Personal Description:
I am a qualified and experienced teacher of mathematics and physics at GCSE and A level. I am registered with the DfE and possess Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Over the past two years I have conducted hundreds of Intervention Tutorials in local schools particularly in mathematics. In my private tutoring much of my work involves helping students to get the grades they need to pursue their chosen A level studies or to get to the university of their choice. My results in these respects have been first rate. I conduct home visits for students based in Bournemouth and Poole and online tuition for those based further afield.

Teaching Experience:

Over ten years teaching experience in schools, colleges and private one to one tuition. Throughout this time I have taught maths and physics mostly at GCSE and AS/A2 level. My experience covers AQA, OCR and Edexcel exam boards. It includes mathematics up to and including Further Maths (FP1/FP2,...)

Tutoring Approach:

Most of my tutees are looking for help in raising their grades especially for university entrance purposes and whilst I spend considerable time helping tutees work through past paper exam questions I always emphasise the need for a thorough understanding of the fundamental concepts.

Most of my tutees have a good idea where in the syllabus they have issues and these tend to be the starting point in a tutorial. Identifying gaps in their knowledge and understanding and then helping tutees to bridge these gaps is a key feature of my tutorials. I also place considerable emphasis on problem solving as this is ultimately what the exams are all about in mathematics and physics.

Personal Description:
My name is Kay and I have 17 years' experience as a tutor in all of the following subjects and levels:

1) English at Primary level (Years 1 to 6), KS3 , GCSE (Language & Literature) and A level Literature.
2) Maths at Primary level (Years 1 to 6).
3) History at KS3, GCSE and A level.

I also have 20 written references from parents, for students of various abilities, across all these subjects and levels.
I have an English-related degree (in History- which included some English modules within the degree), and I have a Level 1 City & Guilds Teaching Certificate in English.

I also have a proven track record of improving student's grades, regularly improving them by 1 to 2 grades, often in less than 1 year's tuition. For example, in English, I recently tutored a student at GCSE level- he had been predicted C grades in both Language & Literature, but after just 8 months' tuition with me, he achieved an A in his GCSE English Language exam and an A* in his English Literature exam. This is typical of my success over the years as a tutor.

I use National Curriculum Resources for all tuitions. Furthermore, I have great experience tutoring all abilities from the gifted and talented to those with Learning Disabilities (I have regularly taught students with Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Asberges).

I can either travel to the student's home or they can come to me. I am available to tutor on all evenings of the week, Monday to Friday, as well as in the daytime.I tutor through most of the School holidays, providing the opportunity for students to put in extra revision during these periods.

Teaching Experience:

As a full-time tutor, I have built up an extensive knowledge of the National Curriculum and the various exam boards.
I have also built up a wealth of National Curriculum Resources for English, Maths and History : my 3 main subjects.

For English, I have resources covering the following: Spelling, Punctuation, Grammar , Phonics, Vocabulary, Sentence structure, Comprehension and Creative Writing.

For Maths, I have resources from the very basics: Number Bonds and Counting up and down at KS1, to the 4 operations & main topics : for example Fractions , Decimals and Percentages at KS2 . Also, I have books for Gifted and Talented Maths students at the top of KS2 level. In addition, I have an extensive resource base of past exam papers in all subjects and levels.

For History, I have National Curriculum Resources for the various exam boards and plenty of past papers.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a firm believer in making students feel at ease in the lessons, and in offering plenty of encouragement during the tuitions to build the student's confidence in the subject I am teaching.

I generally teach a topic to a student , and then set practice questions for the student to attempt based on my teaching.I am open to setting homework for the students, but always liaise with the parents as to whether they want their child to have any and if so how much.

Personal Description:
My name is Dorothee and I am 28 years old. I am originally from Paris but am currently living in Portsmouth where my husband has been hired a year ago. I am a French speech and language therapist, with long experience in personal tuition, willing to teach French at all levels, at home or online.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught various subjects, including French literature, history and geography, with "CapCours", a French institution providing school support and personal tuition in the Parisian area (total of ~800 hours of personalised school support for children from 8 to 18 years old).

I have also experience in private literacy courses for adults.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is to start from the needs of the tutee, his/her strength and weaknesses and plan lessons accordingly. To me, the first quality of a tutor is to be able to adapt to people and situations. My personal experience in speech and language therapy as well as tutoring has taught me how to personalise in details the way I teach. I am used to choose different supports depending on the needs and personal tastes of the tutee (vocabulary exercises, grammar exercises, conversation training, role playing, interview preparation, working from newspapers articles, comics, movies, TV programs and series, books, French reviews, etc.). Last but not least, I truly believe pleasure is the most crucial ingredient to successfully learn how to speak and understand a foreign language!

