Personal Description:
Hello, I am a lecturer and writer and enjoy working with students to help them achieve their potential.

I have written for many newspapers and magazines including The Guardian, The Big Issue, Bristol Review of Books, Real Travel, Mind Magazine, Volunteering England and Venue. Previous to being freelance I was Publisher at The Big Issue (South West) magazine.

In 2010, my book 'How to work as a freelance journalist' was published by How To Books (Oxford) which is now on many reading lists for journalism courses across the country and internationally.

In have also written two books 'Banksy: Myths and Legends' and 'Glastonbury Festival: Myths and Legends'.

My degree was in Communications Studies and this has provided me with the basis of my career in the media and communications.

Teaching Experience:

I teach journalism and publishing at Bath Spa University and UWE, helping students with their writing skills and in getting their work published. I have also taught adult learners at The Folk House and young people at Weston College (Professional Writing) and The Arvon Foundation.

I also teach employability at Bath Spa Uni and can also offer help in getting your career on track.

Tutoring Approach:

Through this site I have worked with students that need help with their dissertations, I have helped adult learners write articles and then find suitable publications to publish their work. Many students email first to see if I can help and I don't believe in taking anyone's money if I can't help, so please feel free to drop me a line.

I have worked with many students via email and telephone. This means that you can tackle a bit at a time, and save yourself money. I usually make a few suggestions at first, allow you to make them and then repeat the process until you are happy your work is the best it can be.

Personal Description:
Bonjour!

My name is Saleha, I was born in Paris in the famous Montmartre Quarter. I spent all my student years in the City of Light and after finishing my studies at the University Paris V, I decided to move in the UK to learn English - and what a better way to learn and assimilate than interacting with people who actually speak the language, though I still have my French accent!

You can get the full flavour of a language with a native speaker, including the accents and the pronunciations of various sounds that are absent in English.

I look forward to working with you to improve your grasp of the French Language!

A tres bientot!

Personal Description:
I am a fourth year medical student at Imperial College London. Having recently been through high school and excelled in both GCSEs and A-levels, I know what it requires for a student to perform to the best of their ability. I am a strong believer that with hard work and the right guidance, most students can go on to achieve excellent grades.

Teaching Experience:

During my A-levels, I have helped teach younger students in Geography and Maths classes, but the majority of my teaching experience has been with my two younger brothers. I have worked very hard with them over the years and take pride in the fact that they too performed exceptionally well at school through my help.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to make my lessons interactive, explaining complex ideas in the simplest and most interesting way possible. I strongly believe that student must first develop a good conceptual understanding of the subject before refining their exam technique. I will work hard for my students and expect them to do the same in their studies.

Personal Description:
I am a final year university student studying at University College London. I study French and Arabic, and have been speaking and learning French academically since the age of 8. I particularly specialise in literature and spoken language. I completed my A-level in French with a record result of 590/600 UMS marks, achieving a top 5% grade in the United Kingdom. I also completed an AS level in Religious Studies, and it is still a subject which I read into regularly outside of my university degree.

I have recently returned from a year spent studying abroad, where I spent 5 months in Amman, Jordan developing my spoken Arabic language. I also spent 6 months in Montpellier, France where I undertook a number of university courses to develop my French language further and also to further immerse myself into the French culture.

Teaching Experience:

I have previously been involved in teaching English, Maths and Sciences whilst at school to fellow classmates through a formal "Student Tutor" system up until GCSE grade. I have tutored French GCSE/A-Level students with helping with Oral/Speaking practice as well as literature study sessions.

At University I have been a mentor for a number of years, helping incoming first year students with the transition from school to university and also helping them with the academic difficulties of their courses within the French department.

Tutoring Approach:

When learning a language, it required a different approach to learning a science. This is something I have developed over learning a language for over 10 years. You can never completely learn a language, it is a constant process. Therefore my approach to teaching it is to first assess what the individual goals are of the student and then map out the logical and realistic path to achieve them within the given timeframe.

Teaching sessions will be planned and will require a degree of preparation from the student to benefit fully from them. Speaking sessions, dependant on the level required, would be structured around the syllabus and would mostly take part in French, however I would strive to push the student to perform slightly above what is generally required, so as to ensure the highest possible grade. With literature sessions, preparation is crucial. Whether a film, a book or poetry, pre reading is essential.

