Personal Description:
An experienced examiner. Graduated in Chemistry (BSc) before completing an MSc in Analytical Chemistry, I have been tutoring A-level Chemistry for 10 years. I started tutoring during my PhD studies and have continued ever since. In addition to this I have been marking A-level Chemistry papers for the last 5 years. (AS Organic, Foundation and practical modules). When I was studying in Liverpool, I helped up to 8 students at a time but will be limiting numbers this year. I generally try to make more time available in the run-up to exam season so I might be able to accommodate more.

Teaching Experience:

Approximately 30 students over the last 10 years.

10 Years of marking A-level Chemistry papers.

Tutoring Approach:

This will vary from student to student and the target grades. I am happy to negotiate the approach and pace with the student but do insist on studying around their specific syllabus and like to include exam technique and practise where I can.

I can work through the syllabus from begining to end, last minute cram sessions or limit the tutoring to specific problem areas.

Personal Description:
I studied Classics at King's College, Cambridge, graduating in 2009. I then trained as a teacher at Queens' College, Cambridge, graduating with a PGCE in 2010. I have been a private tutor since 2009, and have now clocked up thousands of hours' tutoring experience. In addition to my school-age students, I supervise Cambridge University undergraduates in Latin and Ancient Greek. I tutor both languages to degree-level standard in London, Cambridge and on Skype. I love Classics, and my main aim is to make my lessons fun and inspirational.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring Latin and Ancient Greek intensively for the past 7 years, with thousands of hours' teaching experience to date. I have taught towards all major public exams in both languages, such as Common Entrance, GCSE, AS, A2, SAT, Pre-U and even BA (i.e. University exams). I am familiar with the entrance processes for a number of independent and grammar schools, and have had a lot of experience teaching towards scholarship papers. I have tutored many students applying to Cambridge and Oxford, and can provide in-depth advice and support with choosing the right course and college, as well as getting to the necessary level for the language tests. I have also taught the languages to those who have decided to learn them purely for fun! In addition to my face-to-face teaching, I have taught extensively on Skype, and have built up an array of handy techniques to get the most from the online format. I was Head of Latin at a school in Bury St Edmunds for two years (September 2011 to July 2013). Since October 2010, I have been supervising Cambridge undergraduates in Latin and Ancient Greek (colleges so far have included Pembroke, Downing, Homerton, Queens', King's, Murray Edwards, Newnham, Caius, Peterhouse, St John's, Emmanuel and Trinity). I also own and run a private tuition agency, which I set up in 2011, managing a team of eight staff members and over 800 inspirational tutors.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching style is structured and thorough. I start every lesson with a five minute recap of the key content of the previous session, checking how much the tutee remembers. A typical lesson will then consist of a translation, in which I ask the tutee to note down each unknown word as it is encountered and to devise a memory trick which will help them to recall the word in a five minute test at the end of the lesson. Together with the tutee, I will then pick a grammar point which stood out in the translation exercise as requiring the most immediate attention. We will spend five to ten minutes working on that, with the tutee's understanding tested with some reinforcement exercises. At the end of the lesson we will recap all the new vocabulary and grammar which was covered, and I will typically set a manageable 20 - 30 minute homework for the next session based on what was covered in the lesson. Every lesson is of course different, and tailored to the tutee's requirements, but I find this approach works in the vast majority of cases. I consider grammar to be crucially important, but treat it as a means to an end and always emphasise the ways in which it can be usefully applied to translation rather than learned in isolation. I believe that any tutee can excel in Latin and Greek with a little guidance and a decent amount of independent work. Above all, I strive to make my lessons fun and enjoyable. I love my subject and want all of my tutees to love it too.

Personal Description:
I graduated in 2006 from Queen Mary University of London after achieving a 2:1 in English and History. It took me a couple of years before I found my passion for teaching, a passion that was made even more acute, by having worked in more conventional jobs, which I didn't enjoy after leaving university. I have a passion for horses and horse riding and have a young horse, I love writing, reading, cooking and walking my dogs as well as teaching. I love living in the country and taking part in all aspects of country life.

