Personal Description:
I work for a large firm of city accountants in London. I have completed my chartered accountancy exams and will be a qualified chartered accountant as of the end of August 2015.

I studied French language and literature at Oxford University from which I graduated with a 2:1. I studied French, Latin and English at A-level.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught children of all age groups, from nine year-olds to A-Level students, in Latin, English, French and Economics. Most recently, I have tutored a thirteen year-old boy, helping him to pass his Common Entrance exams and get into Eton College with excellent results.

Tutoring Approach:

I can help anybody with speaking and writing the French language as well as analysing a broad range of French literature. For English, I can assist anyone with the creative, linguistic and grammatical side of the subject as well as the critical analysis of both set texts and unseen passages. For Latin, I can help with literary analysis and translation, both Latin-to-English and English-to-Latin. My style of tutoring is flexible - it is entirely dependent upon the nature of tutoring that is required.

Personal Description:
I have spent many years accumulating a wide range of academic qualifications, and my work has often primarily consisted of passing on my knowledge to others in a form they can understand. I get a lot of satisfaction from helping people to understand something they thought was beyond them. By virtue of having studied several subjects at a high level, I empathise with the feeling of finding something difficult, and have the patience and technique to get past this. I am not a single-subject specialist who might find it difficult to understand why others struggle in their area of expertise.
For students who are preparing for exams, my knowledge of examination technique, and an empathy with the marker, should be invaluable. I always keep in mind the importance of the student's goals, but never take myself too seriously.

Teaching Experience:

My whole career has been geared towards some form of teaching. I have trained groups of adults and children, as well as individuals, in elements of mathematics, psychology, actuarial science, pensions, and even tennis! Recently I tutored my 14 year-old son (who attends a sports academy, not a mainstream school) in three IGCSEs, for which he obtained excellent grades.

Tutoring Approach:

I look at what is important for the student. I emphasise clear, logical ways of working, and clear presentation. I make sure that they realise that they not only need to understand why they are doing something, but they must also be able to explain it clearly. Explaining a difficult concept to someone else can often be the best way to make yourself remember it. I am calm and patient, and English is my first language, all of which can help when a student finds something tricky.

I am consistently available for tutoring during weekday daytimes. I will sometimes be available in the evenings and at weekends, but this will be by arrangement and should not be relied upon.

He has also toured with many other high profile acts including supporting, 'Tears For Fears' in America and Canada and the classic soul band, 'The Foundations' throughout Europe. He did two British tours with `Frazier Chorus` (signed to Virgin Records) did a British tour with cult progressive rock band `Pendragon.`
James co-wrote and performed the title music for the BBC`s, `Terry Wogan`s Friday Night Show` and was featured in the prestigious, ` Keyboard Player ` magazine.
He has also worked for production companies in the media and national corporations including other projects for the BBC in the UK.
In a three decade career to date, he has worked as a musical director or session man with a range of high profile international artists which include : Edwin Starr, Ballet Rambert Dance Company, Virgin Records, Sheena Easton, Haysi Fantaysi, Pendragon and EMI.
James continues to maintain his standard of excellence by developing as a musician/composer/producer and has recently steered his talents into the genre of ` Smooth Jazz `.
He's currently working on his first solo smooth jazz album release under the name of 'The James Colah Project' and to date has released eight highly successful singles:

In April 2012, James was invited to perform as a special guest at Spaghettini's, Seal Beach, CA, USA.
James was honoured by winning the 2011 Coffee Talk Jazz Radio - International Songwriter Award

Come with me - The James Colah Project, reached #1 in the cdbaby Lounge Chart - #2 in the cdbaby Smooth Jazz Chart - #4 in the cdbaby Instrumental Chart and #7 in the cdbaby Jazz Chart

Teaching Experience:

36 Years of Piano/keyboard teaching including 2 years part time teaching 'Keyboard Skills' at Clapham Manor Primary School in South West London.

Music production lessons using Cubase. James will teach you how to use Cubase to create a finished production that you can release. James has a fully equipped recording studio with 36 years experience and many hit records have been recorded in his studio.

Tutoring Approach:

As a trained classical piano player with 36 years as a professional musician, James has developed a highly original and fun way of teaching his pupils. His method is not based on reading music or classical music study per se but rather unlocking the creative soul within the pupil, encouraging improvisation and composition. However, learning proper fingering and technique is also very important. Due to his unique teaching method, beginners are very welcome and results will be seen very quickly.

Personal Description:
I'm an enthusiastic driven person. I take pride in my work and I'd like to do it well. In my spare time I like to be active and go sailing, diving or wake boarding.

Teaching Experience:

I taught for 7 months in a Belgian secondary school. I taught 11-14 year old children Latin there. I've also taught Life Science and Art History to 14-16 year olds. My appointment was temporary and so I went on doing something else. From time to time I have been asked to do some tutoring. I hope this way I can help educate the new generation that is willing to learn.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe anyone can learn anything though depending on our skills some people just have to put in extra effort to get the same results. I therefore try to help in easing and structuring this extra effort. Finding the bottle necks in the way of studying, offering a new vision on subjects, providing a different background and helping to make personal schedules to keep up with work is my way of tutoring. As far as Latin goes next to this it just takes practice.

Personal Description:
I am a young professional who has been teaching for several years. Currently I teach a mixture of ICT, Computer Science & Business Studies. I believe in having a good rapport with the students I teach and use innovative and creative methods in my lessons to spark the engagement and development of my students. I have taught a whole collection of students at different levels and achieved a 100% pass rate with my students at KS4 & 5.

I have marked for the exam board OCR since 2014 and marked a mixture of OCR GCSE Computer Science and OCR Cambridge Nationals in ICT exam papers allowing me to provide useful insight into the exam marking systems used by exam boards.

