Personal Description:
I recently stepped down as Head of German at the secondary school in Kidderminster, where I have led the German Department since 1995. I now work as a German classroom teacher. My decision to step down was based on the fact that I got married in July last year and now have to travel a considerable distance to my school. During my time as Head of Department, the results at Key Stage 3, GCSE, AS and A2 have improved considerably. The pass rate for GCSE German has been approximately 80% for several years. This is higher than the national average and was based on 3 years of study to GCSE. Many pupils achieve top A*, A and B grades. The pass rate at AS and A2 has also been excellent with pupils achieving As, Bs and Cs. Former pupils have gone on to study languages at top-ranking universities and some have returned to the school in a teaching capacity for Modern Languages.

I have also worked as a tutor in Further Education teaching adults from aged 20 - 80 years from beginner's up to GCSE type work.

I am have friends in Germany and visit on a regular basis and keep up to date with new teaching ideas via the MFL Resources Forum.

I am interested in using a range of teaching strategies and personalising learning to meet the needs of learners. You Tube and ICT feature in my classroom.

Exchanges and visits to Germany have been given prominence during my time as Head of Department.

I qualified as a teacher in my 30s following a successful career in industry as a PA and Company Translator for a German machine tool company. I have lived in Germany for a year on two different occasions. At both times, I worked for a German employer.

Teaching Experience:

Beginners' German (Key stage 3 and adults)
GCSE German
AS German
A2 German

I have experience as an oral examiner at GCSE, AS and A2.

Tutoring Approach:

I would be interested in understanding what the tutee required, using relevant materials and developing teaching strategies tailor-made to suit my tutee's needs.

I currently use a range of teaching strategies and personalise learning in my school classroom to meet the needs of learners. You Tube and ICT feature in my teaching.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced and enthusiastic tutor with a great love of languages, ancient and modern. I have two degrees: a BA from the University of Bristol and an MA from UCL. Both degrees contained a significant Classical language component and I am familiar with all the major authors. I also have a teaching diploma with a specialisation in tutoring one-to-one or small groups.

Teaching Experience:

- Private tutor with a wealth of experience across all age groups - my students/tutees have ranged in age from 12 to 75. I have coached for exams (CE, GCSE, A level, university exams), with excellent results for my students, and I have tutored adult learners who have come to me for a variety of reasons: to learn Latin from scratch, or to follow a guided reading of Latin Literature. I am happy to take small groups as well as individuals - please contact me for rates.
- Tutor in adult education, teaching Italian, Latin, Ancient Greek and Ancient History in West Sussex.
- Tutor at The London Summer School in Classics.
- Tutor at a leading university, taking undergraduate seminar classes.

Tutoring Approach:

The key to successful tutoring lies in tailoring the content of the classes to the student's needs and objectives. For GCSE, a rigorous approach may be required to ensure that grammar and vocabulary is acquired, whereas an adult learner of Latin may want to progress quickly to adapted text, or simply to enjoy themselves with some new - or revisit Latin learnt many years ago. Whatever the case, I think learning or revision should be fun, and I aim to make my lessons as enjoyable as possible, whilst keeping a close eye on exam deadlines!

Personal Description:
As a British Chinese, I spent my childhood in China until I was 11 when my family moved to London. I found the pace of study of mathematics at my state school to be too slow for my curiosity. From the age of 12, I self-taught mathematics until university. During this period, I completed my GCSE maths with A* at the age of 12, A-level maths at 14 with a score of 599/600, A-level further maths at 16. For A-level studies, I completed 7 A-levels (Maths, Further Maths, Music, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Business Studies) and AS-level in ICT, all at my inner city state school. I went on to study Mathematics at Imperial College, graduated with first class honours and my final year exam results ranked first in my year - it is something I aim to teach my students.

I worked for a number of years for a finance firm in the City of London. At the same time, I have been tutoring since I was 18. My tutoring spread through recommendations, and I still have a number of long term tutees. I have always found tutoring to be most satisfying and fulfilling, especially when I witness students' progress from bafflement to appreciation, and eventually achieving their aspirations. Now I have decided to become a dedicated full time professional tutor, and has been doing so for last three years.

