Personal Description:
Fully qualified teacher with 25 years experience of teaching FRENCH, GERMAN & SPANISH to GCSE, AS LEVEL and A LEVEL in schools and colleges. I have also prepared many groups for Cambridge exams in ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE.
I currently teach MODERN LANGUAGES (to A Level) and RELIGIOUS STUDIES (to A Level) in a Sixth Form College.

I have prepared hundreds of youngsters over the years for GCSEs and AS/A LEVELS in these subjects and am very familiar with the demands of these courses and exams.

Teaching Experience:

I teach in a Birmingham Sixth Form College where I work as Head of French
I have taught pupils/students in UK schools and Colleges over the last 25 years, specialising particularly in MODERN LANGUAGES at GCSE and AS/A Levels.
My teaching experience has been mainly in UK schools and colleges but has also included 5 years living and teaching in France, Spain and Germany.

I have been an Examiner for MODERN LANGUAGES at GCSE and A Level with a major Examination Board.

Tutoring Approach:

Professional and friendly approach, looking for real, measurable progress and increased confidence for the learner
Most young learners need a tutor who understands the requirements of the GCSE / AS / A Level exams and can train students in tasks that will prepare them for these
I find that students often need their confidence boosting and many discover that they know more than they realised.

Personal Description:
I have a degree in Modern Languages and Literature with QTS and a post-degree Diploma in Teaching Foreign languages and a Masters in Sciences of Education - Educacional ICT.

Teaching Experience:

I have 14 years experience of teaching MFL at high school level and also to adults.
I teach Spanish, Portuguese, French and Latin. I taught at the University of California Santa Barbara as a Lecturer before I moved to UK, where my husband is from. I also worked for the Extremadura Government in Spain as a teacher and as a translator. I am now teaching in London, Spanish, French and Portuguese syllabuses and I have been involved in intensive exam preparation for students of GCSE and A levels. I also revise plans and advise PGCE students in Spanish and Portuguese.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to think of myself as a highly motivated and dedicated teacher of MFL that fosters high student self-expectation. This can be done by building commitment to quality education and developing strong bonds with students, parents and Faculty. For example, I believe in employing a variety of classroom techniques to raise achievement: I have recently developed a bank of resources for Spanish and French teaching to accommodate different learning styles. Aside from good teaching, assessing students' progress is important. For example target setting and monitoring is an important method in ensuring that students reach their potential. Finally, create motivating learning environments that capture the imagination of the students, using for example students performance charts with points to show each student's progress in each field and this can be used to monitor a student's acquisition of the target language.

Personal Description:
After graduating from Trinity College Oxford with a first class Masters in Engineering I reflected upon the opportunities education had afforded me, the horizons it broadened and the skills it had developed. It was such a valuable gift I decided to teach. I have also had a broad range of other career experience from healthcare to investment banking, this helps me to offer practical advice and guidance to A Level students considering their career.

Teaching Experience:

I've now taught in a variety of schools from an inner-city London school to more recently completing a period as Head of Physics in the Middle East. I now work as a Physics teacher at a top independent school is West London. I have tutored for over seven years, gaining increasing satisfaction from watching young peoples' mind develop and confidence grow.

I am an exam board examiner and moderator, which is a great insight into how to prepare pupils for examinations as well as address their wider educational needs. Education is a crucial part of any persons' life and as such I approach tutoring with both rigour and passion!

In addition to helping student achieve their best grades at GCSE, IGCSE and A Level, I have also been successful in tutoring students for common entrance. I have helped students secure places at Winchester, Westminster and Eton.

Tutoring Approach:

Building self confidence and fostering a love for the subject is my overall aim. To do this I endeavour to establish a close working relationship with each tutee based on trust and their confidence in me to facilitate their exam success as well as address their wider educational needs. Thought process, rather than content, lies at the heart of my ambition to develop self sufficient learners yet I appreciate than content and technique cannot be understated when preparing for exams.