Teaching Experience:

I began my career teaching in Andover as a full time primary school teacher. I started off in Year 5 and progressed into Year 3. I have tutored a variety of different children:
Child 1: 2010- present, 16 year old (Autistic), GCSE Geography, English Literature, Science, Maths and Environmental Science. B-Tec in Countryside management.
Child 2: April 2011-November 2011, 10 year old, Year 6 Maths, 11+ preparation.
Child 3: January 2011- September 2011, 10 year old, 11+ preparation.
Child 4: January 2011- Present, 8 year old, Year 3/4 Maths tuition, horse riding.
Child 5: April 2011-Present, 7 year old (Dyslexic/Dysnumerate), Maths tuition.
Child 6: January 2012 - present, 11+ preparation.
I have been a freelance educational journalist for three years now writing for `Primary teacher Update` magazine which is a very reflective exercise and I thoroughly enjoy it.
In September 2012 I moved to a school in Ringwood and was the Year 3 Year Leader covering a maternity position.
(September 2013) As I`ve moved into my fifth year as a qualified teacher, I have now settled into a different school in Ringwood and am back in Year 5 enjoying supporting a wide variety of different abilities of children.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a very individualised style and approach to tutoring. I believe that each child is completely unique and that if you find the right key, whether its jumping on a trampoline whilst reciting their times tables or making a colourful mind map to understand how the bodies immune system works, you can unlock their understanding. I enjoy tutoring because you see children really blossom and the progress they make with one on one support is truely astounding and lovely to be a part of. I believe communication between parent and tutor as well as tutor and tutee is key to success. If you would like to discuss my methods further please don`t hesitate to call for an informal chat.

Personal Description:
My name is Aurélien, I am 22 years old and I am a French student currently attending the Advanced Mechanical Engineering MSc at Imperial College (last year). I am from Supelec in France, which is one of the top ranked Engineering Schools there ("Grandes Ecoles") and I received my A-level degree with distinctions. I have extensive knowledge in French, Mathematics and Physics. My English is good even though I am still learning.

Teaching Experience:

On top of the fact that my studies provided me extensive knowledge in some fields, I managed to improve my oral skills in public too so that I have no problem to explain difficult notions in front of a public. I already have some experience in teaching since I have been a tutor for two years though the French program : A "Grande Ecole", why not for me? There, I prepared workshops and personal teaching sessions every week in order to help my student to improve their knowledge and their skill, but also to open themselves to the culture.

Tutoring Approach:

As far as I am concerned, I think that the approach to tutoring has to be adapted to every student. Each one has his own problems of methods and understanding so that we have to find together a good way to learn for him.
What I can provide : methods class, learning help, learning methods, direct applications, complex exercices to go further, test reviewing... and others.
I am totally able to adapt myself.

Personal Description:
I'm an experienced and professional freelance multi skilled broadcast operator; I have expert and up to date knowledge of Broadcast Camera, Sound and Editing technology and techniques.

The land scape of TV is changing and Producers and Directors are now also expected to be able to shoot as well as organise the production. Being able too shoot an edit at a Professional level will soon become essential for anyone planning to enter TV production.

I'm offering 2 courses which move from beginner to advance level taking in theory and practical application:

Location Shooting

We look at the theory of camera and sound and how to apply that theory practically to modern cameras in a number of shooting environments, taking you from beginner level right through to broadcast professional. We'll look at differing camera technologies, the advantages of one camera over another and look at how lighting should be set up depending on the type of camera being used. We not only go through the technical knowledge, but also develop best practice and give job finding advice.

Editing

I train you how to use Final Cut Pro 7 from beginning to end, We'll look at editing techniques and the art of it, but also delve in to the more technical elements like ingest and codecs; how to create the best workflow possible to preserve the image quality and make the finished product practical for delivery.

These courses can be run together with the additional bolt on of Colour correction with will greatly improve your understanding of how shooting environment and how you set up a camera will effect the end product.

Teaching Experience:

As a head Technician at Pro Motion Hire I taught Broadcast professionals how to use all manner of camera's from scratch, teaching them how to become a Broadcast Professional Level Camera Operator.

Tutoring Approach:

I attempt to tailor make each lesson to suite the individual taking in to account their level of knowledge. I always endeavour to make the subject matter engaging and always try to link it to the individuals interests and needs.

I like to use practical examples and try to give you as much hands on experience with the kit as possible.

I am extremely patient and will take as much time as is necessary to help you understand any give subject.