Teaching Experience:

I have done a great deal of one-to-one maths tuitions, more than 60 students over the last ten years and more than 5000 hours. Almost all the tuition is in mathematics, although sometimes I also help with sciences at the same time. Most of my previous students have been introduced to me by way of recommendation, a few found me from uktutors site, I have not had the need to advertise else where. I have tutored maths at GCSE, A-level, and also tutored Further Maths. All my students have done very well in their maths exams, so far all A's and A*'s, they have had offers and gone to top universities, including: Oxford, UCL, KCL, Warwick, Cardiff.

Past student / parents references are available upon request, in fact most of them would be happy to speak to you. And I will forward as many references as you reasonably require. I also have a long list of previous student highlights, too long to put here, but available upon request.

New from this academic year 2015, I also offer grade A guarantee for A level maths, with reimbursement if the guarantee is not met. I take pride and responsibility for my student's grades! Probably more than they do!

My teaching experience started from myself, as I self-taught maths until university. In order to master my subject by myself, I read many text books and assimilate the best ideas and methods of each. In the end, I summarized the best methods, which are often starkly intuitive and widely applicable. With these unique methods, a focus on deep intuitions and my own enthusiasm, the passion I have for maths is often transferred to my tutees. I am also of the philosophy that if a topic does not feel easy for a tutee, then that is my problem, not theirs. Then I would strive to find a better way to allow my tutees to understand the topic as I do, and feel as easy as I do.

Tutoring Approach:

My tutoring approach is one of efficiency and clarity. Efficiency and clarity means that I will be able to cover a vast amount of material in a short period of time, while not sacrificing clarity and understanding for my pupils. Students are required to learn most of the methods available for any topic. Where possible, I will emphasize the why something works the way it does as well as how to use it. All these are to help pupils to develop a deep understanding and appreciation for the subject, as well as best equip them for exams. All these can still be achieved efficiently and at speed! My pupils are usually surprised at how much we can cover and how well they can understand something at such speed. The efficiency and clarity can be achieved because I make it my goal to deliver the clearest ideas to my students as efficiently as possible. This is what I spend time doing when I am not tutoring. Along the way my students will benefit from many new ways of thinking on many topics which are not found on text books or anywhere else, which give them an edge in exams. Final note, I usually cover everything, and in advance, which will allow the student to have school lessons as revision class.

In addition, when I take someone on, it is naturally my goal to help motivate them along the way. If a tutee isn't doing enough work, I will take an active role to encourage and motivate the student to work harder. To me it is all part of what I do, if the thing that is stopping a student achieving is their habits or time management, then I will help them deal with it too.

Finally, I place great importance in maintaining a positive relationship with the tutees. Before any tuition start, we would have an informal chat with parents and student to establish how the student would like me to help him or her. It is most important that the student understand that I am here to help them achieve their goals, not that of the parents goals. This will allow us to start from a good basis to form a positive relationship in order to help the student.

Final notes:
1) I am currently developing a video A-level course, which is the best version of myself in videos! Contact me if you wish to know more, rates are significantly reduced. Homework will still be marked by me, and follow on discussions are done through Skype. Contact me for more information.
2) Further Maths A2 modules are charged at 60 per hour - this website does not allow me to state it.
3) If it is required that I travel to you, this is charged at 40 per hour pro rata. (Not available this academic year, I am pretty full.)
4) There will be weekend availability from next academic year as things stand, contact me to place a deposit to take a time slot for next academic year.

Personal Description:
I have tutored secondary school students in the sciences, mathematics and French (I am bilingual in French and English) since 2012. This builds on my volunteering as an Academic Buddy at university and as a mentor for special needs children, as well as giving academic help to peers throughout school and university. With an excellent scientific background (I graduated with a 2:1 in Physics from Imperial College London in 2012) and my empathetic, patient, encouraging and conscientious nature, I greatly enjoy adapting my approach to different pupils' needs and personalities. This September I will begin studying Medicine at Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry after spending 2 years tutoring and gaining experience in the medical field.