Personal Description:
I am easy to get on with, enthusiastic and dedicated. I enjoy a wide range of activities from playing the piano to playing rugby. In 2012 I graduated with a 1st class BSc in Medical Biochemistry and am now currently studying for my finals in post-graduate medicine at the University of Warwick.

Teaching Experience:

My first experience of teaching came when I was asked to mentor pupils further down my school and help them to read and write. In later years I also helped S.E.N children with ways to overcome some of the challenges that they face, for example techniques to learn spellings or equations. Whilst at university I also helped a number of people with not only theoretical aspects of the course but also with practical elements as well. One of my proudest successes was when I tutored a student on a different course who had never encountered quadratic equations before. By the end of the term she achieved one of the highest marks in the year (>80%). I have also been asked by several peers to help them with communication and presentation skills.
I have worked as a Carer specialising in Children with special educational needs (S.E.N). During my time with them I try to teach them interesting things about the wider world, whilst also helping them with basic safety skills such as how to cross the road.

I have also helped teach university students on a peer support basis and acted as a mentor for resitting students

Tutoring Approach:

I like to work with my tutees and help them to identify any problems they have. One of ways I like to do this, is by getting the tutee to explain the topic to me. This allows me to try and identify if there is a misunderstanding in their prior knowledge that might be impeding their current learning. Once the trouble areas have been uncovered I will work methodically through the topic using a variety of techniques to help them gain the knowledge they require. After a tutee has come to grips with the topic, I ask them to explain again the whole topic to me in any way that they see fit (be it a presentation or written prose it is up to them!). Not only will this help to instill a confidence in their own knowledge but also aid in teaching valuable communication skills that will be beneficial throughout their life.

Personal Description:
You're looking for an experienced tutor who offers something extra special...

My name's Colin and I've helping students to enjoy their learning for more than fifteen years.

As one of my students, you won't just get the grades. I will boost your confidence and you'll learn to love your subject.

An A2 student texted me after his re-sit exam, to say:

"I'd just like to say cheers for all the help. I know I wasn't the best student when we started, but I wouldn't be going into this exam with any degree of confidence if it weren't for you"

...and he got an A.

Teaching Experience:

Providing the highest quality private tuition with consistently excellent results, I take students each year - usually at GCSE or A Level, though I sometimes support undergraduates too - for one-to-one support in English Literature, English Language, Media Studies or Sociology.

I have also worked as a trainer, facilitator and manager, supporting other educators to ensure that children and young people are ready to learn.

Some examples of the results of recent students:
Two AS Literature: both achieved Grade A
One A2 Literature re-sit: from fail to Grade B
Two GCSE Language and Literature: 3 Grade As and 1 B
Two A2 Media Studies: both Grade A

Tutoring Approach:

My solution-focussed approach complements my thorough curriculum knowledge and excellent teaching practice.

My tuition methods are reinforced by more than fifteen years of experience as a tutor, trainer, supervisor, mentor for young people, and a coach for adult learners.

I am committed to continuous assessment, ongoing feedback to students, parents/carers, varied, relevant homework and a unshakeable belief that my students will achieve.

Personal Description:
Tristan, experienced Drama School Graduate and actor offers Acting, Voice classes, Auditions coaching and Elocution Lessons in the Banbury/Oxfordshire/Northamptonshire area.

I work primarily as a professional actor, which has given me first hand experience of a variety of different audition processes, and crucially Drama School auditions. Most of my students are preparing for such auditions, or ESB and LAMDA exams.

Teaching Experience:

Tutoring Experience: Teacher of Drama, workshop leader for Northamptonshire County Council since 2007. Saturday morning sessions offered throughout the county: classes, workshops etc with age groups 2 to 5, 5 to 8, 8 to 11, 11 to16. Several years experience in teaching A Level students in FE Establishments Secondary Schools, and private tutoring for students of all ages including adults preparing for auditions.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer a personable one to one teaching experience which I'm told inspires confidence in young people, of whom many have gone on to achieve success in auditions, or pursued acting further. I am approachable and constructive, while sensitive in my feedback, and provide a very practical, engaging service for aspiring actors. My reasonable 20.00 per hour rate includes assistance in choosing and interpreting the right pieces (classical, modern, songs and poems and narrative pieces for LAMDA exams), developing character and voice work. The sessions are absolutely tailored to the individual's needs and we set out clear goals and strategies each week.

