Personal Description:
I am a private mathematics tutor with over 2 years experience working with tutees of ages from primary up to secondary and adult learners.

Additionally, I currently volunteer at Hackney Pirates, a charitable organisation developing the literacy, confidence and perseverance of young people in Hackney.

My academic background is in engineering, graduating with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the prestigious Imperial College London university. At A-level I achieved straight A's in Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics averaging 98% in my Mathematics A-level.

Outside my work as a mathematics tutor I have a keen interest in cinema and am an amateur filmmaker and photographer.

Teaching Experience:

I am a mathematics tutor with extensive experience working with children of all ages within schools and in private one-on-one sessions.

I currently hold weekly sessions with three pupils between the ages of 10 and 15 years. My current pupils and those I have worked with in the past have always achieve their target grades, often scoring higher than expected.

A reference from a previous client:
"Hardy is very organised, efficient and committed to his job. He is responsible, loves Maths and has an excellent rapport with my daughter. In his approach to teaching Maths, Hardy is very thorough and precise. He will accommodate the lessons according to the needs of the pupil and his methods of teaching are very clear and easy to follow.

In summary, I have no hesitation in recommending Hardy as a Maths teacher." - Roberta, London (N16)

Tutoring Approach:

The main characteristic of my teaching style is my determination to see the pupil solve the problem themselves. I am very happy to explain the concept of the problem in several ways and using graphical help if necessary but will not disclose answers unless I feel it will aid in the learning process. In mathematics process is the key, as this will allow the pupil to apply the knowledge more capably when dealing with subsequent problems.

Personal Description:
After completing my D.Phil from the University of Oxford, I worked for 7 years as a Senior Biologist for a small drug discovery company where I was responsible for screening new drug targets in tissue models for human disease. Over the years I've had so many comments from students/colleagues about my ability to break subjects down to ease understanding, and coupled with my passion for science and sharing that with others I decided to change career and become a full-time science tutor. I've never looked back!

I am also a freelance examiner for Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) - examining is invaluable to my role as a science tutor and to the development of my students' abilities in preparation for their examinations. It has taught me to understand the very specific focus of each syllabus as a whole, to read for the specific aim of relevant text, and to concentrate not just on surface comprehension but to expand science beyond basic skills.

I have many hobbies but particularly enjoy outdoor pursuits including: sailing, mountaineering, climbing, mountain biking and running. Most of my free time though is spent with my wonderful husband and beautiful tots!

Teaching Experience:

During my time researching at Oxford, I tutored an array of students in Biochemistry, Biology, Genetics, Human Science and Medicine.

I have vast tutoring experience at both GCSE, AS/A2 level covering all UK exam specifications, including IB.

Tutoring Approach:

My tutoring style is informal, working with each student to improve their approach to learning whilst maintaining motivation. At the end of the day, learning should be fun!

I usually charge a very small travel fee to cover the cost of fuel.

Personal Description:
My interests include cycling and cooking. I am married and have three daughters. My students appreciate my approachable and relaxed style of teaching. I worked as an industrial chemist for GSK and Avecia but retrained to become a teacher, this gives me a more rounded picture of chemistry and its application in real life situations.

Teaching Experience:

4 years at University level
3 years secondary schools
2 years at FE colleges
4 years home/online tutoring
A-level, advanced higher, higher etc

Tutoring Approach:

Simple effective approach. Students need to succeed, I get students through exams as I have good subject knowledge and know how to teach. Students increase in confidence and gain a deeper understanding of chemistry. I teach using Skype and an online application called scribblar, this is really the future of home tutoring and is just as effective as if I am in the room with the student. I have a satisfaction guarentee ie if you are not happy with the service you don't pay.

Personal Description:
I'm a 19 year old girl from Hampshire in England and I am currently studying English at the University of Exeter. I have received 7 A*s and 3 as at GCSEs from Court Moor School, Fleet. Also, I have recently received 3 As at A-Level from The Sixth Form College Farnborough in Mathematics, Biology and English Literature. I read quite often as well as play badminton.

Teaching Experience:

I've taught children at Primary Level in my work experience in Farnborough from the ages of 5 to 11. I've also worked briefly at Kumon as a GCSE tutor and am experienced in A Level subjects (due to finishing recently) so I am able to tutor this.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a relaxed yet methodical approach in terms of helping the child learn for themselves. This means that I will often explain from a textbook and/or examples they have and also let them work out answers for themselves. My aims are to make the child feel confident about their work as well as learn the syllabus but not so that they have shallow knowledge. Understanding is key in terms of what I am to provide for the child. I am also willing to help with exam papers.