Teaching Experience:

I currently teach at a secondary school in Leeds and teach from Key Stages 3 to 5. I currently have classes studying ICT, Computer Science and Business Studies. As part of my role I lead the Computer Science courses which include OCR Computing and the new OCR 9-1 Computer Science course. I have been private tutoring for the past 2 years which has included a wide variety of clients of different ages and abilities.

Before working in Leeds I have taught at two secondary schools in Sunderland and taught in Further Education at Gateshead College.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in using a variety of teaching methods to suit the needs of the student to ensure each individual person can succeed. I believe that all students deserve to achieve and that is accomplished through a variety of styles alongside regular monitoring and assessment but also through a positive, professional manner.

Personal Description:
I am a relaxed and easy-going person but very enthusiastic about my subjects: Drama, English and R.E. I have a Master's Degree in Drama education from Warwick University and am now a professional actor. My Bachelor's degree is in Drama and Theology from Surrey University.

I can teach all levels in these subjects but specialise in teaching over-18s

If you live in West/Southwest/Central London then I am happy to travel to tutor at your home. I am willing to consider travelling further if required.

Teaching Experience:

Since 1990 I have been teaching English, Drama and R.E to a wide range of age groups from 7 to 18, with excellent results in public examinations. I have also tutored adults in these subjects at GCSE and A Level, and for university/O.U./higher education assignments.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very aware that an adult's educational needs differ from those of the child's, and my approach is directed towards making the adult learner and the university student comfortable in the learning environment. Whether providing in-depth teaching from the basics onwards, or support for existing course assignments and projects I provide sensitive and thorough support. There are no prejudices or expectations about what a student should know, and each person is valued whatever their knowledge, level or ability.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified teacher, specialising in Mathematics and Science, but with a background in engineering. I gained my degree in Aeronautical Engineering back in the late 70's, having chosen the subject mainly to continue with my love of applied maths. I worked for some years as an aerodynamicist before studying for my PGCE in Cambridge.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught Mathematics in the capacity of a supply teacher and that of a 1 To 1 Tutor for some years now. This has allowed me to continue to work whilst also taking a major role in the wider education of my children who are now themselves studying at university. I was a Governor of 2 schools in Wiltshire, involved with PTFA here in Lancashire and help to run Preston Pride Basketball Club. For 2 years I successfully tutored pupils in school at Fleetwood High and more recently I taught Catch-up GCSE mathematics to students at Cardinal Newman College, helping them to gain some very good results.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to make lessons enjoyable, believing that learning happens more easily when you are having fun. For many students a few lessons 1-to-1 with a sympathetic teacher will help them to gain a surprising amount of confidence, allowing them to partake more fully in their class at school. I will tailor lessons to each individual's needs, without compromising on curriculum or attainment. I firmly believe in the basic values that respect every individual and strive to help everyone achieve their potential.

Personal Description:
I am a tutor of maths and physics. I mostly teach A-level and university but sometimes I teach GCSE. This is done online via a virtual classroom (WizIQ). I have taught students between the ages of 15 and 26 from a wide range of backgrounds with a wide range of abilities and am fully CRB checked. Depending on the student's requirements, I can also teach introductory computer programming, specifically Python and Fortran.

I am based in the Coventry/Kenilworth area doing my PhD in Plasma Physics at Warwick University. Most my tutoring is done using the WizIQ virtual classroom and Skype. This means I can teach students anywhere in the country from anywhere in the world (and indeed I do). I can also offer face to face tutoring either at your home if you live within cycling distance of me, or on Saturdays in my office at the university of Warwick.

As well as my PhD studies, I am also working towards a post-graduate teaching qualification which I expect to obtain this year. It is worth a sixth of a masters degree, and will grant me associate fellow membership to the higher education academy.

In addition to this, I am also studying level one Japanese and have a fondness for languages in general.

Testimonials:

Luke - I am thankful to Ben for always encouraging me to learn more and work hard! I used to be scared of taking a maths test but thanks to Ben I can take a test without worry. Ben is very good at explaining things when you don't understand them. In my opinion if you struggle with maths Ben is the best tutor to teach and support you!

Kathy - Having Ben as a tutor for my son gave him the confidence in this subject, and he was a completely different person when his GCSE came round. He now has a great attitude toward his Maths subject, and this was all down to Ben and his tutoring.

Dean - Ben was able to improve my mathematics skills in a short space of time when my job was overcasting my University work. He changed his schedule around me and tutored me late at night to get me through my exams. He has a solid understanding of mathematics and physics and importantly, he can break it down and make it easier to digest without hesitation. He has always gone the extra mile and I have started enjoying mathematics thanks to his tuition. Highly recommended.

Sanjay - I found Ben extremely proactive yet flexible and understanding at the same time. Authentic and genuine are some of the words that suitably describes Ben. All that with plenty of humour too makes Ben a highly desirable tutor!

Tutoring Approach:

I find teaching extremely enjoyable, not only is it very rewarding to see students make progress, but it also keeps me sharp when doing my own physics research! I like to be quite informal with my tutoring, as I find this helps to re-enforce the knowledge they have learned in the school classroom. I tutor at the pace the student requires, before each lesson starts I will have spoken with the student and decided what I'd like for them to achieve in the lesson. If the student should happen to struggle on a particular topic however, I would devote more time to that.

I have recently started to get involved tutoring students who would like to take their GCSE or A-level exams earlier, and have not yet been taught the subject/s in a classroom. My awareness of all GCSE and A-level syllabi makes this possible, as I can create detailed, structured learning programs to facilitate the student's independent learning.

I also have a wealth of experience teaching Maths and Physics to early year undergraduate university students, particularly those taking summer resit exams that are in need of a "crash course".

A detailed C.V and a scanned copy of my CRB certificate is available upon request.