In my spare time I love to sing (I have sung in several choirs at school and university and done some backing vocals in an Indie band), listening to many different types of music and playing the guitar and piano. I also hugely enjoy exercise such as rowing (including very early morning sessions!) and going for long runs. My other interests are cooking, drawing, painting and reading.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored mathematics, the sciences and French for secondary school students from year 7 to year 13 since 2012. My tutoring experience includes year-long tuition supporting pupils' learning throughout the academic year for Physics and Further Mathematics A Level, lower secondary and GCSE Mathematics and Chemistry and Physics GCSE. I have also given several intensive revision sessions in the holiday period for GCSE and iGCSE in Mathematics, French and the sciences (both the separate sciences and double award). I also gain great satisfaction from using my bilingualism to tutor French up to and including GCSE level. I find pupils particularly enjoy learning French first-hand from someone who has grown up in France and experienced the French education system.

Tutoring Approach:

I enjoy explaining concepts in a clear and logical way and breaking down complex processes into easily understood steps. Throughout my Physics degree I have gained experience in presenting difficult topics in an accessible way.
I very much believe in making sure tutees actually understand the concept behind topics, as once they have grasped the concept they are able to apply it to other areas and to tackle trickier questions by themselves, and gain much more satisfaction than they would from pure rote learning.
I have a calm, patient and encouraging attitude towards my tutees and use my empathy to adapt my approach to suit each pupil's personality and learning style, whether they need help with the basics, stretching with tougher questions or encouragement in an area they are less confident in.
I will start off finding out a pupil's strengths, weaknesses and concerns in the subject, making sure they are confident with basic principles, and move on in a logical order, guided by the syllabus where needed.

Personal Description:
I was born in mainland China where we speak standard Mandarin, after graduated from university I moved to Shenzhen, the first city applied Open Policy in China. During 6 years living and working there, I learnt very fluent Cantonese.

At the end of 1999, I came to UK in pursuing further education. I achieved my MBA degree and Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language in UK. During the break between these two studies, I also gained Interpreting certificate which enables me to do the interpreting jobs between English and Chinese language.

Maybe I have a little bit gift in learning language myself? My English pronunciation is rather good so that some of my English friends even said it can hardly tell I am not English from talking with me through the phone.

Hopefully I've reassured you that there is no barrier in me communicating with your child if you are worried that, as a Mandarin native speaker, I might have strange accent in English speaking.

I firmly believe that, language learning, is not just about to learn the language itself, but also the culture. The better perception of culture will certainly enhance the language learning. Therefore, I will integrate rich Chinese culture into my teaching, of course in various passionate ways to make the class full of the fun!

Teaching Experience:

I have being teaching Mandarin for many years, such rich experience has directed me into setting up the Mandarin teaching business in Croydon. As a specialist in teaching Mandarin, I never limited my role as a business founder only, but with more contribution as a chief tutor.

After School Clubs (Mandarin) in local schools;
Taught adults students for SOAS London University in 2010;
5 years private tuition in Mandarin;
3 years interpreting and translation experience.

Tutoring Approach:

For the learners whose mother language is totally different to Mandarin, particularly for those at very young ages, a fun, exciting and interesting learning environment is crucial to avoid boredom. I will tailor lessons to help individuals to overcome their difficulties; at the very beginning, prior to learning speed, I will make effort to ensure students to grasp the basic of Chinese, in which way, students will be much easier to keep up in the future learning.

FYR: All my GCSE students' results are above grade A, 98% of which got A*.

Personal Description:
Hi, my name is Imogen and I'm 21 years old. I am a third year undergraduate student at the University of Kent and have just returned from my year abroad in Paris. I study French, with modules in International Relations, Politics and German. I previously studied the International Baccalaureate instead of A Levels and whilst doing this tutored a 16 year old girl in GCSE French - she went from a C to an A with just simple tutoring of the basics. My final grades for my first year included French grammar grade being a 72 (1st) and all other modules receiving above 62, with a 70 in International History and International Relations.
My year abroad was spent with a French company, improving my French by being surrounded by solely French speakers! I returned from working and living in the French language feeling hugely confident in my foreign language abilities across all disciplines (listening, reading, writing and speaking).
I believe that I have a friendly approach to tutoring.

