have new digital teaching resources for 2016. I previously taught at Durham University and received the Durham University Teaching and Learning Award in 2011. I now tutor exclusively for AQA due to my work for this exam board (since 2013 I no longer offer tuition for OCR, Edexcel or CIE boards).

Over the years I have tutored hundreds of A-level chemistry students. My lessons are based around developing exam technique as well as improving understanding. Last year, I produced a full set of new teaching resources and practise questions for the new AQA specification, which I share with all my students (the new specification started in September 2015). I am happy to offer a free 30 minute trial lesson and answer any questions.

Personal Description:
I am a caring, enthusiastic and bubbly person, who is passionate about working with, and teaching children and young adults.

It is my personal goal to ensure all of my pupils are encouraged and inspired during their lessons. I take great pride in how my tutorials are delivered, working really hard to provide all students with the opportunity to learn in a fun, safe and respectful environment. I aim to improve the confidence of each student in their specific subject area, and am devoted to helping your child achieve great results in their homework, coursework and exams.

It is important that I offer a respectful, trust-worthy relationship between myself, my pupil and their parents also.

I have a vast amount of teaching experience and run a successful tutoring business, providing an excellent service to all of my pupils.

I also have around 7 years experience caring for babies and children.

After taking a small career break to raise my own child and completing further personal training, I am excited to be able to offer my tutoring services once again.

Teaching Experience:

October 2009-2013
Private Tutor/Business Owner - From taking on my first pupil to building a successful tutoring service, I have privately tutored around 30+ pupils and have also mentored two tutors over the course of four years. Teaching pupils ranging from Key Stage 1 through to GCSE level, provided me with first-hand experience of the responsibilities of working with children and young adults and has allowed me to encourage pupils to learn in a style individual to them.

January 2012 - December 2012
Drama Teacher - Providing educational and inspiring Drama and Musical Theatre lessons to local school pupils aged 2-19. I provided classes teaching and developing drama skills and techniques and helped many students prepare for auditions. I was also a part of the creative process for school productions. My aim for every lesson was to inspire my pupils during their performing arts journey. I also used drama skills and techniques in a therapeutic manner with the intention of helping my pupils deal with issues such as bullying and a lack of confidence.

April 2008 - October 2008
Diploma in Child Psychology - I studied this particular subject due to my interest in how children's behaviour, reactions, thoughts and emotions develop through the early years of life. I enjoyed this topic and have learnt how important a child's early years are. Not only am I able to understand the environmental and emotional needs and wants of a child, but I also understand the support, patience, respect and care that has to be given to the child and their parents throughout their development.

November 2005 - May 2007
A PAUSE - In my first year of college I trained to become an A PAUSE mentor. Once I had successfully completed my training I travelled to local schools and presented the A PAUSE programme to young adults aged 13-16. In my second year of college I continued presenting the programme and also went on to train other college students aged 16-17 to do the same. Presenting the A PAUSE programme took me out of my comfort zone and encouraged me to respond quickly and prompt thought throughout the classroom.

September 2004 - 2007
Volunteer at a Local Church - I volunteered at a local church youth group which involved being a general helper, organising games and entertainment and also supporting and tutoring the youth with their school work. I have helped out at many of the church performances and have also helped to run the Sunday morning creche. This role provided me with the experience of working with children and young adults. I also took part in the 'Safe to grow' programme - designed to maintain the security of children, young adults and their youth leaders within the youth group and creche.

Tutoring Approach:

I strongly believe that all children and young adults should be taught in a style that is individual to them. With this in mind I make sure I establish my pupil's learning style before beginning our lessons. All lessons are then adapted to my pupils chosen subject and their specific way of learning. I make sure that the relevant information is learnt at the correct level, often in accordance with the UK National Curriculum, but do so in a way that is interesting and fun. Above all I make sure that I spend time listening to my pupil in order to address any subject difficulties, and continue to address such concerns until my pupil feels they understand them better. In cases where children over-achieve the work I have set them, I would then make it my aim to push them to complete and understand work of a higher level.