I try to tailor my sessions as much as possible to the individual needs of each student and would be happy to discuss how they would prefer to have the sessions structured to best suit their requirements.

Personal Description:
Hello, I am in my forties and I live in Worthing. I specialise in teaching English as a foreign language. I welcome teaching both individuals and small groups with everyday, educational or business English.

I enjoy travelling, meeting new people and learning about other countries. I have just returned from teaching English in Japan for four years, which I loved.

I also have experience working in both education and business in the UK. I was a primary school teacher for eight years and worked in insurance for 11 years.

Teaching Experience:

-I taught Keys Stage 1 and 2 for eight years in an East London primary school. The majority of which did not speak English regularly at home.
-I carried out training on technical insurance issues as part of my job with the insurance company.
-I taught English in two of Japan's well known English conversation schools (ECC and AEON). I worked with students ages ranging from 18 months to 70+ at all levels from beginner to advanced. I also did some work in a few Japanese kindergartens and some summer relief work in a local Worthing language school (CES).

Tutoring Approach:

I like lessons to be fun and the students to feel relaxed. The needs of the students comes first as everyone is different.

After an initial assessment ,I agree with the tutee a lesson progress plan. The lessons will have a clear goal and will relate to real life wherever possible.

Please note that all lessons with children should be at their home with a responsible adult present or available.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced teacher of English and mother of two in my forties. I graduated from Greenwich University in 2005 with a 2:1 in English and history and then went on to study for a masters degree in English at the University of Kent in 2006, earning a degree with merit. After graduating I completed a School Centred Initial Teacher Training course with Kent and Medway Training, through which I achieved Qualified Teacher Status and a PGCE.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked in Bexley Borough as a full time teacher for the past five years and I am currently teaching English Literature and Language at Erith School. I have a successful track record with both individual students and whole classes. My 2011 Year 11 class achieved 100% A* - C grades (6 A*s, 2 As, 14 Bs, and 6 Cs). And, after taking their Language exam in January 2012, my last, slightly lower ability, Year 11 class achieved 84% B - C grades.

Tutoring Approach:

I am an enthusiastic and committed teacher and I take enormous pride in my work. I have excellent communication skills and feel that I make English both understandable and interesting to the students I teach. I am generally an organised and quite disciplined person, but I also believe that spontaneity, flexibility and humour can play an important part in creating a positive, productive learning environment.

I have my own car and I am prepared to travel to homes within a ten mile radius of my home in New Ash Green or areas within Bexley Borough (on weekday evenings). However, I am also happy to give tuition at my home.

Personal Description:
I have extensive experience with the Japanese language: 4 years on a honours course at Edinburgh University, a year in Doshisha, and 4 years in Osaka where I gained my masters degree in Japanese linguistics. My experience is very broad because my interest in Japan starts with the language and spreads out through the history, culture and literature. I love to have long conversations about Japanese culture and listen to others peoples impressions and experiences.

Teaching Experience:

I taught both Japanese and English for over 4 years while I lived in Osaka. I have taught children as young as 4 and adults as old as 92.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching in very much rooted in the traditional approach known as "kokugo". This approach is very much back to basics but at the same time I intend to provide the explanations of how and why seemingly arbitrary rules exist.

Personal Description:
I come from a long line of education. Having gone through O Levels, A Levels, Undergraduate and Postgraduate degrees has given me the knowledge and understanding of a wide range of topics. I took all three sciences during O Levels and carried on with Biology and Chemistry to start a degree in Biochemistry. I am very proficient in English and Mathematics where I have achieved an A in both. I also went to do a Masters degree where I studied Business Finance, therefore I can say I have a wide range of expertise.
I am currently working as a Business Analyst and am generally free over the evenings and weekends.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics for a long time. I started tutoring during my high school where I have been involved in various peer tutoring groups. I have also been in the committee of the Model United Nations and used to teach the incoming delegates how to make resolutions and how to be confident in speaking.
I used to also be a part of the debating society giving me the opportunity to teach other students how to carry out a proper debate and how to produce a flawless argument.

Tutoring Approach:

I generally believe that education can be fun if you are taught by people who make it fun. I try to engage with the student with a calm approach and work towards making the student feel comfortable while teaching. Being young and friendly, I know I can use these approaches to relate much more with students.
I have worked with individual tutoring and group tutoring, knowing that if the tutor shows hard work, it shall be reflected in the student.