Personal Description:
I am a university student currently studying at the university of St Andrews for a Honours program in Zoology. I am a native French speaker ( I actually am French) and was awarded the distinction of best French A-level results in East Africa in 2011, with a score of 499/500. I performed well both at IGCSE'S and A-levels ( IGCSE 6 A*'s and 4 A's, geography, Chemistry and Biology were among the A*'s, and are the subjects I took at A level, in which I achieved A* AA in the same order).
Last year, after a long and complicated admission process, I was offered a place to go study at Oxford University, but unfortunately had to decline it due to financial hardship.
I have lived in Kenya for now 7 years, and have a genuine interest in animal behaviour and conservation.

Teaching Experience:

I do not have much experience when it comes to teaching to be perfectly honest, although I often volunteered to be a student helper for those who had difficulties with certains subjects in my whole school. I am very familiar with the A-level syllabus by CIE, and the exam techniques required at this particular exam board.
I can offer advice and assistance with university application process too, as I was tutored to match Oxford requirements in terms of personal statements and interviews, I can also give you some tips about the Oxford interview processes.

Tutoring Approach:

I will first ask the person to tell me by email what their difficulties are, and what they would like us to go through together so that I can get together the information and any details necessary before meeting and discussing it. I am fairly flexible, everyone learns in a different manner and I will try my best to match my tutoring to the person's learning habits.

Personal Description:
I'm Marco, a composer and singer currently based in Oxford, UK. I studied composition with Emily Howard at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music for 3 years, and I am currently studying for a BA in Music at The Queen's College, Oxford. While at school I was a composer for the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, having my works performed in various cathedrals and concert halls around the UK and Europe. I am currently studying composition with Professor Robert Saxton at the University of Oxford, and I have received a number of professional commissions, some of which will be performed on BBC Radio 3. I am applying for Masters courses in Composition and I am pursing this field professionally. Recently I won the 2015 Matthew Schellhorn Prize for Sacred Music Composition. As a singer and performer, I have performed with choirs such as the Choir of the Queen's College, Oxford, Mary Magdalen Oxford, Newman Consort, Ensemble 45, Schola Cantorum of Oxford, as well as a variety of chamber ensembles. During my second year of University I was President of the Queen's College Eglesfield Music Society, which saw great successes in public performances that I arranged and in which I performed.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored a number of students in composition and music theory at GCSE and A-Level on a one-to-one basis, and my skills and experience with composition allow me to give particular guidance in this field. I am willing to give one-on-one lessons in composition and music theory, as these are often problematic areas for students throughout school, and my particular skill-set can enable students to achieve at a level that will stand them in good stead for University applications. I have experience tutoring in a number of practical disciplines within music, including Piano, Voice, Guitar and Clarinet. I am willing to coach students up to Grade 8 standard, as I achieved Distinctions in all my Grade 8 exams.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is combining practical skills with theoretical knowledge of musicianship, in order to provide students with a way of approaching their studies in an industry-focussed manner. My compositional and practical skills have been tested in a number of professional settings, and this kind of insight is exactly the kind of knowledge that students require in order to be successful in their GCSE and A-Level exams. I offer a calm and intuitive approach, which allows students to develop their own ideas, with my guidance that will push them to achieve extremely highly in their public examinations. My extremely positive and creative attitude towards teaching comes from a sense of the true power and beauty that music is capable of achieving, and I intend to pass this inspiration on to my students.

Having learned four languages to different extents over the past 6 years, I do understand the challenges one can face when it comes to speaking, writing, reading, and simply understanding a foreign language.
I have been reading a lot since I was a child, which means I know a lot of French literature from early childhood, to young adults, to classics and adults books.

Teaching Experience:

I have been trained in the different learning styles and teaching approaches.
I have tutored before, helping children with their French homework.
I have been tutored myself, in several languages, and have asked my tutors questions about their teaching styles so I could use them myself later in life.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very aware that each individual has their own learning style, and I am able to accommodate to each person's needs.

While grammar is important, I believe languages are much more than that, they carry a culture and I use that to make the learning interesting and entertaining. I have advised many of my friends wanting to learn French to watch series and movies, listen to certain songs, read some books, as I believe this is a much more engaging way to learn a language.

Having learned different languages myself, I can use my own experience to help someone learn the French language, with all its exceptions and irregularities. I understand that different age groups have different interests and learning styles, and I make sure to use the right approach for each individual.

Should there be specific needs and standards to meet, such as exams and tests, or homework, I make sure to be informed and aware of these so we can work towards a specific goal.