Personal Description:
Hi there,

My name is Jean-Charles. I am a 29-year-old French male. I have been living, studying and working in the UK for more than two years. I worked as a chef two years ago, as a French assistant last year and as a trainee-teacher this year when studying the PGCE French with Spanish. I am now a qualified teacher and I work in a comprehensive school near Reading.
Before coming to the UK, I studied philosophy and French language and literature at the Université de Strasbourg. I have a very good knowledge of French literature and grammar and it has been very helpful to my past tutees.

I am easy-going and I adapt myself easily. One of my favourite hobbies is speaking foreign languages and discovering new cultures.

Teaching Experience:

In Reading:
I have been teaching French in a comprehensive school to pupils aged from 11 to 18.

In Liverpool:
I have been tutoring a mature student to improve her speaking from January 2012.
As part of my PGCE, I taught French from Y7 to Y13 and Spanish up to Y9 from October 2011 to 2012.

In Grimsby:
As a French assistant, from November 2010 to May 2011, I helped primary and secondary students with their French on a one-to-one basis, in small groups and I also taught lessons to whole classes.

In Bolton:
I taught French language -grammar and literature- to a mature-student retired from teaching from October 2009 to March 2010. (testimonial available)

In Strasbourg:
I gave lessons in French to a 16-year-old girl in Strasbourg in the summer 2010.
I also helped two primary school pupils with their homework from 2007 to 2011.

Tutoring Approach:

As I strongly believe that languages and cultures come together, I always strive to work on authentic material and I also give my tutees many opportunities to learn in out of tution context in order to develop their cultural knowledge.

However, for me the most important in teaching is to meet the needs of learners. Therefore, my priority is first of all to assess the needs of my tutees. Tutees may want to develop only some of the 4 skills: speaking, listening, reading, or writing, depending on the use they want to make of French. They also may have particular topics they want to work on, functions of their needs, projects or tastes.

This student-led approach must be carried on throughout the lessons. The role of the tutor is to maximise opportunities for the learner to discover things by themselves because this is the most efficient and enjoyable way to learn.

Last but not least, languages are interesting and fun at the same time. They develop thinking skills as well as they provide entertainment. My tutoring reflects this philosophy. This is why I always try to alternate entertainment and thinking time during the lessons.

Personal Description:
I am a post graduate student at Newcastle University, studying Subsea Engineering and management.

I have a calm look and I am very friendly, I can come down to any level to explain any topic in Mathematics to any student.

I see challenges as opportunities to conquer and become stronger, I try to explain to most students that once they get past any difficulty its conquered for life and it cant control them anymore.

I smile a lot and I believe any student will be at home with me, I believe learning is faster in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Teaching Experience:

I have had 12 months experience teaching Mathematics and Further Mathematics to senior secondary school and also to students preparing for GCE exams, this was between 2005 and 2006.

Tutoring Approach:

Approach to tutoring is a friendly approach, I try as much as possible to animate the subject and relate it as much as possible to real life everyday scenarios,

I also encourage students to do more exercise and try as much as possible to solve at least 3 problems everyday

Personal Description:
* Taught English GCSE for over 16 years

* GCSE examiner

Teaching Experience:

I have taught English at KS3, 4 and 5 for over 15 years. I am experienced at preparing students for SATS exams, GCSE and A level. Additionally I have helped adults to improve their reading and writing skills from helping them to update their CV to sitting an exam. I am also an examiner for AQA and OCR. I currently teach GCSE English and Functional English to KS4 students.

Tutoring Approach:

When we meet I will initially assess your child's needs and set out clear targets for us to focus on. I will offer lots of guidance and coaching in your child's areas of weakness. Your child's progress is reviewed at the end of each term and new targets are set as appropriate. I provide an overview for parents of what each session covered and I also set weekly homework. Experience has shown that private tuition works best with the support of your child's class teacher. Therefore I like to liaise with your child's teacher to see how I can support what is happening at school.