Personal Description:
I am a Politics and International Relations graduate from the University of Sheffield.

I believe passionately in the huge value of tutoring students and take great satisfaction in seeing my students achieve their full potential. I like to act as a mentor for tutees and encourage them to think about their future. I have vast knowledge of the university admissions process through my previous work experience and am willing to offer guidance with UCAS applications and university admissions in general.

I believe all students are able to achieve the best grades, it all comes down to their own motivation, hard work and of course teaching.

Teaching Experience:

I have both informal and formal tutoring experience. I have tutored pupils up to GCSE level.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach varies depending on the student's needs and learning style. My philosophy of teaching is based on allowing the students to develop their own thinking and use real life examples where possible. I do place emphasis on past papers and perfecting exam techniques as these are essential for the students to achieve the best grades possible.

Personal Description:
I am currently offering tuition services in Mathematics at high school level - (National 4, 5, Higher and Advanced Higher).
I am born and bred in Glasgow.
I am based in Bishopbriggs, however, I am willing to travel further to other parts of Glasgow to tutor others.
I am a 24 year old Scottish individual who has a strong passion in Mathematics which led me into studying the subject at university as well as leading me into private tuition.
I am a patient and thorough tutor with over 2 years tutoring experience, eager to help students succeed in their academic careers and make the best of their experience. Studied Mathematics for 3 years at Heriot-Watt University.
I have been tutoring students for over 2 years; tutoring many students in both high school and university.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring students for over 2 years; tutoring many students in both high school and university.
The majority of my students achieved at a B or higher in their exams.
I studied Mathematics for 3 years at Heriot-Watt University, allowing me to have a diverse knowledge and skills in dealing problem solving and equations.
In the past, I have tutored students all over glasgow. In addition, I have also volunteered to help students in Strathclyde University with their resits over the summer. I volunteered to help students with standard grade mathematics in an after school tutoring facility in Lenize/ Kirkintilloch.

Tutoring Approach:

Generally, my tutoring techniques are quite structured and detailed.I ensure that whatever topic I am teaching is explained in the simplest way possible to understand.
My main goal is to identify pupils' weaknesses, focus on those areas and look and see how to improve. I also make sure my students understand the subject fully before moving. Understanding Mathematics is important to passing exams and achieving good grades and I am able to do this by providing detailed examples and solutions. I make sure to go over each topic in detail and provide examples for my students to do. Each person learns differently so I either give them notes I have written beforehand or I let them write up notes in bullets points and formulas which can be good for muscle memory. My main focus is past paper revision. As I believe if you can complete the past papers easily, you can past the exam easily.

During this time I have taught both abroad and in the UK for universities, private language and summer schools, directly in companies, as well as carrying out home tutoring. I have taught General, Business, and Academic English to students of all ages (from children upwards of 3 years old) and levels, and a wide range of nationalities and backgrounds. I also tutor students in exam preparation, including GCSE's, A levels, and IELTS and a range of Cambridge Exams. Additionally, I coach university students with individual presentations and project/thesis writing. My teaching range also includes Spanish.

Tutoring Approach:

My lessons are always carefully tailored to match the individual needs of each and every student, and as such my first lesson always includes a comprehensive needs analysis session with the aim of projecting an effective learning plan for future lessons so that individual student needs and targets can be met as precisely and speedily as possible. At the same time, I always create a relaxed and friendly learning environment where every student feels perfectly at ease, thus allowing them to optimise their learning experience.

Personal Description:
I am a second year university Student in Southampton, I study Journalism and achieved a first in the first year of university. I want to pass on knowledge I have learnt in a number of work places, including Reuters in Canary Warf. I specialise in Journalism, History, Politics and in particular English Language.

Teaching Experience:

Have taught for a brief time in Primary Schools, however the main part of my teaching is now peer to peer making it less intimidating for a student to ask questions they may have on a topic.

In my secondary school I was a mentor for 11-17 year olds providing help and support for any school related needs they may have had.

I find nothing more fulfilling that helping a fellow student and watching them learn and understand the problem they once had trouble with.

Tutoring Approach:

Students will be able to voice questions they may have, and not feel embarrassed as I am a student myself. There will be homework involved, and I will target the area of the subject that the student is struggling with.

The fact I am still a student is important as I can bridge the gap between teacher and student. The most common problem students come to me with is that they feel embarrassed to ask questions to their school teacher.

I do not try and recite words from a textbook, but ask the students to learn from my experiences and ultimately do the best they can do.