Personal Description:
I have extensive experience in a wide range of areas relating to garment design and construction. I have a BA in 'Textile Design for Fashion' from Manchester School of Art, for my final project I both designed and made four fashion collections. I undertook a three month internship with Vivienne Westwood where I learned to trace and develop patterns, as well as work on the show at Paris Fashion Week. I then went on to start my own freelance business in bridal wear design, creating a collection for a niche bridal shop called 'The Case of the Curious Bride'.

I am able to create fashion designs and translate them three dimensionally onto the stand, I can create illustrations in Adobe Illustrator, can re-touch photographs in Adobe Photoshop, as well as create publications in Adobe InDesign, and edit film using iMovie.

Personal Description:
I am currently studying my first year of A-Levels at The Liverpool Blue Coat School. I thoroughly enjoy working with children and believe I have a friendly, approaching personality which makes me able to communicate with children of all ages. In my free time I enjoy playing hockey and attend Ancient Greek lessons. In the future I aim to study maths at university.

Teaching Experience:

In recent years, I have delivered a maths lesson to a year 8 class, which proved to be very enjoyable for both the students and I. I deliver weekly lessons to year 7s at Blue Coat and I am currently tutoring year 11 latin students in preparation for their latin GCSE. As well as this, I have a younger sister who I regularly help with homework.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe the key to success for anything in life is
1) to have the necessary knowledge
2) to know your own personal weaknesses and also knowing how to go about fixing them
3) to have self-belief and confidence about whether you can succeed
I am here to provide a positive environment for students so that no question is a stupid question and to help students achieve their very best potential. Unfortunately in schools nowadays, teachers may not have the time to check that every single individual student understands everything they have been taught so I am able to teach and revise 'fuzzy' areas so that students feel both confident walking into an exam and knowing they have tried their very best to reach their potential. The most rewarding thing about being a tutor is seeing students' self-satisfaction and personal development.

Personal Description:
My name is Iakovos and I am a qualified (holding QTS) and experienced teacher. I have been teaching Latin, Ancient Greek, Biblical Greek, Modern Greek, History and Religious Education since 2007. I am passionate about teaching and always looking forward to enriching my knowledge; not only in my areas of teaching, but also in other topics.

I also write poetry. Some of my poems have been published in Greek and Cypriot journals and I have also written two volumes of poetry, which have been published by Anazitiseis publishing house in Cyprus, my home country.

Teaching Experience:

I studied Latin and Greek at the University of Ioannina, Greece. The main subjects of my first degree are the following: Latin Language and Literature (like Roman Satire and Cicero), Ancient Greek Language and Literature (like Homer, Tragedy and Comedy), Byzantine Greek, Modern Greek, Philosophy and History.

After my first degree, I decided to continue my studies at a postgraduate level. I did a Master of Arts in Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies. After, I did a Master in Theology, specializing in World Religions, Monasticism and Philosophy. I am currently reading for a PhD at King's College London in Greek and Medical Humanities.

Apart from my long experience as a freelance teacher of Latin and Greek -at all levels: Entry Level, GCSE, A Level-, I also worked as a Latin and Greek teacher in Primary, Secondary and Higher Education in the U.K and other European countries.

Tutoring Approach:

I am an experienced tutor, as I have long experience in teaching 1:1, small groups of students, as well as groups of more than 20 pupils. Working as a language, RE and History tutor and teacher, my methodology is based on PowerPoint presentations, explaining Latin grammar, for example, through a comparison of Latin and English.

I am an expert user of HOTS (Higher-Order Thinking Skills), which challenge students and help them reach their potentials.