Personal Description:
I have a degree both in English and Turkish languages. I teach English and Turkish to second language speakers.I have 2 years teaching experience in Turkey and 15 years in the UK.I teach Turkish in Beginners, Intermediate, advanced and proficiency levels. The lessons are specifically prepared according to the learners' abilities as each individual is different and has different learning skills. Personal Description:
My name is Rosie and I am a Illustration graduate from Camberwell College of Art. I studied for 3 years mainly concentrating my time on painting, drawing and photography. I also studied my art foundation at Wimbledon College of Art. I can teach students using a number of materials including: acrylic, watercolour, gouache, oils, pencil, pen, print making and pastels. (Please enquire for any other requests). I can teach up to GCSE level and how to create the correct structure.
I am fun, open minded and have a very understanding approach to teaching. I am very experienced and have been creating art work for the majority of my life. I like to use paints and can teach blending and how to create texture. Along with technical drawing and portraiture.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching in an art gallery on Portobello Road for the past two years, the classes were either individual or in larger groups. I taught a few different lessons which included: spray painting and acrylic painting.
I am used to teaching a variety of ages but can work very well with children.
I was also teaching art classes at an arts community centre in which I would teach group classes, these classes were slightly looser and students were more open to using different materials and different subject matter.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching style consists of allowing the student to learn from their mistakes, whilst giving guidance along the way. The structure I use is dependent on what the student would like to learn. Then from this knowledge, I can create lesson plans around this subject.
I am very patient, and realise that every student has a different learning style and approach, so will always try and fit these needs.

I like to use a range of materials with the student to experiment with new techniques and create exciting ideas.
But please enquire if there is any particular technique and material you would like to work with.
I can also teach a wide range of ages!

Personal Description:
I work freelance in tutoring, teaching and proof-reading and am currently working in local secondary schools as a cover supervisor. I have interests in a range of areas,, including drama and art. I plan to combine teaching and tutoring with work as an illustrator in the near future.
I have also performed spoken-word poetry in Manchester and headlined a couple of nights.
I am quite successful at pub quizzes due to having a large and random range of interests, including history, science and culture and luckily having the sort of memory that recalls useful facts.
I believe that work should be integrated into the rest of life and that learning never ends.
I enjoy teaching and tutoring because it gives me an opportunity to meet a huge variety of people and to encourage them to develop confidence and life skills. I also like a job invovling communication and rapid results.

Teaching Experience:

I have five years teaching A-Level and GCSE English, as well as tutoring and teaching Latin. Also experience of teaching English to students from around the world, both here and in Europe. I have worked particularly with students aged 14-19 and with students retaking GCSE English with some reluctance.

For the past four summer I have taught university entrance and study-skills at Southampton University, helping students to improve their essay-writing and critical reading as well as helping refine their English grammar performance.

I have seen many different GCSE English assessment methods and boards and have been able to teach the fundamental similiarities of cirtical reading and directed writing that underlie all these varieties. I am also confident in being able to explain English grammar to current assessment standards.

I can also teach more detailed and challenging reading and writing strategies through helping students prepare for university courses and study A-Levels and Access Level 3. I am particularly interested in English literature and poetry.

I have also taught Latin, Film Studies, Politics and GCSE Maths. I designed and ran a Latin evening course for a few terms.

Tutoring Approach:

I think Students need to enjoy the subject in order to understand it fully and to be able to work flexibly in exams and coursework, When they approach questions from a position of confidence and relaxation, they can answer them more effectively.

A tutor works best when providing an alternative to school-based education and a good tutor will enable their student to explore around a topic and to discuss any particular issues and concerns.

I have found that lack of confidence is one of the main barriers to success and that this can often be overcome with the right exercises and personal attention. Another issue that often comes up is confusion about the exact requirements of an exam or assessment. This is an area that can benefit greatly from tutoring support. It is much easier to study once the expectations and structures of a course are made clear.