Personal Description:
Hello everyone! /Bonjour à tous !
My name is Sarah, I am an enthusiastic, patient and diplomatic young French native. I am willing to teach and help anyone with the beautiful French language.
What else about me? I am a music lover and enjoy going to gigs as much as I can, with a preference for the band Coldplay… I love long walks in nature (preferably with a cute dog by my side), and discovering new places.

I am currently unemployed and would relish the opportunity to gain experience in tutoring. I would love the opportunity to share my French skills with anyone needing help or willing to learn.

Teaching Experience:

I may not have the past of teaching but I firmly believe that my abilities are matching the role of Tutor. I am able to adapt to very different situations, and also well organised. Three years spent in the UK and translating articles from English to French for ColdplayCorner.com made me confident with the English language.
I proved my abilities with children by working temporarily in a primary school in France in 2012 and 2013. I was in charge of the supervision at lunch time and sometimes break time with kids from age 3 to 6.
I, later on in 2013, moved to London to learn English and the perks of the British culture. I was working as an Au-Pair/Nanny for 3 children (aged 7 to 12 when I started) in Camden from September 2013 to September 2016. I loved my job and being close to the children every day, the best positive experience of my life so far!

Tutoring Approach:

The idea of tutoring has held much fascination for me ever since I have a keen love for education and loved all my school years. I am convinced I have what it takes to develop and implement tutoring plans that best fit each individual student I could have. I could use my personal skills to always stay calm and positive with the students. I can work comfortably with people from diverse backgrounds and can exhibit patience and judgement, especially where the need for both is dire.
For example, for anyone who wants to learn a bit of French, I would start with the basics and go more and more deeply in the language. I can make the lesson enjoyable by talking about one the favourite subject of the student. In my opinion, this is a good way of teaching and learning a language as it encourages interaction and communication. I can also do basic lessons and help students with their homework.

Personal Description:
Hello, my name is Laura, I am 31 years old and a fully qualified, Paediatric First Aid trained, DBS checked primary school teacher currently working part time at a school in Gillingham, Kent. I have been teaching for eight years in schools in Medway, and working with children is my passion - nothing beats that `lightbulb` moment when a child grasps a new concept, it is the reason I teach... and I particularly enjoy tutoring because you get to see that progress close-up.

I have grown up in Medway and attended Fort Pitt Grammar School myself, graduating sixth form in 2003 with glowing A Levels and then attending Lancaster University, where I studied English Literature and achieved a 2:1 BA.

After a year of soul-searching, I became a teaching assistant at Riverside Primary School and just fell in love with primary education - I loved helping children achieve, and more than that I loved designing lesson plans and ideas that I knew would inspire them. By the end of that year I had committed myself to a lifetime of helping little ones learn, and the next year completed my PGCE at Canterbury Christ Church University. I got my first teaching job, and then began tutoring shortly afterwards.

I aim to provide a high quality, professional and bespoke tutoring service, catering to the needs of each family and child. I specialise in 11+ tuition and have seen good results each year from the families I have tutored, some of whom have provided references for me to use.

If you choose me to be your child`s tutor, I can guarantee you my dedication, my passion for teaching, and my promise that I will do the very best for your child. Please do not hesitate to get in touch and discuss your specific requirements.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring children since I qualified as a teacher in 2009, mainly helping students to improve their test scores for SATS and the Kent Test/11+ examinations. However I am flexible and am able to work to a child`s individual needs, such as working on subjects they struggle with in new, engaging ways that help them with their recall and enjoyment of the topic. I am known for getting good results and seeing quick progress.

As an English Literature graduate and specialist, I am also able to help coach older children working towards their English GCSEs.

Tutoring Approach:

When I first meet a family, I provide the first session free of charge. I use that session to spend some time with the tutee, getting to know what subject areas they have difficulty with and doing some basic skills tests to see what areas I will need to be covering. I then spend some time discussing a bespoke curriculum with the parents, outlining my plans for making progress, and if we are in agreement then the tuition goes ahead. I do recommend that I see my students at least once a week to make good, continued progress, and often leave them with games or resources or flash cards to keep our learning fresh in their minds!

From my own home I am able to use a lot of visual aids and hands-on resources to teach - just things I have accumulated in my years as a teacher! I have a dedicated working station that will be set up ready for learning to begin. If I come to your home, I ask that you provide a relatively quiet area of the home where your child will be able to concentrate without distractions such as television or toys. I consider myself to be encouraging, patient, and understanding with the pupils I teach - but on the other hand I am also quick to challenge them, stretch them, push them. I teach them to believe in themselves first, and the rest comes naturally.

If you feel I would be a good fit for your family, please get in touch.