Teaching Experience:

As previously mentioned, I tutored a 16 year old girl in GCSE French. Over the 9 month period, we improved on her basic grammar skills and reading and listening skills also. As well as this, I have helped (not necessarily tutored, but essentially, tutored) several friends at different subjects that we both studied, particularly GCSE History and IB Biology Standard. I have a brother who sat his GCSEs in June 2013 and as most of our subjects were the same, I tutored him and tested him often in the subjects that I took at IB. From this site, which I joined in December 2012, I gained one student very quickly and during our 4 months tutoring sessions, she improved her basic understanding tremendously, progressing from a D to a B for her oral exam in April.

Tutoring Approach:

In terms of my approach to tutoring, I like to assess what the tutee finds difficult and try and work in a different way to how they are accustomed to to see if it helps at all. I draw a lot from my experiences as a student as I have found the ways in which I have been taught very easy to understand. I would like to say that my approach is a lot more suited to children because, like them, I am a student too and I understand what they are coping with and how their mind works. Listening is of key importance and I make sure that I listen to what my tutee is trying to say.

PLEASE NOTE: Although I tutor GCSE History, I would like to specify that it would just be for the Germany option.

Personal Description:
I am a university student currently studying at the university of St Andrews for a Honours program in Zoology. I am a native French speaker ( I actually am French) and was awarded the distinction of best French A-level results in East Africa in 2011, with a score of 499/500. I performed well both at IGCSE'S and A-levels ( IGCSE 6 A*'s and 4 A's, geography, Chemistry and Biology were among the A*'s, and are the subjects I took at A level, in which I achieved A* AA in the same order).
Last year, after a long and complicated admission process, I was offered a place to go study at Oxford University, but unfortunately had to decline it due to financial hardship.
I have lived in Kenya for now 7 years, and have a genuine interest in animal behaviour and conservation.

Teaching Experience:

I do not have much experience when it comes to teaching to be perfectly honest, although I often volunteered to be a student helper for those who had difficulties with certains subjects in my whole school. I am very familiar with the A-level syllabus by CIE, and the exam techniques required at this particular exam board.
I can offer advice and assistance with university application process too, as I was tutored to match Oxford requirements in terms of personal statements and interviews, I can also give you some tips about the Oxford interview processes.

Tutoring Approach:

I will first ask the person to tell me by email what their difficulties are, and what they would like us to go through together so that I can get together the information and any details necessary before meeting and discussing it. I am fairly flexible, everyone learns in a different manner and I will try my best to match my tutoring to the person's learning habits.

I'm a young aspiring graduate petroleum engineer with a passion to be the best at what i do. I also have a passion for helping people get through challenges especially in areas I think I have the ability to.

Teaching Experience:

I have various informal experiences of teaching. My formal experience of teaching dates back to 2012 where I was the Grade 5 Mathematics and science teacher at an elementary school in Lagos Surburb, Nigeria, West Africa. I also used this period to do some private tutoring for various client teaching children that were preparing for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in giving people what they need to understand the concept. I believe that a keen understanding of any problem matter is the key to solving not just that problem but tougher and more challenging ones that may be encountered in the future. I believe in a simple to gradually increasing complexity of problem tackling, ensuring that key concepts areas are well understood from simplified ones.

Personal Description:
Having recently completed my professional accountancy examinations I am looking to begin tutoring on a part time basis from
September 16.

Teaching Experience:

I have not tutored previously but have volunteered at King Athelstan Primary School (1 year), mentored placement students (1 year) and taught dance (3 years) whilst undergoing my university studies.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring would be the same method I have used in my personal studies: gaining a sound understanding of core areas of the syllabus throughout the academic year with past paper practice being the ultimate key to success.