Personal Description:
I'm well grounded in Finance, Banking, Accountancy and other Business related disciplines, regularly scoring 70+ in core finance subjects as a student. I'm a qualified Chartered Accountant and Chartered Banker with extensive practical experience in Accountancy, Credit Control, Business Management and Strategy. I have a MBA specialising in Finance and was a meritable student during my time in the University.

Teaching Experience:

Along with my practice experience, I've acquired years of experience in tutoring at GCSE, A levels up to meeting the educational needs of University students. I led student revision classes as an ACCA student and group research with integrated study of multinational corporations as an MBA student.

Since I qualified as a Chartered Accountant, I've helped many ACCA/ICAEW/AAT students towards the path of success in their professional exams. Inclusive of this success stories are University students in business related courses.

Direct your tutoring needs towards me and let's together put you on the success path you desire.

Tutoring Approach:

I place emphasis on engaging in intellectual interaction with the pupil as it enables me assess his/her depth of knowledge in the subject I'm tutoring for. It also allows me to define the pattern of analysis to employ to drive home my ideas more effectively as every individual is different in the way their thought process works.

For complex analysis, I draw from my practice experience to substitute complex terminologies and formulas with everyday items/words/events to simplify ideas and make them easily understandable in the preferred terms of the pupil.

Finally, I continuously switch my position and become the student while the student gives back what he's learnt to ensure the knowledge sinks in as intended.

Personal Description:
Hello, my name is Natasha and I am a Medical student at King's College London University. I have always had a passion for learning and look forward to helping you achieve success in your studies. I was Head Girl and was awarded many subject specific awards for outstanding attainment and achievement. I hope to be able to help you achieve the same.

What I can offer you:
* A friendly and enthusiastic, A* student, with personal success in preparing for exams, tutoring and teaching experience.

* Experience working with children with special educational needs and behavioural needs.

* A fully clean DBS check (disclosure and barring service).

* Engaging lessons which are targeted to each learner's individual needs.

* An informative free first 30 minute session where I fully assess your child's/your initial needs and get to know your child/you, which then ensures future lessons are fully focused on rapid progression.

Teaching Experience:

* Personal excellent examination results from GCSE, A Level and University.
* Asked to coach students in a Philosophy class to support their studies.
* Tutored AS and A Level students who had previously failed exams, who then passed with my support.
* Tutored high achieving 12 year old boys in Reading.
* Worked as a teaching assistant voluntarily in two Primary schools.
* Guided friends of a similar age and those in younger year groups on how to revise for success.

References available on request.

Tutoring Approach:

* I ensure I know exactly where the needs are through an initial assessment/dialogue with the student or parent.
* Sessions are focused on identified areas of development.
* Feedback is regularly asked for and acted upon.
* I see students as complete individuals and plan activities and sessions based on this.
* I identify if students have difficulty with content or revision skills.
* Fun, personal and productive.

Personal Description:
My name is Joseph and I am a recent graduate in Engineering Mathematics from Bristol University. My passion is in mathematics and programming, but I also have an active interest in sciences as well. My A-levels were mathematics, further mathematics, physics and chemistry with grades A*, A*, A, A respectively. I am also applying for PhDs in machine learning for video games as well.
Whilst being academically capable, I also consider myself to be a good teacher too. I have ran lectures on video editing, workshops on improvisational acting and worked on plenty of group projects requiring a lot of communication to make sure all members understand what has been done and needs to be done.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience has been less personal than I would like. I have ran a lecture on the basics of video editing as well as a lot of workshops on improvisational acting. I would absolutely love to teach in a far more personal and engaging environment.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very hands on in my approach and love to have discussions with a student. I think relating work to modern day examples is very important to understand the bigger picture of "Why am I learning this?". I actively encourage questions and always try my best to explain something as best as possible for each person tutor. I don't like to give homework, but (especially for tests) I would ask students to do a little work in their own time. Usually some kind of research on something up to date and relevant examples where the work we've done is applicable.
