For example, I have tutored a boy in Maths, English and Verbal Reasoning for the 11+ for two hours a week for a year. He then passed the 11+ and got into a Grammar School.

My name is Margo and I'm 35. I am an avid cyclist and in 2011 fulfilled my lifelong dream of cycling round the world. My 27,000 km, New Zealand to Scotland trip took 2 years to complete and was the best experience of my life so far. As for other interests, I am a keen mountain biker and take part in the Scottish cross country championships every year. Before setting off on my trip, I came 2nd overall in the female masters category and 2nd in the sport category at the British championships.

Teaching Experience:

Before leaving the UK in 2009, I had been working as a French teacher for almost 7 years. Much of my work came from tuition agencies, with whom I taught students up to University level. I taught French to adult learners at the Glasgow College of Commerce in 2007 and pre 5's in several nursery schools around Glasgow from 2004 to 2009. I studied French and German at the University of Glasgow and finished my degree in 2001. I have however mainly focused on French during my teaching career. I have lived in France and worked as an English assistant in a French school for one year during the 4th year of my degree and have just returned from working in the French Alps for a year. While my Bachelor's Degree is in Biology and Chemistry, my Master's Degree is in Education with emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction, which means I have trained in designing and delivering effective lesson plans, as well as a complete curriculum. I design my instruction taking into account the student's learning style. The 'one size fits all' type of teaching is responsible for the failure of many students. Every student can learn and can do well, provided the teaching style accommodates the student's learning style, and there are no 'gaps' in what is prerequisite knowledge for taking a certain course.

Knowledge builds on pre-existing knowledge. I make certain that my students really understand and appreciate that. I diagnose any 'gaps' in content knowledge that my students may have, and I 'fill' them, providing a solid foundation for my students to build on.

Study skills, which figure prominently in my teaching, and exam technique, along with a well-rounded, in-depth knowledge of content, provide the key to success.

At the end of the course, my students not only do they have what they need to tackle the Biology or Chemistry Exam, but also a wealth of learning skills which they can apply to other subjects as well, and which they will find essential in all their future academic studies.

Educational technology supplements my instruction. The content in every session is presented on PowerPoint with quality images. I clarify every point and make certain my student has 'grasped' the present concept before I proceed with the next. Where appropriate, the PPT presentation is followed by a brief video which makes the content 'come alive'. My PowerPoint presentations, as well as my notes on PDF or Word files are available for my students after the lesson.

I finish the lesson practicing exam - style questions. It goes without saying that regular revision is important, and I provide my students with lots of past exam papers.

I have a BA Honours degree in French and Spanish from the University of Leeds, and a post-graduate diploma in International Business from the University of Cambridge.

I am an enthusiastic teacher with a love of learning, and throughout my career have proven a consistent pattern of tutoring, teaching and training designed for and delivered to all ages. I believe that in order for a student to do well that they must feel engaged and be encouraged to think for themselves, and that rather than simply learn set answers to set questions they ought to know the subject to such an extent that it feels natural and unforced.

Teaching Experience:

My earliest teaching experience was tutoring a pre-GCSE student in English reading and comprehension whilst being in secondary school myself. Moving on from this I spent two years, again whilst still studying, teaching weaponry and aviation to cadet students of secondary school age.

Whilst in University I spent an academic year based in the Caribbean, on a French-Speaking island, where I was contracted to teach English as a foreign language to 6th form students ranging from 15 to 18 years of age. This was a wonderful experience and I was proud to have been able to coach my students into having a greater understanding of their chosen learning language, and to visibly see them gain confidence with their spoken foreign language skills.

Presently I very much enjoy being based in an Early Years setting Huntingdon, where on a weekly basis I teach French to our Pre-School age group who are between three and five years of age. Again this is very rewarding and at the same time challenging: not only is this teaching done with a group of between 8 and 14 children, but because we have many children who are already learning two (or maybe three!) languages I have to also ensure that our curriculum is as developmentally and culturally appropriate as possible.

Teaching Experience:

My Teaching Experience dates back to my days as an A'Level student preparing for the GCE Cambridge A'Levels Exam in 2005. I made sure I carried all my colleagues along by conducting regular free tutorials.

When I got into the University, I continued. Every other evenings and every weekend, I would take part in tutorial sessions for my colleagues and sometimes for junior colleagues. This I did from 2006 to 2011.

In 2012, I registered as an Online-Tutor and have engaged a number of students in America and UK on mathematics and engineering related subjects. Not to mention that I have been involved in peer revision meetings all through my post graduate days at the University of Manchester where I took charge of conducting Mock Examinations.

To me, this has been fun.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is very very simple:

Step 1: Ask you what area you have problems with.
Step 2: Tell you to go on and teach me the aspects you know and even the aspects you do not know.
Step 3: I will take note of your strengths and weaknesses.
Step 4: Leave the rest to me, the tutorials would be worth the time and pay.

PS: Many times, from experience, students think they have problems with a topic, but all they have is just "no confidence about what they know". That is where we come in, to restore your confidence in the things you know and add to it. Hence, my best approach is to keep the interaction "both-ways".

The goal of each and every lesson is to make the sessions as interactive as possible. By engaging pupils at every opportunity, the lessons become really enjoyable with the students learning an awful lot more than if they were simply to be handed workbooks. My role as an academic coach involves in classroom support and teaching intervention classes with year 9, 10 and 11 students who need additional support in English. My responsibilities include: monitoring pupil progress, running lessons and after school clubs, supporting a cohort of students in class and preparing resources to help students progress and prepare for their GCSE English Language and Literature.

My role with Explore Learning involved working with children aged between 5 and 14 years tutoring them in maths and English. Personal Description:
I am a dedicated Tutor with a proven track record of responsibility and commitment to meet targets and objectives. I take pride in the work I am involved with and have a passion for learning and teaching using different techniques.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored pupils in key stages 1 to key stage 4 English, Maths up to key stage 3, Science up to GCSE, and finally A-level Biology and Chemistry. Arrange appropriate teaching materials specific to each student and their preference of teaching style. Identified the needs of learners and when necessary adapted course content and delivery style to meet these needs. Homework was assigned to reinforce the current lesson/lessons being taught. Moreover, a safe and confidential relationship is developed and maintained with tutees and parents. Advice and support is also provided to tutees in matters related to academic work and students' personal development.

Tutoring Approach:

I work with tutees to find appropriate pathways to resolve difficulties and constantly assess students' abilities through formal and informal assessments, providing suggestions for improvement and assigning grades. Encourage individual student progress and monitor disciplinary problems. Additionally a greater focus is assigned to any areas of the course, which is found to be difficult for students. Parental involvement is used at all times and at the end of each lesson his/her progress is discussed with parents.
